We completely describe the decompositions (into indecomposable submodules) of the tensor products of irreducible sl(2)-modules in characteristic 3. The answer resembles analogous decompositions for the Lie superalgebra sl(1|1).
In this paper we completely characterise irreducible tensor products of representations of alternating groups in characteristic 2 of a basic spin module with an irreducible module. This completes the classification of irreducible tensor products of representations of alternating groups.
In this paper we study irreducible tensor products of representations of alternating groups in characteristics 2 and 3. In characteristic 3 we completely classify irreducible tensor products, while in characteristic 2 we completely classify irreducible tensor products where none of the modules appearing in the product is a basic spin module. In characteristic 2 we also give some necessary conditions for the tensor product of an irreducible module with a basic spin module to be irreducible.
We consider non-trivial irreducible tensor products of modular representations of a symmetric group $S_n$ in characteristic 2 for even $n$ completing the proof of a classification conjecture of Gow and Kleshchev about such products.
For semisimple Lie superalgebras over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero, whose category of finite dimensional super representations is semisismple, we classify all irreducible super representations for which the alternating or symmetric square representation is irreducible or decomposes into an irreducible representation and a trivial representation.
In this paper, we obtain a class of Virasoro modules by taking tensor products of the irreducible Virasoro modules $Ω(λ,α,h)$ defined in \cite{CG}, with irreducible highest weight modules $V(θ,h)$ or with irreducible Virasoro modules Ind$_θ(N)$ defined in \cite{MZ2}. We obtain the necessary and sufficient conditions for such tensor product modules to be irreducible, and determine the necessary and sufficient conditions for two of them to be isomorphic. These modules are not isomorphic to any other known irreducible Virasoro modules.
We consider integrable category $\mathcal{O}$ representations of Borcherds--Kac--Moody algebras whose Cartan matrix is finite dimensional, and determine the necessary and sufficient conditions for which the tensor product of irreducible representations from this category is isomorphic to another. This result generalizes a fundamental result of C. S. Rajan on unique factorization of tensor products of finite dimensional irreducible representations of finite dimensional simple Lie algebras over complex numbers.
In this paper, we obtain a class of Virasoro modules by taking tensor products of the irreducible Virasoro modules $Ω(λ,α,h)$ and $Ω(μ, b)$ with irreducible highest weight modules $V(θ,h)$ or with irreducible Virasoro modules Ind$_θ(N)$ defined in [MZ2]. We obtain the necessary and sufficient conditions for such tensor product modules to be irreducible, and determine the necessary and sufficient conditions for two of them to be isomorphic. We also compare these modules with other known non-weight Virasoro modules.
In this paper we consider symmetric powers representation and exterior powers representation of finite groups, which generated by the representation which has finite dimension over the complex field. We calculate the multiplicity of irreducible component of two representations of some representation by using a character theory of representation and a pre-lambda-ring, for example, the regular representation.
Let $G$ be a simple algebraic group in defining characteristic $p>0$, and let $V$ be an irreducible $G$-module which is the tensor product of exactly two non-trivial modules. We obtain a criterion for $V$ to have the zero weight. In addition, we provide a uniform criterion for an irreducible representation of a simple Lie algebra over the complex numbers to have a multiple of a prescribed fundamental weight.
In this paper, we study irreducible weight modules with infinite dimensional weight spaces over the mirror-twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro algebra $\mathcal{D}$. More precisely, the necessary and sufficient conditions for the tensor products of irreducible highest weight modules and irreducible modules of intermediates series over $\mathcal{D}$ to be irreducible are determined by using "shifting technique". This leads to a family of new irreducible weight modules over $\mathcal{D}$. Then we obtain that any two such tensor products are isomorphic if and only if the corresponding highest weight modu…
In this paper, we realize polynomial $\H$-modules $Ω(λ,α,β)$ from irreducible twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro modules $\A_{α,β}$. It follows from $\H$-modules $Ω(λ,α,β)$ and $\mathrm{Ind}(M)$ that we obtain a class of natural non-weight tensor product modules $\big(\bigotimes_{i=1}^mΩ(λ_i,α_i,β_i)\big)\otimes \mathrm{Ind}(M)$. Then we give the necessary and sufficient conditions under which these modules are irreducible and isomorphic, and also give that the irreducible modules in this class are new.
In this paper, we construct a class of non-weight modules over the affine-Virasoro algebra of type $A_1$ by taking tensor products of irreducibles defined in [Q. Chen, J. Han, Non-weight modules over the affine-Virasoro algebra of type $A_1$, J. Math. Phys. 60, 071707 (2019)] with irreducible highest weight modules. The irreducibility and the isomorphism classes of these modules are determined. Moreover, we show that these tensor product modules are different from the known non-weight modules. Finally, we realize some tensor product modules as induced modules from modules over certain subalgeb…
There exist principal $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ subalgebras for hyperbolic Kac-Moody Lie algebras. In the case of rank 2 symmetric hyperbolic Kac-Moody Lie algebras, certain $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ subalgebras are constructed. These subalgebras are generalizations of principal $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ subalgebras. We show that the rank 2 symmetric hyperbolic Kac-Moody Lie algebras themselves are irreducibly decomposed under the action of this $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ subalgebras. Furthermore, we classify irreducible components of the decomposition. In particular, we obtain multiplicities of unitary principal series and c…
The aim of this note is to point out a convexity property with respect to the root lattice for the support of the highest weights that occur in a tensor product of irreducible rational representations of $SL(n)$ over the complex numbers. The observation is a consequence of the convexity properties of the saturation cone and the validity of the saturation conjecture for $SL(n)$.
We give the decomposition into irreducible factors of Weil representations of the symplectic groups at even levels, generalizing previous decompositions at odd levels. We then derive the decomposition of the quantum representations of SL2(Z) arising in the SU(2) and SO(3) TQFTs. As application we show that, when the level indexing the TQFT is not a multiple of 4, the universal construction applied to a cobordism category without framed links leads to the same TQFT.
From an irreducible representation of GL(n, C) there is a natural way to construct an irreducible representations of GL(n + 1, C) by adding a zero at the end of the highest weight of the irreducible representation of GL(n, C). The paper considers the decomposition of tensor products of irreducible representation of GL(n, C) and of the corresponding irreducible representations of GL(n + 1, C) and proves a stability result about such tensor products. We go on to discuss similar questions for classical groups.
In this paper, we present a class of non-weight Virasoro modules $\mathcal{M}\big(V,Ω(λ_0,α_0)\big)\otimes\bigotimes_{i=1}^mΩ(λ_i,α_i)$ where $Ω(λ_i,α_i)$ and $\mathcal{M}\big(V,Ω(λ_0,α_0)\big)$ are irreducible Virasoro modules defined in \cite{LZ2} and \cite{LZ} respectively. The necessary and sufficient conditions for $\mathcal{M}\big(V,Ω(λ_0,α_0)\big)\otimes\bigotimes_{i=1}^mΩ(λ_i,α_i)$ to be irreducible are obtained. Then we determine the necessary and sufficient conditions for two such irreducible Virasoro modules to be isomorphic. At last, we show that the irreducible modules in this cla…
Building on prior work, we analyze the decomposition of the restriction of an irreducible representation of SL_2(k), for k a p-adic field of odd residual characteristic, to a maximal compact subgroup K. The pattern of the decomposition varies between principal series and different supercuspidal representations, whereas the K-representations which occur in the "tail end" of these decompositions are precisely those occurring in the decomposition of depth-zero supercuspidal representations. Various applications are considered.
We show that every admissible irreducible representation of a product of two locally compact groups is a tensor product of admissible irreducible representations of the factors.
We study the structure of the indecomposable direct summands of tensor products of two restricted simple $SL_3(K)$-modules, where $K$ is an algebraically closed field of characteristic $p \geq 5$. We give a characteristic-free algorithm for the computation of the decomposition of such a tensor product into indecomposable modules. The $p<5$ case for $\SL_3(K)$ was studied in the authors' earlier paper. In this paper we show that for characteristics $p\geq 5$ all the indecomposable summands are rigid, in contrast to the situation in characteristic 3.
This paper contains the decomposition matrices for blocks of defect at most $2$ in Category $\mathcal{O}_c(W)$ of the rational Cherednik algebra when $W=E_8$ or $F_4$ with equal parameters $c=1/d$, $d>2$ a regular number of $W$. A corollary of the result is a classification of the dimensions of support of the irreducible modules $L(τ)$ in $\mathcal{O}_{1/d}(W)$ except in the following cases: $W=E_8$, $d=4$ or $6$ and $L(τ)$ is in the principal block, or $d=2$ or $3$; $W=F_4$, $d=2$. In particular, this classifies the finite-dimensional modules of $H_c(E_8)$ when $d\neq 2,3,4,6$.
We prove for an arbitrary complex $^*$-algebra $A$ that every topologically irreducible $^*$-representation of $A$ on a Hilbert space is finite dimensional precisely when the Lebesgue decomposition of representable positive functionals over $A$ is unique. In particular, the uniqueness of the Lebesgue decomposition of positive functionals over the $L^1$-algebras of locally compact groups provides a new characterization of Moore groups.
We show that a tensor product of irreducible, finite dimensional representations of a simple Lie algebra over a field of characteristic zero, determines the individual constituents uniquely. This is analogous to the uniqueness of prime factorisation of natural numbers.
In a categorification of tensor products of fundamental representations of quantum sl(k) via highest weight categories, the indecomposable tilting modules descend to the canonical basis. Since projective functors map tilting modules to tilting modules, the coefficients of the canonical basis of tensor products of finite dimensional, irreducible representations under the action of the Chevalley generators are positive.
We use tilting modules to study the structure of the tensor product of two simple modules for the algebraic group $\SL_2$, in positive characteristic, obtaining a twisted tensor product theorem for its indecomposable direct summands. Various other related results are obtained, and numerous examples are computed.
Toroidal Lie algebras are universal central extentions of the finite dimensional simple Lie algbera tensored with Laurent Polynomials in several commuteing variables. In this paper we classify irreducible integrable modules for Toroidal Lie algebras with finite dimensional wieght spaces. They are tensor product of evaluation modules for the finite dimensional Lie algebra when the center acts by zero. In the case when the center acts nontrivially they are tensor product of evalution representations of the underlying affine Lie algebra twisted by an automorphism of the Toroidal Lie algebras. The…
Tensor product of highest weight modules and intermediate modules for Virasoro algebra have been studied around 1997. Since then the irreducibility problem for tensor product of modules is open. We consider the loop-Virasoro algebra $Vir \otimes B$, where $Vir$ is the Virasoro algebra and $B$ a commutative associative unital algebra over $\mathbb C$. In this paper we study the irreducibility problem for the tensor product of highest weight modules and intermediate modules for $Vir\otimes B$. Finally we find out a necessary and sufficient conditions for such modules to be isomorphic.
In this paper, we construct a class of non-weight modules over the affine-Virasoro algebra of type $A_1$ by taking tensor products of a finite number of irreducible modules $M(λ, α, β, γ)$ with irreducible highest weight modules $V(η, ε, θ)$. We obtain the necessary and sufficient conditions for such tensor product modules to be irreducible, and determine the necessary and sufficient conditions for such two modules to be isomorphic. We also compare these modules with other known non-weight modules, showing that these irreducible modules are new.
In this paper we study irreducible modules for loop of $A\rtimes DerA$ with finite dimensional weight spaces. In particular, we show that Larsson's constructed modules of tensor fields exhausted all irreducible modules.
In this paper, we obtain a class of irreducible Virasoro modules by taking tensor products of the irreducible Virasoro modules $Ω(λ,b)$ defined in [LZ], with irreducible highest weight modules $V(θ,h)$ or with irreducible Virasoro modules Ind$_θ(N)$ defined in [MZ2]. We determine the necessary and sufficient conditions for two such irreducible tensor products to be isomorphic. Then we prove that the tensor product of $Ω(λ,b)$ with a classical Whittaker module is isomorphic to the module $\mathrm{Ind}_{θ,λ}(\mathbb{C_\mathbf{m}})$ defined in [MW]. As a by-product we obtain the necessary and suf…
In this paper, using computations done through the LiE software, we compare the tensor product of irreducible selfdual representations of the special linear group with those of classical groups to formulate some conjectures relating the two. In the process a few other phenomenon present themselves which we record as questions. More precisely, under the natural correspondence of irreducible finite dimensional selfdual representations of ${\rm SL}_{2n}({\mathbb C})$ with those of ${\rm Spin}_{2n+1}({\mathbb C})$, it is easy to see that if the tensor product of three irreducible representations o…
We describe the tensor products of two irreducible linear complex representations of the finite general linear group G = GL(3,q) in terms of induced representations by linear characters of maximal torii and also in terms of Gelfand-Graev representations. Our results include MacDonald's conjectures for G and at the same time they are extensions to G of finite counterparts to classical results on tensor products of holomorphic and anti-holomorphic representations of the group SL(2, R). Moreover they provide an easy way to decompose these tensor products, with the help of Frobenius reciprocity. W…
Let (G,V) be a regular prehomogeneous vector space (abbreviated to PV), where G is a connected reductive algebraic group over C. If $V= \oplus_{i=0}^{n}V_{i}$ is a decomposition of V into irreducible representations, then, in general, the PV's $(G,V_{i})$ are no longer regular. In this paper we introduce the notion of quasi-irreducible PV (abbreviated to Q-irreducible), and show first that for completely Q-reducible PV's, the Q-isotopic components are intrinsically defined, as in ordinary representation theory. We also show that, in an appropriate sense, any regular PV is a direct sum of quasi…
An algorithm for irreducible decomposition of representations of finite groups over fields of characteristic zero is described. The algorithm uses the fact that the decomposition induces a partition of the invariant inner product into a complete set of mutually orthogonal projectors. By expressing the projectors through the basis elements of the centralizer ring of the representation, the problem is reduced to solving systems of quadratic equations. The current implementation of the algorithm is able to split representations of dimensions up to hundreds of thousands. Examples of calculations a…
We study when a tensor product of irreducible representations of the symmetric group $S_n$ contains all irreducibles as subrepresentations; we say such a tensor product covers $\mathsf{Irrep}(S_n)$. Our results show that this behavior is typical. We first give a general sufficient criterion for tensor products to have this property, which holds asymptotically almost surely for constant-sized collections of (Plancherel or uniformly) random irreducibles. We also consider the minimal tensor power of a single fixed irreducible representation needed to cover $\mathsf{Irrep}(S_n)$. Here a simple low…
The purpose of this paper is to study categorifications of tensor products of finite dimensional modules for the quantum group for sl(2). The main categorification is obtained using certain Harish-Chandra bimodules for the complex Lie algebra gl(n). For the special case of simple modules we naturally deduce a categorification via modules over the cohomology ring of certain flag varieties. Further geometric categorifications and the relation to Steinberg varieties are discussed. We also give a categorical version of the quantised Schur-Weyl duality and an interpretation of the (dual) canonical …
It is well known that using the weight lattice of type $E_6$, $P$, and the lattice construction for vertex operator algebras one can obtain all three level 1 irreducible $\tilde{g}$-modules with $V_P = V^{\Lamba_0} \oplus V^{\Lamba_1} \oplus V^{\Lamba_6}$. The Dynkin diagram of type $E_6$ has an order 2 automorphism, $τ$, which can be lifted to $\tilde{τ}$, a Lie algebra automorphism of $\tilde{g}$ of type $E_6^(1)$. The fixed points of $\tilde{τ}$ are a subalgebra $\tilde{a}$ of type $F_4^(1)$. The automorphism $τ$ lifts further to $\hat{τ}$ a vertex operator algebra automorphism of $V_P$. We…
In this paper we study the asymptotic of multiplicities of irreducible representations in large tensor products of finite dimensional representations of simple Lie algebras and their statistics with respect to Plancherel and character probability measures. We derive the asymptotic distribution of irreducible components for the Plancherel measure, generalizing results of Biane and Tate and Zelditch. We also derive the asymptotic of the character measure for generic parameters and an intermediate scaling in the vicinity of the Plancherel measure. It is interesting that the asymptotic measure is …
Let $\mathcal{R}$ be the Grothendieck ring of complex smooth finite-length representations of the sequence of p-adic groups $\{GL_n(F)\}_{n=0}^\infty$, with multiplication defined through parabolic induction. We study the problem of the decomposition of products of irreducible representations in $\mathcal{R}$. We obtain a necessary condition on irreducible factors of a given product by introducing a width invariant. Width $1$ representations form the previously studied class of ladder representations. We later focus on the case of a product of two ladder representations, for which we establish…
Character measure is a probability measure on irreducible representations of a semisimple Lie algebra. It appears from the decomposition into irreducibles of tensor power of a fundamental representation. In this paper we calculate the asymptotics of character measure on representations of so(2n+1) in the regime near the boundary of weight diagram. We find out that it converges to a Poisson-type distribution.
We give an algorithm for working out the indecomposable direct summands in a Krull--Schmidt decomposition of a tensor product of two simple modules for G=SL_3 in characteristics 2 and 3. It is shown that there is a finite family of modules such that every such indecomposable summand is expressible as a twisted tensor product of members of that family. Along the way we obtain the submodule structure of various Weyl and tilting modules. Some of the tilting modules that turn up in characteristic 3 are not rigid; these seem to provide the first example of non-rigid tilting modules for algebraic gr…
The partition algebra $\mathsf{P}_k(n)$ and the symmetric group $\mathsf{S}_n$ are in Schur-Weyl duality on the $k$-fold tensor power $\mathsf{M}_n^{\otimes k}$ of the permutation module $\mathsf{M}_n$ of $\mathsf{S}_n$, so there is a surjection $\mathsf{P}_k(n) \to \mathsf{Z}_k(n) := \mathsf{End}_{\mathsf{S}_n}(\mathsf{M}_n^{\otimes k}),$ which is an isomorphism when $n \ge 2k$. We prove a dimension formula for the irreducible modules of the centralizer algebra $\mathsf{Z}_k(n)$ in terms of Stirling numbers of the second kind. Via Schur-Weyl duality, these dimensions equal the multiplicities …
We construct an endoscopic decomposition for local L-packets associated to irreducible cuspidal Deligne-Lusztig representations. Moreover, the obtained decomposition is compatible with inner twistings.
We study the tensor product $W$ of any number of "elementary" irreducible modules $V_1,...,V_k$ over the Yangian of the general linear Lie algebra. Each of these modules is determined by a skew Young diagram and a complex parameter. For any indices $i,j=1,...,k$ there is a canonical non-zero intertwining operator $A_{ij}$ between the tensor products $V_i\otimes V_j$ and $V_j\otimes V_i$. This operator is defined up to a scalar multipler. We show that the tensor product $W$ is irreducible, if and only if all operators $A_{ij}$ with $i<j$ are invertible. This implies that the Yangian module $W$ …
We give a simple characterization of the highest weight vertices in the crystal graph of the level l Fock spaces. This characterization is based on the notion of totally periodic symbols viewed as affine analogues of reverse lattice words classically used in the decomposition of tensor products of fundamental $\mathfrak{sl}_{n}$-modules. This yields a combinatorial decomposition of the Fock spaces in their irreducible components and the branching law for the restriction of the irreducible highest weight $\mathfrak{sl}_{\infty}$-modules to $\hat{\mathfrak{sl}_{e}}$.
There is a decomposition of a Lie algebra for open matrix chains akin to the triangular decomposition. We use this decomposition to construct unitary irreducible representations. All multiple meson states can be retrieved this way. Moreover, they are the only states with a finite number of non-zero quantum numbers with respect to a certain set of maximally commuting linearly independent quantum observables. Any other state is a tensor product of a multiple meson state and a state coming from a representation of a quotient algebra that extends and generalizes the Virasoro algebra. We expect the…
