In this paper, we prove Khovanov-Lauda's cyclotomic categorification conjecture for all symmetrizable Kac-Moody algebras. Let $U_q(g)$ be the quantum group associated with a symmetrizable Cartan datum and let $V(Λ)$ be the irreducible highest weight $U_q(g)$-module with a dominant integral highest weight $Λ$. We prove that the cyclotomic Khovanov-Lauda-Rouquier algebra $R^Λ$ gives a categorification of $V(Λ)$.
We classify simple representations of Khovanov-Lauda-Rouquier algebras in finite type. The classification is in terms of a standard family of representations that is shown to yield the dual PBW basis in the Grothendieck group. Finally, we prove a conjecture describing the global dimension of these algebras.
We develop the homological theory of KLR algebras of symmetric affine type. For each PBW basis, a family of standard modules is constructed which categorifies the PBW basis.
We prove that the Khovanov-Lauda-Rouquier algebras $R_\al$ of type $A_\infty$ are (graded) affine cellular in the sense of Koenig and Xi. In fact, we establish a stronger property, namely that the affine cell ideals in $R_\al$ are generated by idempotents. This in particular implies the (known) result that the global dimension of $R_\al$ is finite, and yields a theory of standard and reduced standard modules for $R_\al$.
A cuspidal system for an affine Khovanov-Lauda-Rouquier algerba $R_\al$ yields a theory of standard modules. This allows us to classify the irreducible modules over $R_\al$ up to the so-called imaginary modules. We make a conjecture on reductions modulo $p$ of irreducible $R_\al$-modules, which generalizes James Conjecture. We also describe minuscule imaginary modules, laying the groundwork for future study of imaginary Schur-Weyl duality. We introduce colored imaginary tensor spaces and reduce a classification of imaginary modules to one color. We study the characters of cuspidal modules. We …
Given a vector space with an action of a semi-simple Lie algebra, we can try to "categorify" this representation, which means finding a category where the generators of the Lie algebra act by functors. Such categorical representations arise naturally in geometric representation theory and in modular representation theory of symmetric groups. A framework for studying categorical representations was introduced by Rouquier and Khovanov-Lauda. Their definitions are algebraic/diagrammatic, but are connected to the topology of quiver varieties by the work of Rouquier and Varagnolo-Vasserot. In this …
Let us consider a finite set of pairs consisting of good $U'_q(g)$-modules and invertible elements. The distribution of poles of normalized R-matrices yields Khovanov-Lauda-Rouquier algebras We define a functor from the category of finite-dimensional modules over the KLR algebra to the category of finite-dimensional $U_q'(g)$-modules. We show that the functor sends convolution products to tensor products and is exact if the KLR albera is of type A, D, E.
We give an algebraic construction of standard modules (infinite dimensional modules categorifying the PBW basis of the underlying quantized enveloping algebra) for Khovanov-Lauda-Rouquier algebras in all finite types. This allows us to prove in an elementary way that these algebras satisfy the homological properties of an `affine quasi-hereditary algebra.' In simply-laced types these properties were established originally by Kato via a geometric approach. We also construct some Koszul-like projective resolutions of standard modules corresponding to multiplicity-free positive roots.
Kleshchev, Mathas and Ram (2012) gave a presentation for graded Specht modules over Khovanov-Lauda-Rouquier algebras of finite and affine type A. We show that this construction can be applied more generally to skew shapes to give a presentation of graded skew Specht modules, which arise as subquotients of restrictions of Specht modules. As an application, we show that cuspidal modules associated to a balanced convex preorder in affine type A are skew Specht modules for certain hook shapes.
We define Khovanov-Lauda-Rouquier subalgebras which are generalizations of redotted versions of Webster's tensor product algebras of type $A_1$. Quotient algebras of these subalgebras are isomorphic to Webster's tensor product algebras in general type.
We study a presentation of Khovanov - Lauda - Rouquier's candidate $2$-categorification of a quantum group using algebraic rewriting methods. We use a computational approach based on rewriting modulo the isotopy axioms of its pivotal structure to compute a family of linear bases for all the vector spaces of $2$-cells in this $2$-category. We show that these bases correspond to Khovanov and Lauda's conjectured generating sets, proving the non-degeneracy of their diagrammatic calculus. This implies that this $2$-category is a categorification of Lusztig's idempotent and integral quantum group $\…
We construct an explicit isomorphism between blocks of cyclotomic Hecke algebras and (sign-modified) Khovanov-Lauda algebras in type A. These isomorphisms connect the categorification conjecture of Khovanov and Lauda to Ariki's categorification theorem. The Khovanov-Lauda algebras are naturally graded, which allows us to exhibit a non-trivial Z-grading on blocks of cyclotomic Hecke algebras, including symmetric groups in positive characteristic.
We construct 2-functors from a 2-category categorifying quantum sl(n) to 2-categories categorifying the irreducible representation of highest weight $ 2 ω_k. $
In this paper I define certain interesting 2-functors from the Khovanov-Lauda 2-category which categorifies quantum sl(k), for any k>1, to a 2-category of universal sl(3) foams with corners. For want of a better name I use the term "foamation" to indicate those 2-functors. I conjecture the existence of similar 2-functors to the 2-category of sl(n) foams with corners, for any n>1.
Given a strong 2-representation of a Kac-Moody Lie algebra (in the sense of Rouquier) we show how to extend it to a 2-representation of categorified quantum groups (in the sense of Khovanov-Lauda). This involves checking certain extra 2-relations which are explicit in the definition by Khovanov-Lauda and, as it turns out, implicit in Rouquier's definition. Some applications are also discussed.
We define a quotient of the category of finitely generated modules over the cyclotomic Khovanov-Lauda-Rouquier algebra for type An and show it has a module category structure over a direct sum of certain cyclotomic Khovanov-Lauda-Rouquier algebras of type An-1, this way categorifying the branching rules for the inclusion of sl(n) in sl(n+1). Using this we give a new, elementary proof of Khovanov-Lauda cyclotomic conjecture. We show that continuing recursively gives the Gelfand-Tsetlin basis for type An. As an application we prove a conjecture of Mackaay, Stosic and Vaz concerning categorical W…
We give a construction of sl_2-categorifications (in the sense of Chuang-Rouquier) for representations of U_q(gl_n), for generic q and for q a root of unity.
We categorify the extended affine Hecke algebra and the affine quantum Schur algebra S(n,r) for 2 < r < n, using Elias-Khovanov and Khovanov-Lauda type diagrams. We also define the affine analogue of the Elias-Khovanov and the Khovanov-Lauda 2-representations of these categorifications into an extension of the 2-category of affine (singular) Soergel bimodules.
We introduce a new family of superalgebras which should be considered as a super version of the Khovanov-Lauda-Rouquier algebras. Let $I$ be the set of vertices of a Dynkin diagram with parity. To this data, we associate a family of graded superalgebras, the quiver Hecke superalgebras. When there are no odd vertices, these algebras are nothing but the usual Khovanov-Lauda-Rouquier algebras. We then define another family of graded superalgebras, the quiver Hecke-Clifford superalgebras, and show that they are weakly Morita superequivalent to the quiver Hecke superalgebras. Moreover, we prove tha…
We give a definition of monoidal categorifications of quantum cluster algebras and provide a criterion for a monoidal category of finite-dimensional graded $R$-modules to become a monoidal categorification of a quantum cluster algebra, where $R$ is a symmetric Khovanov-Lauda-Rouquier algebra. Roughly speaking, this criterion asserts that a quantum monoidal seed can be mutated successively in all the directions once the first-step mutations are possible. In the course of the study, we also give a proof of a conjecture of Leclerc on the product of upper global basis elements.
We extend the definition of the Saito reflection functor of the Khovanov- Lauda-Rouquier algebras to symmetric Kac-Moody algebra case and prove that it defines a monoidal functor.
This is a follow-up to the paper in which we categorified the affine quantum Schur algebra S(n,r) for 2 < r < n, using a quotient of Khovanov and Lauda's categorification of the affine quantum sl_n. In this paper we categorify S(n,n) for n > 2, using an extension of the aforementioned quotient.
We categorify a coideal subalgebra of the quantum group of $\mathfrak{sl}_{2r+1}$ by introducing a $2$-category à la Khovanov-Lauda-Rouquier, and show that self-dual indecomposable $1$-morphisms categorify the canonical basis of this algebra. This allows us to define a categorical action of this coideal algebra on the categories of modules over cohomology rings of partial flag varieties and on the BGG category $\mathcal{O}$ of type B/C.
This paper is the first step in the project of categorifying the bialgebra structure on the half of quantum group $U_{q}(\mathfrak{g})$ by using geometry and Hall algebras. We equip the category of D-modules on the moduli stack of objects of the category $Rep_{\mathbb{C}}(Q)$ of representations of a quiver with the structure of an algebra object in the category of stable $\infty$-categories. The data for this construction is provided by an extension of the Waldhausen construction for the category $Rep_{\mathbb{C}}(Q)$. We discuss the connection to the Khovanov-Lauda-Rouquier categorification o…
In this paper we use colored sl(N)-matrix factorizations, due to Wu and Y.Y., in order to categorify part of the quantum skew Howe duality defined by Cautis, Kamnitzer and Morrison. In particular, we define web categories and 2-representations of Khovanov and Lauda's categorical quantum sl(m) on them. We show that each such web category is equivalent to the category of finite dimensional graded projective modules over a certain level N cyclotomic Khovanov-Lauda-Rouquier algebra.
In this paper, we study 2-representations of 2-quantum groups (in the sense of Rouquier and Khovanov-Lauda) categorifying tensor products of irreducible representations. Our aim is to construct knot homologies categorifying Reshetikhin-Turaev invariants of knots for arbitrary representations, which will be done in a follow-up paper. We consider an algebraic construction of these categories, via an explicit diagrammatic presentation, generalizing the cyclotomic quotient of the quiver Hecke algebra. One of our primary results is that these categories coincide when both are defined. We also inves…
In this paper we categorify the q-Schur algebra S(n,d) as a quotient of Khovanov and Lauda's diagrammatic 2-category U(sln). We also show that our 2-category contains Soergel's monoidal category of bimodules of type A, which categorifies the Hecke algebra H(d), as a full sub-2-category if d does not exceed n. For the latter result we use Elias and Khovanov's diagrammatic presentation of Soergel's monoidal category of type A.
We construct knot invariants categorifying the quantum knot variants for all representations of quantum groups. We show that these invariants coincide with previous invariants defined by Khovanov for sl(2) and sl(3) and by Mazorchuk-Stroppel and Sussan for sl(n). Our technique uses categorifications of the tensor product representations of Kac-Moody algebras and quantum groups, constructed a prequel to this paper. These categories are based on the pictorial approach of Khovanov and Lauda. In this paper, we show that these categories are related by functors corresponding to the braiding and (co…
We study imaginary representations of the Khovanov-Lauda-Rouquier algebras of affine Lie type. Irreducible modules for such algebras arise as simple heads of standard modules. In order to define standard modules one needs to have a cuspidal system for a fixed convex preorder. A cuspidal system consists of irreducible cuspidal modules---one for each real positive root for the corresponding affine root system ${\tt X}_l^{(1)}$, as well as irreducible imaginary modules---one for each $l$-multipartition. We study imaginary modules by means of `imaginary Schur-Weyl duality'. We introduce an imagina…
These are notes prepared for ICRA workshop at Torun, Poland, August 2007. In the first part, we explain results on canonical basic sets by Geck and Jacon and propose a categorification framework which is suitable for our example of Hecke algebras. In the second part, we review basics of Kashiwara crystal and explain the Fock space theory of cyclotomic Hecke algebras and its applications. In the third part, we explain Rouquier's theory of quasihereditary covers of cyclotomic Hecke algebras. We add detailed explanation of the proofs here. The third part is based on my intensive course given at N…
We construct knot invariants categorifying the quantum knot variants for all representations of quantum groups. We show that these invariants coincide with previous invariants defined by Khovanov for sl_2 and sl_3 and by Mazorchuk-Stroppel and Sussan for sl_n. Our technique is to study 2-representations of 2-quantum groups (in the sense of Rouquier and Khovanov-Lauda) categorifying tensor products of irreducible representations. These are the representation categories of certain finite dimensional algebras with an explicit diagrammatic presentation, generalizing the cyclotomic quotient of the …
Let $J$ be a set of pairs consisting of good modules over an affine quantum algebra and invertible elements. The distribution of poles of the normalized R-matrices yields Khovanov-Lauda-Rouquier algebras $R^J$. We define a functor $F$ from the category $S_J$ of finite-dimensional graded $R^J$-modules to the category of finite-dimensional integrable $U_q(g)$-modules. The functor $F$ sends convolution products of $R^J$-modules to tensor products of $U_q(g)$-modules. It is exact if $R^J$ is of finite type A,D,E. When $J$ is the vector representation of $A^{(1)}_{n-1}$, we recover the affine Schur…
