The coordinate ring of the Grassmannian variety of $k$-dimensional subspaces in $\mathbb{C}^n$ has a cluster algebra structure with Plücker relations giving rise to exchange relations. In this paper, we study indecomposable modules of the corresponding Grassmannian cluster categories ${\rm CM}(B_{k,n})$. Jensen, King, and Su have associated a Kac-Moody root system $J_{k,n}$ to ${\rm CM}(B_{k,n})$ and shown that in the finite types, rigid indecomposable modules correspond to roots. In general, the link between the category ${\rm CM}(B_{k,n})$ and the root system $J_{k,n}$ remains mysterious and it is an open question whether indecomposables always give roots. In this paper, we provide evidence for this association in the infinite types: we show that every indecomposable rank 2 module corresponds to a root of the associated root system. We also show that indecomposable rank 3 modules in ${\rm CM}(B_{3,n})$ all give rise to roots of $J_{3,n}$. For the rank 3 modules in ${\rm CM}(B_{3,n})$ corresponding to real roots, we show that their underlying profiles are cyclic permutations of a certain canonical one. We also characterize the rank 3 modules in ${\rm CM}(B_{3,n})$ corresponding to imaginary roots. By proving that there are exactly 225 profiles of rigid indecomposable rank 3 modules in ${\rm CM}(B_{3,9})$ we confirm the link between the Grassmannian cluster category and the associated root system in this case. We conjecture that the profile of any rigid indecomposable module in ${\rm CM}(B_{k,n})$ corresponding to a real root is a cyclic permutation of a canonical profile.
In this paper we study indecomposable rank 2 modules in the Grassmannian cluster category ${\rm CM}(B_{5,10})$. This is the smallest wild case containing modules whose profile layers are $5$-interlacing. We construct all rank 2 indecomposable modules with filtration $\{i,i+2,i+4,i+6,i+8\}\mid \{i+1,i+3,i+5,i+7,i+9\}$, classify them up to isomorphism, and parameterize all infinite families of non-isomorphic rank 2 modules.
The category ${\rm CM}(B_{k,n}) $ of Cohen-Macaulay modules over a quotient $B_{k,n}$ of a preprojective algebra provides a categorification of the cluster algebra structure on the coordinate ring of the Grassmannian variety of $k$-dimensional subspaces in $\mathbb C^n$, \cite{JKS16}. Among the indecomposable modules in this category are the rank $1$ modules which are in bijection with $k$-subsets of $\{1,2,\dots,n\}$, and their explicit construction has been given by Jensen, King and Su. These are the building blocks of the category as any module in ${\rm CM}(B_{k,n}) $ can be filtered by the…
In this text, we characterize the representation type of an acyclic quiver by the properties of its associated quiver Grassmannians. This characterization utilizes and extends known results about singular quiver Grassmannians and cell decompositions into affine spaces. While all quiver Grassmannians for indecomposable representations of quivers of finite representation types $A$ and $D$ are smooth and admit cell decompositions, it turns out that all quiver Grassmannians for indecomposable representations of quivers of tame types $A$ and $D$ admit cell decompositions, but some of these quiver G…
The rigidity degree of a generator-cogenerator determines the dominant dimension of its endomorphism algebra, and is closely related to a recently introduced homological dimension -- rigidity dimension. In this paper, we give explicit formulae for the rigidity degrees of all indecomposable modules over representation-finite self-injective algebras by developing combinatorial methods from the Euclidean algorithm. As an application, the rigidity dimensions of some algebras of types $A$ and $E$ are given.
We give an example of a cluster-tilted algebra A with quiver Q, such that the associated cluster algebra has a denominator vector which is not the dimension vector of any indecomposable A-module. This answers a question posed by T. Nakanishi. The relevant example is a cluster-tilted algebra associated with a tame hereditary algebra. We show that for such a cluster-tilted algebra A, we can write any denominator vector as a sum of the dimension vectors of at most three indecomposable rigid A-modules. In order to do this it is necessary, and of independent interest, to first classify the indecomp…
We study quiver Grassmannians associated with indecomposable representations of the Kronecker quiver. We find a cellular decomposition of them and we compute their Betti numbers. As an application, we give a geometric realization of the "canonical basis" of cluster algebras of Kronecker type (found by Sherman and Zelevinsky) and of type $A_2^{(1)}$.
Let $Q$ be a quiver of extended Dynkin type $D$. In this first of two papers, we show that the quiver Grassmannian $Gr_e(M)$ has a decomposition into affine spaces for every dimension vector $e$ and every indecomposable representation $M$ of defect $-1$ and defect $0$, with exception of the non-Schurian representations in homogeneous tubes. We characterize the affine spaces in terms of the combinatorics of a fixed coefficient quiver for $M$. The method of proof is to exhibit explicit equations for the Schubert cells of $Gr_e(M)$ and to solve this system of equations successively in linear term…
We provide a technique to compute the Euler characteristic of a class of projective varieties called quiver Grassmannians. This technique applies to quiver Grassmannians associated with "orientable string modules". As an application we explicitly compute the Euler characteristic of quiver Grassmannians associated with indecomposable preprojective, preinjective and regular homogeneous representations of an affine quiver of type $\tilde{A}_{p,1}$. For $p=1$, this approach provides another proof of a result due to P. Caldero and A. Zelevinsky in \cite{CZ}.
Rank $1$ modules are the building blocks of the category ${\rm CM}(B_{k,n}) $ of Cohen-Macaulay modules over a quotient $B_{k,n}$ of a preprojective algebra of affine type $A$. Jensen, King and Su showed in \cite{JKS16} that the category ${\rm CM}(B_{k,n})$ provides an additive categorification of the cluster algebra structure on the coordinate ring $\mathbb C[{\rm Gr}(k, n)]$ of the Grassmannian variety of $k$-dimensional subspaces in $\mathbb C^n$. Rank $1$ modules are indecomposable, they are known to be in bijection with $k$-subsets of $\{1,2,\dots,n\}$, and their explicit construction has…
We describe a ring whose category of Cohen-Macaulay modules provides an additive categorification of the cluster algebra structure on the homogeneous coordinate ring of the Grassmannian of k-planes in n-space. More precisely, there is a cluster character defined on the category which maps the rigid indecomposable objects to the cluster variables and the maximal rigid objects to clusters. This is proved by showing that the quotient of this category by a single projective-injective object is Geiss-Leclerc-Schroer's category Sub $Q_k$, which categorifies the coordinate ring of the big cell in thi…
$τ$-rigid modules are essential in the $τ$-tilting theory introduced by Adachi, Iyama and Reiten. In this paper, we give equivalent conditions for Iwanaga-Gorenstein algebras with self-injective dimension at most one in terms of $τ$-rigid modules. We show that every indecomposable module over iterated tilted algebras of Dynkin type is $τ$-rigid. Finally, we give a $τ$-tilting theorem on homological dimension which is an analog to that of classical tilting modules.
We show that the cohomology ring of a quiver Grassmannian asssociated with a rigid quiver representation has property (S): there is no odd cohomology and the cycle map is an isomorphism; moreover, its Chow ring admits explicit generators defined over any field. From this we deduce the polynomial point count property. By restricting the quiver to finite or affine type, we are able to show a much stronger assertion: namely, that a quiver Grassmannian associated to an indecomposable (not necessarily rigid) representation admits a cellular decomposition. As a corollary, we establish a cellular dec…
The category of Cohen-Macaulay modules of an algebra $B_{k,n}$ is used [JKS16] to give an additive categorification of the cluster algebra structure on the homogeneous coordinate ring of the Grassmannian of $k$-planes in $n$-space. In this paper, we find canonical Auslander--Reiten sequences and study the Auslander--Reiten translation periodicity for this category. Furthermore, we give an explicit construction of Cohen-Macaulay modules of arbitrary rank. We then use our results to establish a correspondence between rigid indecomposable modules of rank 2 and real roots of degree 2 for the assoc…
We study the maximal rigid subcategories in $2-$CY triangulated categories and their endomorphism algebras. Cluster tilting subcategories are obviously maximal rigid; we prove that the converse is true if the $2-$CY triangulated categories admit a cluster tilting subcategory. As a generalization of a result of [KR], we prove that any maximal rigid subcategory is Gorenstein with Gorenstein dimension at most 1. Similar as cluster tilting subcategory, one can mutate maximal rigid subcategories at any indecomposable object. If two maximal rigid objects are reachable via mutations, then their endom…
We propose a conjectural correspondence between the set of rigid indecomposable modules over the path algebras of acyclic quivers and the set of certain non-self-intersecting curves on Riemann surfaces, and prove the correspondence for the 2-complete rank 3 quivers.
In this paper, we show that for an algebra $Λ$ with radical square zero and an indecomposable $Λ$-module $M$ such that $Λ$ is Gorenstein of finite type or $τM$ is $τ$-rigid, $M$ is $τ$-rigid if and only if the first two projective terms of a minimal projective resolution of $M$ have no on-zero direct summands in common. We also determined all $τ$-tilting modules for Nakayama algebras with radical square zero. Moreover, by giving a construction theorem we show that a basic connected radical square zero algebra admitting a unique $τ$-tilting module is local.
We consider (iced) quiver with potential $(\bar{Q}(D), F(D), \bar{W}(D))$ associated to a Postnilov Diagram $D$ and prove the mutation of the quiver with potential $(\bare{Q}(D), F(D), \bar{W}(D))$ is compatible with the geometric exchange of the Postnikov diagram $D$. This ensures we may define a quiver with potential for a Grassmannian cluster algebra. We show such quiver with potential is always rigid (thus non-degenerate) and Jacobian-finite. And in fact, it is the unique non-degenerate (thus unique rigid) quiver with potential associated to the Grassmannian cluster algebra up to right-equ…
We prove that indecomposable transjective modules over cluster-tilted algebras are uniquely determined by their dimension vectors. Similarly, we prove that for cluster-concealed algebras, rigid modules lifting to rigid objects in the corresponding cluster category are uniquely determined by their dimension vectors. Finally, we apply our results to a conjecture of Fomin and Zelevinsky on denominators of cluster variables.
We give an algorithm for working out the indecomposable direct summands in a Krull--Schmidt decomposition of a tensor product of two simple modules for G=SL_3 in characteristics 2 and 3. It is shown that there is a finite family of modules such that every such indecomposable summand is expressible as a twisted tensor product of members of that family. Along the way we obtain the submodule structure of various Weyl and tilting modules. Some of the tilting modules that turn up in characteristic 3 are not rigid; these seem to provide the first example of non-rigid tilting modules for algebraic gr…
We continue our investigation on cluster algebras arising from cluster tubes. Let $\mathcal{C}$ be a cluster tube of rank $n+1$. For an arbitrary basic maximal rigid object $T$ of $\mathcal{C}$, one may associate a skew-symmetrizable integer matrix $B_T$ and hence a cluster algebra $\mathcal{A}(B_T)$ to $T$. We define an analogue Caldero-Chapoton map $\mathbb{X}_M^T$ for each indecomposable rigid object $M\in \mathcal{C}$ and prove that $\mathbb{X}_?^T$ yields a bijection between the indecomposable rigid objects of $\mathcal{C}$ and the cluster variables of the cluster algebra $\mathcal{A}(B_T…
Given a triangulated 2-Calabi-Yau category C and a cluster-tilting subcategory T, the index of an object X of C is a certain element of the Grothendieck group of the additive category T. In this note, we show that a rigid object of C is determined by its index, that the indices of the indecomposables of a cluster-tilting subcategory T' form a basis of the Grothendieck group of T and that, if T and T' are related by a mutation, then the indices with respect to T and T' are related by a certain piecewise linear transformation introduced by Fomin and Zelevinsky in their study of cluster algebras …
Let $\mathscr{C}$ be a 2-Calabi-Yau triangulated category, and let $\mathscr{T}$ be a cluster tilting subcategory of $\mathscr{C}$. An important result from Dehy and Keller tells us that a rigid object $c \in \mathscr{C}$ is uniquely defined by its index with respect to $\mathscr{T}$. The notion of triangulated categories extends to the notion of $(d+2)$-angulated categories. Thanks to a paper by Oppermann and Thomas, we now have a definition for cluster tilting subcategories in higher dimensions. This paper proves that under a technical assumption, an indecomposable object in a $(d+2)$-angula…
We study the structure of the indecomposable direct summands of tensor products of two restricted simple $SL_3(K)$-modules, where $K$ is an algebraically closed field of characteristic $p \geq 5$. We give a characteristic-free algorithm for the computation of the decomposition of such a tensor product into indecomposable modules. The $p<5$ case for $\SL_3(K)$ was studied in the authors' earlier paper. In this paper we show that for characteristics $p\geq 5$ all the indecomposable summands are rigid, in contrast to the situation in characteristic 3.
We construct Grassmannian categories of infinite rank, providing an infinite analogue of the Grassmannian cluster categories introduced by Jensen, King, and Su. Each Grassmannian category of infinite rank is given as the category of graded maximal Cohen-Macaulay modules over a certain hypersurface singularity. We show that generically free modules of rank $1$ in a Grassmannian category of infinite rank are in bijection with the Plücker coordinates in an appropriate Grassmannian cluster algebra of infinite rank. Moreover, this bijection is structure preserving, as it relates rigidity in the cat…
We study the cluster algebras arising from cluster tubes with rank bigger than $1$. Cluster tubes are $2-$Calabi-Yau triangulated categories which contain no cluster tilting objects, but maximal rigid objects. Fix a certain maximal rigid object $T$ in the cluster tube $\mathcal{C}_n$ of rank $n$. For any indecomposable rigid object $M$ in $\mathcal{C}_n$, we define an analogous $X_M$ of Caldero-Chapton's formula (or Palu's cluster character formula) by using the geometric information of $M$. We show that $X_M, X_{M'}$ satisfy the mutation formula when $M,M'$ form an exchange pair, and that $X_…
We study maximal $m$-rigid objects in the $m$-cluster category $\mathcal C_H^m$ associated with a finite dimensional hereditary algebra $H$ with $n$ nonisomorphic simple modules. We show that all maximal $m$-rigid objects in these categories have exactly $n$ nonisomorphic indecomposable summands, and that any almost complete $m$-rigid object in $\mathcal C_H^m$ has exactly $m+1$ nonisomorphic complements. We also show that the maximal $m$-rigid objects and the $m$-cluster tilting objects in these categories coincide, and that the class of finite dimensional algebras associated with maximal $m$…
The class of support $τ$-tilting modules was introduced to provide a completion of the class of tilting modules from the point of view of mutations. In this article we study $τ$-tilting finite algebras, i.e. finite dimensional algebras $A$ with finitely many isomorphism classes of indecomposable $τ$-rigid modules. We show that $A$ is $τ$-tilting finite if and only if very torsion class in $\mod A$ is functorially finite. We observe that cones generated by $g$-vectors of indecomposable direct summands of each support $τ$-tilting module form a simplicial complex $Δ(A)$. We show that if $A$ is $τ…
In this paper, we study a close relationship between relative cluster tilting theory in extriangulated categories and tau-tilting theory in module categories. Our main results show that relative rigid objects are in bijection with $τ$-rigid pairs, and also relative maximal rigid objects with support tau-tilting pairs under some assumptions. These results generalize their work by Adachi-Iyama-Reiten, Yang-Zhu and Fu-Geng-Liu. Finally, we introduce mutation of relative maximal rigid objects and show that any basic relative almost maximal rigid object has exactly two non-isomorphic indecomposable…
In this paper we study the Cartan matrix associated to the Ext-projective stratifying system induced by a basic and $τ$-rigid object $M$ in mod$(A)$ by means of the $g$-vectors of the indecomposable direct summands of $M$. In particular we show that the Cartan group of a stratifying system associated to a $τ$-rigid module can be calculated directly using these vectors. Moreover we characterise the stratifying systems coming from $τ$-rigid modules that have a diagonal Cartan matrix.
We study the module categories of a tilted algebra C and the corresponding cluster-tilted algebra B. We investigate how various properties of a C-module are affected when considered in the module category of B. We give a complete classification of the projective dimension of a C-module inside the module category of B. If a C-module M is rigid, we show two sufficient conditions for M to be a rigid B-module. In particular, if M is an indecomposable and rigid C-module, we prove M is always a rigid B-module.
Let $\FF$ be a finite field and $(Q,\bfd)$ an acyclic valued quiver with associated exchange matrix $\tilde{B}$. We follow Hubery's approach \cite{hub1} to prove our main conjecture of \cite{rupel}: the quantum cluster character gives a bijection from the isoclasses of indecomposable rigid valued representations of $Q$ to the set of non-initial quantum cluster variables for the quantum cluster algebra $\cA_{|\FF|}(\tilde{B},Λ)$. As a corollary we find that, for any rigid valued representation $V$ of $Q$, all Grassmannians of subrepresentations $Gr_\bfe^V$ have counting polynomials.

Let $U_q$ denote the quantum group associated with a finite dimensional semisimple Lie algebra. Assume that $q$ is a complex root of unity of odd order and that $U_q$ is %the quantum group version obtained via Lusztig's $q$-divided powers construction. We prove that all regular projective (tilting) modules for $U_q$ are rigid, i.e., have identical radical and socle filtrations. Moreover, we obtain the same for a large class of Weyl modules for $U_q$. On the other hand, we give examples of non-rigid indecomposable tilting modules as well as non-rigid Weyl modules. These examples are for type $B…
The paper explores the indecomposable submodule structures of quantum divided power algebra $\mathcal{A}_q(n)$ defined in \cite{HU} and its truncated objects $\mathcal{A}_q(n, \bold m)$. An "intertwinedly-lifting" method is established to prove the indecomposability of a module when its socle is non-simple. The Loewy filtrations are described for all homogeneous subspaces $\mathcal{A}^{(s)}_q(n)$ or $\mathcal{A}_q^{(s)}(n, \bold m)$, the Loewy layers and dimensions are determined. The rigidity of these indecomposable modules is proved. An interesting combinatorial identity is derived from our …
Let $C$ be a symmetrizable generalized Cartan matrix with symmetrizer $D$ and orientation $Ω$. In previous work we associated an algebra $H$ to this data, such that the locally free $H$-modules behave in many aspects like representations of a hereditary algebra $\tilde{H}$ of the corresponding type. We define a Noetherian algebra $\hat{H}$ over a power series ring, which provides a direct link between the representation theory of $H$ and of $\tilde{H}$. We define and study a reduction and a localization functor relating the module categories of these three types of algebras. These are used to …
Let $\mathcal{H}$ be a connected hereditary abelian category with tilting objects. It is proved that the cluster-tilting graph associated with $\mathcal{H}$ is always connected. As a consequence, we establish the connectedness of the tilting graph for the category $\operatorname{coh}\mathbb{X}$ of coherent sheaves over a weighted projective line $\mathbb{X}$ of wild type. The connectedness of tilting graphs for such categories was conjectured by Happel-Unger, which has immediately applications in cluster algebras. For instance, we deduce that there is a bijection between the set of indecomposa…
As a generalization of acyclic 2-Calabi-Yau categories, we consider 2-Calabi-Yau categories with a directed cluster-tilting subcategory; we study their cluster-tilting subcategories and the cluster combinatorics that they encode. We show that such categories have a cluster structure. Triangulated 2-Calabi-Yau categories with a directed cluster-tilting subcategory are closely related to representations of certain semi-hereditary categories, more specifically to representations of thread quivers. Thread quivers are a tool to classify and study certain semi-hereditary categories using both quiver…
Integral cluster categories of acyclic quivers have recently been used in the representation-theoretic approach to quantum cluster algebras. We show that over a principal ideal domain, such categories behave much better than one would expect: They can be described as orbit categories, their indecomposable rigid objects do not depend on the ground ring and the mutation operation is transitive.

The (usual) Caldero-Chapoton map is a map from the set of objects of a category to a Laurent polynomial ring over the integers. In the case of a cluster category, it maps "reachable" indecomposable objects to the corresponding cluster variables in a cluster algebra. This formalises the idea that the cluster category is a "categorification" of the cluster algebra. The definition of the Caldero-Chapoton map requires the category to be 2-Calabi-Yau, and the map depends on a cluster tilting object in the category. We study a modified version of the Caldero-Chapoton map which only requires the cate…
For a suitable triangulated category $\mathcal{T}$ with a Serre functor $S$ and a full precovering subcategory $\mathcal{C}$ closed under summands and extensions, an indecomposable object $C$ in $\mathcal{C}$ is called Ext-projective if Ext$^1(C,\mathcal{C})=0$. Then there is no Auslander-Reiten triangle in $\mathcal{C}$ with end term $C$. In this paper, we show that if, for such an object $C$, there is a minimal right almost split morphism $β:B\rightarrow C$ in $\mathcal{C}$, then $C$ appears in something very similar to an Auslander-Reiten triangle in $\mathcal{C}$: an essentially unique tri…
Starting from an arbitrary cluster-tilting object $T$ in a 2-Calabi--Yau category over an algebraically closed field, as in the setting of Keller and Reiten, we define, for each object $L$, a fraction $X(T,L)$ using a formula proposed by Caldero and Keller. We show that the map taking $L$ to $X(T,L)$ is a cluster character, i.e. that it satisfies a certain multiplication formula. We deduce that it induces a bijection, in the finite and the acyclic case, between the indecomposable rigid objects of the cluster category and the cluster variables, which confirms a conjecture of Caldero and Keller.
We construct tilting modules over Jacobian algebras arising from knots. To a two-bridge knot $L[a_1,\ldots,a_n]$, we associate a quiver $Q$ with potential and its Jacobian algebra $A$. We construct a family of canonical indecomposable $A$-modules $M(i)$, each supported on a different specific subquiver $Q(i)$ of $Q$. Each of the $M(i)$ is expected to parametrize the Jones polynomial of the knot. We study the direct sum $M=\oplus_iM(i)$ of these indecomposables inside the module category of $A$ as well as in the cluster category. In this paper we consider the special case where the two-bridge k…
Let $Q$ be a Dynkin quiver and $Π$ the corresponding set of positive roots. For the preprojective algebra $Λ$ associated to $Q$ we produce a rigid $Λ$-module $I_Q$ with $r=|Π|$ pairwise non-isomorphic indecomposable direct summands by pushing the injective modules of the Auslander algebra of $kQ$ to $Λ$. If $N$ is a maximal unipotent subgroup of a complex simply connected simple Lie group of type $|Q|$, then the coordinate ring $C[N]$ is an upper cluster algebra. We show that the elements of the dual semicanonical basis which correspond to the indecomposable direct summands of $I_Q$ coincide w…
The rank 1 bosonic ghost vertex algebra, also known as the $βγ$ ghosts, symplectic bosons or Weyl vertex algebra, is a simple example of a conformal field theory which is neither rational, nor $C_2$-cofinite. We identify a module category, denoted category $\mathscr{F}$, which satisfies three necessary conditions coming from conformal field theory considerations: closure under restricted duals, closure under fusion and closure under the action of the modular group on characters. We prove the second of these conditions, with the other two already being known. Further, we show that category $\ma…
We study the category of G(O)-equivariant perverse coherent sheaves on the affine Grassmannian of G. This coherent Satake category is not semisimple and its convolution product is not symmetric, in contrast with the usual constructible Satake category. Instead, we use the Beilinson-Drinfeld Grassmannian to construct renormalized r-matrices. These are canonical nonzero maps between convolution products which satisfy axioms weaker than those of a braiding. We also show that the coherent Satake category is rigid, and that together these results strongly constrain its convolution structure. In par…
