The purpose of this paper is to investigate the concept of $2$-absorbing primary submodules generalizing $2$-absorbing primary ideals of rings. Let $M$ be an $R$-module. A proper submodule $N$ of an $R$-module $M$ is called a $2$-absorbing primary submodule of $M$ if whenever $a,b\in R$ and $m\in M$ and $abm\in N$, then $am\in M$-$rad(N)$ or $bm\in M$-$rad(N)$ or $ab\in(N:_RM)$. This paper applies G. Lyubeznik's notion of $F$-finite modules to describe in a very down-to-earth manner certain annihilator submodules of some top local cohomology modules over Gorenstein rings. As a consequence we obtain an explicit description of the test ideal of Gorenstein rings in terms of ideals in a regular ring.

In this article, all rings are commutative with nonzero identity. Let $M$ be an $R$-module. A proper submodule $N$ of $M$ is called a classical prime submodule, if for each $m\in M$ and elements $a,b\in R$, $abm\in N$ implies that $am\in N$ or $bm\in N$. We introduce the concept of "classical 2-absorbing submodules" as a generalization of "classical prime submodules." Counting submodules of a module over a noetherian commutative ring

We count the number of submodules of an arbitrary module over a countable noetherian commutative ring. We give, along the way, a structural description of meager modules, which are defined as those that do not have the square of a simple module as subquotient. We deduce in particular a characterization of uniserial modules over commutative noetherian rings.

Strongly Prime Submodules

Let $R$ be a commutative ring with identity. For an $R$-module $M$, the notion of strongly prime submodule of $M$ is defined. It is shown that this notion of prime submodule inherits most of the essential properties of the usual notion of prime ideal. Commutative rings in which every prime ideal is the intersection of maximal ideals are called Hilbert (or Jacobson) rings. We propose to define classical Hilbert modules by the property that {\it classical prime} submodules are the intersection of maximal submodules. PS-Hollow Representations of Modules over Commutative Rings

Let $R$ be a commutative ring and $M$ a non-zero $R$-module. We introduce the class of \emph{pseudo strongly hollow submodules} (\emph{PS-hollow submodules}, for short) of $M$. Inspired by the theory of modules with \emph{secondary representations}, we investigate modules which can be written as \emph{finite} sums of PS-hollow submodules. Coprimely Structured Modules

Let R be a commutative ring with identity. A prime submodule P of an R-module M is called coprimely structured if, whenever P is coprime to each element of an arbitrary family of submodules of M, the intersection of the family is not contained in P. An R-module M is called coprimely structured provided each prime submodule of M is coprimely structured. In this paper, properties of coprimely structured modules are examined. We show that if a graded submodule of a Noetherian module cannot be written as a proper intersection of graded submodules, then it cannot be written as a proper intersection of submodules at all. More generally, we show that a natural extension of the index of reducibility to the graded setting coincides with the ordinary index of reducibility.
