The paper proposes a 4-dimensional generalization of the Hamilton equations of motion to the case of the Minkowski space-time. The approach can be applied to quantum as well as to classical, non-relativistic as well as relativistic problems.
We study semigroups generated by two-dimensional relativistic Hamiltonians with magnetic field. In particular, for compactly supported radial magnetic field we show how the long time behaviour of the associated heat kernel depends on the flux of the field. Similar questions are addressed for Aharonov-Bohm type magnetic field.
In this article we extend the test of Hamiltonian Renormalisation proposed in this series of articles to the D-dimensional case using a massive free scalar field. The concepts we introduce are explicitly computed for the D=2 case but transfer immediately to higher dimensions. In this article we define and verify a criterion that monitors, at finite resolution defined by a cubic lattice, whether the flow approaches a rotationally invariant fixed point.
We introduce a family of $n$-dimensional Hamiltonian systems which, contain, as special reductions, several superintegrable systems as the Tremblay-Turbiner-Winternitz system, a generalized Kepler potential and the anisotropic harmonic oscillator with Rosochatius terms. We conjecture that there exist special values in the space of parameters, apart from those leading to known cases, for which this new Hamiltonian family is superintegrable.
We define the Anderson Hamiltonian H on a two-dimensional manifold using high order paracontrolled calculus. It is a self-adjoint operator with pure point spectrum. We get lower and upper bounds on its eigenvalues which imply an almost sure Weyl-type law for H.
Periodic Hamiltonians on a three-dimensional (3-D) lattice with a spectral gap not only on the bulk but also on two edges at the common Fermi level are considered. By using K-theory applied for the quarter-plane Toeplitz extension, two topological invariants are defined. One is defined for the gapped bulk and edge Hamiltonians, and the non-triviality of the other means that the corner Hamiltonian is gapless. A correspondence between these two invariants is proved. Such gapped Hamiltonians can be constructed from Hamiltonians of 2-D type A and 1-D type AIII topological insulators, and its corne…
We obtain 21 two-dimensional natural Hamiltonian systems with sextic invariants, which are polynomial of the sixth order in momenta. Following to Bertrand, Darboux, and Drach these results of the standard brute force experiments can be applied to construct a new mathematical theory.
In this paper we introduce the bosonic generators of the $sp(4,R)$ algebra and study some of their properties, based on the $SU(1,1)$ and $SU(2)$ group theory. With the developed theory of the $Sp(4,R)$ group, we solve the interaction part of the most general Hamiltonian of a two-level system in two-dimensional geometry in an exact way. As particular cases of this Hamiltonian, we reproduce the solution of earlier problems as the Dirac oscillator and the Jaynes-Cummings model with one and two modes of oscillation.
We give a proof of the convergence of an algorithm for the construction of lower dimensional elliptic tori in nearly integrable Hamiltonian systems. The existence of such invariant tori is proved by leading the Hamiltonian to a suitable normal form. In particular, we adapt the procedure described in a previous work by Giorgilli and co-workers, where the construction was made so as to be used in the context of the planetary problem. We extend the proof of the convergence to the cases in which the two sets of frequencies, describing the motion along the torus and the transverse oscillations, hav…
We show that evolutionary Hirota type Euler-Lagrange equations in (2+1) dimensions have a symplectic Monge-Ampère form. We consider integrable equations of this type in the sense that they admit infinitely many hydrodynamic reductions and determine Lax pairs for them. For two seven-parameter families of integrable equations converted to two-component form we have constructed Lagrangians, recursion operators and bi-Hamiltonian representations. We have also presented a six-parameter family of tri-Hamiltonian systems.
The effective reggeon field theory in zero transverse dimension ("the toy model") is studied. The transcendental equation for eigenvalues of the Hamiltonian of this theory is derived and solved numerically. The found eigenvalues are used for the calculation of the pomeron propagator.
Paper is devoted to maintaining the simple objective: We want to provide Hamiltonian canonical form for autonomous dynamical system reducible to even-dimensional one. Along the road we construct new class of conserved quantities, called effectively conserved, that have dissimilar properties to traditional first integrals (e.g. differential of effectively conserved quantity being a Pfaffian form). We do not confine the discussion to physics; we consider examples from biology and chemistry, giving direct recipe for how to engage the framework in occurring problems. Perspective for future applica…
In this study, the solution of the Hamilton-Jacobi equation (HJE) with holonomic Hamiltonian is investigated in terms of the first integrals of the corresponding Hamiltonian system. Holonomic functions are related to a specific type of partial differential equations called Pfaffian systems, whose solution space can be regarded as a finite-dimensional real vector space. In the finite-dimensional solution space, the existence of first integrals that define a solution of the HJE is characterized by a finite number of algebraic equations for finite-dimensional vectors, which can be easily solved a…
We present a rigorous derivation of the point vortex model starting from the two-dimensional nonlinear Schr{ö}dinger equation, from the Hamiltonian perspective, in the limit of well-separated, subsonic vortices on the background of a spatially-infinite strong condensate. As a corollary, we calculate to high accuracy the self-energy of an isolated elementary Pitaevskii vortex, for the first time.
By coupling a Hamiltonian mechanical system with a linear Hamiltonian field theory one obtains an infinite-dimensional Hamiltonian system with regularizing nonlinearity, where the underlying phase space is given by the product of a finite-dimensional symplectic manifold with an infinite-dimensional linear symplectic Hilbert space. After our compactness results we continue our program for defining a Floer homology theory for this class of infinite-dimensional Hamiltonian systems. Based on the presence of small divisors we introduce a new notion of nondegeneracy for time-periodic solutions which…
We construct all (2+1)-dimensional PDEs depending only on 2nd-order derivatives of unknown which have the Euler-Lagrange form and determine the corresponding Lagrangians. We convert these equations and their Lagrangians to two-component forms and find Hamiltonian representations of all these systems using Dirac's theory of constraints. We consider three-parameter integrable equations that are cubic in partial derivatives of the unknown applying our method of skew factorization of the symmetry condition. Lax pairs and recursion relations for symmetries are determined both for one-component and …
