In earlier work we have shown that for certain geometric structures on a smooth manifold $M$ of dimension $n$, one obtains an almost para-Kähler--Einstein metric on a manifold $A$ of dimension $2n$ associated to the structure on $M$. The geometry also associates a diffeomorphism between $A$ and $T^*M$ to any torsion-free connection compatible with the geometric structure. Hence we can use this construction to associate to each compatible connection an almost para-Kähler--Einstein metric on $T^*M$. In this short article, we discuss the relation of these metrics to Patterson--Walker metrics and derive explicit formulae for them in the cases of projective, conformal and Grassmannian structures.
Toric hyperk{ä}hler manifolds are quaternion analog of toric varieties. Bielawski pointed out that they can be glued by cotangent bundles of toric varieties. Following his idea, viewing both toric varieties and toric hyperk{ä}her manifolds as GIT quotients, we first establish geometrical criteria for the semi-stable points. Then based on these criteria, we show that the cotangent bundles of compact toric varieties in the core of toric hyperk{ä}hler manifold are sufficient to glue the desired toric hyperk{ä}hler manifold.
The object of the present paper is to study some properties of para-K$ä$hler manifold whose metric is conformal Einstein soliton. We have studied some certain curvature properties of para-K$ä$hler manifold admitting conformal Einstein soliton.
We obtain the natural diagonal almost product and locally product structures on the total space of the cotangent bundle of a Riemannian manifold. We find the Riemannian almost product (locally product) and the (almost) para-Hermitian cotangent bundles of natural diagonal lift type. We prove the characterization theorem for the natural diagonal (almost) para-Kählerian structures on the total spaces of the cotangent bundle.
Let $(M,g)$ be an n-dimensional Riemannian manifold and $T^{*}M$ be its cotangent bundle equipped with a Riemannian metric of Cheeger Gromoll type which rescale the horizontal part by a nonzero differentiable function. The main purpose of the present paper is to discuss curvature properties of $T^{*}M$ and construct almost paracomplex Norden structures on $T^{*}M$. We investigate conditions for these structures to be para-Kähler (paraholomorphic) and quasi-Kähler. Also, some properties of almost paracomplex Norden structures in context of almost product Riemannian manifolds are presented.
We obtain a class of Kaehler Einstein structures on the nonzero cotangent bundle of a Riemannian manifold of positive constant sectional curvature. The obtained class of Kaehler Einstein structure depends on one essential parameter, cannot have constant holomorphic sectional curvature and is not locally symmetric.
We obtain a class of locally symetric Kaehler Einstein structures on the nonzero cotangent bundle of a Riemannian manifold of positive constant sectional curvature. The obtained class of Kaehler Einstein structures depends on one essential parameter and cannot have constant holomorphic sectional curvature.
We obtain a class of locally symmetric Kaehler Einstein structures on the cotangent bundle of a Riemannian manifold of negative sectional curvature. Similar results are obtained in the case of a Riemannian manifold of positive sectional curvature. The obtained class of Kaehler Einstein structures depends on one essential parameter and cannot have constant holomorphic sectional curvature.
We develop a parabolic pluripotential theory on compact K{ä}hler manifolds, defining and studying weak solutions to degenerate parabolic complex Monge-Amp{è}re equations. We provide a parabolic analogue of the celebrated Bedford-Taylor theory and apply it to the study of the K{ä}hler-Ricci flow on varieties with log terminal singularities.
In [SW2], we defined a generalized mean curvature vector field on any almost Lagrangian submanifold with respect to a torsion connection on an almost Kähler manifold. The short time existence of the corresponding parabolic flow was established. In addition, it was shown that the flow preserves the Lagrangian condition as long as the connection satisfies an Einstein condition. In this article, we show that the canonical connection on the cotangent bundle of any Riemannian manifold is an Einstein connection (in fact, Ricci flat). The generalized mean curvature vector on any Lagrangian submanifol…
We study the conditions under which the cotangent bundle $T^*M$ of a Riemaannian manifold $(M,g)$, endowed with a Kählerian structure $(G,J)$ of general natural lift type (see \cite{Druta1}), is Einstein. We first obtain a general natural Kähler-Einstein structure on the cotangent bundle $T^*M$. In this case, a certain parameter, $λ$ involved in the condition for $(T^*M,G,J)$ to be a Kählerian manifold, is expressed as a rational function of the other two, the value of the constant sectional curvature, $c$, of the base manifold $(M,g)$ and the constant $ρ$ involved in the condition for the str…
We study the conditions under which a Kählerian structure $(G,J)$ of general natural lift type on the cotangent bundle $T^*M$ of a Riemannian manifold $(M,g)$ has constant holomorphic sectional curvature. We obtain that a certain parameter involved in the condition for $(T^*M,G,J)$ to be a Kählerian manifold, is expressed as a rational function of the other two, their derivatives, the constant sectional curvature of the base manifold $(M,g)$, and the constant holomorphic sectional curvature of the general natural Kählerian structure $(G,J)$.
We study the conditions under which an almost Hermitian structure $(G,J)$ of general natural lift type on the cotangent bundle $T^*M$ of a Riemannian manifold $(M,g)$ is K\" ahlerian. First, we obtain the algebraic conditions under which the manifold $(T^*M,G,J)$ is almost Hermitian. Next we get the integrability conditions for the almost complex structure $J$, then the conditions under which the associated 2-form is closed. The manifold $(T^*M,G,J)$ is K\" ahlerian iff it is almost Kahlerian and the almost complex structure $J$ is integrable. It follows that the family of Kahlerian structures…
The main focus of the paper is the investigation of moduli space of left invariant pseudoRiemannian metrics on the cotangent bundle of Heisenberg group. Consideration of orbits of the automorphism group naturally acting on the space of the left invariant metrics allows us to use the algebraic approach. However, the geometrical tools, such as classification of hyperbolic plane conics, will often be required. For metrics that we obtain in the classification, we investigate geometrical properties: curvature, Ricci tensor, sectional curvature, holonomy and parallel vector fields. The classificatio…
Almost contact structures can be identified with sections of a twistor bundle and this allows to define their harmonicity, as sections or maps. We consider the class of nearly cosymplectic almost contact structures on a Riemannian manifold and prove curvature identities which imply the harmonicity of their parametrizing section, thus complementing earlier results on nearly-K{ä}hler almost complex structures.
We use some natural lifts defined on the cotangent bundle T*M of a Riemannian manifold (M,g) in order to construct an almost Hermitian structure (G,J) of diagonal type. The obtained almost complex structure J on T*M is integrable if and only if the base manifold has constant sectional curvature and the coefficients as well as their derivatives, involved in its definition, do fulfill a certain algebraic relation. Next one obtains the condition that must be fulfilled in the case where the obtained almost Hermitian structure is almost Kaehlerian. Combining the obtained results we get a family of …
We use the natural lifts of the fundamental tensor field g to the cotangent bundle T*M of a Riemannian manifold (M,g), in order to construct an almost Hermitian structure (G,J) of diagonal type on T*M. The obtained almost complex structure J on T*M is integrable if and only if the base manifold has constant sectional curvature and the second coefficient, involved in its definition is expressed as a rational function of the first coefficient and its first order derivative. Next one shows that the obtained almost Hermitian structure is almost Kaehlerian. Combining the obtained results we get a f…
It is well-known that the unit cotangent bundle of any Riemannian manifold has a canonical contact structure. A surface in a Riemannian 3-manifold is called a (wave) front if it is the projection of a Legendrian immersion into the unit cotangent bundle. We shall give easily-computable criteria for a singular point on a front to be a cuspidal edge or a swallowtail. Using this, we shall prove that generically flat fronts in the hyperbolic 3-space admit only cuspidal edges and swallowtails. Moreover, we will show that every complete flat front (which is not rotationally symmetric) has associated …
Let Z be the real part of a K{ä}hler Hamiltonian manifold M. The O'Shea-Sjamaar's Theorem tells us that the moment polytope Delta(Z) corresponds to the anti-invariant part of the Kirwan polytope Delta(M). The purpose of the present paper is to explain how to parameterize the equations of the facets of Delta(Z) in terms of real Ressayre's pairs of Z.
We study nearly-Kahler 6-manifolds equipped with a cohomogeneity-two Lie group action for which the principal orbits are coisotropic. If the metric is complete, then we show that this last condition is automatically satisfied, and both the acting Lie group and the principal orbits are finite quotients of $S^3 \times S^1$. We partition the class of such nearly-Ka}hler structures into three types (called I, II, III) and prove a local existence and generality result for each type. Metrics of Types I and II are shown to be incomplete. We also derive a quasilinear elliptic PDE system on the 2-dimen…
We consider free and proper cotangent-lifted symmetries of Hamiltonian systems. For the special case of G = SO(3), we construct symplectic slice coordinates around an arbitrary point. We thus obtain a parametrisation of the phase space suitable for the study of dynamics near relative equilibria, in particular for the Birkhoff-Poincare normal form method. For a general symmetry group, we observe that for the calculation of the truncated normal forms, one does not need an explicit coordinate transformation but only its higher derivatives at the relative equilibrium. We outline an iterative schem…
Curves in Lagrange Grassmannians appear naturally in the intrinsic study of geometric structures on manifolds. By a smooth geometric structure on a manifold we mean any submanifold of its tangent bundle, transversal to the fibers. One can consider the time-optimal problem naturally associate with a geometric structure. The Pontryagin extremals of this optimal problem are integral curves of certain Hamiltonian system in the cotangent bundle. The dynamics of the fibers of the cotangent bundle w.r.t. this system along an extremal is described by certain curve in a Lagrange Grassmannian, called Ja…
We study a problem of the geometric quantization for the quaternion projective space. First we explain a Kaehler structure on the punctured cotangent bundle of the quaternion projective space, whose Kaehler form coincides with the natural symplectic form on the cotangent bundle and show that the canonical line bundle of this complex structure is holomorphically trivial by explicitly constructing a nowhere vanishing holomorphic global section. Then we construct a Hilbert space consisting of a certain class of holomorphic functions on the punctured cotangent bundle by the method of pairing polar…
Our purpose is to show the existence of a Calabi-Yau structure on the punctured cotangent bundle $T^{*}_{0}(P^2\mathbb{O})$ of the Cayley projective plane $P^{2}\mathbb{O}$ and to construct a Bargmann type transformation from a space of holomorphic functions on $T^{*}_{0}(P^2\mathbb{O})$ to $L_{2}$-space on $P^{2}\mathbb{O}$. The space of holomorphic functions corresponds to the Fock space in the case of the original Bargmann transformation. A Kähler structure on $T^{*}_{0}(P^{2}\mathbb{O})$ was shown by identifying it with a quadrics in the complex space $\mathbb{C}^{27}\backslash\{0\}$ and t…
In this paper we consider a manifold $(M,\nabla )$ with a symmetric linear connection $\nabla $ which induces on the cotangent bundle $T^*M$ of $M$ a semi-Riemannian metric $\overline g$ with a neutral signature. The metric $\overline g$ is called natural Riemann extension and it is a generalization (made by M. Sekizawa and O. Kowalski) of the Riemann extension, introduced by E. K. Patterson and A. G. Walker (1952). We construct two almost para-Hermitian structures on $(T^*M,\overline g)$ which are almost para-Kähler or para-Kähler and prove that the defined almost para-complex structures are …
It is a classical fact that the cotangent bundle $T^* \M$ of a differentiable manifold $\M$ enjoys a canonical symplectic form $Ω^*$. If $(\M,\j,g,ω)$ is a pseudo-Kähler or para-Kähler $2n$-dimensional manifold, we prove that the tangent bundle $T\M$ also enjoys a natural pseudo-Kähler or para-Kähler structure $(\J,\G,Ω)$, where $Ω$ is the pull-back by $g$ of $Ω^*$ and $\G$ is a pseudo-Riemannian metric with neutral signature $(2n,2n)$. We investigate the curvature properties of the pair $(\J,\G)$ and prove that: $\G$ is scalar-flat, is not Einstein unless $g$ is flat, has nonpositive (resp.\ …
We construct left invariant special Kähler structures on the cotangent bundle of a flat pseudo-Riemannian Lie group. We introduce the twisted cartesian product of two special Kähler Lie algebras according to two linear representations by infinitesimal Kähler transformations. We also exhibit a double extension process of a special Kähler Lie algebra which allows us to get all simply connected special Kähler Lie groups with bi-invariant symplectic connections. All Lie groups constructed by performing this double extension process can be identified with a subgroup of symplectic (or Kähler) affine…
Let \gh = \gh_{-k}\oplus \cdots \oplus \gh_{l} (k >0, l \geq 0) be a finite dimensional real graded Lie algebra, with a Euclidian metric \langle \cdot , \cdot \rangle adapted to the gradation. The metric \langle\cdot , \cdot \rangle is called admissible if the codifferentials \partial^{*} : C^{k+1}(\gh_{-}, \gh ) \ra C^{k} (\gh_{-}, \gh) (k\geq 0) are Ad_{Q}-invariant (Lie(Q) = \gh_{0}\oplus \gh_{+}). We find necessary and sufficient conditions for a Euclidian metric, adapted to the gradation, to be admissible, and we develop a theory of normal Cartan connections, when these conditions are sat…
We give a sufficient condition for a metric (homology) manifold to be locally bi-Lipschitz equivalent to an open subset in $\rn$. The condition is a Sobolev condition for a measurable coframe of flat 1-forms. In combination with an earlier work of D. Sullivan, our methods also yield an analytic characterization for smoothability of a Lipschitz manifold in terms of a Sobolev regularity for frames in a cotangent structure. In the proofs, we exploit the duality between flat chains and flat forms, and recently established differential analysis on metric measure spaces. When specialized to $\rn$, o…
We introduce the notion of a special complex manifold: a complex manifold (M,J) with a flat torsionfree connection \nabla such that (\nabla J) is symmetric. A special symplectic manifold is then defined as a special complex manifold together with a \nabla-parallel symplectic form ω. This generalises Freed's definition of (affine) special Kähler manifolds. We also define projective versions of all these geometries. Our main result is an extrinsic realisation of all simply connected (affine or projective) special complex, symplectic and Kähler manifolds. We prove that the above three types of sp…
It is shown that a (curved) projective structure on a smooth manifold determines on the Poisson algebra of smooth, fiberwise-polynomial functions on the cotangent bundle a one-parameter family of graded star products. For a particular value of the parameter (corresponding to half-densities) the star product is symmetric, and specializes in the projectively flat case to the one constructed previously by C. Duval, P. Lecomte, and V. Ovsienko. A limiting form of this family of star products yields a commutative deformation of the symmetric tensor algebra of the manifold. A basic ingredient of the…
Let A be the space of irreducible connections (vector potentials) over a SU(n)-principal bundle on a three-dimensional manifold M. Let T be the fiber product of the tangent and cotangent bundles of A. We endow T with a symplectic structure Ωwhich is represented by a vortex formula. The corresponding Poisson bracket will give a parallel formula discussed by Marsden-Weinstein in case of the electric-magnetic field, U(1)-gauge. We shall prove the Maxwell equations on T. The first two equations are the Hamilton equations of motion derived from the symplectic structure on T, and the second equation…
