The purpose of this paper is to study categorifications of tensor products of finite dimensional modules for the quantum group for sl(2). The main categorification is obtained using certain Harish-Chandra bimodules for the complex Lie algebra gl(n). For the special case of simple modules we naturally deduce a categorification via modules over the cohomology ring of certain flag varieties. Further geometric categorifications and the relation to Steinberg varieties are discussed. We also give a categorical version of the quantised Schur-Weyl duality and an interpretation of the (dual) canonical bases and the (dual) standard bases in terms of projective, tilting, standard and simple Harish-Chandra bimodules.
We give a purely geometric categorification of tensor products of finite-dimensional simple $U_q(sl_2)$-modules and $R$-matrices on them. The work is developed in the framework of category of perverse sheaves and the categorification theorems are understood as consequences of Deligne's theory of weights.
We construct categorifications of tensor products of arbitrary finite-dimensional irreducible representations of $\mathfrak{sl}_k$ with subquotient categories of the BGG category $\mathcal{O}$, generalizing previous work of Sussan and Mazorchuk-Stroppel. Using Lie theoretical methods, we prove in detail that they are tensor product categorifications according to the recent definition of Losev and Webster. As an application we deduce an equivalence of categories between certain versions of category $\mathcal{O}$ and Webster's tensor product categories. Finally we indicate how the categorificati…
This is the first part of a series of two papers aiming to construct a categorification of the braiding on tensor products of Verma modules, and in particular of the Lawrence--Krammer--Bigelow representations. \\ In this part, we categorify all tensor products of Verma modules and integrable modules for quantum $\mathfrak{sl_2}$. The categorification is given by derived categories of dg versions of KLRW algebras which generalize both the tensor product algebras of Webster, and the dg-algebras used by Lacabanne, the second author and Vaz. We compute a basis for these dgKLRW algebras by using re…
We study certain monoidal subcategories (introduced by David Hernandez and Bernard Leclerc) of finite--dimensional representations of a quantum affine algebra of type $A$. We classify the set of prime representations in these subcategories and give necessary and sufficient conditions for a tensor product of two prime representations to be irreducible. In the case of a reducible tensor product we describe the prime decomposition of the simple factors. As a consequence we prove that these subcategories are monoidal categorifications of a cluster algebra of type $A$ with coefficients.
We consider the monoidal subcategory of finite dimensional representations of $U_q(\mathfrak{gl}(1|1))$ generated by the vector representation, and we provide a diagram calculus for the intertwining operators, which allows to compute explicitly the canonical basis. We construct then a categorification of these representations and of the action of both $U_q(\mathfrak{gl}(1|1))$ and the intertwining operators using subquotient categories of the BGG category $\mathcal{O}(\mathfrak{gl}_n)$.
In this paper, we prove Khovanov-Lauda's cyclotomic categorification conjecture for all symmetrizable Kac-Moody algebras. Let $U_q(g)$ be the quantum group associated with a symmetrizable Cartan datum and let $V(Λ)$ be the irreducible highest weight $U_q(g)$-module with a dominant integral highest weight $Λ$. We prove that the cyclotomic Khovanov-Lauda-Rouquier algebra $R^Λ$ gives a categorification of $V(Λ)$.
We give a new proof of the "super Kazhdan-Lusztig conjecture" for the Lie super algebra $\mathfrak{gl}_{n|m}(\mathbb{C})$ as formulated originally by the first author. We also prove for the first time that any integral block of category O for $\mathfrak{gl}_{n|m}(\mathbb{C})$ (and also all of its parabolic analogs) possesses a graded version which is Koszul. Our approach depends crucially on an application of the uniqueness of tensor product categorifications established recently by the second two authors.
We construct 2-functors from a 2-category categorifying quantum sl(n) to 2-categories categorifying the irreducible representation of highest weight $ 2 ω_k. $
In a categorification of tensor products of fundamental representations of quantum sl(k) via highest weight categories, the indecomposable tilting modules descend to the canonical basis. Since projective functors map tilting modules to tilting modules, the coefficients of the canonical basis of tensor products of finite dimensional, irreducible representations under the action of the Chevalley generators are positive.
This article investigates duals for bimodule categories over finite tensor categories. We show that finite bimodule categories form a tricategory and discuss the dualities in this tricategory using inner homs. We consider inner-product bimodule categories over pivotal tensor categories with additional structure on the inner homs. Inner-product module categories are related to Frobenius algebras and lead to the notion of $*$-Morita equivalence for pivotal tensor categories. We show that inner-product bimodule categories form a tricategory with two duality operations and an additional pivotal st…
The colored Jones polynomial of links has two natural normalizations: one in which the n-colored unknot evaluates to [n+1], the quantum dimension of the (n+1)-dimensional irreducible representation of quantum sl(2), and the other in which it evaluates to 1. For each normalization we construct a bigraded cohomology theory of links with the colored Jones polynomial as the Euler characteristic.
We identify the Grothendieck group of certain direct sum of singular blocks of the highest weight category for sl(n) with the n-th tensor power of the fundamental (two-dimensional) sl(2)-module. The action of U(sl(2)) is given by projective functors and the commuting action of the Temperley-Lieb algebra by Zuckerman functors. Indecomposable projective functors correspond to Lusztig canonical basis in U(sl(2)). In the dual realization the n-th tensor power of the fundamental representation is identified with a direct sum of parabolic blocks of the highest weight category. Translation across the…
In this paper, we study 2-representations of 2-quantum groups (in the sense of Rouquier and Khovanov-Lauda) categorifying tensor products of irreducible representations. Our aim is to construct knot homologies categorifying Reshetikhin-Turaev invariants of knots for arbitrary representations, which will be done in a follow-up paper. We consider an algebraic construction of these categories, via an explicit diagrammatic presentation, generalizing the cyclotomic quotient of the quiver Hecke algebra. One of our primary results is that these categories coincide when both are defined. We also inves…
In this note, we introduce monoidal subcategories of the tensor category of finite-dimensional representations of a simply-laced quantum affine algebra, parametrized by arbitrary Dynkin quivers. For linearly oriented quivers of types A and D, we show that these categories provide monoidal categorifications of cluster algebras of the same type. The proof is purely representation-theoretical, in the spirit of [arXiv:0903.1452].
A modular tensor category provides the appropriate data for the construction of a three-dimensional topological field theory. We describe the following analogue for two-dimensional conformal field theories: a 2-category whose objects are symmetric special Frobenius algebras in a modular tensor category and whose morphisms are categories of bimodules. This 2-category provides sufficient ingredients for constructing all correlation functions of a two-dimensional rational conformal field theory. The bimodules have the physical interpretation of chiral data, boundary conditions, and topological de…
We construct tensor and bitensor categories with given Grothedieck rig (fusion algebra) in simple cases. The results provide examples on which to test the conjectural construction of 4-D TQFT's proposed by Crane and Frenkel and shed light on several other constructions of TQFT's.
Bernstein, Frenkel, and Khovanov have constructed a categorification of tensor products of the standard representation of $\mathfrak{sl}_2$, where they use singular blocks of category $\mathcal{O}$ for $\mathfrak{sl}_n$ and translation functors. Here we construct a positive characteristic analogue using blocks of representations of $\mathfrak{sl}_n$ over a field $\textbf{k}$ of characteristic $p$ with zero Frobenius character, and singular Harish-Chandra character. We show that the aforementioned categorification admits a Koszul graded lift, which is equivalent to a geometric categorification …
We categorify Lusztig's version of the quantized enveloping algebra for sl(2). Using a graphical calculus a 2-category is constructed whose split Grothendieck ring is isomorphic to Lusztig's algebra. The indecomposable morphisms of this 2-category lift Lusztig's canonical basis, and the Homs between 1-morphisms are graded lifts of a semilinear form defined on quantum sl(2). Graded lifts of various homomorphisms and antihomomorphisms of Lusztig's algebra arise naturally in the context of our graphical calculus. Using iterated flag varieties, a representation of the 2-category is constructed for…
We define the Hopf superalgebra U_T sl(1,1), which is a variant of the quantum supergroup U_q sl(1,1), and its tensor product representations V_1^{\otimes n} for n>0. We construct families of DG algebras A, B and R_n, and consider the DG categories DGP(A), DGP(B) and DGP(R_n), which are full DG subcategories of the categories of DG A-, B- and R_n-modules generated by certain distinguished projective modules. Their 0th homology categories HP(A), HP(B), and HP(R_n) are triangulated and give algebraic formulations of the contact categories of an annulus, a twice punctured disk, and an n times pun…
We generalize our previous work on categorification of Kauffman bracket skein module of surfaces, by extending our homology to tangles in cylinders over surfaces, F x [0,1]. Our homology of 0-tangles and 1-tangles in D^3 coincides (up to normalization) with Khovanov link homology and the reduced Khovanov link homology. We prove the basic properties of our homology. In particular, the short exact sequence of homologies of skein related tangles and the Kunneth formula for the tensor product of tangles.
We construct knot invariants categorifying the quantum knot variants for all representations of quantum groups. We show that these invariants coincide with previous invariants defined by Khovanov for sl(2) and sl(3) and by Mazorchuk-Stroppel and Sussan for sl(n). Our technique uses categorifications of the tensor product representations of Kac-Moody algebras and quantum groups, constructed a prequel to this paper. These categories are based on the pictorial approach of Khovanov and Lauda. In this paper, we show that these categories are related by functors corresponding to the braiding and (co…
For every oriented surface of finite type, we construct a functorial Khovanov homology for links in a thickening of the surface, which takes values in a categorification of the corresponding gl(2) skein module. The latter is a mild refinement of the Kauffman bracket skein algebra, and its categorification is constructed using a category of gl(2) foams that admits an interesting non-negative grading. We expect that the natural algebra structure on the gl(2) skein module can be categorified by a tensor product that makes the surface link homology functor monoidal. We construct a candidate bifunc…
Using quantum skew-Howe duality, we study the category $\operatorname{Rep}(\mathfrak{gl}(m|n))$ of tensor products of exterior powers of the standard representation of $U_q(\mathfrak{gl}(m|n))$, and prove that it is equivalent to a category of ladder diagrams modulo one extra family of relations. We then construct a categorification of $\operatorname{Rep}(\mathfrak{gl}(m|n))$ using the theory of foams. In the case of $n=0$, we show that we can recover $\mathfrak{sl}(m)$ foams introduced by Queffelec and Rose to define Khovanov-Rozansky $\mathfrak{sl}(m)$ link homology. We also define a categor…
A cuspidal system for an affine Khovanov-Lauda-Rouquier algerba $R_\al$ yields a theory of standard modules. This allows us to classify the irreducible modules over $R_\al$ up to the so-called imaginary modules. We make a conjecture on reductions modulo $p$ of irreducible $R_\al$-modules, which generalizes James Conjecture. We also describe minuscule imaginary modules, laying the groundwork for future study of imaginary Schur-Weyl duality. We introduce colored imaginary tensor spaces and reduce a classification of imaginary modules to one color. We study the characters of cuspidal modules. We …
We show that in ADE type the trace of Webster's categorification of a tensor product of irreducibles for the quantum group is isomorphic to a tensor product of Weyl modules for the current algebra $\dot{U}(\mathfrak{g}[t])$. This extends a result of Beliakova, Habiro, Lauda, and Webster who showed that the trace of the categorified quantum group $\dot{\mathcal{U}}^*(\mathfrak{g})$ is isomorphic to $\dot{U}(\mathfrak{g}[t])$, and the trace of a cyclotomic quotient of $\dot{\mathcal{U}}^*(\mathfrak{g})$, which categorifies a single irreducible for the quantum group, is isomorphic to a Weyl modul…
We study the classical limit of a family of irreducible representations of the quantum affine algebra associated to $\mathfrak{sl}_{n+1}$. After a suitable twist, the limit is a module for $\mathfrak{sl}_{n+1}[t]$, i.e., for the maximal standard parabolic subalgebra of the affine Lie algebra. Our first result is about the family of prime representations introduced in the context of a monoidal categorification of cluster algebras. We show that these representations specialize (after twisting), to $\mathfrak{sl}_{n+1}[t]$--stable, prime Demazure modules in level two integrable highest weight rep…
In this thesis we define and study a categorification of the sl(N)-link polynomial using foams, for N\geq 3. For N=3 we define the universal sl(3)-link homology, using foams, which depends on three parameters and show that it is functorial, up to scalars, with respect to link cobordisms. Our theory is integral. We show that tensoring it with Q yields a theory which is equivalent to the rational universal Khovanov-Rozansky sl(3)-link homology. For N\geq 4 we construct a rational theory categorifying the sl(N)-link polynomial using foams. Our theory is functorial, up to scalars, with respect to …
This paper develops a general theory of canonical bases, and how they arise naturally in the context of categorification. As an application, we show that Lusztig's canonical basis in the whole quantized universal enveloping algebra is given by the classes of the indecomposable 1-morphisms in a categorification when the associated Lie algebra is finite type and simply laced. We also introduce natural categories whose Grothendieck groups correspond to the tensor products of lowest and highest weight integrable representations. This generalizes past work of the author's in the highest weight case…
We discuss a new perspective on Khovanov homology, using categorifications of tensor products. While in many ways more technically demanding than Khovanov's approach (and its extension by Bar-Natan), this has distinct advantage of directly connecting Khovanov homology to a categorification of \$(\mathbb{C}^2)^{\otimes \ell}\$, and admitting a direct generalization to other Lie algebras. While the construction discussed is a special case of that given in previous work of the author, this paper contains new results about the special case of \$\mathfrak{sl}_2\$ showing an explicit connection to B…
We want to construct a homological link invariant whose Euler characteristic is MOY polynomial as Khovanov and Rozansky constructed a categorification of HOMFLY polynomial. The present paper gives the first step to construct a categorification of MOY polynomial. For the essential colored planar diagrams with additional data which is a sequence naturally induced by coloring, we define matrix factorizations, and then we define a matrix factorization for planar diagram obtained by gluing the essential colored planar diagrams as tensor product of the matrix factorizations for the essential planar …
A geometric categorification is given for arbitrary-large-finite-dimensional quotients of quantum osp(1|2) and the tensor product of its simple modules. The modified quantum osp(1|2) of Clark-Wang, a new version in this paper and the modified quantum sl(2) are isomorphic to each other over a field containing Q(v) and a root of -1.
We categorify the R-matrix isomorphism between tensor products of minuscule representations of U_q(sl(n)) by constructing an equivalence between the derived categories of coherent sheaves on the corresponding convolution products in the affine Grassmannian. The main step in the construction is a categorification of representations of U_q(sl(2)) which are related to representations of U_q(sl(n)) by quantum skew Howe duality. The resulting equivalence is part of the program of algebro-geometric categorification of Reshitikhin-Turaev tangle invariants developed by the first two authors.
We prove that, for the quon algebra, which interpolates between the Bose and Fermi statistics and depends on a free parameter q,it is possible to build an su(2) irreducible representation. One of the consequences of this fact is that the quons couple via the same angular momentum coupling rules obeyed by ordinary bosons and fermions.
Given a fusion category $\mathcal{C}$ and an indecomposable $\mathcal{C}$-module category $\mathcal{M}$, the fusion category $\mathcal{C}^*_\mathcal{M}$ of $\mathcal{C}$-module endofunctors of $\mathcal{M}$ is called the (Morita) dual fusion category of $\mathcal{C}$ with respect to $\mathcal{M}$. We describe tensor functors between two arbitrary duals $\mathcal{C}^*_\mathcal{M}$ and $\mathcal{D}^*_\mathcal{N}$ in terms of data associated to $\mathcal{C}$ and $\mathcal{D}$. We apply the results to $G$-equivariantizations of fusion categories and group-theoretical fusion categories. We describe…
Defining conditions for irreducible tensor operators associated with the unitary irreducible corepresentations of compact quantum group algebras are deduced within the framework of the abstract carrier space formalism. It is shown that there are {\em{two}} types of irreducible tensor operator, which may be called `ordinary' and `twisted'. The consistency of the definitions is demonstrated, and various consequences are deduced, including generalizations of the Wigner-Eckart theorem for both the ordinary and twisted operators. Examples of irreducible tensor operators for the standard deformation…
In this paper we study the relative tensor product of module categories over braided fusion categories using, in part, the notion of the relative center of a module category. In particular we investigate the canonical tensor category structure and braiding inherited by the relative tensor product when module categories are themselves tensor/braided. As a basic example we show that the category of representations of the fibre product of finite groups may be expressed in terms of the relative product and show how to multiply braided fusion categories arising from pre-metric groups. Also, we cons…
Tensor products of irreducible representations of the Jordanian quantum algebras U_h(sl(2)) and U_h(su(1,1)) are considered. For both the highest weight finite dimensional representations of U_h(sl(2)) and lowest weight infinite dimensional ones of U_h(su(1,1)), it is shown that tensor product representations are reducible and that the decomposition rules to irreducible representations are exactly the same as those of corresponding Lie algebras.
The defining conditions for the irreducible tensor operators associated with the unitary irreducible corepresentions of compact quantum group algebras are deduced first in both the right and left regular coaction formalisms. In each case it is shown that there are {\em{two}} types of irreducible tensor operator, which may be called `ordinary' and `twisted'. The consistency of the definitions is demonstrated, and various consequences are deduced, including generalizations of the Wigner-Eckart theorem for both the ordinary and twisted operators. Also included are discussions (within the regular …
We study the tensor product $W$ of any number of "elementary" irreducible modules $V_1,...,V_k$ over the Yangian of the general linear Lie algebra. Each of these modules is determined by a skew Young diagram and a complex parameter. For any indices $i,j=1,...,k$ there is a canonical non-zero intertwining operator $A_{ij}$ between the tensor products $V_i\otimes V_j$ and $V_j\otimes V_i$. This operator is defined up to a scalar multipler. We show that the tensor product $W$ is irreducible, if and only if all operators $A_{ij}$ with $i<j$ are invertible. This implies that the Yangian module $W$ …
We consider the quantized Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov difference equation (qKZ) with values in a tensor product of irreducible sl(2) modules, the equation defined in terms of rational R-matrices. We solve the equation in terms of multidimensional q-hypergeometric integrals. We identify the space of solutions of the qKZ equation with the tensor product of the corresponding modules over the quantum group $U_qsl(2)$. We compute the monodromy of the qKZ equation in terms of the trigonometric R-matrices.
We study strongly graded vertex algebras and their strongly graded modules, which are conformal vertex algebras and their modules with a second, compatible grading by an abelian group satisfying certain grading restriction conditions. We consider a tensor product of strongly graded vertex algebras and its tensor product strongly graded modules. We prove that a tensor product of strongly graded irreducible modules for a tensor product of strongly graded vertex algebras is irreducible, and that such irreducible modules, up to equivalence, exhaust certain naturally defined strongly graded irreduc…
We construct N-complexes of non completely antisymmetric irreducible tensor fields on $\mathbb R^D$ generalizing thereby the usual complex (N=2) of differential forms. These complexes arise naturally in the description of higher spin gauge fields. Although, for $N\geq 3$, the generalized cohomology of these N-complexes is non trivial, we prove a generalization of the Poincaré lemma. Several results which appeared in various contexts are shown to be particular cases of this generalized Poincaré lemma.
The Iwahori-Hecke algebra of type A acts on tensor product space of the natural representation of the quantum superalgebra U_q(gl(m,n)). We show this action of the Hecke algebra and the action of U_q(gl(m,n)) on the same space determine commuting actions of each other. Together with this result and Gyoja's q-analogue of the Young symmetrizer, we construct a highest weight vector of each irreducible summmand of the tensor product space.
