The category ${\rm CM}(B_{k,n}) $ of Cohen-Macaulay modules over a quotient $B_{k,n}$ of a preprojective algebra provides a categorification of the cluster algebra structure on the coordinate ring of the Grassmannian variety of $k$-dimensional subspaces in $\mathbb C^n$, \cite{JKS16}. Among the indecomposable modules in this category are the rank $1$ modules which are in bijection with $k$-subsets of $\{1,2,\dots,n\}$, and their explicit construction has been given by Jensen, King and Su. These are the building blocks of the category as any module in ${\rm CM}(B_{k,n}) $ can be filtered by them. In this paper we give an explicit construction of rank 2 modules. With this, we give all indecomposable rank 2 modules in the cases when $k=3$ and $k=4$. In particular, we cover the tame cases and go beyond them. We also characterise the modules among them which are uniquely determined by their filtrations. For $k\ge 4$, we exhibit infinite families of non-isomorphic rank 2 modules having the same filtration.
In this paper we study indecomposable rank 2 modules in the Grassmannian cluster category ${\rm CM}(B_{5,10})$. This is the smallest wild case containing modules whose profile layers are $5$-interlacing. We construct all rank 2 indecomposable modules with filtration $\{i,i+2,i+4,i+6,i+8\}\mid \{i+1,i+3,i+5,i+7,i+9\}$, classify them up to isomorphism, and parameterize all infinite families of non-isomorphic rank 2 modules.
In this article we describe indecomposable objects of the derived categories of a branch class of associative algebras. To this class belong such known classes of algebras as gentle algebras, skew-gentle algebras and certain degenerations of tubular algebras.
In this text, we characterize the representation type of an acyclic quiver by the properties of its associated quiver Grassmannians. This characterization utilizes and extends known results about singular quiver Grassmannians and cell decompositions into affine spaces. While all quiver Grassmannians for indecomposable representations of quivers of finite representation types $A$ and $D$ are smooth and admit cell decompositions, it turns out that all quiver Grassmannians for indecomposable representations of quivers of tame types $A$ and $D$ admit cell decompositions, but some of these quiver G…
We give a result of Auslander-Ringel-Tachikawa type for Gorenstein-projective modules over a complete Gorenstein order. In particular, we prove that a complete Gorenstein order is of finite Cohen-Macaulay representation type if and only if every indecomposable pure-injective object in the stable category of Gorenstein-projective modules is compact.
We study quiver Grassmannians associated with indecomposable representations of the Kronecker quiver. We find a cellular decomposition of them and we compute their Betti numbers. As an application, we give a geometric realization of the "canonical basis" of cluster algebras of Kronecker type (found by Sherman and Zelevinsky) and of type $A_2^{(1)}$.
Let $Q$ be a quiver of extended Dynkin type $D$. In this first of two papers, we show that the quiver Grassmannian $Gr_e(M)$ has a decomposition into affine spaces for every dimension vector $e$ and every indecomposable representation $M$ of defect $-1$ and defect $0$, with exception of the non-Schurian representations in homogeneous tubes. We characterize the affine spaces in terms of the combinatorics of a fixed coefficient quiver for $M$. The method of proof is to exhibit explicit equations for the Schubert cells of $Gr_e(M)$ and to solve this system of equations successively in linear term…
Rank $1$ modules are the building blocks of the category ${\rm CM}(B_{k,n}) $ of Cohen-Macaulay modules over a quotient $B_{k,n}$ of a preprojective algebra of affine type $A$. Jensen, King and Su showed in \cite{JKS16} that the category ${\rm CM}(B_{k,n})$ provides an additive categorification of the cluster algebra structure on the coordinate ring $\mathbb C[{\rm Gr}(k, n)]$ of the Grassmannian variety of $k$-dimensional subspaces in $\mathbb C^n$. Rank $1$ modules are indecomposable, they are known to be in bijection with $k$-subsets of $\{1,2,\dots,n\}$, and their explicit construction has…
We describe diagrammatically a positively graded Koszul algebra \mathbb{D}_k such that the category of finite dimensional \mathbb{D}_k-modules is equivalent to the category of perverse sheaves on the isotropic Grassmannian of type D_k constructible with respect to the Schubert stratification. The connection is given by an explicit isomorphism to the endomorphism algebra of a projective generator described in by Braden. The algebra is obtained by a "folding" procedure from the generalized Khovanov arc algebras. We relate this algebra to the category of finite dimensional representations of the …
We provide a technique to compute the Euler characteristic of a class of projective varieties called quiver Grassmannians. This technique applies to quiver Grassmannians associated with "orientable string modules". As an application we explicitly compute the Euler characteristic of quiver Grassmannians associated with indecomposable preprojective, preinjective and regular homogeneous representations of an affine quiver of type $\tilde{A}_{p,1}$. For $p=1$, this approach provides another proof of a result due to P. Caldero and A. Zelevinsky in \cite{CZ}.
We construct Grassmannian categories of infinite rank, providing an infinite analogue of the Grassmannian cluster categories introduced by Jensen, King, and Su. Each Grassmannian category of infinite rank is given as the category of graded maximal Cohen-Macaulay modules over a certain hypersurface singularity. We show that generically free modules of rank $1$ in a Grassmannian category of infinite rank are in bijection with the Plücker coordinates in an appropriate Grassmannian cluster algebra of infinite rank. Moreover, this bijection is structure preserving, as it relates rigidity in the cat…
This short note is an extended abstract for my talk at the Nottingham Online Algebraic Geometry Seminar on October 1, 2020. It is based on the joint works with Alexander Kuznetsov arXiv:1802.08097 and arXiv:2001.04148.
We study the homotopy category $ K(\Inj A)$ of all injective modules over a finite dimensional algebra $A$ with discrete derived category. We give a classification of the indecomposable objects of $ K(\Inj A)$ for any radical square zero self-injective algebra $A$. In particular, every indecomposable object is endofinite.
We study Karoubian tensor categories which interpolate representation categories of families of so-called easy quantum groups in the same sense in which Deligne's interpolation categories $\mathrm{\underline{Rep}}(S_t)$ interpolate the representation categories of the symmetric groups. As such categories can be described using a graphical calculus of partitions, we call them interpolating partition categories. They include $\mathrm{\underline{Rep}}(S_t)$ as a special case and can generally be viewed as subcategories of the latter. Focusing on semisimplicity and descriptions of the indecomposab…
We describe a ring whose category of Cohen-Macaulay modules provides an additive categorification of the cluster algebra structure on the homogeneous coordinate ring of the Grassmannian of k-planes in n-space. More precisely, there is a cluster character defined on the category which maps the rigid indecomposable objects to the cluster variables and the maximal rigid objects to clusters. This is proved by showing that the quotient of this category by a single projective-injective object is Geiss-Leclerc-Schroer's category Sub $Q_k$, which categorifies the coordinate ring of the big cell in thi…
We give a geometric realization of cluster categories of type $D_n$ using a polygon with $n$ vertices and one puncture in its center as a model. In this realization, the indecomposable objects of the cluster category correspond to certain homotopy classes of paths between two vertices.
Let $\mathscr{C}$ be a 2-Calabi-Yau triangulated category, and let $\mathscr{T}$ be a cluster tilting subcategory of $\mathscr{C}$. An important result from Dehy and Keller tells us that a rigid object $c \in \mathscr{C}$ is uniquely defined by its index with respect to $\mathscr{T}$. The notion of triangulated categories extends to the notion of $(d+2)$-angulated categories. Thanks to a paper by Oppermann and Thomas, we now have a definition for cluster tilting subcategories in higher dimensions. This paper proves that under a technical assumption, an indecomposable object in a $(d+2)$-angula…
In this paper we study extensions between Cohen-Macaulay modules for algebras arising in the categorifications of Grassmannian cluster algebras. We prove that rank 1 modules are periodic, and we give explicit formulas for the computation of the period based solely on the rim of the rank 1 module in question. We determine ${\rm Ext}^i(L_I, L_J)$ for arbitrary rank 1 modules $L_I$ and $L_J$. An explicit combinatorial algorithm is given for computation of ${\rm Ext}^i(L_I, L_J)$ when $i$ is odd, and for $i$ even, we show that ${\rm Ext}^i(L_I, L_J)$ is cyclic over the centre, and we give an expli…
By using the approach in \cite{XX2006} to Hall algebras arising in homologically finite triangulated categories, we find an `almost' associative multiplication structure for indecomposable objects in a 2-periodic triangulated category. As an application, we give a new proof of the theorem of Peng and Xiao in \cite{PX2000} which provides a way of realizing symmetrizable Kac-Moody algebras and elliptic Lie algebras via 2-periodic triangulated categories.
We derive an algorithm for mutating quivers of 2-CY tilted algebras that have loops and 2-cycles, under certain specific conditions. Further, we give the classification of the 2-CY tilted algebras coming from standard algebraic 2-CY triangulated categories with a finite number of indecomposables. These form a class of algebras that satisfy the setup for our mutation algorithm.
The category of Cohen-Macaulay modules of an algebra $B_{k,n}$ is used [JKS16] to give an additive categorification of the cluster algebra structure on the homogeneous coordinate ring of the Grassmannian of $k$-planes in $n$-space. In this paper, we find canonical Auslander--Reiten sequences and study the Auslander--Reiten translation periodicity for this category. Furthermore, we give an explicit construction of Cohen-Macaulay modules of arbitrary rank. We then use our results to establish a correspondence between rigid indecomposable modules of rank 2 and real roots of degree 2 for the assoc…
We associate a dimer algebra A to a Postnikov diagram D (in a disk) corresponding to a cluster of minors in the cluster structure of the Grassmannian Gr(k,n). We show that A is isomorphic to the endomorphism algebra of a corresponding Cohen-Macaulay module T over the algebra B used to categorify the cluster structure of Gr(k,n) by Jensen-King-Su. It follows that B can be realised as the boundary algebra of A, that is, the subalgebra eAe for an idempotent e corresponding to the boundary of the disk. The construction and proof uses an interpretation of the diagram D, with its associated plabic g…
We introduce the Calabi-Yau (CY) objects in a Hom-finite Krull-Schmidt triangulated $k$-category, and notice that the structure of the minimal, consequently all the CY objects, can be described. The relation between indecomposable CY objects and Auslander-Reiten triangles is provided. Finally we classify all the CY modules of self-injective Nakayama algebras, determining this way the self-injective Nakayama algebras admitting indecomposable CY modules. In particular, this result recovers the algebras whose stable categories are Calabi-Yau, which have been obtained in [BS].
We study simple and projective modules of a certain class of Ehresmann semigroups, a well-studied generalization of inverse semigroups. Let $S$ be a finite right (left) restriction Ehresmann semigroup whose corresponding Ehresmann category is an EI-category, that is, every endomorphism is an isomorphism. We show that the collection of finite right restriction Ehresmann semigroups whose categories are EI is a pseudovariety. We prove that the simple modules of the semigroup algebra $\Bbbk S$ (over any field $\Bbbk$) are formed by inducing the simple modules of the maximal subgroups of $S$ via th…
We determine the derived representation types of algebras with radical square zero and give a description of the indecomposable objects in their bounded derived categories.
For each integer $k\geq 4$ we describe diagrammatically a positively graded Koszul algebra $\mathbb{D}_k$ such that the category of finite dimensional $\mathbb{D}_k$-modules is equivalent to the category of perverse sheaves on the isotropic Grassmannian of type ${\rm D}_k$ or ${\rm B}_{k-1}$, constructible with respect to the Schubert stratification. The algebra is obtained by a (non-trivial) ``folding'' procedure from a generalized Khovanov arc algebra. Properties like graded cellularity and explicit closed formulas for graded decomposition numbers are established by elementary tools.
Let $A$ be a hereditary algebra. We construct a fundamental domain for the cluster category of $A$ inside the category of modules over the duplicated algebra $\bar{A}$ of $A$. We then prove that there exists a bijection between the tilting objects in the cluster category and the tilting $\bar{A}$-modules all of whose non projective-injective indecomposable summands lie in the left part of the module category of $\bar{A}$.
In our previous paper we suggested a conjecture relating the structure of the small quantum cohomology ring of a smooth Fano variety to the structure of its derived category of coherent sheaves. Here we generalize this conjecture, make it more precise, and support by the examples of (co)adjoint homogeneous varieties of simple algebraic groups of Dynkin types $A_n$ and $D_n$, i.e., flag varieties $Fl(1,n;n+1)$ and isotropic orthogonal Grassmannians $OG(2,2n)$; in particular we construct on each of those an exceptional collection invariant with respect to the entire automorphism group. For $OG(2…
In the context of representation theory of finite dimensional algebras, string algebras have been extensively studied and most aspects of their representation theory are well-understood. One exception to this is the classification of extensions between indecomposable modules. In this paper we explicitly describe such extensions for a class of string algebras, namely gentle algebras associated to surface triangulations. These algebras arise as Jacobian algebras of unpunctured surfaces. We relate the extension spaces of indecomposable modules to crossings of arcs in the surface and give explicit…
C. Amiot has classified the connected triangulated k-categories with finitely many isoclasses of indecomposables satisfying suitable hypotheses. We remark that her proof shows that these triangulated categories are determined by their underlying k-linear categories. We observe that if the connectedness assumption is dropped, the triangulated categories are still determined by their underlying k-categories together with the action of the suspension functor on the set of isoclasses of indecomposables.
In this article we classify indecomposable objects of the derived categories of finitely-generated modules over certain infinite-dimensional algebras. The considered class of algebras (which we call nodal algebras) contains such well-known algebras as the complete ring of a double nodal point $\kk[[x,y]]/(xy)$ and the completed path algebra of the Gelfand quiver. As a corollary we obtain a description of the derived category of Harish-Chandra modules over $SL_{2}({\mathbb R})$. We also give an algorithm, which allows to construct projective resolutions of indecomposable complexes. In the appen…
We give bounds on the global dimension of a finite length, piecewise hereditary category in terms of quantitative connectivity properties of its graph of indecomposables. We use this to show that the global dimension of a finite dimensional, piecewise hereditary algebra A cannot exceed 3 if A is an incidence algebra of a finite poset or more generally, a sincere algebra. This bound is tight.
We study the maximal rigid subcategories in $2-$CY triangulated categories and their endomorphism algebras. Cluster tilting subcategories are obviously maximal rigid; we prove that the converse is true if the $2-$CY triangulated categories admit a cluster tilting subcategory. As a generalization of a result of [KR], we prove that any maximal rigid subcategory is Gorenstein with Gorenstein dimension at most 1. Similar as cluster tilting subcategory, one can mutate maximal rigid subcategories at any indecomposable object. If two maximal rigid objects are reachable via mutations, then their endom…
We study endomorphism algebras of 2-term silting complexes in derived categories of hereditary finite dimensional algebras, or more generally of $\mathop{\rm Ext}\nolimits$-finite hereditary abelian categories. Module categories of such endomorphism algebras are known to occur as hearts of certain bounded $t$-structures in such derived categories. We show that the algebras occurring are exactly the algebras of small homological dimension, which are algebras characterized by the property that each indecomposable module either has injective dimension at most one, or it has projective dimension a…
Skew-gentle algebras are a generalisation of the well-known class of gentle algebras with which they share many common properties. In this work, using non-commutative Gröbner basis theory, we show that these algebras are Koszul and that the Koszul dual is again skew-gentle. We give a geometric model of their bounded derived categories in terms of polygonal dissections of orbifold surfaces establishing a correspondence between curves in the orbifold and indecomposable objects. Moreover, we show that the orbifold dissections encode homological properties of skew-gentle algebras such as their sin…
We study the problem of classifying triangulated categories with finite-dimensional morphism spaces and finitely many indecomposables over an algebraically closed field. We obtain a new proof of the following result due to Xiao and Zhu: the Auslander-Reiten quiver of such a category is of the form $\mathbb{Z}Δ/G$ where $Δ$ is a disjoint union of simply laced Dynkin diagrams and $G$ a weakly admissible group of automorphisms of $\mathbb{Z}Δ$. Then we prove that for `most' groups $G$, the category $\T$ is standard, \emph{i.e.} $k$-linearly equivalent to an orbit category $\mathcal{D}^b(\modd kΔ)…
We construct continuous Frobenius categories of type $D$. The stable categories of these Frobenius categories are cluster categories which contain the standard cluster categories of type $D_n$. When $n=\infty$, maximal compatible sets of indecomposable objects are laminations of the punctured disk. Discrete laminations are clusters. This new construction is topological and it also gives an algebraic interpretation of the "tagged arcs" which occur in Schiffler's geometric description of clusters of type $D_n$.
We consider the category of modules over the affine Kac-Moody algebra g^ of critical level with regular central character. In our previous paper math.RT/0508382 we conjectured that this category is equivalent to the category of Hecke eigen-D-modules on the affine Grassmannian G((t))/G[[t]]. This conjecture was motivated by our proposal for a local geometric Langlands correspondence. In this paper we prove this conjecture for the corresponding I^0 equivariant categories, where I^0 is the radical of the Iwahori subgroup of G((t)). Our result may be viewed as an affine analogue of the equivalence…
We describe the structure of module categories of finite dimensional algebras over an algebraically closed field for which the cycles of nonzero nonisomorphisms between indecomposable finite dimensional modules are finite (do not belong to the infinite Jacobson radical of the module category). Moreover, geometric and homological properties of these module categories are exhibited.
We describe the modules in the Ziegler closure of ray and coray tubes in module categories over finite-dimensional algebras. We improve slightly on Krause's result for stable tubes by showing that the inverse limit along a coray in a ray or coray tube is indecomposable, so in particular, the inverse limit along a coray in a stable tube is indecomposable. In order to do all this, we first describe the finitely presented modules over and the Ziegler spectra of iterated one-point extensions of valuation domains. Finally we give a sufficient condition for the $k$-dual of a $Σ$-pure-injective modul…
Let $\mathcal{H}$ be a connected hereditary abelian category with tilting objects. It is proved that the cluster-tilting graph associated with $\mathcal{H}$ is always connected. As a consequence, we establish the connectedness of the tilting graph for the category $\operatorname{coh}\mathbb{X}$ of coherent sheaves over a weighted projective line $\mathbb{X}$ of wild type. The connectedness of tilting graphs for such categories was conjectured by Happel-Unger, which has immediately applications in cluster algebras. For instance, we deduce that there is a bijection between the set of indecomposa…
We introduce a new class of autoequivalences that act on the derived categories of certain vector bundles over Grassmannians. These autoequivalences arise from Grassmannian flops: they generalize Seidel-Thomas spherical twists, which can be seen as arising from standard flops. We first give a simple algebraic construction, which is well-suited to explicit computations. We then give a geometric construction using spherical functors which we prove is equivalent.
We study extension spaces, cotorsion pairs and their mutations in the cluster category of a marked surface without punctures. Under the one-to-one correspondence between the curves, valued closed curves in the marked surface and the indecomposable objects in the associated cluster category, we prove that the dimension of extension space of two indecomposable objects in the cluster categories equals to the intersection number of the corresponding curves. By using this result, we prove that there are no non-trivial $t-$structures in the cluster categories when the surface is connected. Based on …
