In this paper, we compare the abelian subalgebras and ideals of maximal dimension for finite-dimensional Zinbiel algebras. We study Zinbiel algebras containing maximal abelian subalgebras of codimension $1$ and supersolvable Zinbiel algebras in which such subalgebras have codimension $2$, and we also analyze the case of filiform Zinbiel algebras. We give examples to clarify some results, including listing the values for $α$ and $β$ for the low dimensional Zinbiel algebras over the complex field that have been classified.
We build, using the notion of zinbiel algebra, some commutative subalgebras $C_{u,v}$ inside an algebra of formal iterated integrals. There is a quotient map from this algebra of formal iterated integrals to the algebra of motivic multiple zeta values. Restricting this quotient map to the subalgebras $C_{u,v}$ of A$_{1,0}$ gives a morphism of graded commutative algebras with the same graded dimension. This is conjectured to be generically an isomorphism. When u+v = 0, the image is instead a sub-algebra of the algebra of motivic multiple zeta values.
The extending structures and unified products for Zinbiel algebras are developed. Some special cases of unified products such as crossed products and matched pair of Zinbiel algebras are studied. It is proved that the extending structures can be classified by some non-abelian cohomology theory. One dimensional flag extending structures of Zinbiel algebras are also investigated.
The extending structures problem for Zinbiel 2-algebras is studied. We introduce the concept of unified products for Zinbiel 2-algebras. Some special cases of unified products such as crossed product and matched pair of Zinbiel 2-algebras are investigated. It is proved that the extending problem for Zinbiel 2-algebras can be classified by some non-abelian cohomology theory.
In this paper, we compare the abelian subalgebras and ideals of maximal dimension for finite-dimensional Leibniz algebras. We study Leibniz algebras containing abelian subalgebras of codimension 1, solvable and supersolvable Leibniz algebras for codimensions 1 and 2, nilpotent Leibniz algebras in case of codimension 2 and we also analyze the case of k-abelian p-filiform Leibniz algebras. Throughout the paper, we also give examples to clarify some results and the need for restrictions on the underlying field.
Orthogonal decomposition of the special linear Lie algebra over the complex numbers was studied in the early 1980s and attracted further attentions in the past decade due to its application in quantum information theory. In this paper, we study this decomposition problem of the special linear Lie algebra over a finite commutative ring with identity.
In this paper we show that any irreducible finite dimensional representation of $SL_{n+1}$ remains indecomposable if restricted to n--dimensional abelian subalgebras spanned by simple root vectors.
We compare the maximal dimension of abelian subalgebras and the maximal dimension of abelian ideals for finite-dimensional Lie algebras. We show that these dimensions coincide for solvable Lie algebras over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero. We compute this invariant for all complex nilpotent Lie algebras of dimension n less than 8. Furthermore we study the case where there exists an abelian subalgebra of codimension 2. Here we explicitly construct an abelian ideal of codimension 2 in case of nilpotent Lie algebras.
In this paper, the main objective is to compare the abelian subalgebras and ideals of maximal dimension for finite-dimensional supersolvable Lie algebras. We characterise the maximal abelian subalgebras of solvable Lie algebras and study solvable Lie algebras containing an abelian subalgebra of codimension 2. Finally, we prove that nilpotent Lie algebras with an abelian subalgebra of codimension 3 contain an abelian ideal with the same dimension, provided that the characteristic of the underlying field is not two. Throughout the paper, we also give several examples to clarify some results.
We classify the (n-5)-filiform Lie algebras which have the additional property of a non-abelian derived subalgebra. We show that this property is strongly related with the structure of the Lie algebra of derivations; explicitely we show that if a (n-5)-filiform algebra is characteristically nilpotent, then it must be 2-abelian. We also give applications of k-abelian Lie algebras to the construction of solvable rigis algebras, as well as to the theory of nilalgebras of parabolic subalgebras in the example of the exceptional simple model E_{6}.
Results about the following classes of finite-dimensional Lie algebras over a field of characteristic zero are presented: anisotropic (i.e., Lie algebras for which each adjoint operator is semisimple), regular (i.e., Lie algebras in which each nonzero element is regular in the sense of Bourbaki), minimal nonabelian (i.e., nonabelian Lie algebras all whose proper subalgebras are abelian), and algebras of depth 2 (i.e., Lie algebras all whose proper subalgebras are abelian or minimal nonabelian).
We consider the functions that bound the dimensions of finite-dimensional associative or Lie algebras in terms of the dimensions of their commutative subalgebras. It is proved that these functions have quadratic growth. As a result, we also get similar estimates for the dimension of a Lie group with bounded dimensions of its abelian Lie subgroups.
Maximal abelian subalgebras of one of the classical real inhomogeneous Lie algebras are constructed, namely those of the pseudoeuclidean Lie algebra e(p,q). Use is made of the semidirect sum structure of e(p,q) with the translations T(p+q) as an abelian ideal. We first construct splitting MASAs that are themselves direct sums of abelian subalgebras of o(p,q) and of subalgebras of T(p+q). The splitting subalgebras are used to construct the complementary nonsplitting ones. We present general decomposition theorems and construct indecomposable MASAs for all algebras e(p,q), p \geq q \geq 0. The c…
A parabolic subalgebra $\mathfrak{p}$ of a complex semisimple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ is called a parabolic subalgebra of abelian type if its nilpotent radical is abelian. In this paper, we provide a complete characterization of the parameters for scalar generalized Verma modules attached to parabolic subalgebras of abelian type such that the modules are reducible. The proofs use Jantzen's simplicity criterion, as well as the Enright-Howe-Wallach classification of unitary highest weight modules.
Let W_n(K) be the Lie algebra of derivations of the polynomial algebra K[X]:=K[x_1,...,x_n] over an algebraically closed field K of characteristic zero. A subalgebra L of W_n(K) is called polynomial if it is a submodule of the K[X]-module W_n(K). We prove that the centralizer of every nonzero element in L is abelian provided L has rank one. This allows to classify finite-dimensional subalgebras in polynomial Lie algebras of rank one.
In this paper, we study the maximal dimension $α(L)$ of abelian subalgebras and the maximal dimension $β(L)$ of abelian ideals of m-dimensional 3-Lie algebras $L$ over an algebraically closed field. We show that these dimensions do not coincide if the field is of characteristic zero, even for nilpotent 3-Lie algebras. We then prove that 3-Lie algebras with $β(L) = m-2$ are 2-step solvable (see definition in Section 2). Furthermore, we give a precise description of these 3-Lie algebras with one or two dimensional derived algebras. In addition, we provide a classification of 3-Lie algebras with …
In this paper, we determine upper bound for the non-abelian tensor product of finite dimensional Lie superalgebra. More precisely, if $L$ is a non-abelian nilpotent Lie superalgebra of dimension $(k \mid l)$ and its derived subalgebra has dimension $(r \mid s)$, then $ \dim (L\otimes L) \leq (k+l-(r+s))(k+l-1)+2$. We discuss the conditions when the equality holds for $r=1, s=0$ explicitly.
For symplectic Lie algebras $\mathfrak{sp}(2n,\mathbb{C})$, denote by $\mathfrak{b}$ and $\mathfrak{n}$ its Borel subalgebra and maximal nilpotent subalgebra, respectively. We construct a relationship between the abelian ideals of $\mathfrak{b}$ and the cohomology of $\mathfrak{n}$ with trivial coefficients. By this relationship, we can enumerate the number of abelian ideals of $\mathfrak{b}$ with certain dimension via the Poincare polynomials of Weyl groups of type $A_{n-1}$ and $C_n$.
A description of all normal Hopf subalgebras of a semisimple Drinfeld double is given. This is obtained by considering an analogue of Goursat's lemma concerning fusion subcategories of Deligne products of two fusion categories. As an application we show that the Drinfeld double of any abelian extension is also an abelian extension.
The process of complexification is used to classify a Lie algebra and identify its Cartan subalgebra. However, this method does not distinguish between real forms of a complex Lie algebra, which can differ in signature. In this paper, we show how Cartan decompositions of a complexified Lie algebra can be combined with information from the Killing form to identify real forms of a given Lie algebra. We apply this technique to sl(3,O), a real form of e6 with signature (52,26), thereby identifying chains of real subalgebras and their corresponding Cartan subalgebras within e6. Motivated by an expl…
Let $D$ be a division algebra such that $D\t D^o$ is a Noetherian algebra, then any division subalgebra of $D$ is a {\em finitely generated} division algebra. Let $\D $ be a finite set of commuting derivations or automorphisms of the division algebra $D$, then the group $\Ev (\D)$ of common eigenvalues (i.e. {\em weights}) is a {\em finitely generated abelian} group. Typical examples of $D$ are the quotient division algebra ${\rm Frac} (\CD (X))$ of the ring of differential operators $\CD (X)$ on a smooth irreducible affine variety $X$ over a field $K$ of characteristic zero, and the quotient …
For every finite $p$-group $G$ of order $p^n$ with derived subgroup of order $p^m$, Rocco in \cite{roc} proved that the order of tensor square of $G$ is at most $p^{n(n-m)}$. This upper bound has been improved recently by author in \cite{ni}. The aim of the present paper is to obtain a similar result for a non-abelian nilpotent Lie algebra of finite dimension. More precisely, for any given $n$-dimensional non-abelian nilpotent Lie algebra $L$ with derived subalgebra of dimension $m$ we have $\mathrm{dim} (L\otimes L)\leq (n-m)(n-1)+2$. Furthermore for $m=1$, the explicit structure of $L$ is gi…
The main purpose of this paper is to study the finite-dimensional solvable Lie algebras described in its title, which we call {\em minimal non-${\mathcal N}$}. To facilitate this we investigate solvable Lie algebras of nilpotent length $k$, and of nilpotent length $\leq k$, and {\em extreme} Lie algebras, which have the property that their nilpotent length is equal to the number of conjugacy classes of maximal subalgebras. We characterise the minimal non-${\mathcal N}$ Lie algebras in which every nilpotent subalgebra is abelian, and those of solvability index $\leq 3$.
A finite-dimensional Lie algebra $L$ over a field $F$ is called an $A$-algebra if all of its nilpotent subalgebras are abelian. This is analogous to the concept of an $A$-group: a finite group with the property that all of its Sylow subgroups are abelian. These groups were first studied in the 1940s by Philip Hall, and are still studied today. Rather less is known about $A$-algebras, though they have been studied and used by a number of authors. The purpose of this paper is to obtain more detailed results on the structure of solvable Lie $A$-algebras. It is shown that they split over each term…
For a Lie algebra $L$ and a subalgebra $M$ of $L$ we say that a subalgebra $U$ of $L$ is a {\em supplement} to $M$ in $L$ if $L = M + U$. We investigate those Lie algebras all of whose maximal subalgebras have abelian supplements, those that have nilpotent supplements, those that have nil supplements, and those that have supplements with the property that their derived algebra is inside the maximal subalgebra being supplemented. For the algebras over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero in the last three of these classes we find complete descriptions; for those in the first cla…

In this paper a characterisation is given of solvable complemented Lie algebras. They decompose as a direct sum of abelian subalgebras and their ideals relate nicely to this decomposition. The class of such algebras is shown to be a formation whose residual is the ideal closure of the prefrattini subalgebras.
We study {\em disemisimple} Lie algebras, i.e., Lie algebras which can be written as a vector space sum of two semisimple subalgebras. We show that a Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ is disemisimple if and only if its solvable radical coincides with its nilradical and is a prehomogeneous $\mathfrak{s}$-module for a Levi subalgebra $\mathfrak{s}$ of $\mathfrak{g}$. We use the classification of prehomogeneous $\mathfrak{s}$-modules for simple Lie algebras $\mathfrak{s}$ given by Vinberg to show that the solvable radical of a disemisimple Lie algebra with simple Levi subalgebra is abelian. We extend th…
The number of Frattini chief factors or of chief factors which are complemented by a maximal subalgebra of a finite-dimensional Lie algebra $L$ is the same in every chief series for $L$, by \cite[Theorem 2.3]{[11]}. However, this is not the case for the number of chief factors which are simply complemented in $L$. In this paper we determine the possible variation in that number.
In the work we investigate some groupoids which are the Abelian algebras and the Hamiltonian algebras. An algebra is Abelian if for every polynomial operation and for all elements $a,b,\bar c,\bar d$ the implication $t(a,\bar c)=t(a,\bar d)\rightarrow t(b,\bar c)=t(b,\bar d)$ holds; an algebra is Hamiltonian if every subalgebra is a block of some congruence on the algebra. R.V. Warne in 1994 described the structure of the Abelian semigroups. In this work we describe the Abelian groupoids with identity, the Abelian finite quasigroups and the Abelian semigroups $S$ such that $abS=aS$ and $Sba=Sa…
We prove that the category of cocommutative Hopf algebras over a field is a semi-abelian category. This result extends a previous special case of it, based on the Milnor-Moore theorem, where the field was assumed to have zero characteristic. Takeuchi's theorem asserting that the category of commutative and cocommutative Hopf algebras over a field is abelian immediately follows from this new observation. We also prove that the category of cocommutative Hopf algebras over a field is action representable. We make some new observations concerning the categorical commutator of normal Hopf subalgebr…
A finite-dimensional Lie algebra $L$ over a field $F$ of characteristic zero is called elementary if each of its subalgebras has trivial Frattini ideal; it is an $A$-algebra if every nilpotent subalgebra is abelian. This paper is a continuation of the study of these algebras initiated by the authors in `Elementary Lie Algebras and Lie A-algebras', J. Algebra 312 (2007), 891--901. If we denote by $\mathcal{A}$, $\mathcal{G}$, $\mathcal{E}$, $\mathcal{L}$, $Φ$ the classes of $A$-algebras, almost algebraic algebras, $E$-algebras, elementary algebras and $ϕ$-free algebras respectively, then it is …
In this article we show that distributive law holds for non-abelian tensor product of Lie superalgebras under certain direct sums. There by we obtain a rule for non-abelian exterior square of a Lie superalgebra. We define capable Lie superalgebra and then give some characterization. Specifically we prove that epicenter of a Lie superalgebra is equal to exterior center. Finally we classify all capable Lie superalgebras whose derived subalgebra dimension is at most one. As an application to those results we have shown that there exists at least one non-abelian nilpotent capable Lie superalgebra …
