The present article takes advantage of the properties of algebras in the category of S-modules (twisted algebras) to investigate further the fine algebraic structure of Hopf operads. We prove that any Hopf operad P carries naturally the structure of twisted Hopf P-algebra. Many properties of classical Hopf algebraic structures are then shown to be encapsulated in the twisted Hopf algebraic structure of the corresponding Hopf operad. In particular, various classical theorems of Lie theory relating Lie polynomials to words (i.e. elements of the tensor algebra) are lifted to arbitrary Hopf operads.
The notion of a coherent unit action on algebraic operads was first introduced by Loday for binary quadratic nonsymmetric operads and generalized by Holtkamp, to ensure that the free objects of the operads carry a Hopf algebra structure. There was also a classification of such operads in the binary quadratic nonsymmetric case. We generalize the notion of coherent unit action to braided operads and show that free objects of braided operads with such an action carries a braided Hopf algebra structure. Under the conditions of binary, quadratic and nonsymmetric, we give a characterization and clas…
The purpose of this paper is two fold: we study the behaviour of the forgetful functor from S-modules to graded vector spaces in the context of algebras over an operad and derive from this theory the construction of combinatorial Hopf algebras. As a byproduct we obtain freeness and cofreeness results for these Hopf algebras. Let O denote the forgetful functor from S-modules to graded vector spaces. Left modules over an operad P are treated as P-algebras in the category of S-modules. We generalize the results obtained by Patras and Reutenauer in the associative case to any operad P: the functor…
We study P-Hopf algebras with one coassociative cooperation over different operads P. For example, we consider the Loday-Ronco dendriform Hopf algebra and its isomorphisms with the noncommutative planar Connes-Kreimer Hopf algebra and with a Hopf algebra of Brouder and Frabetti. We focus on Hopf algebra structures over free operads, like the operad Mag freely generated by a non-commutative non-associative binary operation, and the operad of Stasheff polytopes. In order to describe the operads of primitive elements we prove an analogon of the Poincare-Birkhoff-Witt theorem. We determine the gen…
Starting from an operad, one can build a family of posets. From this family of posets, one can define an incidence Hopf algebra. By another construction, one can also build a group directly from the operad. We then consider its Hopf algebra of functions. We prove that there exists a surjective morphism from the latter Hopf algebra to the former one. This is illustrated by the case of an operad built on rooted trees, the $\NAP$ operad, where the incidence Hopf algebra is identified with the Connes-Kreimer Hopf algebra of rooted trees.
We introduce two operads which own the set of planar forests as a basis. With its usual product and two other products defined by different types of graftings, the algebra of planar rooted trees H becomes an algebra over these operads. The compatibility with the infinitesimal coproduct of H and these structures is studied. As an application, an inductive way of computing the dual basis of H for its infinitesimal pairing is given. Moreover, three Cartier-Quillen-Milnor-Moore theorems are given for the operads of planar forests and a rigidity theorem for one of them.
The operad Lie can be constructed as the operad of primitives Prim As from the operad As of associative algebras. This is reflected by the theorems of Friedrichs, Poincare'-Birkhoff-Witt and Cartier-Milnor-Moore. We replace As by families of free operads P, which include the operad Mag freely generated by a noncommutative non-associative binary operation and the operad of Stasheff polytopes. We obtain Poincare'-Birkhoff-Witt type theorems and collect information about the operads Prim P, e.g. in terms of characteristic functions.
Coherent unit actions on a binary, quadratic operad were introduced by Loday and were shown by him to give Hopf algebra structures on the free algebras when the operad is also regular with a splitting of associativity. Working with such operads, we characterize coherent unit actions in terms of linear equations of the generators of the operads. We then use these equations to give all possible operad relations that allow such coherent unit actions. We further show that coherent unit actions are preserved under taking products and thus yield Hopf algebras on the free object of the product operad…
We define a "combinatorial Hopf algebra" as a Hopf algebra which is free (or cofree) and equipped with a given isomorphism to the free algebra over the indecomposables (resp. the cofree coalgebra over the primitives). The choice of such an isomorphism implies the existence a finer algebraic structure on the Hopf algebra and on the indecomposables (resp. the primitives). For instance a cofree-cocommutative right-sided combinatorial Hopf algebra is completely determined by its primitive part which is a pre-Lie algebra. The key example is the Connes-Kreimer Hopf algebra. The study of all these co…
In 2008, Loday shed light on the existence of Hopf-Boreltheorems for operads. Using the vocabulary of category theory, Livernet,Mesablishvili and Wisbauer extended such theorems to monads. In bothcases, the reasoning was to start from a mixed distributive law andthen to prove that it induces an isomorphism of species to finally geta rigidity theorem. Our reasoning goes here backward: we prove thatfrom an isomorphism of species one can get what we called a confluencelaw, which generalises mixed distributive laws, and that it is enough toobtain a rigidity theorem. This enables us to show that fo…
A Pre-Lie algebra is a vector space L endowed with a bilinear product * : L \times L to L satisfying the relation (x*y)*z-x*(y*z)= (x*z)*y-x*(z*y), for all x,y,z in L. We give an explicit combinatorial description in terms of rooted trees of the operad associated to this type of algebras and prove that it is a Koszul operad.
In this paper, we introduce the definition of free product of operads, following the definition of a free product of algebras. There is a given method of finding the basis and dimension of the free product of operads. By anti-commutative operation, Lie-admissible algebra gives Lie algebra. We proved that Lie-admissible operad isomorphic to the free product of Lie and commutative(non-associative) operads.
We study different algebraic structures associated to an operad and their relations: to any operad $\mathbf{P}$ is attached a bialgebra, the monoid of characters of this bialgebra, the underlying pre-Lie algebra and its enveloping algebra; all of them can be explicitely describedwith the help of the operadic composition. non-commutative versions are also given. We denote by $\mathbf{b\_\infty}$ the operad of $\mathbf{b\_\infty}$ algebras, describing all Hopf algebra structures on a symmetric coalgebra. If there exists an operad morphism from $\mathbf{b\_\infty}$ to $\mathbf{P}$, a pair $(A,B)$ o…
The main ideas developed in this habilitation thesis consist in endowing combinatorial objects (words, permutations, trees, Young tableaux, etc.) with operations in order to construct algebraic structures. This process allows, by studying algebraically the structures thus obtained (changes of bases, generating sets, presentations, morphisms, representations), to collect combinatorial information about the underlying objects. The algebraic structures the most encountered here are magmas, posets, associative algebras, dendriform algebras, Hopf bialgebras, operads, and pros. This work explores th…
An operad is naturally endowed with a pre-Lie structure. We prove that as a pre-Lie algebra an operad is not free. The proof holds on defining a non-vanishing linear operation in the pre-Lie algebra which is zero in any operad.
The aim of this paper is to present remarkable classes of Lie-admissible algebras containing in particular the associative algebras, the Vinberg algebras and pre-Lie algebras. We determine the associated quadratic operads and their dual operads.
An operad describes a category of algebras and a (co)homology theory for these algebras may be formulated using the homological algebra of operads. A morphism of operads $f:\mathcal{O}\rightarrow\mathcal{P}$ describes a functor allowing a $\mathcal{P}$-algebra to be viewed as an $\mathcal{O}$-algebra. We show that the $\mathcal{O}$-algebra (co)homology of a $\mathcal{P}$-algebra may be represented by a certain operadic comodule. Thus filtrations of this comodule result in spectral sequences computing the (co)homology. As a demonstration we study operads with a filtered distributive law; for th…

We study two closely related operads: the Gelfand-Dorfman operad GD and the Conformal Lie Operad CLie. The latter is the operad governing the Lie conformal algebra structure. We prove Koszulity of the Conformal Lie operad using the Groebner bases theory for operads and an operadic analogue of the Priddy criterion. An example of deformation of an operad coming from the Hom structures is considered. In particular we study possible deformations of the Associative operad from the point of view of the confluence property. Only one deformation, the operad which governs the identity $(α(ab))c=a(α(bc)…
We introduce a non-symmetric operad $\mathcal{N}$, whose dimension in degree $n$ is given by the Catalan number $c_{n-1}$. It arises naturally in the study of coalgebra structures defined on compatible associative algebras. We prove that any free compatible associative algebra admits a compatible infinitesimal bialgebra structure, whose subspace of primitive elements is a $\mathcal{N}$-algebra. The data $({\rm As},{\rm As}^2, \mathcal{N})$ is a good triple of operads, in J.-L. Loday's sense. Our construction induces another triple of operads $({\rm As},{\rm As}_2,{\rm As})$, where ${\rm As}_2$…
A Lie-admissible algebra gives by anticommutativity a Lie algebra. In this work we study remarkable classes of Lie-admissible algebras such as Vinberg, PreLie algebras. We compute the corresponding binary quadratic operads and study their Koszul duality. Considering Lie algebras as Lie-admissible algebras we can define for each Lie algebra a cohomology with values in a Lie-admissible module. This permits to study some deformations of Lie algebras in the category of Lie-admissible algebras. Lastly we study the tensor product between these operads and their dual operads. As application we constr…
The paper follows an operadic approach to provide a bialgebraic description of substitution for Lie-Butcher series. We first show how the well-known bialgebraic description for substitution in Butcher's $B$-series can be obtained from the pre-Lie operad. We then apply the same construction to the post-Lie operad to arrive at a bialgebra $\mathcal{Q}$. By considering a module over the post-Lie operad, we get a cointeraction between $\mathcal{Q}$ and the Hopf algebra $\mathcal{H}_N$ that describes composition for Lie-Butcher series. We use this coaction to describe substitution for Lie-Butcher s…
We studied both the double cross product and the bicrossproduct constructions for the Hom-Hopf algebras of general $(α,β)$-type. This allows us to consider the universal enveloping Hom-Hopf algebras of Hom-Lie algebras, which are of $(α,{\rm Id})$-type. We show that the universal enveloping Hom-Hopf algebras of a matched pair of Hom-Lie algebras form a matched pair of Hom-Hopf algebras. We observe also that, the semi-dualization of a double cross product Hom-Hopf algebra is a bicrossproduct Hom-Hopf algebra. In particular, we apply this result to the universal enveloping Hom-Hopf algebras of a…
We construct HNN-extensions of Lie di-algebras in the variety of di-algebras and provide a presentation for the replicated HNN-extension of a Lie di-algebras. Then, by applying the method of Gröbner-Shirshov bases for replicated algebras, we obtain a linear basis. As an application of HNN-extensions, we prove that Lie di-algebras are embedded in their HNN-extension.
We review the developments in the Lie theory for non-associative products from 2000 to date and describe the current understanding of the subject in view of the recent works, many of which use non-associative Hopf algebras as the main tool.
The aim of this paper is to generalize the concept of Lie-admissible coalgebra introduced by Goze and Remm to Hom-coalgebras and to introduce Hom-Hopf algebras with some properties. These structures are based on the Hom-algebra structures introduced by the authors.
The pre-Lie operad can be realized as a space T of labelled rooted trees. A result of F. Chapoton shows that the pre-Lie operad is a free twisted Lie algebra. That is, the S-module T is obtained as the plethysm of the S-module Lie with an S-module F. In the context of species, we construct an explicit basis of F. This allows us to give a new proof of Chapoton's results. Moreover it permits us to show that F forms a sub nonsymmetric operad of the pre-Lie operad T.
In this paper, we first define the pre-Lie family algebra associated to a dendriform family algebra in the case of a commutative semigroup. Then we construct a pre-Lie family algebra via typed decorated rooted trees, and we prove the freeness of this pre-Lie family algebra. We also construct pre-Lie family operad in terms of typed labeled rooted trees, and we obtain that the operad of pre-Lie family algebras is isomorphic to the operad of typed labeled rooted trees, which generalizes the result of F. Chapoton and M. Livernet. In the end, we construct Zinbiel and pre-Poisson family algebras and…
We study the Hopf algebra of double posets and two of its Hopf subalgebras, the Hopf algebras of plane posets and of posets "without N". We prove that they are free, cofree, self-dual, and we give an explicit Hopf pairing on these Hopf algebras. We also prove that they are free 2-As algebras; in particular, the Hopf algebra of posets "without N" is the free 2-As algebra on one generator. We deduce a description of the operads of 2-As algebras and of B_infty algebras in terms of plane posets.

We describe the proalgebraic groups represented by three Hopf algebras on planar binary trees previously introduced by the author and Christian Brouder in relation with the renormalization of quantum electrodynamics. Using two monoidal structures and a set-operad structure on planar binary trees, we show that these groups can be realized on formal series expanded over trees, and that the group laws are generalization of the multiplication and the composition of usual series in one variable. All the constructions are done in a general operad-theoretic setting, and then applied to the duplicial …
We investigate the action of Schur algebra on the Lie algebras of derivations of free Lie algebras and operad structures constructed from it. We also show that the Lie algebra of derivations is generated by quadratic derivations together with the action of the Schur operad. Applications to certain subgroups of the automorphism group of a finitely generated free group are given as well.
In previous works by the authors, a bifunctor was associated to any operadic twisting morphism, taking a coalgebra over a cooperad and an algebra over an operad, and giving back the space of (graded) linear maps between them endowed with a homotopy Lie algebra structure. We build on this result by using a more general notion of $\infty$-morphism between (co)algebras over a (co)operad associated to a twisting morphism, and show that this bifunctor can be extended to take such $\infty$-morphisms in either one of its two slots. We also provide a counterexample proving that it cannot be coherently…
We introduce natural binary set-theoretical products on the set of all $m$-Dyck paths, which led us to define a non-symmetric algebraic operad $\Dy^m$, described on the vector space spanned by $m$-Dyck paths. Our construction is closely related to the $m$-Tamari lattice, so the products defining $\Dy^m$ are given by intervals in this lattice. For $m=1$, we recover the notion of dendriform algebra introduced by J.-L. Loday in \cite{Lod}, and there exists a natural operad morphism from the operad ${\mbox {\it Ass}}$ of associative algebras into the operad $\Dy^m$, consequently $\Dy ^m$ is a Hopf…
We introduce a simplicial object $(\{ \Dy^m\}_{m\geq 0}, {\mathbb F}_i, {\mathbb S}_j)$ in the category of non-symmetric algebraic operads, satisfying that $\Dy^0$ is the operad of associative algebras and $\Dy^1$ is J.-L. Loday\rq s operad of dendriform algebras. The dimensions of the operad $\Dy^m$ are given by the Fuss-Catalan numbers. Given a family of partially ordered sets ${\bold P}=\{P_n\}_{n\geq 1}$ we show that, under certain conditions, the vector space spanned by the set of $m$-simpleces of ${\bold P}$ is a $\Dy^m$ algebra. This construction, applied to certain combinatorial Hopf a…
We study diverse parametrized versions of the operad of associative algebra, where the parameter are taken in an associative semigroup $Ω$ (generalization of matching or family associative algebras) or in its cartesian square (two-parameters associative algebras). We give a description of the free algebras on these operads, study their formal series and prove that they are Koszul when the set of parameters is finite. We also study operadic morphisms between the operad of classical associative algebras and these objects, and links with other types of algebras (diassociative, dendriform, post-Li…
For a large class of finite-dimensional Lie superalgebras (including the classical simple ones) a Lie supergroup associated to the algebra is defined by fixing the Hopf superalgebra of functions on the supergroup. Then it is shown that on this Hopf superalgebra there exists a non-zero left integral. According to a recent work by the authors, this integral is unique up to scalar multiples.
By the Three Graces we refer, following J.-L. Loday, to the algebraic operads Ass, Com, and Lie, each generated by a single binary operation; algebras over these operads are respectively associative, commutative associative, and Lie. We classify all distributive laws (in the categorical sense of Beck) between these three operads. Some of our results depend on the computer algebra system Maple, especially its packages LinearAlgebra and Groebner.
There exists two types of nonassociative algebras whose associator satisfies a symmetric relation associated with a 1-dimensional invariant vector space with respect to the natural action of the symmetric group on three elements. The first one corresponds to the Lie-admissible algebras that we studied in a previous paper. Here we are interested by the second one corresponding to the third power associative algebras.
Let F denote the homotopy fiber of a map f:K-->L of 2-reduced simplicial sets. Using as input data the strongly homotopy coalgebra structure of the chain complexes of K and L, we construct a small, explicit chain algebra, the homology of which is isomorphic as a graded algebra to the homology of GF, the simplicial (Kan) loop group on F. To construct this model, we develop machinery for modeling the homotopy fiber of a morphism of chain Hopf algebras. Essential to our construction is a generalization of the operadic description of the category DCSH of chain coalgebras and of strongly homotopy c…
