It is proven that the energy of a quantum mechanical harmonic oscillator with a generically time-dependent but cyclic frequency, $ω_{0}(t_{0})= ω_{0}(0)$, cannot decrease on the average if the system is originally in a stationary state, after the system goes through a full cycle. After a brief introduction recalling how, in the limit in which the mass and the electric charge of the electron and the positron tend to zero, Quantum Electrodynamics reduces to a collection of uncoupled quantum supersymmetric harmonic oscillators, the phase operator of the quantum fermionic harmonic oscillator and of the quantum supersymmetric harmonic oscillator are introduced and their properties analyzed. We propose a new approach to the quantization of the damped harmonic oscillator in the framework of deformation quantization. The quantization is performed in the Schrödinger picture by a star-product induced by a modified "Poisson bracket". We determine the eigenstates in the damped regime and compute the transition probability between states of the undamped harmonic oscillator after the system was submitted to dissipation.

Normally, the half-harmonic oscillator is active when $x>0$ and absent when $x<0$. From a canonical quantization perspective, this leads to odd eigenfunctions being present while even eigenfunctions are absent. In that case, only the usual odd eigenfunctions will appear if the wall slides to negative infinity. However, if an affine quantization is used, sliding the wall away shows that all the odd and even eigenfunctions are encountered, exactly like any full-harmonic oscillator. In this investigation, the displacement operator is revisited. We established a connection between the Hermitian version of this operator with the well-known Weyl ordering. Besides, we characterized the quantum properties of a simple displaced harmonic oscillator, as well as of a displaced anisotropic two-dimensional non-Hermitian harmonic oscillator. By constructing the partition functions for both harmonic oscillators, we were able to derive several thermodynamic quantities from their energy spectra. We give an alternative formulation of the no-cloning theorem that applies to harmonic oscillator coherent states. It says that {\em unknown} single harmonic oscillator coherent states can not be {\em amplified}. Conversely it says that {\em known} harmonic oscillator coherent states can be directly amplified through an universal unitary process. It is also shown that such a formulation is needed for the consistency of {\em information cloning} proposed by us long ago.

The quantum constraint equations for a relativistic three-dimensional harmonic oscillator are shown to find concise expression in terms of Lorentz covariant ladder operators. We study the entanglement entropy of harmonic oscillators in noncommutative phase space. We propose a new definition of quantum Rényi entropy based on Wigner functions in noncommutative phase space. Using the Rényi entropy, we calculate the entanglement entropy of the ground state of the 2D isotropic harmonic oscillators. We find that for some values of the noncommutative parameters, the harmonic oscillators can be entangled in noncommutative phase space. This is a new entanglement-like effect caused by the noncommutativity of the phase space.

The algebra contains tensors of noncommutativity constructed involving additional coordinates and momenta. We analyse the properties of a strongly-damped quantum harmonic oscillator by means of an exact diagonalisation of the full Hamiltonian, including both the oscillator and the reservoir degrees of freedom to which it is coupled. A certain notion of canonical equivalence in quantum mechanics is proposed. It is used to relate quantal systems with discrete ones. Discrete systems canonically equivalent to the celebrated harmonic oscillator as well as the quartic and the quasi-exactly-solvable anharmonic oscillators are found. They can be viewed as a translation-covariant discretization of the (an)harmonic oscillator preserving isospectrality. The notion of the $q-$deformation of the canonical equivalence leading to a dilatation-covariant discretization preserving polynomiality of eigenfunctions is also presented.
We report that upon excitation by a single pulse, the classical harmonic oscillator immersed in classical electromagnetic zero-point radiation, as described by random electrodynamics, exhibits a quantized excitation spectrum in agreement to that of the quantum harmonic oscillator.
