In this paper we study holomorphic vector bundles with singular Hermitian metrics whose curvature are Hermitian matrix currents. We obtain an extension theorem for holomorphic jet sections of nef holomorphic vector bundle on compact Kähler manifolds. Using it we prove that Fano manifolds with strong Griffiths nef tangent bundles are rational homogeneous spaces.
We show that the orbifold fundamental group of an effective compact K{ä}hler orbifold with nef anticanonical bundle has polynomial growth, which generalizes M.P ăun's results for manifolds [P ău97, Theorem 1,Theorem 2]
Let $M$ and $N$ be two compact complex manifolds. We show that if the tautological line bundle $\mathscr{O}_{T_M^*}(1)$ is not pseudo-effective and $\mathscr{O}_{T_N^*}(1)$ is nef, then there is no non-constant holomorphic map from $M$ to $N$. In particular, we prove that any holomorphic map from a compact complex manifold $M$ with RC-positive tangent bundle to a compact complex manifold $N$ with nef cotangent bundle must be a constant map. As an application, we obtain that there is no non-constant holomorphic map from a compact Hermitian manifold with positive holomorphic sectional curvature …
Taubes established fundamental properties of $J-$holomorphic subvarieties in dimension 4 in \cite{T1}. In this paper, we further investigate properties of reducible $J-$holomorphic subvarieties. We offer an upper bound of the total genus of a subvariety when the class of the subvariety is $J-$nef. For a spherical class, it has particularly strong consequences. It is shown that, for any tamed $J$, each irreducible component is a smooth rational curve. We also completely classify configurations of maximal dimension. To prove these results we treat subvarieties as weighted graphs and introduce se…
In this note, we continue the investigation of a projective Kähler manifold $M$ of semi-negative holomorphic sectional curvature $H$. We introduce a new differential geometric numerical rank invariant which measures the number of linearly independent {\it truly flat} directions of $H$ in the tangent spaces. We prove that this invariant is bounded above by the nef dimension and bounded below by the numerical Kodaira dimension of $M$. We also prove a splitting theorem for $M$ in terms of the nef dimension and, under some additional hypotheses, in terms of the new rank invariant.
Let M be a compact, holomorphically symplectic Kahler manifold, and $η$ a (1,1)-current which is nef (a limit of Kahler forms). Assume that the cohomology class of $η$ is parabolic, that is, its top power vanishes. We prove that all Lelong sets of $η$ are coisotropic. When M is generic, this is used to show that all Lelong numbers of $η$ vanish. We prove that any hyperkahler manifold with Pic(M) of rank 1 has non-trivial coisotropic subvarieties, if a generator of Pic(M) is parabolic.
We prove that a smooth complex projective threefold with a Kähler metric of negative holomorphic sectional curvature has ample canonical line bundle. In dimensions greater than three, we prove that, under equal assumptions, the nef dimension of the canonical line bundle is maximal. With certain additional assumptions, ampleness is again obtained. The methods used come from both complex differential geometry and complex algebraic geometry.
In this paper we prove that the anti-canonical bundle of a holomorphic foliation $\mathcal{F}$ on a complex projective manifold cannot be nef and big if either $\mathcal{F}$ is regular, or $\mathcal{F}$ has a compact leaf. Then we address codimension one regular foliations whose anti-canonical bundle is nef with maximal Kodaira dimension.
In an earlier work, we investigated some consequences of the existence of a Kähler metric of negative holomorphic sectional curvature on a projective manifold. In the present work, we extend our results to the case of semi-negative (i.e., non-positive) holomorphic sectional curvature. In doing so, we define a new invariant that records the largest codimension of maximal subspaces in the tangent spaces on which the holomorphic sectional curvature vanishes. Using this invariant, we establish lower bounds for the nef dimension and, under certain additional assumptions, for the Kodaira dimension o…
We prove that the pull back of an ample line bundle by an almost holomorphic Lagrangian fibration is nef. As an application, we show birational semi rigidity of Lagrangian fibrations.
In a recent preprint, H. Tsuji gave a number of interesting assertions on the structure of pseudo-effective line bundles on projective manifolds. In particular, he postulated the existence of an almost-holomorphic "reduction map", whose fibers are maximal subvarieties on which the line bundle is numerically trivial. The purpose of this note is to give a simple, algebraic proof of the existence of a reduction map in the case where the line bundle is nef.
The main purpose of this paper is to generalize the celebrated L${}^2$ extension theorem of Ohsawa-Takegoshi in several directions : the holomorphic sections to extend are taken in a possibly singular hermitian line bundle, the subvariety from which the extension is performed may be non reduced, the ambient manifold is K{ä}hler and holomorphically convex, but not necessarily compact.
Let $\mathcal{O}(D)$ be an equivariant line bundle which is big and nef on a complex projective nonsingular toric variety $X$. Given a continuous toric metric $\|\cdot\|$ on $\mathcal{O}(D)$, we define the energy at equilibrium of $(X,ϕ_{\bar{D}})$ where $ϕ_{\bar{D}}$ is the weight of the metrized toric divisor $\bar{D}=(D,\|\cdot\|)$. We show that this energy describes the asymptotic behaviour as $k\rightarrow \infty$ of the volume of the $L^2$-norm unit ball induced by $(X,kϕ_{\bar{D}})$ on the space of global holomorphic sections $H^0(X,\mathcal{O}(kD))$.
We show that a compact Kahler manifold with nonpositive holomorphic sectional curvature has nef canonical bundle. If the holomorphic sectional curvature is negative then it follows that the canonical bundle is ample, confirming a conjecture of Yau. The key ingredient is the recent solution of this conjecture in the projective case by Wu-Yau.
We investigate the minimal singularities of metrics on a big line bundle $L$ over a projective manifold when the stable base locus $Y$ of $L$ is a submanifold of codimension $r\geq 1$. Under some assumptions on the normal bundle and a neighborhood of $Y$, we give a explicit description of the minimal singularity of metrics on $L$. We apply this result to study a higher (co-)dimensional analogue of Zariski's example, in which the line bundle $L$ is not semi-ample, however it is nef and big.
Let $M$ be a compact connected Fujiki manifold, $G$ a semisimple affine algebraic group over $\mathbb C$ with one simple factor and $P$ a fixed proper parabolic subgroup of $G$. For a holomorphic principal $G$--bundle $E_G$ over $M$, let ${\mathcal E}_P$ be the holomorphic principal $P$-bundle $E_G\rightarrow E_G/P$ given by the quotient map. We prove that the following three statements are equivalent: (1) ${\rm ad}(E_G)$ is numerically flat, (2) the holomorphic line bundle $\bigwedge^{\rm top} {\rm ad}({\mathcal E}_P)^*$ is nef, and (3) for every reduced irreducible compact complex analytic s…
Let X --> B be a holomorphic submersion between compact Kahler manifolds of any dimension, whose fibres and base have no non-zero holomorphic vector fields and whose fibres all admit constant scalar curvature Kahler metrics. This article gives a sufficient topological condition for the existence of a constant scalar curvature Kahler metric on the total space X. The condition involves the CM-line bundle--a certain natural line bundle on B--which is proved to be nef. Knowing this, the condition is then implied by c_1(B)<0. This provides infinitely many Kahler manifolds of constant scalar curvatu…
Let $Y$ be a compact complex manifold embedded in a complex manifold with unitary flat normal bundle. Our interest is in a sort of the linearizability problem of a neighborhood of $Y$. As a higher-codimensional generalization of Ueda's result, we give a sufficient condition for the existence of a non-singular holomorphic foliation on a neighborhood of $Y$ which includes $Y$ as a leaf with unitary-linear holonomy. We apply this result to the existence problem of a smooth Hermitian metric with semi-positive curvature on a nef line bundle.
We study the algebraic dimension a(X) of a compact hyperkaehler manfold of dimension 2n. We show that a(X) is at most n unless X is projective. If a compact Kaehler manifold with algebraic dimension 0 and Kodaira dimension 0 has a minimal model, then only the values 0,n and 2n are possible. In case of middle dimension, the algebraic reduction is holomorphic Lagrangian. If n = 2, then - without any assumptions - the algebraic dimension only takes the values 0,2 and 4. The paper gives structure results for "generalised hyperkaehler" manifolds and studies nef lines bundles.
We introduce two notions of hyperbolicity for not necessarily Kähler $n$-dimensional compact complex manifolds $X$. The first, called {\it balanced hyperbolicity}, generalises Gromov's Kähler hyperbolicity by means of Gauduchon's balanced metrics. The second, called {\it divisorial hyperbolicity}, generalises the Brody hyperbolicity by ruling out the existence of non-degenerate holomorphic maps from $\C^{n-1}$ to $X$ that have what we term a subexponential growth. Our main result in the first part of the paper asserts that every balanced hyperbolic $X$ is also divisorially hyperbolic. We provi…
Let $X$ be a complex manifold and $L$ be a holomorphic line bundle on $X$. Assume that $L$ is semi-positive, namely $L$ admits a smooth Hermitian metric with semi-positive Chern curvature. Let $Y$ be a compact Kähler submanifold of $X$ such that the restriction of $L$ to $Y$ is topologically trivial. We investigate the obstruction for $L$ to be unitary flat on a neighborhood of $Y$ in $X$. As an application, for example, we show the existence of nef, big, and non semi-positive line bundle on a non-singular projective surface.
We introduce a notion of singular hermitian metrics (s.h.m.) for holomorphic vector bundles and define positivity in view of $L^2$-estimates. Associated with a suitably positive s.h.m. there is a (coherent) sheaf 0-th kernel of a certain $d''$-complex. We prove a vanishing theorem for the cohomology of this sheaf. All this generalizes to the case of higher rank known results of Nadel for the case of line bundles. We introduce a new semi-positivity notion, $t$-nefness, for vector bundles, establish some of its basic properties and prove that on curves it coincides with ordinary nefness. We part…
We prove a theorem on the extension of holomorphic sections of powers of adjoint bundles from submanifolds of complex codimension 1 having non-trivial normal bundle. The first such result, due to Takayama, considers the case where the canonical bundle is twisted by a line bundle that is a sum of a big and nef line bundle and a ${\mathbb Q}$-divisor that has kawamata log terminal singularites on the submanifold from which extension occurs. In this paper we weaken the positivity assumptions on the twisting line bundle to what we believe to be the minimal positivity hypotheses. The main new idea …
Our interest is a regularity of a minimal singular metric of a line bundle. One main conclusion of our general result in this paper is the existence of continuous Hermitian metrics with semi-positive curvatures on the so-called Zariski's example of a line bundle defined over the blow-up of $\mathbb{P}^2$ at some twelve points. This is an example of a line bundle which is nef, big, not semi-ample, and whose section ring is not finitely generated. We generalize this result to the higher dimensional case when the stable base locus of a line bundle is a smooth hypersurface with a holomorphic tubul…
The Kobayashi pseudometric on a complex manifold is the maximal pseudometric such that any holomorphic map from the Poincaré disk to the manifold is distance-decreasing. Kobayashi has conjectured that this pseudometric vanishes on Calabi-Yau manifolds. Using ergodicity of complex structures, we prove this conjecture for any hyperkähler manifold that admits a deformation with two Lagrangian fibrations and whose Picard rank is not maximal. The Strominger-Yau-Zaslow (SYZ) conjecture claims that parabolic nef line bundles on hyperkähler manifolds are semi-ample. We prove that the Kobayashi pseudom…
Let $X$ be a compact toric Kähler manifold with $-K_X$ nef. Let $L\subset X$ be a regular fiber of the moment map of the Hamiltonian torus action on $X$. Fukaya-Oh-Ohta-Ono defined open Gromov-Witten (GW) invariants of $X$ as virtual counts of holomorphic discs with Lagrangian boundary condition $L$. We prove a formula which equates such open GW invariants with closed GW invariants of certain $X$-bundles over $\mathbb{P}^1$ used to construct the Seidel representations for $X$. We apply this formula and degeneration techniques to explicitly calculate all these open GW invariants. This yields a …
