This text gives some results about quantum torsors. Our starting point is an old reformulation of torsors recalled recently by Kontsevich. We propose an unification of the definitions of torsors in algebraic geometry and in Poisson geometry. Any quantum torsor is equipped with two comodule-algebra structures over Hopf algebras and these structures commute with each other. In the finite dimensional case, these two Hopf algebras share the same finite dimension. We show that any Galois extension of a field is a torsor and that any torsor is a Hopf-Galois extension. We give also examples of non-commutative torsors without character. Torsors can be composed. This leads us to define a new group-invariant, its torsors invariant. We show how Parmentier's quantization formalism of "affine Poisson groups" is part of our theory of torsors.
We give a definition of a noncommutative torsor by a subset of the axioms previously given by Grunspan. We show that noncommutative torsors are an equivalent description of Hopf-Galois objects (without specifying the Hopf algebra). In particular, this shows that the endomorphism of a torsor featuring in Grunspan's definition is redundant.
In an earlier paper of the author, locally compact quantum torsors were defined for locally compact quantum groups, putting into the analytic framework the theory of Galois objects for Hopf algebras. Such quantum torsors allow to deform the given quantum group, providing a generalization of the 2-cocycle twisting procedure. It was also shown that a quantum torsor can be constructed from an action of the dual quantum group on a type I-factor. In this paper, we study quantum torsors which are themselves type I-factors. These I-factorial quantum torsors turn out to have a nice duality theory. We …
We introduce and study non-abelian cohomology sets of Hopf algebras with coefficients in Hopf comodule algebras. We prove that these sets generalize as well Serre's non-abelian group cohomology theory as the cohomological theory constructed by the authors in a previous article. We establish their functoriality and compute explicit examples. Further we classify Hopf torsors.
We introduce a notion of I-factorial quantum torsor, which consists of an integrable ergodic action of a locally compact quantum group on a type I-factor such that also the crossed product is a type I-factor. We show that any such I-factorial quantum torsor is at the same time a I-factorial quantum torsor for the dual locally compact quantum group, in such a way that the construction is involutive. As a motivating example, we show that quantized compact semisimple Lie groups, when amplified via a crossed product construction with the function algebra on the associated weight lattice, admit I-f…
Non-commutative torsors (equivalently, two-cocycles) for a Hopf algebra can be used to twist comodule algebras. After surveying and extending the literature on the subject, we prove a theorem that affords a presentation by generators and relations for the algebras obtained by such twisting. We give a number of examples, including new constructions of the quantum affine spaces and the quantum tori.
To any cleft Hopf Galois object, i.e., any algebra H[t] obtained from a Hopf algebra H by twisting its multiplication with a two-cocycle t, we attach two "universal algebras" A(H,t) and U(H,t). The algebra A(H,t) is obtained by twisting the multiplication of H with the most general two-cocycle u formally cohomologous to t. The cocycle u takes values in the field of rational functions on H. By construction, A(H,t) is a cleft H-Galois extension of a "big" commutative algebra B(H,t). Any "form" of H[t] can be obtained from A(H,t) by a specialization of B(H,t) and vice versa. If the algebra H[t] i…
In this paper, our objects of interest are Hopf Galois extensions (e.g., Hopf algebras, Galois field extensions, strongly graded algebras, crossed products, principal bundles, etc.) and families of noncommutative rings (e.g., skew polynomial rings, PBW extensions and skew PBW extensions, etc.). We collect and systematize questions, problems, properties and recent advances in both theories by explicitly developing examples and doing calculations that are usually omitted in the literature. In particular, for Hopf Galois extensions we consider approaches from the point of view of quantum torsors …
We construct the join of noncommutative Galois objects (quantum torsors) over a Hopf algebra H. To ensure that the join algebra enjoys the natural (diagonal) coaction of H, we braid the tensor product of the Galois objects. Then we show that this coaction is principal. Our examples are built from the noncommutative torus with the natural free action of the classical torus, and arbitrary anti-Drinfeld doubles of finite-dimensional Hopf algebras. The former yields a noncommutative deformation of a non-trivial torus bundle, and the latter a finite quantum covering.
In previous joint work with Eli Aljadeff we attached a generic Hopf Galois extension A(H,c) to each twisted algebra H(c) obtained from a Hopf algebra H by twisting its product with the help of a cocycle c. The algebra A(H,c) is a flat deformation of H(c) over a "big" central subalgebra B(H,c) and can be viewed as the noncommutative analogue of a versal torsor in the sense of Serre. After surveying the results on A(H,c) obtained with Aljadeff, we establish three new results: we present a systematic method to construct elements of the commutative algebra B(H,c), we show that a certain important …
The aim of this paper is to introduce and to investigate the analogues of torsors for compact quantum groups and to study their role in representation theory. Let A be a unitarizable Hopf *-algebra: we show that there is a category equivalence between *-fibre functors on unitary A-comodules and A-*-Galois extension endowed with a positive Haar measure.
For any finite-dimensional Hopf algebra $A$ there exists a natural associative algebra homomorphism $D(A) \to H(A)$ between its Drinfeld double $D(A)$ and its Heisenberg double $H(A)$. We construct this homomorphism using a pair of commuting quantum moment maps, and then use it to provide a homomorphism of certain reflection equation algebras. We also explain how the quantization of the Grothendieck-Springer resolution arises in this context.
We give a systematic construction of Hopf algebra structures on braided cofree coalgebras. The relevant underlying structures are braided algebras and braided coalgebras. We provide some interesting examples of these algebras and coalgebras related to quantum groups. We introduce quantum multi-brace algebras which are generalizations of both braided algebras and $\textbf{B}_\infty$-algebras, as the natural framework. This new subject enables one to quantize some important algebra structures in a uniform way. Particular interesting examples are quantum quasi-shuffle algebras.
We define an algebra $\mathcal{U}_0$ using a simplified set of generators for the quantum toroidal algebra $U_q(sl_{n+1}, tor)$ and show that there exists an epimorphism from $\mathcal{U}_0$ to $U_q(sl_{n+1}, tor)$. We derive a closed formula of the comultiplication on the generators of $\mathcal{U}_0$ that extends that of the quantum affine algebra $U_q(\hat{sl}_{n+1})$. As a consequence, we show that $\mathcal{U}_0$ is a Hopf algebra for $n=1, 2$ and give conjectural formulas in the general case. We further show that $\mathcal{U}_0$ is isomorphic to a double algebra.
This paper examines a general method for producing twists of a comodule algebra by tensoring it with a torsor then taking co-invariants. We examine the properties that pass from the original algebra to the twisted algebra and vice versa. We then examine the special case where the algebra is a 4-dimensional Sklyanin algebra viewed as a comodule algebra over the Hopf algebra of functions on the non-cyclic group of order 4 with the torsor being the 2x2 matrix algebra. The twisted algebra is an "exotic elliptic algebra". We show that the twisted algebra has many of the good properties that the Skl…
We construct multi-brace cotensor Hopf algebras with bosonizations of quantum multi-brace algebras as examples. Quantum quasi-symmetric algebras are then obtained by taking particular initial data; this allows us to realize the whole quantum group associated to a symmetrizable Kac-Moody Lie algebra as a quantum quasi-symmetric algebra and all highest weight irreducible representations can be constructed using this machinery. It also provides a systematic way to construct simple modules over the quantum double of a quantum group.
A new quantization of groupoids under the name of \times-Hopf coalgebras is introduced. We develop a Hopf cyclic theory with coefficients in stable-anti-Yetter-Drinfeld modules for \times-Hopf coalgebras. We use \times-Hopf coalgebras to study coextensions of coalgebras. Finally, equivariant \times-Hopf coalgebra Galois coextensions are defined and applied as functors between categories of stable anti-Yetter-Drinfeld modules over \times-Hopf coalgebras involved in the coextension.
In this paper, we present an approach to the definition of multiparameter quantum groups by studying Hopf algebras with triangular decomposition. Classifying all of these Hopf algebras which are of what we call weakly separable type over a group, we obtain a class of pointed Hopf algebras which can be viewed as natural generalizations of multiparameter deformations of universal enveloping algebras of Lie algebras. These Hopf algebras are instances of a new version of braided Drinfeld doubles, which we call asymmetric braided Drinfeld doubles. This is a generalization of an earlier result by Be…
In this paper we present solutions to the non-commutative geometrical version of the Yang-Mills-Scalar-Matter theory in the Hopf fibration using the $3D$--calculus.
In this work we study some properties of comldules over (non-cosemisimple) Hopf algebras possessing integrals, which are also called co-Frobenius Hopf algebras. We apply the result obtained to the classification of representations of quantum groups of type $A_{0|0}$.
This paper defines a pairing of two finite Hopf C*-algebras $A$ and $B$, and investigates the interactions between them. If the pairing is non-degenerate, then the quantum double construction is given. This construction yields a new finite Hopf C*-algebra $D(A,B)$. The canonical embedding maps of $A$ and $B$ into the double are both isometric.
In this paper we construct and study the representation theory of a Hopf C^*-algebra with approximate unit, which constitutes quantum analogue of a compact group C^*-algebra. The construction is done by first introducing a convolution-product on an arbitrary Hopf algebra H with integral, and then constructing the L_2 and C^*-envelopes of H (with the new convolution-product) when H is a compact Hopf *-algebra.
We describe a locally trivial quantum principal U(1)-bundle over the quantum space S^2_{pq} which is a noncommutative analogue of the usual Hopf bundle. We also provide results concerning the structure of its total space algebra (irreducible *-representations and topological K-groups) and its Galois aspects (Galois property, existence of a strong connection, non-cleftness).
For a commutative algebra the shuffle product is a morphism of complexes. We generalize this result to the quantum shuffle product, associated to a class of non-commutative algebras (for example all the Hopf algebras). As a first application we show that the Hochschild-Serre identity is the dual statement of our result. In particular, we extend this identity to Hopf algebras. Secondly, we clarify the construction of a class of quasi-Hopf algebras.
With the motivation of giving a more precise estimation of the quantum Brauer group of a Hopf algebra $H$ over a field $k$ we construct an exact sequence containing the quantum Brauer group of a Hopf algebra in a certain braided monoidal category. Let $B$ be a Hopf algebra in $\C=_H ^H\YD$, the category of Yetter-Drinfel'd modules over $H$. We consider the quantum Brauer group $\BQ(\C; B)$ of $B$ in $\C$, which is isomorphic to the usual quantum Brauer group $\BQ(k; B\rtimes H)$ of the Radford biproduct Hopf algebra $B\rtimes H$. We show that under certain symmetricity condition on the braidin…
We give a detailed comparison between the notion of a weak Hopf algebra (also called a quantum groupoid by Nikshych and Vainerman), and that of a $\times_R$-bialgebra due to Takeuchi (and also called a bialgebroid or quantum (semi)groupoid by Lu and Xu). A weak bialgebra is the same thing as a $\times_R$-bialgebra in which $R$ is Frobenius-separable. We extend the comparison to cover module and comodule theory, duality, and the question when a bialgebroid should be called a Hopf algebroid.
The paper presents applications of Toeplitz algebras in Noncommutative Geometry. As an example, a quantum Hopf fibration is given by gluing trivial U(1) bundles over quantum discs (or, synonymously, Toeplitz algebras) along their boundaries. The construction yields associated quantum line bundles over the generic Podles spheres which are isomorphic to those from the well-known Hopf fibration of quantum SU(2). The relation between these two versions of quantum Hopf fibrations is made precise by giving an isomorphism in the category of right U(1)-comodules and left modules over the C*-algebra of…
We propose a formulation of the quantization problem of Manin quadruples, and show that a solution to this problem yields a quantization of the corresponding Poisson homogeneous spaces. We then solve both quantization problems in an example related to quantum spheres.
We show that the Ehresmann-Schauenburg bialgebroid of a quantum principal bundle $P$ or Hopf Galois extension with structure quantum group $H$ is in fact a left Hopf algebroid $L(P,H)$. We show further that if $H$ is coquasitriangular then $L(P,H)$ has an antipode map $S$ obeying certain minimal axioms. Trivial quantum principal bundles or cleft Hopf Galois extensions with base $B$ are known to be cocycle cross products $B\#_σH$ for a cocycle-action pair ($\vartriangleright$,$σ$) and we look at these of a certain `associative type' where $ \vartriangleright$ is an actual action. In this case a…
We investigate a Hopf algebra structure on the cotensor coalgebra associated to a Hopf bimodule algebra which contains universal version of Clifford algebras and quantum groups as examples. It is shown to be the bosonization of the quantum quasi-shuffle algebra built on the space of its right coinvariants. The universal property and a Rota-Baxter algebra structure are established on this new algebra.
We provide an analog of Tannaka Theory for Hopf algebras in the context of crossed Hopf group coalgebras introduced by Turaev. Following Street and our previous work on the quantum double of crossed structures, we give a construction, via Tannaka Theory, of the quantum double of crossed Hopf group algebras (not necessarily of finite type).
We construct a class of non-commutative, non-cocommutative, semisimple Hopf algebras of dimension $2n^2$ and present conditions to define an inner faithful action of these Hopf algebras on quantum polynomial algebras, providing, in this way, more examples of semisimple Hopf actions which do not factor through group actions. Also, under certain condition, we classify the inner faithful Hopf actions of the Kac-Paljutkin Hopf algebra of dimension $8$, $H_8$, on the quantum plane.
We show that the Kac-Paljutkin Hopf algebra appears as a quotient of $C(SU_{-1}(2))$, which means that the corresponding quantum group $G_{KP}$ can be regarded as a quantum subgroup of $SU_{-1}(2)$. We combine the fact that corepresentation category of the Kac-Paljutkin Hopf algebra is a Tambara-Yamagami tensor category associated with the Krein 4-group and the method of graded twisting of Hopf algebras, to construct the Hopf *-homomorphism.
Starting from a Hopf algebra endowed with an action of a group G by Hopf automorphisms, we construct (by a twisted double method) a quasitriangular Hopf G-coalgebra. This method allows us to obtain non-trivial examples of quasitriangular Hopf G-coalgebras for any finite group G and for infinite groups G such as GL(n,K). In particular, we define the graded quantum groups.
We study representations of nilpotent type nontrivial liftings of quantum linear spaces and their Drinfel'd quantum doubles. We construct a family of Verma- type modules in both cases and prove a parametrization theorem for simple modules. We compute the Loewy and socle series of Verma modules under a mild restriction on the datum of a lifting. We find bases and dimensions of simple modules.
Let $D(H)$ be the quantum double associated to a finite dimensional quasi-Hopf algebra $H$. In this note, we first generalize a result of Majid, stating that a finite dimensional Hopf algebra $H$ is quasitriangular if and only if there is a projection of the quantum double $D(H)$ onto $H$ covering the natural inclusion. We then prove that the quantum double of a finite dimensional quasitriangular quasi-Hopf algebra is a biproduct.
We propose the following principle to study pointed Hopf algebras, or more generally, Hopf algebras whose coradical is a Hopf subalgebra. Given such a Hopf algebra A, consider its coradical filtration and the associated graded coalgebra grad(A). Then grad(A) is a graded Hopf algebra, since the coradical A_0 of A is a Hopf subalgebra. In addition, there is a projection π: grad(A) \to A_0; let R be the algebra of coinvariants of π. Then, by a result of Radford and Majid, R is a braided Hopf algebra and grad(A) is the bosonization (or biproduct) of R and A_0: grad(A) is isomorphic to (R # A_0). T…
It is shown that every quantum principal bundle with a compact structure group is a Hopf-Galois extension. This property naturally extends to the level of general differential structures, so that every differential calculus over a quantum principal bundle with a compact structure group is a graded-differential variant of the Hopf-Galois extension.
Using the standard filtration associated with a generalized lifting method, we determine all finite-dimensional Hopf algebras over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero whose coradical generates a Hopf subalgebra isomorphic to the smallest non-pointed non-cosemisimple Hopf algebra ${\mathcal{K}}$ and the corresponding infinitesimal module is an indecomposable object in ${}^{\mathcal{K}}_{\mathcal{K}}\mathcal{YD}$ (we assume that the diagrams are Nichols algebras). As a byproduct, we obtain new Nichols algebras of dimension 8 and new Hopf algebras of dimension 64.
We introduce the notion of Hopf algebroids, in which neither the total algebras nor the base algebras are required to be commutative. We give a class of Hopf algebroids associated to module algebras of the Drinfeld doubles of Hopf algebras when the $R$-matrices act properly. When this construction is applied to quantum groups, we get examples of quantum groupoids, which are semi-classical limits of Poisson groupoids. The example of quantum $sl(2)$ is worked out in details.
We summarize the definition of the Weyl groupoid using supercategory approach in order to investigate quantum superalgebras at roots of unity. We show how the structure of a Hopf superalgebra on a quantum superalgebra is determined by the quantum Weyl groupoid. The Weyl groupoid of $\mathfrak{sl}(m|n)$ is constructed to this end as some supercategory. We prove that in this case quantum superalgebras associated with Dynkin diagrams are isomorphic as superalgebras. It is shown how these quantum superalgebras considered as Hopf superalgebras are connected via twists and isomorphisms. We explicitl…
In \cite{F} there is a statement generalizing the results in \cite{FG}. Unfortunately there is a mistake in a computation that affects the main result. I don't know if the main result in \cite{F} is true or not, but I propose an alternative statement (Theorem 3.7) that was actually the main motivation in \cite{FG}. This statement answers in an affirmative way the question whether the localization of the FRT construction with respect to a quantum determinant is a Hopf algebra, in case the Nichols algebra associated to the braiding is finite dimensional.
We propose a new mwthod of constructing 4D-TQFTs. The method uses a new type of algebraic structure called a Hopf Category. We also outline the construction of a family of Hopf categories related to the quantum groups, using the canonical bases.
The nonsemisimple quantum Cayley-Klein groups $ Fun(SU_{q}(2;\bf j}) $ are realized as Hopf algebra of the noncommutative functions with the dual (or Study) variables. The {\it dual} quantum algebras $ su_q(2;{\bf j}) $ are constructed and their isomorphisms with the corresponding quantum orthogonal algebras $ so_q(3;{\bf j}) $ are established. The possible couplings of the Cayley-Klein and Hopf structures are considered.
To every Hopf heap or quantum cotorsor of Grunspan a Hopf algebra of translations is associated. This translation Hopf algebra acts on the Hopf heap making it a Hopf-Galois co-object. Conversely, any Hopf-Galois co-object has the natural structure of a Hopf heap with the translation Hopf algebra isomorphic to the acting Hopf algebra. It is then shown that this assignment establishes an equivalence between categories of Hopf heaps and Hopf-Galois co-objects.
The search for elliptic quantum groups leads to a modified quantum Yang-Baxter relation and to a special class of quasi-triangular quasi Hopf algebras. This paper calculates deformations of standard quantum groups (with or without spectral parameter) in the category of quasi-Hopf algebras. An earlier investigation of the deformations of quantum groups, in the category of Hopf algebras, showed that quantum groups are generically rigid: Hopf algebra deformations exist only under some restrictions on the parameters. In particular, affine Kac-Moody algebras are more rigid than their loop algebra q…
We show that the matrix embeddings in Bratteli diagrams are iterated direct sums of Hopf-Galois extensions (quantum principle bundles) for certain abelian groups. The corresponding strong universal connections are computed. We show that $ M_{n}(\mathbb{C})$ is a trivial quantum principle bundle for the Hopf algebra $ \mathbb{C}[\mathbb{Z}_{n} \times \mathbb{Z}_{n}] $. We conclude with an application relating known calculi on groups to calculi on matrices.
In the framework of the Drinfeld theory of twists in Hopf algebras we construct quantum matrix algebras which generalize the Reflection Equation and the RTT algebras. Finite-dimensional representations of these algebras related to the theory of nonultralocal spin chains are presented. The Cayley-Hamilton-Newton identities are demonstrated. These identities allow to define the quantum spectrum for the quantum matrices. We mention possible applications of the new quantum matrix algebras to constructions of noncommutative analogs of Minkowski space and quantum Poincaré algebras.
We define and investigate pairings of multiplier Hopf algebras. It is shown that two dually paired regular multiplier Hopf ($*$-)algebras $A$ and $B$ yield a quantum double multiplier Hopf ($*$-)algebra which is again regular. Integrals on $A$ and $B$ induce an integral on the quantum double. The results generalize pairing and quantum double construction from ordinary Hopf algebras to multiplier Hopf algebras.
We study the Hopf algebra structure of Lusztig's quantum groups. First we show that the zero part is the tensor product of the group algebra of a finite abelian group with the enveloping algebra of an abelian Lie algebra. Second we build them from the plus, minus and zero parts by means of suitable actions and coactions within the formalism presented by Sommerhauser to describe triangular decompositions.
We consider the algebra isomorphism found by Frenkel and Ding between the RLL and the Drinfeld realizations of $U_q(\widehat{gl(2)})$. After we note that this is not a Hopf algebra isomorphism, we prove that there is a unique Hopf algebra structure for the Drinfeld realization so that this isomorphism becomes a Hopf algebra isomorphism. Though more complicated, this Hopf algebra structure is also closed, just as the one found previously by Drinfeld.
The Hopf algebra isomorphism between kappa-Poincare algebra defined by P.Kosinski and P.Maslanka in the case g^{00}=0 and "null plane" quantum Poincare algebra by A.Ballesteros, F.J.Herranz and M.A.del Olmo is defined.
We present examples of color Hopf algebras, i.e. Hopf algebras in color categories (braided tensor categories with braiding induced by a bicharacter on an abelian group), related with quantum doubles of pointed Hopf algebras. We also discuss semisimple color Hopf algebras.
We translate some fundamental properties satisfied by topological principal bundles into the setting of Hopf-Galois extensions. The properties are: functoriality, homotopy, and triviality. The main new concept of the paper is the homotopy equivalence of Hopf-Galois extensions. We work in the particular case where the subalgebra of coinvariants is central but without any restriction on the Hopf algebras coacting on the quantum principal bundle. We examine in detail the case when the Hopf algebra is one of Sweedler or Taft's finite-dimensional Hopf algebras.
