We categorify Lusztig's version of the quantized enveloping algebra for sl(2). Using a graphical calculus a 2-category is constructed whose split Grothendieck ring is isomorphic to Lusztig's algebra. The indecomposable morphisms of this 2-category lift Lusztig's canonical basis, and the Homs between 1-morphisms are graded lifts of a semilinear form defined on quantum sl(2). Graded lifts of various homomorphisms and antihomomorphisms of Lusztig's algebra arise naturally in the context of our graphical calculus. Using iterated flag varieties, a representation of the 2-category is constructed for each positive integer N. This representation categorifies the irreducible (N+1)-dimensional representation of quantum sl(2).
We give a new proof of the "super Kazhdan-Lusztig conjecture" for the Lie super algebra $\mathfrak{gl}_{n|m}(\mathbb{C})$ as formulated originally by the first author. We also prove for the first time that any integral block of category O for $\mathfrak{gl}_{n|m}(\mathbb{C})$ (and also all of its parabolic analogs) possesses a graded version which is Koszul. Our approach depends crucially on an application of the uniqueness of tensor product categorifications established recently by the second two authors.
A theory of canonical basis for a two-parameter quantum algebra is developed in parallel with the one in one-parameter case. A geometric construction of the negative part of a two-parameter quantum algebra is given by using mixed perverse sheaves and Deligne's weight theory based on Lusztig's work. A categorification of the negative part of a two-parameter quantum algebra is provided. A two-parameter quantum algebra is shown to be a two-cocycle deformation, depending only on the second parameter, of its one-parameter analogue.
We study a presentation of Khovanov - Lauda - Rouquier's candidate $2$-categorification of a quantum group using algebraic rewriting methods. We use a computational approach based on rewriting modulo the isotopy axioms of its pivotal structure to compute a family of linear bases for all the vector spaces of $2$-cells in this $2$-category. We show that these bases correspond to Khovanov and Lauda's conjectured generating sets, proving the non-degeneracy of their diagrammatic calculus. This implies that this $2$-category is a categorification of Lusztig's idempotent and integral quantum group $\…
Bernstein, Frenkel, and Khovanov have constructed a categorification of tensor products of the standard representation of $\mathfrak{sl}_2$, where they use singular blocks of category $\mathcal{O}$ for $\mathfrak{sl}_n$ and translation functors. Here we construct a positive characteristic analogue using blocks of representations of $\mathfrak{sl}_n$ over a field $\textbf{k}$ of characteristic $p$ with zero Frobenius character, and singular Harish-Chandra character. We show that the aforementioned categorification admits a Koszul graded lift, which is equivalent to a geometric categorification …
We identify the Grothendieck group of certain direct sum of singular blocks of the highest weight category for sl(n) with the n-th tensor power of the fundamental (two-dimensional) sl(2)-module. The action of U(sl(2)) is given by projective functors and the commuting action of the Temperley-Lieb algebra by Zuckerman functors. Indecomposable projective functors correspond to Lusztig canonical basis in U(sl(2)). In the dual realization the n-th tensor power of the fundamental representation is identified with a direct sum of parabolic blocks of the highest weight category. Translation across the…
We construct 2-functors from a 2-category categorifying quantum sl(n) to 2-categories categorifying the irreducible representation of highest weight $ 2 ω_k. $
We define a bicomplex whose Euler characteristic is the idempotented version of the ribbon element of quantum sl(2). We show that properties of this bicomplex descend to the centrality, invertibility and symmetries of the ribbon element after decategorification.
We define a 2-category that categorifies the covering Kac-Moody algebra for sl(2) introduced by Clark and Wang. This categorification forms the structure of a super-2-category as formulated by Kang, Kashiwara, and Oh. The super-2-category structure introduces a (Z x Z_2)-grading giving its Grothendieck group the structure of a free module over the group algebra of Z x Z_2. By specializing the Z_2-action to +1 or to -1, the construction specializes to an "odd" categorification of sl(2) and to a supercategorification of osp(1|2), respectively.
A categorification of the Beilinson-Lusztig-MacPherson form of the quantum sl(2) was constructed in the paper arXiv:0803.3652 by the second author. Here we enhance the graphical calculus introduced and developed in that paper to include two-morphisms between divided powers one-morphisms and their compositions. We obtain explicit diagrammatical formulas for the decomposition of products of divided powers one-morphisms as direct sums of indecomposable one-morphisms; the latter are in a bijection with the Lusztig canonical basis elements. These formulas have integral coefficients and imply that o…
This is a follow-up to the paper in which we categorified the affine quantum Schur algebra S(n,r) for 2 < r < n, using a quotient of Khovanov and Lauda's categorification of the affine quantum sl_n. In this paper we categorify S(n,n) for n > 2, using an extension of the aforementioned quotient.
We study the Kostant-Lusztig $\mathbb A$-base of the multiparameter quantum groups. To simplify calculations, especially for $G_2$-type, we utilize the duality of the pairing of the universal $R$-matrix.
The colored Jones polynomial of links has two natural normalizations: one in which the n-colored unknot evaluates to [n+1], the quantum dimension of the (n+1)-dimensional irreducible representation of quantum sl(2), and the other in which it evaluates to 1. For each normalization we construct a bigraded cohomology theory of links with the colored Jones polynomial as the Euler characteristic.
We categorify the extended affine Hecke algebra and the affine quantum Schur algebra S(n,r) for 2 < r < n, using Elias-Khovanov and Khovanov-Lauda type diagrams. We also define the affine analogue of the Elias-Khovanov and the Khovanov-Lauda 2-representations of these categorifications into an extension of the 2-category of affine (singular) Soergel bimodules.
Our investigation in the present paper is based on three important results. (1) In [12], Ringel introduced Hall algebra for representations of a quiver over finite fields and proved the elements corresponding to simple representations satisfy the quantum Serre relation. This gives a realization of the nilpotent part of quantum group if the quiver is of finite type. (2) In [4], Green found a homological formula for the representation category of the quiver and equipped Ringel's Hall algebra with a comultiplication. The generic form of the composition subalgebra of Hall algebra generated by simp…
This paper develops a general theory of canonical bases, and how they arise naturally in the context of categorification. As an application, we show that Lusztig's canonical basis in the whole quantized universal enveloping algebra is given by the classes of the indecomposable 1-morphisms in a categorification when the associated Lie algebra is finite type and simply laced. We also introduce natural categories whose Grothendieck groups correspond to the tensor products of lowest and highest weight integrable representations. This generalizes past work of the author's in the highest weight case…
We build extensions of the arc rings, relate their centers to the cohomology rings of the Springer varieties, and categorify all level two representations of quantum sl(N).
We consider the quantum algebra $U_q(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$ in the equitable presentation. From this point of view, we describe the Lusztig automorphism and the corresponding Lusztig operator.
We describe a collection of differential graded rings that categorify weight spaces of the positive half of the quantized universal enveloping algebra of the Lie superalgebra gl(m|1).
The purpose of this paper is to study categorifications of tensor products of finite dimensional modules for the quantum group for sl(2). The main categorification is obtained using certain Harish-Chandra bimodules for the complex Lie algebra gl(n). For the special case of simple modules we naturally deduce a categorification via modules over the cohomology ring of certain flag varieties. Further geometric categorifications and the relation to Steinberg varieties are discussed. We also give a categorical version of the quantised Schur-Weyl duality and an interpretation of the (dual) canonical …
We study the Hopf algebra structure of Lusztig's quantum groups. First we show that the zero part is the tensor product of the group algebra of a finite abelian group with the enveloping algebra of an abelian Lie algebra. Second we build them from the plus, minus and zero parts by means of suitable actions and coactions within the formalism presented by Sommerhauser to describe triangular decompositions.
We introduce and investigate new invariants on the pair of modules $M$ and $N$ over quantum affine algebras $U_q'(\mathfrak{g})$ by analyzing their associated R-matrices. From new invariants, we provide a criterion for a monoidal category of finite-dimensional integrable $U_q'(\mathfrak{g})$-modules to become a monoidal categorification of a cluster algebra.
We introduce the notion of quantum Schur (or $q$-Schur) superalgebras. These algebras share certain nice properties with $q$-Schur algebras such as base change property, existence of canonical $\mathbb Z[v,v^{-1}]$-bases, and the duality relation with quantum matrix superalgebra $\sA(m|n)$. We also construct a cellular $\mathbb Q(\up)$-basis and determine its associated cells, called super-cells, in terms of a Robinson--Schensted--Knuth super-correspondence. In this way, we classify all irreducible representations over $\mathbb Q(\up)$ via super-cell modules.
Any finite-dimensional Hopf algebra H is Frobenius and the stable category of H-modules is triangulated monoidal. To H-comodule algebras we assign triangulated module-categories over the stable category of H-modules. These module-categories are generalizations of homotopy and derived categories of modules over a differential graded algebra. We expect that, for suitable H, our construction could be a starting point in the program of categorifying quantum invariants of 3-manifolds.
In \cite{JKS} we gave an (additive) categorification of Grassmannian cluster algebras, using the category $\CM(A)$ of Cohen-Macaulay modules for a certain Gorenstein order $A$. In this paper, using a cluster tilting object in the same category $\CM(A)$, we construct a compatible pair $(B, L)$, which is the data needed to define a quantum cluster algebra. We show that when $(B, L)$ is defined from a cluster tilting object with rank 1 summands, this quantum cluster algebra is (generically) isomorphic to the corresponding quantum Grassmannian.
The Jones-Wenzl projectors play a central role in quantum topology, underlying the construction of SU(2) topological quantum field theories and quantum spin networks. We construct chain complexes whose graded Euler characteristic is the "classical" projector in the Temperley-Lieb algebra. We show that they are homotopy idempotents and uniquely defined up to homotopy. Our results fit within the general framework of Khovanov's categorification of the Jones polynomial. Consequences of our construction include families of knot invariants corresponding to higher representations of quantum su(2) and…
Using a modified foam evaluation, we give a categorification of the Alexander polynomial of a knot. We also give a purely algebraic version of this knot homology which makes it appear as the infinite page of a spectral sequence starting at the reduced triply graded link homology of Khovanov--Rozansky.
We introduce a non-degenerate bilinear form and use it to provide a new characterization of quantum Kac-Moody superalgebras with no isotropic odd simple roots. We show that the spin quiver Hecke algebras introduced by Kang-Kashiwara-Tsuchioka provide a categorification of half the quantum Kac-Moody superalgebras, using the recent work of Ellis-Khovanov-Lauda. A new idea here is that a super sign is categorified as spin (i.e., the parity-shift functor).
We give a definition of monoidal categorifications of quantum cluster algebras and provide a criterion for a monoidal category of finite-dimensional graded $R$-modules to become a monoidal categorification of a quantum cluster algebra, where $R$ is a symmetric Khovanov-Lauda-Rouquier algebra. Roughly speaking, this criterion asserts that a quantum monoidal seed can be mutated successively in all the directions once the first-step mutations are possible. In the course of the study, we also give a proof of a conjecture of Leclerc on the product of upper global basis elements.
We construct a categorification of the quantum sl_3 projectors, the sl_3 analog of the Jones-Wenzl projectors, as the stable limit of the complexes assigned to k-twist torus braids (as k goes to infinity) in a suitably shifted version of Morrison and Nieh's geometric formulation of sl_3 link homology (math.GT/0612754). We use these projectors to give a categorification of the sl_3 Reshetikhin-Turaev invariant of framed tangles.
We introduce a new family of real simple modules over the quantum affine algebras, called the affine determinantial modules, which contains the Kirillov-Reshetikhin (KR)-modules as a special subfamily, and then prove T-systems among them which generalize the T-systems among KR-modules and unipotent quantum minors in the quantum unipotent coordinate algebras simultaneously. We develop new combinatorial tools: admissible chains of i-boxes which produce commuting families of affine determinantial modules, and box moves which describe the T-system in a combinatorial way. Using these results, we pr…
In this paper I define certain interesting 2-functors from the Khovanov-Lauda 2-category which categorifies quantum sl(k), for any k>1, to a 2-category of universal sl(3) foams with corners. For want of a better name I use the term "foamation" to indicate those 2-functors. I conjecture the existence of similar 2-functors to the 2-category of sl(n) foams with corners, for any n>1.
We consider the quantum cluster algebras which are injective-reachable and introduce a triangular basis in every seed. We prove that, under some initial conditions, there exists a unique common triangular basis with respect to all seeds. This basis is parametrized by tropical points as expected in the Fock-Goncharov conjecture. As an application, we prove the existence of the common triangular bases for the quantum cluster algebras arising from representations of quantum affine algebras and partially for those arising from quantum unipotent subgroups. This result implies monoidal categorificat…
In this paper, we shall study the structure of the Grothendieck group of the category consisting of Lusztig's perverse sheaves and give a decomposition theorem of it. By using this decomposition theorem and the geometric realizations of Lusztig's symmetries on the positive part of a quantum group, we shall give geometric realizations of Lusztig's symmetries on the whole quantum group.
We prove that the quantum unipotent coordinate algebra $A_q(\mathfrak{n}(w))\ $ associated with a symmetric Kac-Moody algebra and its Weyl group element $w$ has a monoidal categorification as a quantum cluster algebra. As an application of our earlier work, we achieve it by showing the existence of a quantum monoidal seed of $A_q(\mathfrak{n}(w))$ which admits the first-step mutations in all the directions. As a consequence, we solve the conjecture that any cluster monomial is a member of the upper global basis up to a power of $q^{1/2}$.
We categorify one half of the small quantum sl(2) at a prime root of unity. An extension of this construction to an arbitrary simply-laced case is proposed.
The geometric realizations of Lusztig's symmetries of symmetrizable quantum groups are given in this paper. This construction is a generalization of that in [19].
We provide a deformation, $\mathfrak{f}_β$, of Lusztig algebra $\mathbf{f}$. Various quantum algebras in literatures, including half parts of two-parameter quantum algebras, quantum superalgebras, and multi-parameter quantum algebras/superalgebras, are all specializations of $\mathfrak{f}_β$. Moreover, $\mathfrak{f}_β$ is isomorphic to Lusztig algebra $\mathbf{f}$ up to a twist. As a consequence, half parts of those quantum algebras are isomorphic to Lusztig algebra $\mathbf{f}$ over a big enough ground field up to certain twists. We further construct the entire algebra $\mathbf U_{β,ξ}$ by Dr…
Pascal Baseilhac and Stefan Kolb recently introduced the Lusztig automorphism $L$ of the $q$-Onsager algebra $\mathcal O_q$. In this paper, we express each of $L, L^{-1}$ as a formal sum involving some quantum adjoints. In addition, (i) we give a computer-free proof that $L$ exists; (ii) we establish the higher order $q$-Dolan/Grady relations previously conjectured by Baseilhac and Thao Vu; (iii) we obtain a Lusztig automorphism for the current algebra $\mathcal A_q$ associated with $\mathcal O_q$; (iv) we describe what happens when a finite-dimensional irreducible $\mathcal O_q$-module is twi…
Let $U$ be a quantized enveloping algebra. We consider the adjoint action of an $\mathfrak{sl}_2$-subalgebra of $U$ on a subalgebra of $U^+$ that is maximal integrable for this action. We categorify this representation in the context of quiver Hecke algebras. We obtain an action of the 2-category associated with $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ on a category of modules over certain quotients of quiver Hecke algebras. Our approach is similar to that of Kang-Kashiwara for categorifications of highest weight modules via cyclotomic quiver Hecke algebras. One of the main new features is a compatibility of the cat…
