In 1980, I. Morrison proved that slope stability of a vector bundle of rank 2 over a compact Riemann surface implies Chow stability of the projectivization of the bundle with respect to certain polarizations. Using the notion of balanced metrics and recent work of Donaldson, Wang, and Phong-Sturm, we show that the statement holds for higher rank vector bundles over compact algebraic manifolds of arbitrary dimension that admit constant scalar curvature metric and have discrete automorphism group.

On Chow stability and balanced embeddings

An important result of Zhang states that for a projective variety, the existence of a balanced embedding is equivalent to Chow stability. In this paper, we shall prove that Chow stability implies that a balanced embedding exists via the continuity method. Our proof is conditional on a technical hypothesis about restrictions of Hamiltonians to subschemes of projective space.

Relative Chow stability and optimal weights

For a polarized Kähler manifold $(X, L)$, we show the equivalence between relative balanced embeddings introduced by Mabuchi and $σ$-balanced embeddings introduced by Sano, answering a question of Hashimoto. We give a GIT characterization of the existence of a $σ$-balanced embedding, and relate the optimal weight $σ$ to the action of $\mathrm{Aut}_0(X,L)$ on the Chow line of $(X, L)$.

Asymptotic Chow polystability in Kähler geometry

It is conjectured that the existence of constant scalar curvature Kähler metrics will be equivalent to K-stability, or K-polystability depending on terminology (Yau-Tian-Donaldson conjecture). About J-flow, J-balanced metrics, uniform J-stability and K-stability

From the work of Dervan-Keller, there exists a quantization of the critical equation for the J-flow. This leads to the notion of J-balanced metrics. We prove that the existence of J-balanced metrics has a purely algebro-geometric characterization in terms of Chow stability, complementing the result of Dervan-Keller. We also obtain various criteria that imply uniform J-stability and uniform K-stability. Eventually, we discuss the case of Kähler classes that may not be integral over a compact manifold.

Stability of anti-canonically balanced metrics

We study the asymptotic behavior of quantized Ding functionals along Bergman geodesic rays and prove that the slope at infinity can be expressed in terms of Donaldson-Futaki invariants and Chow weights. Based on the slope formula, we introduce a new algebro-geometric stability on Fano manifolds and show that the existence of anti-canonically balanced metrics implies our stability. The relation between our stability and others is also discussed. As another application of the slope formula, we get the lower bound estimate on the Calabi like functionals on Fano manifolds.

A finite dimensional approach to Donaldson's J-flow

We define a quantisation of the J-flow over a projective complex manifold. As corollaries, we obtain new proofs of uniqueness of critical points of the J-flow and that these critical points achieve the absolute minimum of an associated energy functional. An obstruction to asymptotic semistability and approximate critical metrics

In this paper, we consider an obstruction to asymptotic Chow-semistability of a polarized Kaehler algebraic manifold. Even when a linear algebraic group of positive dimension acts nontrivially and holomorphically on a polarized Kaehler algebraic manifold with constant scalar curvature, the vanishing of the obstruction allows us to generalize Donaldson's construction of approximate solutions for equations of balanced metrics.

Geometric quantization of coupled Kähler-Einstein metrics

We study the quantization of coupled Kähler-Einstein (CKE) metrics, namely we approximate CKE metrics by means of the canonical Bergman metrics, so called the ``balanced metrics''. We prove the existence and weak convergence of balanced metrics for the negative first Chern class, while for the positive first Chern class, we introduce some algebro-geometric obstruction which interpolates between the Donaldson-Futaki invariant and Chow weight. Asymptotics of polybalanced metrics under relative stability constraints

Under the assumption of asymptotic relative Chow-stability for polarized algebraic manifolds $(M, L)$, a series of weighted balanced metrics $ω_m$, $m \gg 1$, called polybalanced metrics, are obtained from complete linear systems $|L^m|$ on $M$. Then the asymptotic behavior of the weights as $m \to \infty$ will be studied.
