On a compact Kahler manifold, one can define global invariants by integrating local invariants of the metric. Assume that a global invariant thus obtained depends only on the Kahler class. Then we show that the integrand can be decomposed into a Chern polynomial (the integrand of a Chern number) and divergences of one forms, which do not contribute to the integral. We apply this decomposition formula to describe the asymptotic expansion of the Bergman kernel for positive line bundles and to show that the CR Q-curvature on a Sasakian manifold is a divergence.
This paper is a sequel to \cite{Xu}. In this paper, an estimation of the Bergman Kernel of Kähler hyperbolic manifold is given by the $L^2$ estimate and the Bochner formula. As an application, an effective criterion of the very ampleness of the canonical line bundle of Kähler hyperbolic manifold is given, which is a generalization of Yeung's result.
We prove the convergence of the Bergman kernels and the $L^2$-Hodge numbers on a tower of Galois coverings $\{X_j\}$ of a compact Kähler manifold $X$ converging to an infinite Galois (not necessarily universal) covering $\widetilde{X}$. We also show that, as an application, sections of canonical line bundle $K_{X_j}$ for sufficiently large $j$ give rise to an immersion into some projective space, if so do sections of $K_{\widetilde{X}}$.
In this short note, we compare our previous works on the off-diagonal expansion of the Bergman kernel and the recent preprint of Lu-Shiffman (arxiv.1301.2166). In particular, we note that the vanishing of the coefficient of p^{-1/2} is implicitly contained in Dai-Liu-Ma's work (J. Differential Geom. 72 (2006), no. 1, 1-41) and was explicitly stated in our book (Holomorphic Morse inequalities and Bergman kernels, Progress in Math., vol. 254, Birkhäuser, 2007).
Geodesics on the infinite dimensional symmetric space $\hcal$ of Kähler metrics in a fixed Kähler class on a projective Kähler manifold X are solutions of a homogeneous complex Monge-Ampère equation in $X \times A$, where $A \subset \C$ is an annulus. They are analogues of 1PS (one-parameter subgroups) on symmetric spaces $G_{\C}/G$. Donaldson, Arezzo-Tian and Phong-Sturm raised the question whether Monge-Ampère geodesics can be approximated by 1PS geodesics in the symmetric spaces of Bergman metrics. Phong-Sturm proved weak C^0 convergence of Bergman to Monge-Ampère geodesics on a general \ka…
We give upper bounds for the Bergman kernels associated to tensor powers of a smooth positive line bundle in terms of the rate of growth of the Taylor coefficients of the Kähler potential. As applications, we obtain improved off-diagonal rate of decay for the classes of analytic, quasi-analytic, and more generally Gevrey potentials.
We compute the first four coefficients of the asymptotic off-diagonal expansion of the Bergman kernel for the N-th power of a positive line bundle on a compact Kaehler manifold, and we show that the coefficient b_1 of the N^{-1/2} term vanishes when we use a K-frame. We also show that all the coefficients of the expansion are polynomials in the K-coordinates and the covariant derivatives of the curvature and are homogeneous with respect to the weight w.
In this paper, we study the behavior of Bergman kernels along the Kähler Ricci flow on Fano manifolds. We show that the Bergman kernels are equivalent along the Kähler Ricci flow under certain condition on the Ricci curvature of the initial metric. Then, using a recent work of Tian and Zhang, we can solve a conjecture of Tian for Fano manifolds of complex dimension $\le 3$.
We provide a simple proof of a result of Rouby-Sjöstrand-Ngoc \cite{RSN} and Deleporte \cite{Deleporte}, which asserts that if the Kähler potential is real analytic then the Bergman kernel is an \textit{analytic kernel} meaning that its amplitude is an \textit{analytic symbol} and its phase is given by the polarization of the Kähler potential. This in particular shows that in the analytic case the Bergman kernel accepts an asymptotic expansion in a fixed neighborhood of the diagonal with an exponentially small remainder. The proof we provide is based on a linear recursive formula of L. Charles…
In this paper, we give a lower bound of Bergman kernels for a sequence of almost Kähler-Einstein Fano manifolds, or more general, a sequence of Fano manifolds with almost Kähler-Ricci solitons. This generalizes a result by Donaldson-Sun, Tian for Kähler-Einstein manifolds sequence with positive scalar curvature. As an application of our result, we prove that the Gromov-Hausdorff limit of sequence is homomorphic to a log terminal $Q$-Fano variety which admits a Kähler-Ricci soliton on its smooth part.
Given a sequence of positive Hermitian holomorphic line bundles $(L_p,h_p)$ on a Kähler manifold $X$, we establish the asymptotic expansion of the Bergman kernel of the space of global holomorphic sections of $L_p$, under a natural convergence assumption on the sequence of curvatures $c_1(L_p,h_p)$. We then apply this to study the asymptotic distribution of common zeros of random sequences of $m$-tuples of sections of $L_p$ as $p\to\infty$.
We prove a new off-diagonal asymptotic of the Bergman kernels associated to tensor powers of a positive line bundle on a compact Kähler manifold. We show that if the Kähler potential is real analytic, then the Bergman kernel accepts a complete asymptotic expansion in a neighborhood of the diagonal of shrinking size $k^{-\frac14}$. These improve the earlier results in the subject for smooth potentials, where an expansion exists in a $k^{-\frac12}$ neighborhood of the diagonal. We obtain our results by finding upper bounds of the form $C^m m!^{2}$ for the Bergman coefficients $b_m(x, \bar y)$, w…
It's well-known in \kahler geometry that the infinite dimensional symmetric space $\hcal$ of smooth \kahler metrics in a fixed \kahler class on a polarized \kahler manifold is well approximated by finite dimensional submanifolds $\bcal_k \subset \hcal$ of Bergman metrics of height $k$. Then it's natural to ask whether geodesics in $\hcal$ can be approximated by Bergman geodesics in $\bcal_k$. For any polarized \kahler manifold, the approximation is in the $C^0$ topology. While Song-Zelditch proved the $C^2$ convergence for the torus-invariant metrics over toric varieties. In this article, we s…
Let $( X ,d ,p ) $ be the pointed Gromov-Hausdorff limit of a sequence of pointed complete polarized Kähler manifolds $( M_l ,ω_l ,\mathcal{L}_l ,h_l ,p_l ) $ with $Ric ( h_l ) =2πω_l $, $Ric ( ω_l ) \geq -Λω_l $ and $Vol \big( B_1 ( p_l ) \big) \geq v $, $\forall l\in\mathbb{N} $, where $Λ,v>0$ are constants. Then $X$ is a normal complex space [Liu-Székelyhidi, 2022, GAFA]. In this paper, we discuss the convergence of the Hermitian line bundles $( \mathcal{L}_l ,h_l )$ and the Bergman kernels. In particular, we show that the Kähler forms $ω_l $ converge to a unique closed positive current $ω_…
We shall give an explicit estimate of the lower bound of the Bergman kernel associated to a positive line bundle. In the compact Riemann surface case, our result can be seen as an explicit version of Tian's partial $C^0$-estimate.
Consider a very ample line bundle $ E \to X$ over a compact complex manifold, endowed with a hermitian metric of curvature $-i ω$, and the space $\mathcal{O}(E)$ of its holomorphic sections. The Fubini--Study map associates with positive definite inner products $\langle \, , \rangle$ on $\mathcal{O}(E)$ functions FS$(\langle \, ,\rangle) \in \mathcal{H}_ω=\{u \in C^{\infty}(X):ω+i\partial\overline{\partial} u >0\}$. We prove that FS is an injective immersion, but its image in general is not closed in $\mathcal{H}_ω$. To obtain a closed range, FS has to be extended to certain degenerate inner p…
On a polarized manifold $(X,L)$, the Bergman iteration $ϕ_k^{(m)}$ is defined as a sequence of Bergman metrics on $L$ with two integer parameters $k, m$. We study the relation between the Kähler-Ricci flow $ϕ_t$ at any time $t \geq 0$ and the limiting behavior of metrics $ϕ_k^{(m)}$ when $m=m(k)$ and the ratio $m/k$ approaches to $t$ as $k \to \infty$. Mainly, three settings are investigated: the case when $L$ is a general polarization on a Calabi-Yau manifold $X$ and the case when $L=\pm K_X$ is the (anti-) canonical bundle. Recently, Berman showed that the convergence $ϕ_k^{(m)} \to ϕ_t$ hol…
In this master thesis, we give a new proof on the pointwise asymptotic expansion for Bergman kernel of a hermitian holomorphic line bundle on the points where the curvature of the line bundle is positive and satisfy local spectral gap condition. The main point is to introduce a suitable semi-classical symbol space and related symbolic calculus inspired from recent work of Hsiao and Savale. Particularly, we establish the existence of pointwise asymptotic expansion on the positive part for certain semi-positive line bundles.
We generalize the results of Song-Zelditch on geodesics in spaces of Kahler metrics on toric varieties to harmonic maps of any compact Riemannian manifold with boundary into the space of Kahler metrics on a toric variety. We show that the harmonic map equation can always be solved and that such maps may be approximated in the C^2 topology by harmonic maps into the spaces of Bergman metrics. In particular, WZW maps, or equivalently solutions of a homogeneous Monge-Ampere equation on the product of the manifold with a Riemann surface with S^1 boundary admit such approximations. We also show that…
Let $X$ be a compact hyperbolic Riemann surface equipped with the Poincaré metric. For any integer $k\geq 2$, we investigate the Bergman kernel associated to the holomorphic Hermitian line bundle $Ω^{\otimes k}_X$, where $Ø$ is the holomorphic cotangent bundle of $X$. Our first main result estimates the corresponding Bergman metric on $X$ in terms of the Poincaré metric. We then consider a certain natural embedding of the symmetric product of $X$ into a Grassmannian parametrizing subspaces of fixed dimension of the space of all global holomorphic sections of $Ω^{\otimes k}_X$. The Fubini-Study…
Let L be an ample holomorphic line bundle over a compact complex Hermitian manifold X. Any fixed smooth Hermitian metric on L induces a Hilbert space structure on the space of global holomorphic sections with values in the k:th tensor power of L. In this paper various convergence results are obtained for the corresponding Bergman kernels. The convergence is studied in the large k limit and is expressed in terms of the equilibrium metric associated to the fixed metric, as well as in terms of the Monge-Ampere measure of the fixed metric itself on a certain support set. It is also shown that the …
We underline some differences between the geometric aspect of Berezin's approach to quantization on homogeneous Kähler manifolds and Bergman's construction for bounded domains in $\mathbb{C}^n$. We construct explicitly the Bergman representative coordinates for the Siegel-Jacobi disk $\mathcal{D}^J_1$, which is a partially bounded manifold whose points belong to $\mathbb{C}\times\mathcal{D}_1$, where $\mathcal{D}_1$ denotes the Siegel disk. The Bergman representative coordinates on $\mathcal{D}^J_1$ are globally defined, the Siegel-Jacobi disk is a normal Kähler homogeneous Lu Qi-Keng manifold…
In this article, we derive off-diagonal estimates of the Bergman kernel associated to tensor- products of the cotangent line bundle defined over a hyperbolic Riemann surface of finite volume.
We prove an exponential estimate for the asymptotics of Bergman kernels of a positive line bundle under hypotheses of bounded geometry. We give further Bergman kernel proofs of complex geometry results, such as separation of points, existence of local coordinates and holomorphic convexity by sections of positive line bundles.
We develop some results on the positivity of direct image bundles in the particular case of a trivial fibration over a one-dimensional base. We also apply the results to study variations of Kahler metrics.
The subject of this paper is the explicit momentum construction of complete Einstein metrics by ODE methods. Using the Calabi ansatz, further generalized by Hwang-Singer, we show that there are non-trivial complete conformally Kähler Einstein metrics on certain Hermitian holomorphic vector bundles and their subbundles over complete Kähler-Einstein manifolds. In special cases, we give the explicit expressions of of these metrics. These examples show that there is a compact Kähler manifold $M$ and its subvariety $N$ whose codimension is greater than 1 such that there is a complete conformally Kä…
We prove that a complete Kähler manifold with holomorphic curvature bounded between two negative constants admits a unique complete Kähler-Einstein metric. We also show this metric and the Kobayashi-Royden metric are both uniformly equivalent to the background Kähler metric. Furthermore, all three metrics are shown to be uniformly equivalent to the Bergman metric, if the complete Kähler manifold is simply-connected, with the sectional curvature bounded between two negative constants. In particular, we confirm two conjectures of R. E. Greene and H. Wu posted in 1979.
We study the asymptotic properties of the Bergman kernels associated to tensor powers of a positive line bundle on a compact Kähler manifold. We show that if the Kähler potential is in Gevrey class $G^a$ for some $a>1$, then the Bergman kernel accepts a complete asymptotic expansion in a neighborhood of the diagonal of shrinking size $k^{-\frac12+\frac{1}{4a+4\varepsilon}}$ for every $\varepsilon>0$. These improve the earlier results in the subject for smooth potentials, where an expansion exists in a $(\frac{\log k}{k})^{\frac12}$ neighborhood of the diagonal. We obtain our results by finding…
Let L be a holomorphic line bundle over a compact complex projective Hermitian manifold X. Any fixed smooth hermitian metric h on L induces a Hilbert space structure on the space of global holomorphic sections with values in the k th tensor power of L. In this paper various convergence results are obtained for the corresponding Bergman kernels (i.e. orthogonal projection kernels). The convergence is studied in the large k limit and is expressed in terms of the equilibrium metric h_e associated to h, as well as in terms of the Monge-Ampere measure of h on a certain support set. It is also shown…
Given a smooth positive measure $μ$ on a complete Hermitian manifold with Ricci curvature bounded from below, we prove a pointwise Agmon-type bound for the corresponding Bergman kernel, under rather general conditions involving the coercivity of an associated complex Laplacian on $(0,1)$-forms. Thanks to an appropriate version of the Bochner--Kodaira--Nakano basic identity, we can give explicit geometric sufficient conditions for such coercivity to hold. Our results extend several known bounds in the literature to the case in which the manifold is neither assumed to be Kähler nor of "bounded g…
In this paper we consider a punctured Riemann surface endowed with a Hermitian metric that equals the Poincar{é} metric near the punctures, and a holomorphic line bundle that polarizes the metric. We show that the quotient of the Bergman kernel of high tensor powers of the line bundle and of the Bergman kernel of the Poincar{é} model near the singularity tends to one up to arbitrary negative powers of the tensor power.
Given a compact polarized Kähler manifold $X\hookrightarrow\mathbb{CP}^N$, the space of Bergman metrics on $X$, parameterized by $\mathrm{SL}(N+1,\mathbb{C})$, corresponds to a dense set in the space of Kähler potentials in the Kähler class as $N\to\infty$. Critical points of the $k$th K-energy functional, which is defined on the Kähler class, correspond to metrics with harmonic $k$th Chern form. In this paper it is shown that the higher K-energy functionals, when restricted to the Bergman metrics, are expressible as the energies of certain pairs of vectors (tensors products of discriminants).…
In this article, we construct the canonical semipositive current or the canonical measure ($=$ the potential of the canonical semipositive current) on a smooth projective variety of nonnegative Kodaira dimension in terms of a dynamical system of Bergman kernels. This current is considered to be a generalization of a Kähler-Einstein metric and coincides the one constructed independently by J. Song and G. Tian. The major difference between their work and the present article is that they found the canonical measure in terms of Käher-Ricci flows, while I found the canonical measure in terms of the…
In this paper we study the asymptotic behaviour of the spectral function corresponding to the lower part of the spectrum of the Kodaira Laplacian on high tensor powers of a holomorphic line bundle. This implies a full asymptotic expansion of this function on the set where the curvature of the line bundle is non-degenerate. As application we obtain the Bergman kernel asymptotics for adjoint semi-positive line bundles over complete Kaehler manifolds, on the set where the curvature is positive. We also prove the asymptotics for big line bundles endowed with singular Hermitian metrics with strictl…
In this paper, we prove the Miyaoka-Yau inequality for compact Kähler manifolds with semi-positive canonical bundle. The key point of the proof is the estimate for the $L^2$-norm of the scalar curvature along the Kähler-Ricci flow.
We give an alternate proof of the existence of the asymptotic expansion of the Bergman kernel associated to the $k$-th tensor powers of a positive line bundle $L$ in a $\frac{1}{\sqrt{k}}$-neighborhood of the diagonal using elementary methods. We use the observation that after rescaling the Kähler potential $kφ$ in a $\frac{1}{\sqrt{k}}$-neighborhood of a given point, the potential becomes an asymptotic perturbation of the Bargmann-Fock metric. We then prove that the Bergman kernel is also an asymptotic perturbation of the Bargmann-Fock Bergman kernel.
We study the Kähler-Ricci flow on a class of projective bundles $\mathbb{P}(\mathcal{O}_Σ\oplus L)$ over compact Kähler-Einstein manifold $Σ^n$. Assuming the initial Kähler metric $ω_0$ admits a U(1)-invariant momentum profile, we give a criterion, characterized by the triple $(Σ, L, [ω_0])$, under which the $\mathbb{P}^1$-fiber collapses along the Kähler-Ricci flow and the projective bundle converges to $Σ$ in Gromov-Hausdorff sense. Furthermore, the Kähler-Ricci flow must have Type I singularity and is of $(\C^n \times \mathbb{P}^1)$-type. This generalizes and extends part of Song-Weinkove's…
It is known that a compact symplectic manifold endowed with a prequantum line bundle can be embedded in the projective space generated by the eigensections of low energy of the Bochner Laplacian acting on high $p$-tensor powers of the prequantum line bundle. We show that the Fubini-Study forms induced by these embeddings converge at speed rate $1/p^{2}$ to the symplectic form. This result implies the generalization to the almost-Kähler case of the lower bounds on the Calabi functional given by Donaldson for Kähler manifolds, as shown by Lejmi and Keller.
In this paper we study holomorphic vector bundles with singular Hermitian metrics whose curvature are Hermitian matrix currents. We obtain an extension theorem for holomorphic jet sections of nef holomorphic vector bundle on compact Kähler manifolds. Using it we prove that Fano manifolds with strong Griffiths nef tangent bundles are rational homogeneous spaces.
We provide a survey of results on the statistics of random sections of holomorphic line bundles on Kähler manifolds, with an emphasis on the resulting asymptotics when a line bundle is raised to increasing tensor powers. We conclude with a brief discussion of the `Bergman' Kähler metrics induced by these random sections.
We show that the classical Szasz analytic function $S_N(f)(x)$ is obtained by applying the pseudo-differential operator $f(N^{-1}D_θ)$ to the Bergman kernels for the Bargmann-Fock space. The expression generalizes immediately to any smooth polarized noncompact complete toric \kahler manifold, defining the generalized Szasz analytic function $S_{h^N}(f)(x)$. About $S_{h^N}(f)(x)$, we prove that it admits complete asymptotics and there exists a universal scaling limit. % We also consider some dilation operator composed with $S_{h^N}(f)(x)$ and we give an estimate about this composition. As an ex…
In this paper, we study Higgs bundles on non-compact Hermitian manifolds. Under some assumptions for the underlying Hermitian manifolds which are not necessarily Kähler, we solve the Hermitian-Einstein equation on analytically stable Higgs bundles.
We establish the cancellation of the first $2j$ terms in the diagonal asymptotic expansion of the restriction to the $(0,2j)$-forms of the Bergman kernel associated to the spin${}^c$ Dirac operator on high tensor powers of a positive line bundle twisted by a (non necessarily holomorphic) complex vector bundle, over a compact Kähler manifold. Moreover, we give a local formula for the first and the second (non-zero) leading coefficients.
In this paper, we propose a method of studying the modified Kahler-Ricci flow on projective bundles and give the explicit equation from the view point of symplectic geometry.
We use Dirac operator techniques to establish a sharp lower bound for the first eigenvalue of the twisted Dolbeault Laplacian on holomorphic line bundles over compact Kähler manifolds.
In this paper, we study the existence of Poisson metrics on flat vector bundles over noncompact Riemannian manifolds and discuss related consequence, specially on the applications in Higgs bundles, towards generalizing Corlette-Donaldson-Hitchin-Simpson's nonabelian Hodge correspondence to noncompact Kähler manifolds setting.
