The cyclic relation obtained in a study by Hirose, Murakami, and the first-named author, is a wide class of relations, which includes the well-known cyclic sum formula for multiple zeta and zeta-star values, and the derivation relation for multiple zeta values. In this paper, we present its generalization to complex variables. Our proof includes a new proof of the cyclic relation.
The cyclic sum formulas for multiple zeta and zeta-star values were respectively proved by Hoffman and Ohno, and Ohno and Wakabayashi. Kawasaki and Oyama obtained an analogous formulas for finite multiple zeta and zeta-star values. In this paper, we give a generalization of Kawasaki and Oyama's results.
We introduce an algebraic formulation of cyclic sum formulas for multiple zeta values and for multiple zeta-star values. We also present an algebraic proof of cyclic sum formulas for multiple zeta values and for multiple zeta-star values by reducing them to Kawashima relation.
We prove an identity for multiple zeta star values, which generalises some identities due to Imatomi, Tanaka, Tasaka and Wakabayashi. This identity gives an analogue of cyclic insertion type identities, for multiple zeta star values, and connects the block decomposition with Zhao's generalised 2-1 formula.
We consider a cyclic analogue of multiple zeta values (CMZVs), which has two kinds of expressions; series and integral expression. We prove an `integral$=$series' type identity for CMZVs. By using this identity, we construct two classes of $\mathbb{Q}$-linear relations among CMZVs. One of them is a generalization of the cyclic sum formula for multiple zeta-star values. We also give an alternative proof of the derivation relation for multiple zeta values.
The $t$-adic symmetric multiple zeta values were defined Jarossay, which have been studied as a real analogue of $\boldsymbol{p}$-adic finite multiple zeta values. In this paper, we consider the star analogues based on several regularization processes of multiple zeta-star values: harmonic regularization, shuffle regularization, and Kaneko-Yamamoto's type regularization. We also present the cyclic sum formula for $t$-adic symmetric multiple zeta(-star) values, which is the counterpart of that for $\boldsymbol{p}$-adic finite multiple zeta(-star) values obtained by Kawasaki. The proof uses our …
In this paper, we give identities involving cyclic sums of regularized multiple zeta values of depth less than $5$. As a corollary, we present two kinds of extensions of Hoffman's theorem for symmetric sums of multiple zeta values for this case.
In this paper, we shall show that certain signed cyclic sums of Mordell-Tornheim L-values are rational linear combinations of products of multiple L-values of lower depths (i.e., reducible). This simultaneously generalizes some results of Subbarao and Sitaramachandrarao, and Matsumoto et al. As a direct corollary, we can prove that for any integer k>2 and positive integer n, the Mordell-Tornheim sums zeta_\MT(\{n\}_k) is reducible.
We prove the cyclic sum formulas for certain two-parameter multiple series. These are new and non-trivial generalizations of the cyclic sum formulas for multiple zeta values and multiple zeta-star values.
The cyclic insertion conjecture of Borwein, Bradley, Broadhurst and Lisoněk states that by inserting all cyclic permutations of some initial blocks of 2's into the multiple zeta value $ ζ(1,3,\ldots,1,3) $ and summing, one obtains an explicit rational multiple of a power of $ π$. Hoffman gives a conjectural identity of a similar flavour concerning $ 2 ζ(3,3,\{2\}^m) - ζ(3,\{2\}^m,(1,2)) $. In this paper we introduce the 'generalised cyclic insertion conjecture', which we describe using a new combinatorial structure on iterated integrals -- the so-called alternating block decomposition. We see …
The multiple zeta values are generalizations of the values of the Riemann zeta function at positive integers. They are known to satisfy a number of relations, among which are the cyclic sum formula. The cyclic sum formula can be stratified via linear operators defined by the second and third authors. We give the number of relations belonging to each stratum by combinatorial arguments.
We describe an algorithm to compute the zeta function of a cyclic cover of the projective line over a finite field of characteristic $p$ that runs in time $p^{1/2 + o(1)}$. We confirm its practicality and effectiveness by reporting on the performance of our SageMath implementation on a range of examples. The algorithm relies on Gonçalves's generalization of Kedlaya's algorithm for cyclic covers, and Harvey's work on Kedlaya's algorithm for large characteristic.
We define polynomials of one variable t whose values at t=0 and 1 are the multiple zeta values and the multiple zeta-star values, respectively. We give an application to the two-one conjecture of Ohno-Zudilin, and also prove the cyclic sum formula for these polynomials.
We give a parameterized generalization of the sum formula for quadruple zeta values. The generalization has four parameters, and is invariant under a cyclic group of order four. By substituting special values for the parameters, we also obtain weighted sum formulas for quadruple zeta values, which contain some known results.
We study a polynomial interpolation of finite multiple zeta and zeta-star values with variable $t$, which is an analogue of interpolated multiple zeta values introduced by Yamamoto. We introduce several relations among them and, in particular, prove the cyclic sum formula, the Bowman-Bradley type formula, and the weighted sum formula. The harmonic relation, the shuffle relation, the duality relation, and the derivation relation are also presented.
Multiple zeta values (MZVs) with certain repeated arguments or certain sums of cyclically generated MZVs are evaluated as rational multiple of powers of $π^2$. In this paper, we give a short and simple proof of the remarkable evaluations of MZVs established by D. Borman and D. M. Bradley.
We exhibit a quantum algorithm for determining the zeta function of a genus g curve over a finite field F_q, which is polynomial in g and log(q). This amounts to giving an algorithm to produce provably random elements of the class group of a curve, plus a recipe for recovering a Weil polynomial from enough of its cyclic resultants. The latter effectivizes a result of Fried in a restricted setting.
The derivation relation is a well known relation among multiple zeta values, which was first obtained by Ihara, Kaneko and Zagier. The analogous formula for finite multiple zeta values, which we call the derivation relation for finite multiple zeta values, was conjectured by the third author and proved by the second author. In this paper, we show these two kinds of derivation relations are respectively equivalent to the Ohno type relations for multiple zeta values and finite multiple zeta values. We also reprove these derivation relations in several different ways.
We know at least two ways to generalize multiple zeta(-star) values, or MZ(S)Vs for short, which are $q$-analogue and $t$-interpolation. The $q$-analogue of MZ(S)Vs, or $q$MZ(S)Vs for short, was introduced by Bradley, Okuda and Takeyama, Zhao, etc. On the other hand, the polynomials interpolating MZVs and MZSVs using a parameter $t$ were introduced by Yamamoto. We call these $t$-MZVs. In this paper, we consider such two generalizations simultaneously, that is, we compose polynomials, called $t$-$q$MZVs, interpolating $q$MZVs and $q$MZSVs using a parameter $t$ which are reduced to $q$MZVs as $t…
We use multiple zeta functions to prove, under suitable assumptions, precise asymptotic formulas for the averages of multivariable multiplicative functions. As applications, we prove some conjectures on the average number of cyclic subgroups of the group ${\mathbb Z}_{m_1}\times\dots\times {\mathbb Z}_{m_n}$ and multivariable averages associated with the LCM function.
T. Ito defined an analog of the Arakawa-Kaneko zeta function to obtain relations among Mordell-Tornheim multiple zeta values. In this paper, we develop two things related to an analog of the Arakawa-Kaneko zeta function. One is to find an analog of the Arakawa-Kaneko zeta function of Miyagawa-type (defined by T. Miyagawa) and to obtain a relation among Miyagawa-type MZVs. The other is to find a class of zeta functions to which Ito's zeta functions of the case of general index are related.
We prove the Ohno-type relation for the interpolated multiple zeta values, which was introduced first by Yamamoto. Same type results for finite multiple zeta values are also given. Moreover, these relations give the sum formula for interpolated multiple zeta values and interpolated $\mathcal{F}$-multiple zeta values, which were proved by Yamamoto and Seki, respectively.
Ohno's relation is a well-known relation among multiple zeta values. In this paper, we prove Ohno-type relation for finite multiple zeta values, which is conjectured by Kaneko. As a corollary, we give an alternative proof of the sum formula for finite multiple zeta values, which was first proved by Saito and Wakabayashi.
Interpolated multiple zeta values can be regarded as interpolation polynomials of multiple zeta values and multiple zeta-star values. In this paper, we give some algebraic relations of interpolated multiple zeta values, such as the symmetric sum formula, the shuffle regularized sum formula, a weighted sum formula and some evaluation formulas with even arguments. All the algebraic relations provided in this paper are deduced from the extended double shuffle relations.
We consider the problem of deducing the duality relation from the extended double shuffle relation for multiple zeta values. Especially we prove that the duality relation for double zeta values and that for the sum of multiple zeta values whose first components are 2's are deduced from the derivation relation, which is known as a subclass of the extended double shuffle relation.
In this paper, the extended double shuffle relations for interpolated multiple zeta values are established. As an application, Hoffman's relations for interpolated multiple zeta values are proved. Furthermore, a generating function for sums of interpolated multiple zeta values of fixed weight, depth and height is represented by hypergeometric functions, and we discuss some special cases.
Ohno's relation gives a large family of relations of the multiple zeta values. We shall show functional relations of generating functions of Ohno's relation. With these relations we present a new proof of Ohno's relation.
We prove some relations for the $q$-multiple zeta values ($q$MZV). They are $q$-analogues of the cyclic sum formula, the Ohno relation and the Ohno-Zagier relation for the multiple zeta values (MZV). We discuss the problem to determine the dimension of the space spanned by $q$MZV's over $\Q$, and present an application to MZV.
The cyclic insertion conjecture of Borwein, Bradley, Broadhurst and Lisoněk states that inserting all cyclic shifts of some fixed blocks of 2's into the multiple zeta value ζ(1,3,...,1,3) gives an explicit rational multiple of a power of π. In this paper we use motivic multiple zeta values to establish a non-explicit symmetric insertion result: inserting all possible permutations of some fixed blocks of 2's into ζ(1,3,...,1,3) gives some rational multiple of a power of π.
Ihara, Kaneko, and Zagier proved the derivation relation for multiple zeta values. The first named author obtained its counterpart for finite multiple zeta values in $\mathcal{A}$. In this paper, we present its generalization in $\mathcal{A}_{n}$.
In this paper we consider iterated integrals of multiple polylogarithm functions and prove some explicit relations of multiple polylogarithm functions. Then we apply the relations obtained to find numerous formulas of alternating multiple zeta values in terms of unit-exponent alternating multiple zeta values. In particular, we prove several conjectures given by Borwein-Bradley-Broadhurst \cite{BBBL1997}, and give some general results. Furthermore, we discuss Kaneko-Yamamoto multiple zeta values, and establish some relations between it and multiple zeta values. Finally, we establish a linear re…
We treat desingularized multiple zeta-functions introduced by Furusho, Komori, Matsumoto and Tsumura. In this paper, we prove functional relations, which are shuffle type product formulae, between desingularized multiple zeta-functions and desingularized values.
The Ohno relation is a well known relation in the theory of multiple zeta values. Recently, Seki and Yamamoto introduced a connector method and gave its succinct proof. On the other hand, Igarashi obtained the generalization of the Ohno relation for parametrized multiple zeta series. In this paper, we give new connectors to simplify his proof.
Symmetric multiple zeta values (SMZVs) are elements in the ring of all multiple zeta values modulo the ideal generated by $ζ(2)$ introduced by Kaneko-Zagier as counterparts of finite multiple zeta values. It is known that symmetric multiple zeta values satisfy double shuffle relations and duality relations. In this paper, we construct certain lifts of SMZVs which live in the ring generated by all multiple zeta values and $2πi$ as certain iterated integrals on $\mathbb{P}^{1}\setminus\{0,1,\infty\}$ along a certain closed path. We call this lifted values as refined symmetric multiple zeta value…
We show that the duality relation for the sum of multiple zeta values with fixed weight, depth and $k_1$ is deduced from the derivation relations, which was first conjectured by N. Kawasaki and T. Tanaka.
In this paper, we prove that certain parametrized multiple series which generalize multiple zeta values satisfy the same relation as Ohno's relation for multiple zeta values. This is a parametrized generalization of Ohno's relation for multiple zeta values. By virtue of this generalization, we obtain a certain equivalence between the relation for the parametrized multiple series and its subfamily. As applications of the above results, we obtain some results for multiple zeta values.
We take another look at the so-called quasi-derivation relations in the theory of multiple zeta values, by giving a certain formula for the quasi-derivation operator. In doing so, we are not only able to prove the quasi-derivation relations in a simpler manner but also give an analog of the quasi-derivation relations for finite multiple zeta values.
In this paper, we generalize the partial fraction decomposition which is fundamental in the theory of multiple zeta values, and prove a relation between Tornheim's double zeta functions of three complex variables. As applications, we give new integral representations of several zeta functions, an extension of the parity result to the whole domain of convergence, concrete expressions of Tornheim's double zeta function at non-positive integers and some results for the behavior of a certain Witten's zeta function at each integer. As an appendix, we show a functional equation for Euler's double ze…
We construct a certain class of Arakawa--Kaneko zeta-functions associated with $GL_2(\mathbb{C})$, which includes the ordinary Arakawa--Kaneko zeta-function. We also define poly-Bernoulli polynomials associated with $GL_2(\mathbb{C})$ which appear in their special values of these zeta-functions. We prove some functional relations for these zeta-functions, which are regarded as interpolation formulas of various relations among poly-Bernoulli numbers. Considering their special values, we prove difference relations and duality relations for poly-Bernoulli polynomials associated with $GL_2(\mathbb…
Two classes of relations for multiple zeta values are handled algebraically. A restricted sum formula is proved by Eie, Liaw and Ong. The derivation relation is proved by Ihara, Kaneko and Zagier. In this paper we show the latter implies the former.
We give new proofs of two functional relations for the alternating analogues of Tornheim's double zeta function. Using the functional relations, we give new proofs of some evaluation formulas found by H. Tsumura for these alternating series.
This paper contains examples of shuffle relations among multiple Dedekind zeta values. Dedekind zeta values were defined by the author in his paper "Multiple Dedekind zeta functions". Here we concentrate on the cases of real or imaginary quadratic fields with up to double iteration. We give examples of integral shuffle relation in terms of iterated integrals over membranes and of infinite sum shuffle relation, sometimes called stuffle relation. Using both types of shuffles for the product $ζ_{K,C}(2)ζ_{K,C}(2)$, we find relations among multiple Dedekind zeta values for real and for imaginary q…
We obtain a class of quadratic relations for a q-analogue of multiple zeta values (qMZV's). In the limit q->1, it turns into Kawashima's relation for multiple zeta values. As a corollary we find that qMZV's satisfy the linear relation contained in Kawashima's relation. In the proof we make use of a q-analogue of Newton series and Bradley's duality formula for finite multiple harmonic q-series.
The duality relation is a basic family of linear relations for multiple zeta values. The extended double shuffle relation (EDSR) is one of the families of relations expected to generate all linear relations among multiple zeta values, but it remains unclear as to whether all duality relations can be deduced from the EDSR. In the present paper, regarding the family generated by the duality relation and the family generated by the derivation relation, an explicit characterization of their intersection is obtained. Here, the derivation relation is a specialization of the EDSR.
In this note, by using several ideas of other researchers, we derive several relations among multiple zeta-star values from the hypergeometric identities of C. Krattenthaler and T. Rivoal.
We establish finite analogues of the identities known as the Aoki-Ohno relation and the Le-Murakami relation in the theory of multiple zeta values. We use an explicit form of a generating series given by Aoki and Ohno.
We study a refinement of the symmetric multiple zeta value, called the $t$-adic symmetric multiple zeta value, by considering its finite truncation. More precisely, two kinds of regularizations (harmonic and shuffle) give two kinds of the $t$-adic symmetric multiple zeta values, thus we introduce two kinds of truncations correspondingly. Then we show that our truncations tend to the corresponding $t$-adic symmetric multiple zeta values, and satisfy the harmonic and shuffle relations, respectively. This gives a new proof of the double shuffle relations for $t$-adic symmetric multiple zeta value…
We prove new relations on zeta function at even arguments and Dirichlet $L$ function at odd. The key idea is to make use of the Taylor series and partial fraction decomposition of cotangent and secant functions as we discuss in calculus and complex analysis.
Extended double shuffle relations for multiple zeta values are obtained by the fact that any product of regularized multiple zeta values has two different representations, and the case of two-fold product is considered in general. In this paper, we give two formulas for the generating function of the triple zeta values of any fixed weight by the use of the extended double shuffle relations obtained by not only two-fold products of double and single zeta values but also three-fold products of single zeta values. As applications of the formulas, we also obtain some parameterized, weighted and re…
The Ohno relation for multiple zeta values can be formulated as saying that a certain operator, defined for indices, is invariant under taking duals. In this paper, we generalize the Ohno relation to regularized multiple zeta values by showing that, although the suitably generalized operator is not invariant under taking duals, the relation between its values at an index and at its dual index can be written explicitly in terms of the gamma function.
In this paper, we settle the problem posed by Singer which is on a comparison problem between the renormalized values of shuffle type and of harmonic type of multiple zeta functions.
In 2007 Chang and Yu determined all the algebraic relations among Goss's zeta values for the rational function field - these are also known as the Carlitz zeta values. Goss raised the problem about algebraic relations among Goss's zeta values for a general base ring A, but very little is known. In this paper we develop a general method and determine all algebraic relations among Goss's zeta values for the base ring A attached to an elliptic curve over a finite field. To our knowledge, these are the first non-trivial solutions of Goss's problem for a base ring whose class number is strictly gre…
In this paper, we give a simple proof of the functional relation for the Lerch type Tornheim double zeta function. By using it, we obtain simple proofs of some explicit evaluation formulas for double $L$-values.
Kawashima's relation is conjecturally one of the largest classes of relations among multiple zeta values. Gaku Kawashima introduced and studied a certain Newton series, which we call the Kawashima function, and deduced his relation by establishing several properties of this function. We present a new approach to the Kawashima function without using Newton series. We first establish a generalization of the theory of regularizations of divergent multiple zeta values to Hurwitz type multiple zeta values, and then relate it to the Kawashima function. Via this connection, we can prove a key propert…
In this paper, we study specific families of multiple zeta values which closely relate to the linear part of Kawashima's relation. We obtain an explicit basis of these families, and investigate their interpolations to complex functions. As a corollary of our main results, we also see that the duality formula and the derivation relation are deduced from the linear part of Kawashima's relation.
