We generalize local operators of the leading twist-2 of N=4 SYM theory to the case of complex Lorentz spin j using principal series representation of sl(2,R). We give the direct computation of correlation function of two such non-local operators in the BFKL regime when j -> 1. The correlator appears to have the expected conformal coordinate dependence governed by the anomalous dimension of twist-2 operator in NLO BFKL approximation predicted by Kotikov and Lipatov.
We compute the correlation function of three twist-2 operators in N = 4 SYM in the leading BFKL approximation at any N_c. In this limit, the result is applicable to other gauge theories, including QCD.
We present calculation of the correlation function of three twist-2 operators in the BFKL limit. The calculation is performed in N = 4 SYM but the result is valid in other gauge theories such as QCD. The obtained leading order structure constant is exact for any number of colors.
Within the conjectured duality between N=4 super Yang-Mills and Anti-deSitter string theory, the BFKL Pomeron of the gauge theory corresponds to the graviton mode of the dual string. As a first step towards analyzing multigraviton exchange, we investigate R-current six-point functions within the supergravity approximation. We compute the analogue of diffractive scattering, and we analyze the triple Regge limit. In the supergravity approximation the triple graviton vertex is found to vanish.
We discuss a residual freedom of the next-to-leading BFKL eigenvalue that originates from ambiguity in redistributing the next-to-leading~(NLO) corrections between the adjoint BFKL eigenvalue and eigenfunctions in planar $\mathcal{N}=4$ super-Yang-Mills~(SYM) Theory. In terms of the remainder function of the Bern-Dixon-Smirnov~(BDS) amplitude this freedom is translated to reshuffling correction between the eigenvalue and the impact factors in the multi-Regge kinematics~(MRK) in the next-to-leading logarithm approximation~(NLA). We show that the modified NLO BFKL eigenvalue suggested by the aut…
The high-energy behavior of the N=4 SYM amplitudes in the Regge limit can be calculated order by order in perturbation theory using the high-energy operator expansion in Wilson lines. At large $N_c$, a typical four-point amplitude is determined by a single BFKL pomeron. The conformal structure of the four-point amplitude is fixed in terms of two functions: pomeron intercept and the coefficient function in front of the pomeron (the product of two residues). The pomeron intercept is universal while the coefficient function depends on the correlator in question. The intercept is known in the firs…
The structure constants of twist-two operators with spin $j$ in the BFKL limit $g^2\rightarrow 0, j\rightarrow 1$ but ${g^2\over j-1}\sim 1$ are determined from the calculation of the three-point correlator of twist-two light-ray operators in the triple Regge limit. It is well known that the anomalous dimensions of twist-two operators in this limit are determined by the BFKL intercept. Similarly, the obtained structure constants are determined by an analytic function of three BFKL intercepts.
We consider N=4 SYM and a class of spin N, length-3, twist operators beyond the well studied sl(2) subsector. They can be identified at one-loop with three gluon operators. At strong coupling, they are associated with spinning strings with two spins in AdS5. We exploit the Y-system to compute the leading weak-coupling four loop wrapping correction to their anomalous dimension. The result is written in closed form as a function of the spin N. We combine the wrapping correction with the known four-loop asymptotic Bethe Ansatz contribution and analyze special limits in the spin N. In particular, …
Using the requirement of Möbius invariance of ${\cal N}$=4 SYM amplitudes in the Regge limit we restore the conformal NLO BFKL kernel out of the eigenvalues known from the forward NLO BFKL result.
DGLAP and BFKL equations are among the cornestones of the contemporary QCD. Moreover, they also played an important role in the recent studies of integrability structure of $\mathcal{N}=4$ SYM. Here, we review the results obtained along this way together with a brief account of approaches and methods used.
We find the eigenvalue of the kernel of BFKL equation in the next-to-next-to-leading logarithm approximation in the planar N=4 SM theory from the constraints, coming from the six-loop anomalous dimension of twist-2 operators and known large-gamma limit.
We obtain an analytical expression for the Next-to-Next-to-Leading order of the Balitsky-Fadin-Kuraev-Lipatov (BFKL) Pomeron eigenvalue in planar SYM N=4 using Quantum Spectral Curve (QSC) integrability based method. The result is verified with more than 60 digits precision using the numerical method developed by us in a previous paper. As a byproduct we developed a general analytic method of solving the QSC perturbatively.
We analyze a modification of the BFKL kernel for the adjoint representation of the colour group in the maximally supersymmetric (N=4) Yang-Mills theory in the limit of a large number of colours, related to the modification of the eigenvalues of the kernel suggested by S. Bondarenko and A. Prygarin in order to reach the Hermitian separability of the eigenvalues. We restore the modified kernel in the momentum space. It turns out that the modification is related only to the real part of the kernel and that the correction to the kernel can not be presented by a single analytic function in the enti…
We review the applications of the Quantum Spectral Curve (QSC) method to the Regge (BFKL) limit in N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory. QSC, based on quantum integrability of the AdS$_5$/CFT$_4$ duality, was initially developed as a tool for the study of the spectrum of anomalous dimensions of local operators in the N=4 SYM in the planar, $N_c\to\infty$ limit. We explain how to apply the QSC for the BFKL limit, which requires non-trivial analytic continuation in spin $S$ and extends the initial construction to non-local light-ray operators. We give a brief review of high precision non-perturb…
We find the eigenvalue of the kernel of BFKL equation in the next-to-next-to-next-to-leading logarithm approximation (NNNLLA) in the planar N=4 SYM theory by using the quantum spectral curve to compute values at fixed spin, and reconstructing the general result using the LLL-algorithm, which also was used for the reconstruction of the general result for the intercept function for arbitrary conformal spin at fourth order, computed earlier in paper 1802.06908 up to the rational part. We have found, that a new type of harmonic sums enter into results. Those sums have the argument multiplied by fa…
We study MHV amplitude for the 2 -> 5 scattering in the multi-Regge kinematics. The Mandelstam cut correction to the BDS amplitude is calculated in the leading logarithmic approximation (LLA) and the corresponding remainder function is given to any loop order in a closed integral form. We show that the LLA remainder function at two loops for 2 -> 5 amplitude can be written as a sum of two 2 -> 4 remainder functions due to recursive properties of the leading order impact factors. We also make some generalizations for the MHV amplitudes with more external particles. The results of the present st…
We consider the multi-Regge limit for N=4 SYM NMHV leading color amplitudes in two different formulations: the BFKL formalism for multi-Regge amplitudes in leading logarithm approximation, and superconformal N=4 SYM amplitudes. It is shown that the two approaches agree to two-loops for the 2->4 and 3->3 six-point amplitudes. Predictions are made for the multi-Regge limit of three loop 2->4 and 3->3 NMHV amplitudes, as well as a particular sub-set of two loop 2 ->2 +n N^kMHV amplitudes in the multi-Regge limit in the leading logarithm approximation from the BFKL point of view.
The anomalous dimensions of twist two operators have to satisfy certain consistency requirements derived from BFKL. For N=4 SYM it was shown that at four loops, the anomalous dimensions derived from the all-loop asymptotic Bethe ansatz do not pass this test. In this paper we obtain the remaining wrapping part of these anomalous dimensions from string theory and show that these contributions exactly cure the problem and lead to agreement with both LO and NLO BFKL expectations.
This thesis describes progresses made by the author and collaborators in the positive geometry description of superamplitudes and supercorrelators in planar N = 4 SYM.
We point out that an infinite class of Witten diagrams is invariant under a Yangian symmetry. These diagrams are building blocks of holographic correlators and are related by a web of differential recursion relations. We show that Yangian invariance is equivalent to the consistency conditions of the recursion relations.
We present a calculation of the correlator <0|T^{++}(r) T^{++}(0) |0> in N=1 SYM theory in 2+1 dimensions. In the calculation, we use supersymmetric discrete light-cone quantization (SDLCQ), which preserves the supersymmetry at every step of the calculation. For small and intermediate r the correlator converges rapidly for all couplings. At small r the correlator behaves like 1/r^6, as expected. At large r the correlator is dominated by the BPS states of the theory. We find a critical coupling where the large-r correlator goes to zero; it grows like the square root of the transverse cutoff.
We show that next-to-extremal correlators of chiral primary operators in N=4 SYM theory do not receive quantum corrections to first order in perturbation theory. Furthermore we consider next-to-extremal correlators within AdS supergravity. Here the exchange diagrams contributing to these correlators yield results of the same free-field form as obtained within field theory. This suggests that quantum corrections vanish at strong coupling as well.
We consider four-point correlation functions of protected single-trace scalar operators in planar N = 4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills (SYM). We conjecture that all loop corrections derive from an integrand which enjoys a ten-dimensional symmetry. This symmetry combines spacetime and R-charge transformations. By considering a 10D light-like limit, we extend the correlator/amplitude duality by equating large R-charge octagons with Coulomb branch scattering amplitudes. Using results from integrability, this predicts new finite amplitudes as well as some Feynman integrals.
We study the two circular Wilson loop correlator in which one is of anti-symmetric representation, while the other is of fundamental representation in 4-dimensional ${\cal N}=4$ super Yang-Mills theory. This correlator has a good AdS dual, which is a system of a D5-brane and a fundamental string. We calculated the on-shell action of the string, and clarified the Gross-Ooguri transition in this correlator. Some limiting cases are also examined.
N-point correlation functions of conserved currents and weight-two scalar operators of the three-dimensional free fermion vector model are found as invariants of the higher-spin symmetry in four-dimensional AdS. These are the correlators of the unbroken Vasiliev higher-spin theory. The results extend the recent work arXiv:1210.7963 and are complementary to arXiv:1301.3123 where the correlators were computed entirely on the boundary.
We study the two-point correlators of the currents of the $E_8$ global symmetry in the $N=(1,0)$ superconformal six-dimensional theory as well as in the 4D superconformal theories upon toroidal compactification. From the high-energy behavior of the correlator we deduce that in 4D 10 copies of the superconformal theory with $E_8$ global symmetry can be coupled to an N=2 $E_8$ gauge theory. We present three alternative derivations for the expression for the correlators. One from field-theory, one from M-theory and one from F-theory.
A class of exact non-renormalized extremal correlators of half-BPS operators in N=4 SYM, with U(N) gauge group, is shown to satisfy finite factorization equations reminiscent of topological gauge theories. The finite factorization equations can be generalized, beyond the extremal case, to a class of correlators involving observables with a simple pattern of SO(6) charges. The simple group theoretic form of the correlators allows equalities between ratios of correlators in N=4 SYM and Wilson loops in Chern-Simons theories at k=\infty, correlators of appropriate observables in topological G/G mo…
We study one and two point functions of conformal field theories on spaces of maximal symmetry with and without boundaries and investigate their spectral representations. Integral transforms are found, relating the spectral decomposition to renormalized position space correlators. Several applications are presented, including the holographic boundary CFTs as well as spacelike boundary CFTs, which provide realizations of the pseudo-conformal universe.
We study correlation functions of single-cycle chiral operators in the symmetric product orbifold of N supersymmetric four-tori. Correlators of twist operators are evaluated on covering surfaces, generally of different genera, where fields are single-valued. We compute some simple four-point functions and study how the sum over inequivalent branched covering maps splits under OPEs. We then discuss extremal n-point correlators, i.e. correlators of n-1 chiral and one anti-chiral operators. They obey simple recursion relations involving numbers obtained from counting branched covering maps with p…
We consider the correlator of two concentric circular Wilson loops with equal radii for arbitrary spatial and internal separation at strong coupling within a defect version of $\mathcal{N}=4$ SYM. Compared to the standard Gross-Ooguri phase transition between connected and disconnected minimal surfaces, a more complicated pattern of saddle-points contributes to the two-circles correlator due to the defect's presence. We analyze the transitions between different kinds of minimal surfaces and their dependence on the setting's numerous parameters.
The generating functions for the Wilson loops in the symmetric and antisymmetric representations of the gauge group $U(N)$ are expressed in terms of the connected correlators of multiply-wound Wilson loops, using ingredients from the representation theory of the symmetric group. This provides a proof of a recent observation by Okuyama. As a by-product, we present a new calculation of the connected 2-point correlator of multiply-wound Wilson loops at leading order in $1/N$.
We developed a general non-perturbative framework for the BFKL spectrum of planar N=4 SYM, based on the Quantum Spectral Curve (QSC). It allows one to study the spectrum in the whole generality, extending previously known methods to arbitrary values of conformal spin $n$. We show how to apply our approach to reproduce all known perturbative results for the Balitsky-Fadin-Kuraev-Lipatov (BFKL) Pomeron eigenvalue and get new predictions. In particular, we re-derived the Faddeev-Korchemsky Baxter equation for the Lipatov spin chain with non-zero conformal spin reproducing the corresponding BFKL k…
We study the connected correlator of 1/2 BPS winding Wilson loops in $\mathcal{N}=4$ $U(N)$ super Yang-Mills theory, where those Wilson loops are on top of each other along the same circle. We find the exact finite $N$ expression of the connected correlator of such Wilson loops. We show that the $1/N$ expansion of this exact result is reproduced from the topological recursion of Gaussian matrix model. We also study the exact finite $N$ expression of the generating function of 1/2 BPS Wilson loops in the symmetric representation.
The evaluation of field theoretic correlators at strong couplings is especially interesting in the light of recently discovered string/field theory correspondences. We present a calculation of the stress-tensor correlator in N=1 SYM theory in 2+1 dimensions. We calculate this object numerically with the method of supersymmetric discrete light-cone quantization (SDLCQ) at large N_c. For small distances we reproduce the conformal field theory result with the correlator behaving like 1/r^6. In the large r limit the correlator is determined by the (massless) BPS states of the theory. We find a cri…
We obtain the planar correlation function of four half-BPS operators of arbitrary weights, up to three loops. Our method exploits only elementary properties of the integrand of the planar correlator, such as its symmetries and singularity structure. This allows us to write down a general ansatz for the integrand. The coefficients in the ansatz are fixed by means of a powerful light-cone OPE relation between correlators with different weights. Our result is formulated in terms of a limited number of functions built from known one-, two- and three-loop conformal integrals. These results are usef…
We calculate the four-point correlation function of half-BPS operators with weights 2, 3, 3, 4 in N=4 SYM to two-loop order. The OPE of this correlation function provides a nontrivial check of the integrability conjecture for a class of three-point functions formulated in arXiv:1311.6404. Our perturbative calculation exploits the supergraph formalism in N=2 harmonic superspace.
An integrated correlator of four superconformal stress-tensor primaries of $\mathcal{N}=4$ supersymmetric $SU(N)$ Yang-Mills theory (SYM), originally obtained by localisation, is re-expressed as a two-dimensional lattice sum that is manifestly invariant under $SL(2,\mathbb{Z})$ S-duality. This expression is shown to satisfy a novel Laplace equation in the complex coupling constant $τ$ that relates the $SU(N)$ integrated correlator to those of the $SU(N+1)$ and $SU(N-1)$ theories. The lattice sum is shown to precisely reproduce known perturbative and non-perturbative properties of $\mathcal{N}=…
How much spectral information is needed to determine the correlation functions of a conformal theory? We study this question in the context of planar supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory, where integrability techniques accurately determine the single-trace spectrum at finite 't Hooft coupling. Corresponding OPE coefficients are constrained by dispersive sum rules, which implement crossing symmetry. Focusing on correlators of four stress-tensor multiplets, we construct combinations of sum rules which determine one-loop correlators, and we study a numerical bootstrap problem that nonperturbatively b…
A non-trivial consequence of the super-correlator/super-amplitude duality is that the integrand of the four-point correlation function of stress-tensor multiplets in planar N=4 super Yang-Mills contains a certain combination of n-point amplitude integrands for any n. This combination is the sum of products of all helicity super-amplitudes with their corresponding helicity conjugates. The four-point correlator itself is described by a single scalar function whose loop level integrands possess a hidden permutation symmetry facilitating its computation up to ten loops. We discover that assuming Y…
We exploit null vectors of the fractional Virasoro algebra of the symmetric product orbifold to compute correlation functions of twist fields in the large $N$ limit. This yields a new method to derive correlation functions in these orbifold CFTs that is purely based on the symmetry algebra. We explore various generalisations, such as subleading (torus) contributions or correlation functions of other fields than the bare twist fields. We comment on the consequences of our computation for the $\text{AdS}_3/\text{CFT}_2$ correspondence.
We show that extremal correlators of chiral primary operators in N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory with SU(N) gauge group are neither renormalised at first order in perturbation theory nor receive contribution from any instanton sector at leading order in the semiclassical expansion. This lends support to the strongest version of a new prediction recently put forward on the basis of the AdS/SCFT correspondence.
Two- and three-point correlation functions of arbitrary protected operators are constructed in N=4 SYM using analytic superspace methods. The OPEs of two chiral primary multiplets are given. It is shown that the $n$-point functions of protected operators for $n\leq4$ are invariant under $U(1)_Y$ and it is argued that this implies that the two- and three-point functions are not renormalised. It is shown explicitly how unprotected operators can be accommodated in the analytic superspace formalism in a way which is fully compatible with analyticity. Some new extremal correlators are exhibited.

We calculate transition probabilities for various processes involving giant gravitons and small gravitons in AdS space, using the dual N=4 SYM theory. The normalization factors for these probabilities involve, in general, correlators for manifolds of non-trivial topology which are obtained by gluing simpler four-manifolds. This follows from the factorization properties which relate CFT correlators for different topologies. These points are illustrated, in the first instance, in the simpler example of a two dimensional Matrix CFT. We give the bulk five dimensional interpretation, involving neig…
We analyze the possibility of extracting S matrices on pp waves and flat space from SYM correlators. For pp waves, there is a subtlety in defining S matrices, but we can certainly obtain observables. Only extremal correlators survive the pp wave limit. A first quantized string approach is inconclusive, producing in the simplest form results that vanish in the pp wave limit. We define a procedure to get S matrices from SYM correlators, both for flat space and for pp waves, generalizing a procedure due to Giddings. We analyze nonrenormalized correlators: 2 and 3 -point functions and extremal cor…
Certain two and three point functions of gauge invariant primary operators of ${\cal N}=4$ SYM are computed in ${\cal N}=1$ superspace keeping all the $þ$-components. This allows one to read off many component descendent correlators. Our results show the only possible $g^2_{YM}$ corrections to the free field correlators are contact terms. Therefore they vanish for operators at separate points, verifying the known non-renormalization theorems. This also implies the results are consistent with ${\cal N}=4$ supersymmetry even though the Lagrangian we use has only ${\cal N}=1$ manifest supersymmet…
We continue the study of the duality between super-correlators and scattering super-amplitudes in planar N=4 SYM. We provide a number of further examples supporting the conjectured duality relation between these two seemingly different objects. We consider the five- and six-point one-loop NMHV and the six-point tree-level NNMHV amplitudes, obtaining them from the appropriate correlators of strength tensor multiplets in N=4 SYM. In particular, we find exact agreement between the rather non-trivial parity-odd sector of the integrand of the six-point one-loop NMHV amplitude, as obtained from the …
We calculate two different types of 3-point correlators involving twist-2 operators in the leading weak coupling approximation and all orders in N_c in N=4 SYM theory. Each of three operators in the first correlator can be any component of twist-2 supermultiplet, though the explicit calculation was done for a particular component which is an SU(4) singlet. It is calculated in the leading, Born approximation for arbitrary spins j_1,j_2,j_3. The result significantly simplifies when at least one of the spins is large or equal to zero and the coordinates are restricted to the 2d plane spanned by t…
We analytically study the Fermi-gas formulation of sphere correlation functions of the Coulomb branch operators for 3d $\mathcal{N}=4$ ADHM theory with a gauge group $U(N)$, an adjoint hypermultiplet and $l$ hypermultiplets which can describe a stack of $N$ M2-branes at $A_{l-1}$ singularities. We find that the leading coefficients of the perturbative grand canonical correlation functions are invariant under a hidden triality symmetry conjectured from the twisted M-theory. The triality symmetry also helps us to fix the next-to-leading corrections analytically.
A class of correlation functions of half-BPS composite operators are computed exactly (at finite $N$) in the zero coupling limit of N=4 SYM theory. These have a simple dependence on the four-dimensional spacetime coordinates and are related to correlators in a one-dimensional Matrix Model with complex Matrices obtained by dimensional reduction of N=4 SYM on a three-sphere. A key technical tool is Frobenius-Schur duality between symmetric and Unitary groups and the results are expressed simply in terms of U(N) group integrals or equivalently in terms of Littlewood-Richardson coefficients. These…
We compute analytically the two-loop contribution to the correlation function of the Lagrangian with a four-sided light-like (or null) Wilson loop in N=4 super Yang-Mills. As a non-trivial test of our result, we reproduce the three-loop value of the cusp anomalous dimension upon integration over the insertion point of the Lagrangian. The method we used involved calculating a dual scattering amplitude. Moreover, we give a simple representation of the loop integrand of the latter in twistor variables.
We present exact expressions for certain integrated correlators of four superconformal primary operators in the stress tensor multiplet of $\mathcal{N}=4$ supersymmetric Yang--Mills (SYM) theory with classical gauge group, $G_N$ $= SO(2N)$, $SO(2N+1)$, $USp(2N)$. These integrated correlators are expressed as two-dimensional lattice sums by considering derivatives of the localised partition functions, generalising the expression obtained for $SU(N)$ in our previous works. These expressions are manifestly covariant under Goddard-Nuyts-Olive duality. The integrated correlators can also be formall…
Recently Dorigoni, Green and Wen conjectured a remarkable exact formula for an integrated correlator of four superconformal primary operators in $\mathcal{N}=4$ supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory. In this work, we investigate its large $N$ limit in detail. We show that the formula of Dorigoni, Green and Wen can be recast into the sum over the contributions of $(p,q)$-strings. Due to the $SL(2,\mathbb{Z})$ duality, all the contributions are governed by a single function, typically appearing as the fundamental string contribution. The large order behavior for the perturbative genus expansion of th…
We explicitly compute the complete three-loop (O(g^4)) contribution to the four-point function of chiral primary current-like operators <(q)^2 q^2 (q)^2 q^2> in any finite N=2 SYM theory. The computation uses N=2 harmonic supergraphs in coordinate space. Dramatic simplifications are achieved by a double insertion of the N=2 SYM linearized action, and application of superconformal covariance arguments to the resulting nilpotent six-point amplitude. The result involves polylogarithms up to fourth order of the conformal cross ratios. It becomes particularly simple in the N=4 special case.
We present a compact formula in Mellin space for the four-point tree-level holographic correlators of chiral primary operators of arbitrary conformal weights in $(2,0)$ supergravity on $AdS_3 \times S^3$, with two operators in tensor multiplet and the other two in gravity multiplet. This is achieved by solving the recursion relation arising from a hidden six-dimensional conformal symmetry. We note the compact expression is obtained after carefully analysing the analytic structures of the correlators. Various limits of the correlators are studied, including the maximally R-symmetry violating li…
