In this paper, we aim to introduce and study $(κ, μ)$-contact pseudo-metric manifold and prove that if the $φ$-sectional curvature of any point of $M$ is independent of the choice of $φ$-section at the point, then it is constant on $M$ and accordingly the curvature tensor. Also, we introduce generalized $(κ, μ)$-contact pseudo-metric manifold and prove for $n>1$, that a non-Sasakian generalized $(κ, μ)$-contact pseudo-metric manifold is a $(κ, μ)$-contact pseudo-metric manifold.
We investigate 3-dimensional almost Kenmotsu manifolds satisfying special types of nullity conditions depending on two smooth functions $κ,μ$. When either $κ<-1$ and $μ=0$ or $h=0$, such conditions coincide with the $κ$-nullity condition which we show to be equivalent to the $η$-Einstein one. As an application of this result, we obtain examples of $N(κ)$-quasi Einstein manifolds. Moreover, for the aforementioned manifolds, some complete local descriptions of their structure are established, building local "models" for each of them.
In this paper, we consider surfaces in 4--dimensional pseudo--Riemannian space--forms with index 2. First, we obtain some of geometrical properties of such surfaces considering their relative null space. Then, we get classifications of quasi--minimal surfaces with positive relative nullity.
We prove that if the $f$-sectional curvature at any point $p$ of a $(2n+s)$-dimensional $f$-$(κ,μ)$ manifold with $n>1$ is independent of the $f$-section at $p$, then it is constant on the manifold. Moreover, we also prove that an $f$-$(κ,μ)$ manifold which is not an $S$-manifold is of constant $f$-sectional curvature if and only if $μ=κ+1$ and we give an explicit expression for the curvature tensor field. Finally, we present some examples.
Let $M^{2n+1}$, $n\ge 1$, be a smooth manifold with a pseudo-convex integrable CR structure of hypersurface type. We consider a sequence of CR invariant subsets $ M=\mathcal S_0 \supset \mathcal S_1 \supset \cdots \supset \mathcal S_{n}, $ where $\mathcal S_q$ is the set of points where the Levi-form has nullity $\ge q$. We prove that $\mathcal S_q$'s are locally given as common zero sets of the coefficients $A_j,$ $j=0,1,\ldots, q-1,$ of the characteristic polynomial of the Levi-form. Some sufficient conditions for local existence of complex submanifolds are presented in terms of the coeffici…
This paper is a complete study of almost α-paracosmplectic manifolds. We characterize almost α-paracosmplectic manifolds which have para Kaehler leaves. Main curvature identities which are fulfilled by any almost α-paracosmplectic manifold are found. We also proved that ξ is a harmonic vector field if and only if it is an eigen vector field of the Ricci operator. We locally classify three dimensional almost α-para-Kenmotsu manifolds satisfying a certain nullity condition. We show that this condition is invariant under D_{γ,β}-homothetic deformation. Furthermore, we construct examples of almost…
In this paper, we investigate geometric conditions for isometric immersions with positive index of relative nullity to be cylinders. There is an abundance of noncylindrical $n$-dimensional minimal submanifolds with index of relative nullity $n-2$, fully described by Dajczer and Florit \cite{DF2} in terms of a certain class of elliptic surfaces. Opposed to this, we prove that nonminimal $n$-dimensional submanifolds in space forms of any codimension are locally cylinders provided that they carry a totally geodesic distribution of rank $n-2\geq2,$ which is contained in the relative nullity distri…
The paper is a complete study of paracontact metric manifolds for which the Reeb vector field of the underlying contact structure satisfies a nullity condition (the condition \eqref{paranullity} below, for some real numbers $% \tildeκ$ and $\tildeμ$). This class of pseudo-Riemannian manifolds, which includes para-Sasakian manifolds, was recently defined in \cite{MOTE}. In this paper we show in fact that there is a kind of duality between those manifolds and contact metric $(κ,μ)$-spaces. In particular, we prove that, under some natural assumption, any such paracontact metric manifold admits a …
A metric projective structure is a manifold equipped with the unparametrised geodesics of some pseudo-Riemannian metric. We make acomprehensive treatment of such structures in the case that there is a projective Weyl curvature nullity condition. The analysis is simplified by a fundamental and canonical 2-tensor invariant that we discover. It leads to a new canonical tractor connection for these geometries which is defined on a rank $(n+1)$-bundle. We show this connection is linked to the metrisability equations that govern the existence of metrics compatible with the structure. The fundamental…
The object of the present paper is to study the characterization of warped product manifolds satisfying some pseudosymmetric type conditions, especially, due to projective curvature tensor. For this purpose we consider a warped product manifold satisfying the pseudosymmetric type condition $R\cdot R = L_1 Q(g,R) + L_2 Q(S,R)$ and evaluate its characterization theorem. As special cases of $L_1$ and $L_2$ we find out the necessary and sufficient condition for a warped product manifold to satisfy various pseudosymmetric type, such as pseudosymmetry, Ricci generalized pseudosymmetry, semisymmetry …
In this paper, we have studied the critical point equation (shortly, CPE) within the frame-work of Kenmotsu and almost Kenmotsu manifold satisfying certain nullity conditions. First, we prove that a complete Kenmotsu metric satisfies the CPE is Einstein and locally isometric to the hyperbolic space H2n+1. In case of Kenmotsu manifolds, it is possible to determine the potential function explicitly (locally). We also provide some examples of Kenmotsu and almost Kenmotsu manifolds that satisfies the CPE.
In this thesis, we study singular pseudo-differential operators defined by groupoids satisfying the Lauter-Nistor condition, by a method parallel to that of manifolds with boundary and edge differential operators. The example of the Bruhat sphere is studied in detail. In particular, we construct an extension to the calculus of uniformly supported pseudo-differential operators that is analogous to the calculus with bounds defined on manifolds with boundary. We derive a Fredholmness criterion for operators on the Bruhat sphere, and prove that their parametrices up to compact operators lie inside…
We study a geometrical condition (PHWC) which is weaker than horizontal weak conformality. In particular, we show that harmonic maps satisfying this condition, which will be called {\em pseudoharmonic morphisms}, include harmonic morphisms and can be described as pulling back certain germs to certain other germs. Finally, we construct a canonical f-structure associated to every map satisfying (PHWC) and find conditions on this f-structure to ensure the harmonicity of the map.
Using the Blaschke-Berwald metric and the affine shape operator of a hypersurface M in the (n+1)-dimensional real affine space we can define some generalized curvature tensor named the Opozda-Verstraelen affine curvature tensor. In this paper we determine curvature conditions of pseudosymmetry type expressed by this tensor for locally strongly convex hypersurfaces M, n>2, with two distinct affine principal curvatures or with three distinct affine principal curvatures assuming that at least one affine principal curvature has multiplicity 1.
We prove that a complete noncompact Kähler manifold $M^{n}$of positive bisectional curvature satisfying suitable growth conditions is biholomorphic to a pseudoconvex domain of {\bf C}$^{n}$ and we show that the manifold is topologically {\bf R}$^{2n}$. In particular, when $M^{n}$ is a Kähler surface of positive bisectional curvature satisfying certain natural geometric growth conditions, it is biholomorphic to {\bf C}$^{2}$.
We study minimal Lorentz surfaces in the pseudo-Euclidean 4-space with neutral metric whose first normal space is two-dimensional and whose Gauss curvature $K$ and normal curvature $\varkappa$ satisfy the inequality $K^2-\varkappa^2 >0$. Such surfaces we call minimal Lorentz surfaces of general type. On any surface of this class we introduce geometrically determined canonical parameters and prove that any minimal Lorentz surface of general type is determined (up to a rigid motion) by two invariant functions satisfying a system of two natural partial differential equations. Using a concrete sol…
This paper aims to investigate the curvature restricted geometric properties admitted by Melvin magnetic spacetime metric, a warped product metric with $1$-dimensional fibre. For this, we have considered a Melvin type static, cylindrically symmetric spacetime metric in Weyl form and it is found that such metric, in general, is generalized Roter type, $Ein(3)$ and has pseudosymmetric Weyl conformal tensor satisfying the pseudosymmetric type condition $R\cdot R-Q(S,R)=\mathcal L' Q(g,C)$. The condition for which it satisfies the Roter type condition has been obtained. It is interesting to note t…
Let (M, g) be a pseudo Riemannian manifold. We consider four geometric structures on M compatible with g: two almost complex and two almost product structures satisfying additionally certain integrability conditions. For instance, if r is a product structure and symmetric with respect to g, then r induces a pseudo Riemannian product structure on M. Sometimes the integrability condition is expressed by the closedness of an associated two-form: if j is almost complex on M and ω(x, y) = g(jx, y) is symplectic, then M is almost pseudo Kähler. Now, product, complex and symplectic structures on M ar…
We develop an invariant local theory of Lorentz surfaces in pseudo-Euclidean 4-space by use of a linear map of Weingarten type. We find a geometrically determined moving frame field at each point of the surface and obtain a system of geometric functions. We prove a fundamental existence and uniqueness theorem in terms of these functions. On any Lorentz surface with parallel normalized mean curvature vector field we introduce special geometric (canonical) parameters and prove that any such surface is determined up to a rigid motion by three invariant functions satisfying three natural partial d…
The object of this paper is study $(ε)$-para-Sasakian 3-manifolds satisfying certain conditions on the $\mathcal{Z}$ tensor. We characterize, $\mathcal{Z}$-symmetric; $\mathcal{Z}$-semisymmetric; $\mathcal{Z}$-pseudosymmetric; and projectively $\mathcal{Z}$-semisymmetric conditions on an $(ε)$-para-Sasakian 3-manifold.
In this paper we study *-Conformal η-Ricci soliton on Sasakian manifolds. Here, we discuss some curvature properties on Sasakian manifold admitting *-Conformal η-Ricci soliton. We obtain some significant results on *-Conformal η-Ricci soliton in Sasakian manifolds satisfying R(ξ,X).S = 0, S(ξ,X).R = 0, {\overline}P(ξ,X).S = 0, where {\overline}P is Pseudo-projective curvature tensor. The conditions for *-Conformal η-Ricci soliton on Φ-conharmonically flat and Φ-projectively flat Sasakian manifolds have been obtained in this article. Lastly we give an example of 5-dimensional Sasakian manifolds …
Motivated by Perelman's Pseudo Locality Theorem for the Ricci flow, we prove that if a Riemannian manifold has Ricci curvature bounded below in a metric ball which moreover has almost maximal volume, then in a smaller ball (in a quantified sense) it holds an almost-euclidean isoperimetric inequality. The result is actually established in the more general framework of non-smooth spaces satisfying local Ricci curvature lower bounds in a synthetic sense via optimal transportation.
A contravariant pseudo-Hessian manifold is a manifold $M$ endowed with a pair $(\nabla,h)$ where $\nabla$ is a flat connection and $h$ is a symmetric bivector field satisfying a contravariant Codazzi equation. When $h$ is invertible we recover the known notion of pseudo-Hessian manifold. Contravariant pseudo-Hessian manifolds have properties similar to Poisson manifolds and, in fact, to any contravariant pseudo-Hessian manifold $(M,\nabla,h)$ we associate naturally a Poisson tensor on $TM$. We investigate these properties and we study in details many classes of such structures in order to high…
A Koszul-Vinberg manifold is a manifold $M$ endowed with a pair $(\nabla,h)$ where $\nabla$ is a flat connection and $h$ is a symmetric bivector field satisfying a generalized Codazzi equation. The geometry of such manifolds could be seen as a type of bridge between Poisson geometry and pseudo-Riemannian geometry, as has been highlighted in our previous article [\textit{Contravariant Pseudo-Hessian manifolds and their associated Poisson structures}. \rm{Differential Geometry and its Applications} (2020)]. Our objective here will be to pursue our study by focusing in this setting on submanifold…
