We construct metrics with the holonomy group SU(2) on the tangent bundles of weighted complex projective lines and give a geometric description of the moduli space of special Kahler metrics on a K3-surface in the neighborhood of the flat orbifold $T^4/Z_3$.
In this paper, we propose a method of studying the modified Kahler-Ricci flow on projective bundles and give the explicit equation from the view point of symplectic geometry.
We use Dirac operator techniques to establish a sharp lower bound for the first eigenvalue of the twisted Dolbeault Laplacian on holomorphic line bundles over compact Kähler manifolds.
In this paper, we study the existence of Poisson metrics on flat vector bundles over noncompact Riemannian manifolds and discuss related consequence, specially on the applications in Higgs bundles, towards generalizing Corlette-Donaldson-Hitchin-Simpson's nonabelian Hodge correspondence to noncompact Kähler manifolds setting.
We show that the total space of any affine $\mathbb{C}$-bundle over $\mathbb{CP}^1$ with negative degree admits an ALE scalar-flat Kähler metric. Here the degree of an affine bundle means the negative of the self-intersection number of the section at infinity in a natural compactification of the bundle, and so for line bundles it agrees with the usual notion of the degree.
We study the behaviour of the Kähler-Ricci flow on projective bundles. We show that if the initial metric is in a suitable Kähler class, then the fibers collapse in finite time and the metrics converge subsequentially in the Gromov-Hausdorff sense to a metric on the base.
We prove the existence of extremal, non-csc, Kähler metrics on certain unstable projectivised vector bundles $¶(E) \to M$ over a cscK-manifold $M$ with discrete holomorphic automorphism group, in certain adiabatic Kähler classes. In particular, the vector bundles $E \to M$ under consideration are assumed to split as a direct sum of stable subbundles $E=E_1 \oplus \dots \oplus E_s$ all having different Mumford-Takemoto-slope, e.g. $μ(E_1) > \dots > μ(E_s)$.
We give an explicit description of all complete $G$-invariant Ricci-flat Kähler metrics on the tangent bundle $T(G/K)\cong G^\bbC/K^\bbC$ of rank-one Riemannian symmetric spaces $G/K$ of compact type, in terms of associated vector-functions.
In this paper, we prove the equivalence of the existence of extremal Kahler metrics and the properness of the modified K energy on projective bundles. Moreover, we discuss the relations of the lower boundedness of the K energy, the infimum of the Calabi energy and the extremal polynomials. In particular, we give an example where the modified K energy is bounded from below but not proper.
We investigate principal $G$-bundles on a compact Kähler manifold, where $G$ is a complex algebraic group such that the connected component of it containing the identity element is reductive. Defining (semi)stability of such bundles, it is shown that a principal $G$-bundle $E_G$ admits an Einstein-Hermitian connection if and only if $E_G$ is polystable. We give an equivalent formulation of the (semi)stability condition. A question is to compare this definition with that of math.AG/0506511.
We study the existence of weighted extremal Kähler metrics in the sense of Apostolov-Calderbank-Gauduchon-Legendre and Lahdili on the total space of an admissible projective bundle over a Hodge Kähler manifold of constant scalar curvature. Admissible projective bundles have been defined by Apostolov-Calderbank-Gauduchon-Tønnesen-Friedman, and they include the projective line bundles (Hwang-Singer) and their blow-downs (Koiso-Sakane), thus providing a most general setting for extending the existence theory for extremal Kähler metrics pioneered by a seminal construction of Calabi. We obtain a ge…
We study the conditions under which the cotangent bundle $T^*M$ of a Riemaannian manifold $(M,g)$, endowed with a Kählerian structure $(G,J)$ of general natural lift type (see \cite{Druta1}), is Einstein. We first obtain a general natural Kähler-Einstein structure on the cotangent bundle $T^*M$. In this case, a certain parameter, $λ$ involved in the condition for $(T^*M,G,J)$ to be a Kählerian manifold, is expressed as a rational function of the other two, the value of the constant sectional curvature, $c$, of the base manifold $(M,g)$ and the constant $ρ$ involved in the condition for the str…
We study the behavior of the Kähler-Ricci flow on some Fano bundle which is a trivial bundle on one Zariski open set. We show that if the fiber is $\mathbb{P}^{m}$ blown up at one point or some weighted projective space blown up at the orbifold point and the initial metric is in a suitable kähler class, then the fibers collapse in finite time and the metrics converge sub-sequentially in Gromov-Hausdorff sense to a metric on the base.
We study the line bundle mean curvature flow on Kähler surfaces under the hypercritical phase and a certain semipositivity condition. We naturally encounter such a condition when considering the blowup of Kähler surfaces. We show that the flow converges smoothly to a singular solution to the deformed Hermitian-Yang-Mills equation away from a finite number of curves of negative self-intersection on the surface. As an application, we obtain a lower bound of a Kempf-Ness type functional on the space of potential functions satisfying the hypercritical phase condition.
In this paper we study a Riemanian metric on the tangent bundle $T(M)$ of a Riemannian manifold $M$ which generalizes Sasaki metric and Cheeger Gromoll metric and a compatible almost complex structure which together with the metric confers to $T(M)$ a structure of locally conformal almost Kählerian manifold. This is the natural generalization of the well known almost Kählerian structure on $T(M)$. We found conditions under which $T(M)$ is almost Kählerian, locally conformal Kählerian or Kählerian or when $T(M)$ has constant sectional curvature or constant scalar curvature. Then we will restric…
We give a description of all $G$-invariant Ricci-flat Kähler metrics on the canonical complexification of any compact Riemannian symmetric space $G/K$ of arbitrary rank, by using some special local $(1,0)$ vector fields on $T(G/K)$. As the simplest application, we obtain the explicit description of the set of all complete $\mathrm{SO}(3)$-invariant Ricci-flat Kähler metrics on $T{\mathbb S}^2$, which includes the well-known Eguchi-Hanson-Stenzel metrics and a new one-parameter family of metrics.
We generalize the ancient solutions of the Ricci flow on certain principal ${\rm SO}(3)$ bundles over compact quaternionic Kähler manifolds constructed by Bakas, Kong, and Ni to certain $RP^3$ fibre bundles over a product of two compact quaternionic Kähler manifolds. The ancient solutions are of Type I, $κ$-noncollapsed, and have positive Ricci curvature. Analogous solutions on even-dimensional non-Kählerian bundle spaces are also constructed.
We study the conditions under which an almost Hermitian structure $(G,J)$ of general natural lift type on the cotangent bundle $T^*M$ of a Riemannian manifold $(M,g)$ is K\" ahlerian. First, we obtain the algebraic conditions under which the manifold $(T^*M,G,J)$ is almost Hermitian. Next we get the integrability conditions for the almost complex structure $J$, then the conditions under which the associated 2-form is closed. The manifold $(T^*M,G,J)$ is K\" ahlerian iff it is almost Kahlerian and the almost complex structure $J$ is integrable. It follows that the family of Kahlerian structures…
In this paper we study a Riemanian metric on the tangent bundle $T(M)$ of a Riemannian manifold $M$ which generalizes the Cheeger Gromoll metric and a compatible almost complex structure which together with the metric confers to $T(M)$ a structure of locally conformal almost Kählerian manifold. We found conditions under which $T(M)$ is almost Kählerian, locally conformal Kählerian or Kählerian or when $T(M)$ has constant sectional curvature or constant scalar curvature.
It is a classical fact that the cotangent bundle $T^* \M$ of a differentiable manifold $\M$ enjoys a canonical symplectic form $Ω^*$. If $(\M,\j,g,ω)$ is a pseudo-Kähler or para-Kähler $2n$-dimensional manifold, we prove that the tangent bundle $T\M$ also enjoys a natural pseudo-Kähler or para-Kähler structure $(\J,\G,Ω)$, where $Ω$ is the pull-back by $g$ of $Ω^*$ and $\G$ is a pseudo-Riemannian metric with neutral signature $(2n,2n)$. We investigate the curvature properties of the pair $(\J,\G)$ and prove that: $\G$ is scalar-flat, is not Einstein unless $g$ is flat, has nonpositive (resp.\ …
We extend an $L^{2}$-energy gap of Yang-Mills connections on principal $G$-bundles $P$ over a compact Riemannian manfold with a $good$ Riemannian metric to the case of a compact Kähler surface with a $generic$ Kähler metric $g$, which guarantees that all ASD connections on the principal bundle $P$ over $X$ are irreducible.
In this note, using Calabi's method, we construct rotationally symmetric Kahler-Ricci solitons on the total space of direct sum of fixed hermitian line bundle and its projective compactification, where the curvature of hermitian line bundle is Kahler-Einstein. These examples generalize the construction of Koiso, Cao and Feldman-Ilmanen-Knopf.
For a holomorphic vector bundle over a compact Kähler orbifold, the slope stability of the bundle is shown to be equivalent to the existence of a Hermitian-Einstein metric or to the properness of a certain functional introduced by Donaldson.
Using quaternionic Feix--Kaledin construction we provide a local classification of quaternion-Kähler metrics with a rotating $S^1$-symmetry with the fixed point set submanifold $S$ of maximal possible dimension. For any Kähler manifold $S$ equipped with a line bundle with a unitary connection of curvature proportional to the Kähler form we explicitly construct a holomorphic contact distribution on the twistor space obtained by the quaternionic Feix-Kaledin construction from this data. Conversely, we show that quaternion-Kähler metrics with a rotating $S^1$-symmetry induce on the fixed point se…
In this paper we provide an explicit description of normal almost contact structures obtained from Cartan-Ehresmann connections (gauge fields) on principal $S^{1}$-bundles over complex flag manifolds. The main feature of our approach is to employ elements of representation theory of complex simple Lie algebras in order to describe and classify these structures. We use these normal almost contact structures to explicitly describe a huge class of compact Hermitian non-Kähler manifolds obtained from products of principal $S^{1}$-bundles over complex flag manifolds. Moreover, we obtain from our de…
We prove that if G is a compact connected Lie group and X is a compact connected hyper-Kahler manifold, then the L^2 metric on (the smooth locus of) the moduli space of flat G-bundles on X is a hyper-Kahler metric.
It is known that, for Dirac operators on Riemann surfaces twisted by line bundles with Hermitian-Einstein connections, it is possible to obtain estimates for the first eigenvalue in terms of the topology of the twisting bundle \cite{JL2}. Attempts to generalize topological estimates for higher rank bundles or higher dimensional manifolds have been so far unsuccessful. In this work we construct a class of examples which indicates one problem that arises on such attempts to derive topological estimates.
In this work we consider compact Kähler manifolds with non-positive mixed curvature which is a "convex combination" of Ricci curvature and holomorphic sectional curvature. We show that in this case, the canonical line bundle is nef. Moreover, if the curvature is negative at some point, then the manifold is projective with canonical line bundle being big and nef. If in addition the curvature is negative, then the canonical line bundle is ample. As an application, we answer a question of Ni concerning manifolds with negative $k$-Ricci curvature and generalize a result of Wu-Yau and Diverio-Trapa…
We investigate the geometry of a normal bundle equipped with a $(p,q)$-metric, i.e., Riemannian metric of Cheeger-Gromoll type, to the submanifold of a Riemannian manifold. We derive all natural object as the Levi-Civita connection, curvature tensor, sectional and scalar curvature. We prove that under some natural conditions the sectional curvature of this bundle may be bounded from below by given arbitrary large positive constant. Next we investigate $(p,q)$-metrics from the complex geometry point of view. We show when the normal bundle can by equipped with a structure of almost Hermitian, al…
Let $X$ be a compact Gauduchon manifold, and let $E$ and $V_0$ be holomorphic vector bundles over $X$. Suppose that $E$ is stable when considering all subsheaves preserved by a Higgs field $θ\in H^0($End$(E)\otimes V_0)$. Then a modified version of the Donaldson heat flow converges along a subsequence of times to a solution of a generalized Hermitian-Einstein equation, given by $iΛF+[θ,θ^\dagger]=λI$.
We show the existence and uniqueness of a one-parameter family of smooth complete $U(1)$-invariant gradient steady Ricci solitons on the total space of any complex line bundle over a Fano Kähler-Einstein base with first Chern class proportional to that of the base. These solitons are non-Kähler except on the total space of the canonical bundle.
We develop some results on the positivity of direct image bundles in the particular case of a trivial fibration over a one-dimensional base. We also apply the results to study variations of Kahler metrics.
This paper concerns obstruction flatness of hypersurfaces $Σ$ that arise as unit sphere bundles $S(E)$ of Griffiths negative Hermitian vector bundles $(E, h)$ over Kähler manifolds $(M, g).$ We prove that if the curvature of $(E, h)$ satisfies a splitting condition and $(M,g)$ has constant Ricci eigenvalues, then $S(E)$ is obstruction flat. If, in addition, all these eigenvalues are strictly less than one and $(M,g)$ is complete, then we show that the corresponding ball bundle admits a complete Kähler-Einstein metric.
The subject of this paper is the explicit momentum construction of complete Einstein metrics by ODE methods. Using the Calabi ansatz, further generalized by Hwang-Singer, we show that there are non-trivial complete conformally Kähler Einstein metrics on certain Hermitian holomorphic vector bundles and their subbundles over complete Kähler-Einstein manifolds. In special cases, we give the explicit expressions of of these metrics. These examples show that there is a compact Kähler manifold $M$ and its subvariety $N$ whose codimension is greater than 1 such that there is a complete conformally Kä…
In this paper we study the geometry of the total space $Y$ of a cotangent bundle to a Kähler manifold $N$ where $N$ is obtained as a Kähler reduction from $\mathbb C^n$. Using the hyperkähler reduction we construct a hyperkähler metric on $Y$ and prove that it coincides with the canonical Feix-Kaledin metric. This metric is in general non-complete. We show that the metric completion $\tilde Y$ of the space $Y$ is equipped with a structure of a stratified hyperkähler space. We give a necessary condition for the Feix-Kaledin metric to be complete using an observation of R.Bielawski. Pick a compl…
Let X --> B be a holomorphic submersion between compact Kahler manifolds of any dimension, whose fibres and base have no non-zero holomorphic vector fields and whose fibres all admit constant scalar curvature Kahler metrics. This article gives a sufficient topological condition for the existence of a constant scalar curvature Kahler metric on the total space X. The condition involves the CM-line bundle--a certain natural line bundle on B--which is proved to be nef. Knowing this, the condition is then implied by c_1(B)<0. This provides infinitely many Kahler manifolds of constant scalar curvatu…
Let $M=P(E)$ be the complex manifold underlying the total space of the projectivization of a holomorphic vector bundle $E \to Σ$ over a compact complex curve $Σ$ of genus $\ge 2$. Building on ideas of Fujiki, we prove that $M$ admits a Kähler metric of constant scalar curvature if and only if $E$ is polystable. We also address the more general existence problem of extremal Kähler metrics on such bundles and prove that the splitting of $E$ as a direct sum of stable subbundles is necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of extremal Kähler metrics in sufficiently small Kähler classes.…
The purpose of this paper is to investigate canonical metrics on a semi-stable vector bundle E over a compact Kahler manifold X. It is shown that, if E is semi-stable, then Donaldson's functional is bounded from below. This implies that E admits an approximate Hermitian-Einstein structure, generalizing a classic result of Kobayashi for projective manifolds to the Kahler case. As an application some basic properties of semi-stable vector bundles over compact Kahler manifolds are established, such as the fact that semi-stability is preserved under tensor product and certain exterior and symmetri…
In the previous paper \cite{Goto_2017}, the notion of an Einstein-Hermitian metric of a generalized holomorphic vector bundle over a generalized Kahler manifold of symplectic type was introduced from the moment map framework. In this paper we establish a Kobayashi-Hitchin correspondence, that is, the equivalence of the existence of an Einstein-Hermitian metric and $ψ$-polystability of a generalized holomorphic vector bundle over a compact generalized Kahler manifold of symplectic type. Poisson modules provide intriguing generalized holomorphic vector bundles and we obtain $ψ$-stable Poisson mo…
We prove that one can obtain natural bundles of Lie algebras on rank two s-Kähler manifolds, whose fibres are isomorphic to so(s+1,s+1), su(s+1,s+1) and sl(2s + 2,\R). In the most rigid case (which includes complex tori and abelian varieties) these bundles have natural flat connections, whose flat global sections act naturally on cohomology. We also present several natural examples of manifolds which can be equipped with an s-Kähler structure with various levels of rigidity: complex tori and abelian varieties, cotangent bundles of smooth manifolds and moduli of pointed elliptic curves.
In this paper we study holomorphic vector bundles with singular Hermitian metrics whose curvature are Hermitian matrix currents. We obtain an extension theorem for holomorphic jet sections of nef holomorphic vector bundle on compact Kähler manifolds. Using it we prove that Fano manifolds with strong Griffiths nef tangent bundles are rational homogeneous spaces.
Obstruction flatness of a strongly pseudoconvex hypersurface $Σ$ in a complex manifold refers to the property that any (local) Kähler-Einstein metric on the pseudoconvex side of $Σ$, complete up to $Σ$, has a potential $-\log u$ such that $u$ is $C^\infty$-smooth up to $Σ$. In general, $u$ has only a finite degree of smoothness up to $Σ$. In this paper, we study obstruction flatness of hypersurfaces $Σ$ that arise as unit circle bundles $S(L)$ of negative Hermitian line bundles $(L, h)$ over Kähler manifolds $(M, g).$ We prove that if $(M,g)$ has constant Ricci eigenvalues, then $S(L)$ is obst…
We show that the orbifold fundamental group of an effective compact K{ä}hler orbifold with nef anticanonical bundle has polynomial growth, which generalizes M.P ăun's results for manifolds [P ău97, Theorem 1,Theorem 2]
In 1980, I. Morrison proved that slope stability of a vector bundle of rank 2 over a compact Riemann surface implies Chow stability of the projectivization of the bundle with respect to certain polarizations. Using the notion of balanced metrics and recent work of Donaldson, Wang, and Phong-Sturm, we show that the statement holds for higher rank vector bundles over compact algebraic manifolds of arbitrary dimension that admit constant scalar curvature metric and have discrete automorphism group.
We use hyperbolic geometry to construct simply-connected symplectic or complex manifolds with trivial canonical bundle and with no compatible Kahler structure. We start with the desingularisations of the quadric cone in C^4: the smoothing is a natural S^3-bundle over H^3, its holomorphic geometry is determined by the hyperbolic metric; the small-resolution is a natural S^2-bundle over H^4 with symplectic geometry determined by the metric. Using hyperbolic geometry, we find orbifold quotients with trivial canonical bundle; smooth examples are produced via crepant resolutions. In particular, we …
On a compact Kahler manifold, one can define global invariants by integrating local invariants of the metric. Assume that a global invariant thus obtained depends only on the Kahler class. Then we show that the integrand can be decomposed into a Chern polynomial (the integrand of a Chern number) and divergences of one forms, which do not contribute to the integral. We apply this decomposition formula to describe the asymptotic expansion of the Bergman kernel for positive line bundles and to show that the CR Q-curvature on a Sasakian manifold is a divergence.
