In this paper we study nonparametric mean curvature type flows in $M\times\mathbb{R}$ which are represented as graphs $(x,u(x,t))$ over a domain in a Riemannian manifold $M$ with prescribed contact angle. The speed of $u$ is the mean curvature speed minus an admissible function $ψ(x,u,Du)$. Long time existence and uniformly convergence are established if $ψ(x,u, Du)\equiv 0$ with vertical contact angle and $ψ(x,u,Du)=h(x,u)ω$ with $h_u(x,u)\geq h_0>0$ and $ω=\sqrt{1+|Du|^2}$. Their applications include mean curvature type equations with prescribed contact angle boundary condition and the asymptotic behavior of nonparametric mean curvature flows of graphs over a convex domain in $M^2$ which is a surface with nonnegative Ricci curvature.
We study asymptotic behavior of nonparametric hypersurfaces moving by $α$ powers of Gauss curvature $α> 1/n$. Our work generalizes the results of V. Oliker [Oli91] for $α= 1$.
In this paper, we can prove the existence of translating solutions to the nonparametric mean curvature flow with nonzero Neumann boundary data in a prescribed product manifold $M^{n}\times\mathbb{R}$, where $M^{n}$ is an $n$-dimensional ($n\geq2$) complete Riemannian manifold with nonnegative Ricci curvature, and $\mathbb{R}$ is the Euclidean $1$-space.
A tensor invariant is defined on a quaternionic contact manifold in terms of the curvature and torsion of the Biquard connection involving derivatives up to third order of the contact form. This tensor, called quaternionic contact conformal curvature, is similar to the Weyl conformal curvature in Riemannian geometry and to the Chern-Moser tensor in CR geometry. It is shown that a quaternionic contact manifold is locally quaternionic contact conformal to the standard flat quaternionic contact structure on the quaternionic Heisenberg group, or equivalently, to the standard 3-sasakian structure o…
We consider an evolving plane curve with two endpoints that can move freely on the $x$-axis with generating constant contact angles. We discuss the asymptotic behavior of global-in-time solutions when the evolution of this plane curve is governed by area-preserving curvature flow equation. The main result shows that any moving curve converges to a traveling wave if the moving curve starts from an embedded convex curve and remains bounded in global time.
We consider the motion by mean curvature of an $n$-dimensional graph over a time-dependent domain in $\mathbb{R}^n$, intersecting $\mathbb{R}^n$ at a constant angle. In the general case, we prove local existence for the corresponding quasilinear parabolic equation with a free boundary, and derive a continuation criterion based on the second fundamental form. If the initial graph is concave, we show this is preserved, and that the solution exists only for finite time. This corresponds to a symmetric version of triple junction motion of hypersurfaces by mean curvature, with constant angles at th…
We study curvature identities on contact metric manifolds on the geometry of the corresponding almost Käehler cones, and we provide applications of the derived curvature identities.

In this paper, we study normal complex contact metric manifolds and we get some general results on them. Moreover, we obtained the general expression of the curvature tensor field for arbitrary vector fields. Furthermore, we show that the necessary and succient conditions to be normal a complex contact metric manifold. Also, we give some new equailities for Ricci curvature of normal complex contact metric manifolds.
Almost contact manifolds with B-metric are considered. Of special interest are the so-called vertical classes of the almost contact B-metric manifolds. Curvature properties of these manifolds are studied. An example of 5-dimensional manifolds is constructed and characterized.
In this paper, we present a classification of $ N(κ)$-contact metric manifolds with using some special flatness conditions on $ \mathcal{T} $-curvature tensor. We examine $\mathcal{T}$-flat, quasi-$\mathcal{T}$-flat, $ ξ$-$\mathcal{T}$-flat and $ φ$-$\mathcal{T}$-flat $ N(κ)$-contact metric manifolds .Also,we consider the conditions $ \mathcal{T}(ξ,X).R=0 $ and $ \mathcal{T}(ξ,X).S=0 $ for the Riemannian curvature tensor $ R $ and Ricci curvature tensor $ S $. Thus, we obtain a classification of $ N(κ)$-contact metric manifolds.
In monograph of D. E. Blair "Riemannian geometry of contact and symplectic manifolds" and in the paper of S. Zamkovoy "Canonical connections on paracontact manifolds", the curvature identities respectively for contact and paracontact metric manifold are proved. We obtain the curvature identity in the wider class of manifolds, which generalizes results presented in above mentioned publications. Moreover, we present some properties of almost (para)hermitian structure on a special semiproduct of R+ and an almost (para)contact metric manifold. This semiproduct plays an auxiliary role in proving ma…
We consider manifolds endowed with metric contact pairs for which the two characteristic foliations are orthogonal. We give some properties of the curvature tensor and in particular a formula for the Ricci curvature in the direction of the sum of the two Reeb vector fields. This shows that metrics associated to normal contact pairs cannot be flat. Therefore flat non-Kähler Vaisman manifolds do not exist. Furthermore we give a local classification of metric contact pair manifolds whose curvature vanishes on the vertical subbundle. As a corollary we have that flat associated metrics can only exi…
The object of the present study is to study 3-dimensional generalized ($κ,μ$)-contact metric manifolds with $\tilde{W}\cdot R=0$ and $\tilde{W}\cdot H=0$ to cover all the eight equivalent classes given in \cite{Shaikh2}.
We study the sectional curvature of plane distributions on 3-manifolds. We show that if the distribution is a contact structure it is easy to manipulate this curvature. As a corollary we obtain that for every transversally oriented contact structure on a closed 3-dimensional manifold $M$ there is a metric, such that the sectional curvature of the contact distribution is equal to -1. We also introduce the notion of Gaussian curvature of the plane distribution. For this notion of curvature we get the similar results.
The aim of this research is the study of Gray curvature identities, introduced by Alfred Gray in \cite{kn:Gra76} for the class of almost hermitian manifolds. As known till now, there is no equivalent for the class of almost contact manifolds. For this purpose we use the Boohby-Wang fibration and the warped manifolds construction in order to establish which identities could be satisfied by an almost contact manifold.
In this paper the geometry of normal metric contact pair manifolds is studied under the flatness of conformal, concircular and quasi-conformal curvature tensors. It is proved that a conformal flat normal metric contact pair manifold is an Einstein manifold with a negative scalar curvature and has positive sectional curvature. It is also shown that a concircular flat normal metric contact pair manifold an Einstein manifold. Finally it is obtained that a quasi-conformal flat normal metric contact pair manifold is an Einstein manifold with a positive scalar curvature and, is a space of constant c…
We introduce higher order mean curvatures of screen almost conformal (SAC) half-lightlike submanifolds of indefinite contact manifolds, admitting a semi-symmetric non-metric connection, and use them to generalize some known results of [6]. Also, we derive a new set of integration formulae via the divergence of some special vector fields tangent to this submanifold. Several examples are also included to illustrate the main concepts.
We study the Riemann curvature tensor of (κ,μ,ν)-contact metric manifolds, which we prove to be completely determined in dimension 3, and we observe how it is affected by D_a-homothetic deformations. This prompts the definition and study of generalized (κ,μ,ν)-space forms and of the necessary and sufficient conditions for them to be conformally flat.
On 5-dimensional almost contact B-metric manifolds, the form of any Kähler-type tensor (i.e. a tensor satisfying the properties of the curvature tensor of the Levi-Civita connection in the special class of the parallel structures on the manifold) is determined. The associated 1-forms are derived by the scalar curvatures of the Kähler-type tensor for the canonical connection on the manifolds from the main classes with closed 1-forms.
Measure contraction property is one of the possible generalizations of Ricci curvature bound to more general metric measure spaces. In this paper, we discover sufficient conditions for a three dimensional contact subriemannian manifold to satisfy this property.
In this paper we consider surfaces of class $C^1$ with continuous prescribed mean curvature in a three-dimensional contact sub-Riemannian manifold and prove that their characteristic curves are of class $C^2$. This regularity result also holds for critical points of the sub-Riemannian perimeter under a volume constraint. All results are valid in the first Heisenberg group $\mathbb{H}^1$.
In this study, we investigate generalized quasi-Einstein structure for normal metric contact pair manifolds. Firstly, we deal with elementary properties and examine, existence, and characterizations of generalized quasi-Einstein normal metric contact pair manifold. Secondly, the generalized quasi-constant curvature of normal metric contact pair manifolds are studied and it is proven that a normal metric contact pair manifold with generalized quasi-constant curvature is a generalized quasi-Einstein manifold. Normal metric contact pair manifolds satisfying cyclic Ricci tensor and the Codazzi typ…
In this paper we consider a set $E\subsetΩ$ with prescribed mean curvature $f\in C(Ω)$ and Euclidean Lipschitz boundary $\partial E=Σ$ inside a three-dimensional contact sub-Riemannian manifold $M$. We prove that if $Σ$ is locally a regular intrinsic graph, the characteristic curves are of class $C^2$. The result is shape and improves the ones contained in \cite{MR2583494} and \cite{GalRit15}.
Assuming that there exists a translating soliton $u_\infty$ with speed $C$ in a domain $Ω$ and with prescribed contact angle on $\partialΩ$, we prove that a graphical solution to the mean curvature flow with the same prescribed contact angle converges to $u_\infty +Ct$ as $t\to\infty$. We also generalize the recent existence result of Gao, Ma, Wang and Weng to non-Euclidean settings under suitable bounds on convexity of $Ω$ and Ricci curvature in $Ω$.
We study a class of simply connected manifolds in all odd dimensions greater than 3 that exhibit an infinite number of toric contact structures of Reeb type that are inequivalent as contact structures. We compute the cohomology ring of our manifolds by using the join construction for Sasaki manifolds and show that all such contact structures admit a ray of compatible Sasaki metrics of constant scalar curvature (CSC). Furthermore, infinitely many such structures admit at least 3 rays of constant scalar curvature Sasaki metrics.
We study curvature dimension inequalities for the sub-Laplacian on contact Riemannian manifolds. This new curvature dimension condition is then used to obtain: 1) Geometric conditions ensuring the compactness of the underlying manifold (Bonnet-Myers type results); 2) Volume estimates of metric balls; 3) Gradient bounds and stochastic completeness for the heat semigroup generated by the sub-Laplacian; 4) Spectral gap estimates.
This paper is devoted to the existence of contact forms of prescribed Webster scalar curvature on a $3-$dimensional CR compact manifold locally conformally CR equivalent to the unit sphere $\mathbb{S}^{3}$ of $\mathbb{C}^{2}$. Due to Kazdan-Warner type obstructions, conditions on the function $H$ to be realized as a Webster scalar curvature have to be given. We prove new existence results based on a new type of Euler-Hopf type formula. Our argument gives an upper bound on the Morse index of the obtained solution. We also give a lower bound on the number of conformal contact forms having the sa…
Spacelike surfaces in Generalized Robertson-Walker spacetimes whose mean curvature function satisfies a natural nonlinear inequality are analyzed. Several uniqueness and nonexistence results for such compact spacelike surfaces are proved. In the nonparametric case, new Calabi-Bernstein type problems are solved as a consequence.
Given a contact 3-manifold we consider the problem of when a given function can be realized as the Ricci curvature of a Reeb vector field for the contact structure. We will use topological tools to show that every admissible function can be realized as such Ricci curvature for a singular metric which is an honest compatible metric away from a measure zero set. However, we will see that resolving such singularities depends on contact topological data and is yet to be fully understood.
We construct contact forms with constant $Q^\prime$-curvature on compact three-dimensional CR manifolds which admit a pseudo-Einstein contact form and satisfy some natural positivity conditions. These contact forms are obtained by minimizing the CR analogue of the $II$-functional from conformal geometry. Two crucial steps are to show that the $P^\prime$-operator can be regarded as an elliptic pseudodifferential operator and to compute the leading order terms of the asymptotic expansion of the Green's function for $\sqrt{P^\prime}$.
We will generalize a Maximum Principle at Infinity in the parabolic case given by De Lima [Ann. Global Anal. Geom. ${\bf 20}$, 325-343 2001] and De Lima and Meeks [Indiana Univ. Math. Journal ${\bf 53}$ 5, 1211-1223 2004], for disjoints hypersurfaces of $\mathbb{R}^{n+1}$ with bounded mean curvature without restrictions on the Gaussian curvature. We will also extend for hypersurfaces in $\mathbb{R}^{n+1}$ a generalization of Hopf's Maximum Principle for hypersurfaces that get close asymptotically.
We compare different notions of curvature on contact sub-Riemannian manifolds. In particular we introduce canonical curvatures as the coefficients of the sub-Riemannian Jacobi equation. The main result is that all these coefficients are encoded in the asymptotic expansion of the horizontal derivatives of the sub-Riemannian distance. We explicitly compute their expressions in terms of the standard tensors of contact geometry. As an application of these results, we obtain a sub-Riemannian version of the Bonnet-Myers theorem that applies to any contact manifold.
We compute the asymptotic expansion of the volume of small sub-Riemannian balls in a contact 3-dimensional manifold, and we express the first meaningful geometric coefficients in terms of geometric invariants of the sub-Riemannian structure
A natural connection with totally skew-symmetric torsion on almost contact manifolds with B-metric is constructed. The class of these manifolds, where the considered connection exists, is determined. Some curvature properties for this connection, when the corresponding curvature tensor has the properties of the curvature tensor for the Levi-Civita connection and the torsion tensor is parallel, are obtained.
In this paper, the HyperKahler contact distribution of a 3-Sasakian manifold is studied. To analyze the curvature properties of this distribution, the special metric connection $\bar{\nabla}$ is defined. This metric connection is completely determined by HyperKahler contact distribution. We prove that HyperKahler contact distribution is of constant holomorphic sectional curvatures if and only if its 3-Sasakian manifold is of constant $φ_α$-sectional curvatures. Moreover, it is shown that there is an interesting relation between the sectional curvatures of $φ_α$-planes on $TM$ of metric connect…
We characterize biharmonic anti-invariant surfaces in $3$-dimensional generalized $(κ, μ)$-manifolds with non-zero constant mean curvature by means of the scalar curvature of the ambient space and the mean curvature. In addition, we give a method for constructing infinity many examples of biharmonic submanifolds in a certain $3$-dimensional generalized $(κ, μ)$-manifold. Moreover, we determine $3$-dimensional generalized $(κ, μ)$-manifolds which admit a certain kind of proper biharmonic foliation.
In $(2n+1)$-dimensional non-Sasakian contact metric manifolds, we consider Legendre curves whose mean curvature vector fields are $\mathcal{C}$-parallel or $\mathcal{C}$-proper in the tangent or normal bundles. We obtain the curvature characterizations of these curves. Moreover, we give some examples of these kinds of curves which satisfy the conditions of our results.
The $Q$-prime curvature is a local invariant of pseudo-Einstein contact forms on integrable strictly pseudoconvex CR manifolds. The transformation law of the $Q$-prime curvature under scaling is given in terms of a differential operator, called the $P$-prime operator, acting on the space of CR pluriharmonic functions. In this paper, we generalize these objects to the boundaries of asymptotically complex hyperbolic Einstein (ACHE) manifolds, which are partially integrable, strictly pseudoconvex CR manifolds, by using the scattering matrix for ACHE manifolds. In this setting, the $P$-prime opera…
We prove that if the $f$-sectional curvature at any point $p$ of a $(2n+s)$-dimensional $f$-$(κ,μ)$ manifold with $n>1$ is independent of the $f$-section at $p$, then it is constant on the manifold. Moreover, we also prove that an $f$-$(κ,μ)$ manifold which is not an $S$-manifold is of constant $f$-sectional curvature if and only if $μ=κ+1$ and we give an explicit expression for the curvature tensor field. Finally, we present some examples.
In this paper, we aim to introduce and study $(κ, μ)$-contact pseudo-metric manifold and prove that if the $φ$-sectional curvature of any point of $M$ is independent of the choice of $φ$-section at the point, then it is constant on $M$ and accordingly the curvature tensor. Also, we introduce generalized $(κ, μ)$-contact pseudo-metric manifold and prove for $n>1$, that a non-Sasakian generalized $(κ, μ)$-contact pseudo-metric manifold is a $(κ, μ)$-contact pseudo-metric manifold.
We study the prescribed mean curvature equation with a prescribed boundary contact angle condition in $M\times\R$ where $M^n$ is a Riemannian submanifold in $\R^{n+1}$. The main purpose is to establish a priori gradient estimates for solutions, from which the long time existence of the solution are derived.
We construct higher-dimensional analogues of the $\mathcal{I}^\prime$-curvature of Case and Gover in all CR dimensions $n\geq2$. Our $\mathcal{I}^\prime$-curvatures all transform by a first-order linear differential operator under a change of contact form and their total integrals are independent of the choice of pseudo-Einstein contact form on a closed CR manifold. We exhibit examples where these total integrals depend on the choice of general contact form, and thereby produce counterexamples to the Hirachi conjecture in all CR dimensions $n\geq2$.

We study compatible toric Sasaki metrics with constant scalar curvature on co-oriented compact toric contact manifolds of Reeb type of dimension at least 5. These metrics come in rays of transversal homothety due to the possible rescaling of the Reeb vector fields. We prove that there exist Reeb vector fields for which the transversal Futaki invariant (restricted to the Lie algebra of the torus) vanishes. Using existence result of [25], we show that a co-oriented compact toric contact 5-manifold whose moment cone has 4 facets admits a finite number of rays of transversal homothetic compatible …
In this paper we deal with two classes of mixed metric 3-structures, namely the mixed 3-Sasakian structures and the mixed metric 3-contact structures. Firstly we study some properties of the curvature of mixed 3-Sasakian structures, proving that any manifold endowed with such a structure is Einstein. Then we prove the identity between the class of mixed 3-Sasakian structures and the class of mixed metric 3-contact structures.
In this paper, based on the classical K. Yano's formula, we first establish an optimal integral inequality for compact Lagrangian submanifolds in the complex space forms, which involves the Ricci curvature in the direction $J\vec{H}$ and the norm of the covariant differentiation of the second fundamental form $h$, where $J$ is the almost complex structure and $\vec{H}$ is the mean curvature vector field. Second and analogously, for compact Legendrian submanifolds in the Sasakian space forms with Sasakian structure $(φ,ξ,η,g)$, we also establish an optimal integral inequality involving the Ricc…
We consider Legendrian contact structures on odd-dimensional complex analytic manifolds. We are particularly interested in integrable structures, which can be encoded by compatible complete systems of second order PDEs on a scalar function of many independent variables and considered up to point transformations. Using the techniques of parabolic differential geometry, we compute the associated regular, normal Cartan connection and give explicit formulas for the harmonic part of the curvature. The PDE system is trivializable by means of point transformations if and only if the harmonic curvatur…
We explore the consequences of curvature and torsion on the topology of quaternionic contact manifolds with integrable vertical distribution. We prove a general Myers theorem and establish a Cartan-Hadamard result for almost qc-Einstein manifolds.
