Analytical solutions to the time-dependent Shrödinger equation in one dimension are developed for time-independent potentials, one consisting of an infinite wall and a repulsive delta function. An exact solution is obtained by means of a convolution of time-independent solutions spanning the given Hilbert space with appropriately chosen spectral functions. Square-integrability and the boundary conditions are satisfied. The probability for the particle to be found inside the potential well is calculated and shown to exhibit non-exponential decay decreasing at large times as $t^{-3}$. The result is generalized for all square-integrable solutions to this problem.
We demonstrate the utility of physics-informed neural networks (PINNs) as solvers for the non-relativistic, time-dependent Schrödinger equation. We study the performance and generalisability of PINN solvers on the time evolution of a quantum harmonic oscillator across varying system parameters, domains, and energy states.
Exact solutions of Schrodinger equation for PT-/non-PT-symmetric and non-Hermitian Exponential Type Potentials with the position-dependent effective mass
The aim of this paper is to find the exact solutions of the Schrodinger equation. As is known, the Schrodinger equation can be reduced to the continuum equation. In this paper, using the non-linear Legendre transform the equation of continuity is linearized. Particular solutions of such a linear equation are found in the paper and an inverse Legendre transform is considered for them with subsequent construction of solutions of the Schrodinger equation. Examples of the classical and quantum systems are considered.
We show in this paper that the basic representations of position and momentum in a quantum mechanical system, that are guided by a generalized uncertainty principle and lead to a corresponding one-parameter eigenvalue problem, can be interpreted in terms of an extended Schrodinger equation embodying momentum-dependent mass. Some simple consequences are pointed out.
I present an alternative and rather direct way to derive the well known Schrödinger equation for a quantum wavefunction, by starting with the Klein Gordon equation and applying a directional factorization scheme. And since if you have a directionally factorizing hammer, everything looks like a factorizable nail, I also derive an alternative wavefunction propagation equation in the momentum-dominated limit. This new Schrödinger $p$-equation therefore provides a potentially useful complement to the traditional Schrödinger $m$-equation's mass-dominated limit.
We introduce a new exactly integrable potential for the Schrödinger equation for which the solution of the problem may be expressed in terms of the Gauss hypergeometric functions. This is a potential step with variable height and steepness. We present the general solution of the problem, discuss the transmission of a quantum particle above the barrier, and derive explicit expressions for the reflection and transmission coefficients.
We introduce an exactly integrable singular potential for which the solution of the one-dimensional stationary Schrödinger equation is written through irreducible linear combinations of the Gauss hypergeometric functions. The potential, which belongs to a general Heun family, is a short-range one that behaves as the inverse square root in the vicinity of the origin and vanishes exponentially at the infinity. We derive the exact spectrum equation for the energy and discuss the bound states supported by the potential.
We introduce two potentials explicitly given by the Lambert-W function for which the exact solution of the one-dimensional stationary Schrödinger equation is written through the first derivative of a double-confluent Heun function. One of these potentials is a singular potential that behaves as the inverse square root in the vicinity of the origin and vanishes exponentially at the infinity. The exact solution of the Schrödinger equation for this potential is given through fundamental solutions each of which presents an irreducible linear combination of two confluent hypergeometric functions. S…
It is shown that if a complete set of mutually commuting operators is formed by constants of motion, then, up to a factor that only depends on the time, each common eigenfunction of such operators is a solution of the Schrödinger equation. In particular, the operators representing the initial values of the Cartesian coordinates of a particle are constants of motion that commute with each other and from their common eigenfunction one readily obtains the Green function.
We consider non-relativistic position-dependent mass (PDM) Schrodinger particles moving in an elastic medium with space-like screw dislocation. Within the cylindrical coordinates, we study and report the effects of screw dislocation as well as PDM settings on the energy levels of some PDM-quantum mechanical systems. In so doing, we use a power-law type positive-valued dimensionless scalar multiplier f(r) (Which manifestly introduces the metaphoric notion of PDM-Schrodinger particles). Next, we subject such PDM particles to magnetic and Aharonov-Bohm flux fields. We report exact or conditionall…
A prescription is given to obtain some exact results for certain external potentials $V\left({\vec r}\right)$ of the time-independent Gross-Pitaevskii and Schrödinger equations. The study motivation is the ability to program $V\left({\vec r}\right)$ experimentally in Bose-Einstein condensates. Rather than derive wavefunctions that are solutions for a given $V\left({\vec r}\right)$, we ask which $V\left({\vec r}\right)$ will have a given pdf (probability density function) $P\left({\vec r}\right)$. Several examples in 1D and 2D are presented for well-known pdfs and for the hydrogen atom in momen…
Recent studies have shown that the use of Dunkl derivatives instead of ordinary derivatives leads to deriving parity-dependent dynamic solutions. According to this motivation in this manuscript, we formulate the Dunkl-Schrödinger equation within the position-dependent mass formalism and derive an algebraic solution out of it. Our systematic approach lets us observe some new findings in addition to the earlier ones. For example, we find that the solution of the Dunkl-Schröodinger equation with position-dependent mass cannot be considered independent of the choice of parameters. Similarly, throu…
We show how the Laplace transform can be used to give a solution of the time-dependent Schrödinger equation for an arbitrary initial wave packet if the solution of the stationary equation is known. The solution is obtained without summing up eigenstates nor do we need the path integral. We solve the initial value problem for three characteristic piecewise constant potentials. The results give an intuitive picture of the wave packet dynamics, reproducing explicitly all possible reflection and transmission processes. We investigate classical and quantum properties of the evolution and determine …
The derivation of the time dependent Schrödinger equation with transversal and longitudinal relaxation, as the quantum mechanical analog of the classical Landau-Lifshitz-Bloch equation, has been described. Starting from the classical Landau-Lifshitz-Bloch equation the transition to quantum mechanics has been performed and the corresponding von-Neumann equation deduced. In a second step the time Schrödinger equation has been derived. Analytical proofs and computer simulations show the correctness and applicability of the derived Schrödinger equation.
