A class of highest weight irreducible representations of the algebra $U_h(A_\infty)$, the quantum analogue of the completion and central extension $A_\infty$ of the Lie algebra $gl_\infty$, is constructed. It is considerably larger than the class of representations known so far. Within each module a basis is introduced and the transformation relations of the basis under the action of the Chevalley generators are explicitly given. The verification of the quantum algebra relations is shown to reduce to a set of nontrivial $q$-number identities. All representations are restricted in the terminology of S. Levendorskii and Y. Soibelman (Commun. Math. Phys. {\bf 140}, 399-414 (1991)).
The Iwahori-Hecke algebra of type A acts on tensor product space of the natural representation of the quantum superalgebra U_q(gl(m,n)). We show this action of the Hecke algebra and the action of U_q(gl(m,n)) on the same space determine commuting actions of each other. Together with this result and Gyoja's q-analogue of the Young symmetrizer, we construct a highest weight vector of each irreducible summmand of the tensor product space.
We generalize the results of [KMST] concerning equivariant quantization by means of Verma modules $M(λ)$ for generic weight $λ$ to the case of general $λ$. We consider the relationship between the Shapovalov form on an irreducible highest weight module of a semisimple complex Lie algebra, fusion elements, and equivariant quantization. We also discuss some limiting properties of fusion elements. [KMST] E. Karolinsky and A. Stolin, Dynamical Yang-Baxter equations, quasi-Poisson homogeneous spaces, and quantization, Lett. Math. We shall derive Kazhdan-Lusztig type character formula for the irreducible modules with arbitrary non-critical highest weights over affine Lie algebras from the rational case by using the translation functor, the Enright functor and Jantzen's deformation argument.
We detail the automatic construction of R matrices corresponding to (the tensor products of) the (0|α) families of highest-weight representations of the quantum superalgebras U_q[gl(m|n)]. These representations are irreducible, contain a free complex parameter α, and are 2^{mn} dimensional. Our R matrices are actually (sparse) rank 4 tensors, containing a total of 2^{4mn} components, each of which is in general an algebraic expression in the two complex variables q and α. Although the constructions are straightforward, we describe them in full here, to fill a perceived gap in the literature. A…
We decompose the level-1 irreducible highest weight modules of the quantum affine algebra $U_q(\hat{sl}_n)$ with respect to the level-0 $U'_q (\hat{sl}_n)$--action defined in q-alg/9702024. The decomposition is parameterized by the skew Young diagrams of the border strip type.
Two classes of irreducible highest weight modules of the general linear Lie superalgebra $gl(1/\infty)$ are constructed. Within each module a basis is introduced and the transformation relations of the basis under the action of the algebra generators are written down.
We study a particular category ${\cal{C}}$ of $\gl_{\infty}$-modules and a subcategory ${\cal{C}}_{int}$ of integrable $\gl_{\infty}$-modules. As the main results, we classify the irreducible modules in these two categories and we show that every module in category ${\cal{C}}_{int}$ is semi-simple. Furthermore, we determine the decomposition of the tensor products of irreducible modules in category ${\cal{C}}_{int}$.

We present a geometric construction of highest weight crystals for quantum generalized Kac-Moody algebras. It is given in terms of the irreducible components of certain Lagrangian subvarieties of Nakajima's quiver varieties associated to quivers with edge loops.
Let $\D$ be the Lie algebra of regular differentialoperators on ${\C} \setminus \{0\}$, and ${\hD}= {\D} + {\C} C$ be the central extension of ${\D}$. Let $W_{1+\infty,-N}$ be the vertex algebra associated to the irreducible vacuum $\hD$-module with the central charge $c=-N$. We show that $W_{1+\infty,-N}$ is a subalgebra of the Heisenberg vertex algebra M(1) with $2 N$ generators, and construct 2N-dimensional family of irreducible $W_{1+\infty,-N}$-modules. Considering these modules as $\hD$-modules, we identify the corresponding highest weights.
We give the complete set of irreducible representations of U(SU(2))_q when q is a m-th root of unity. In particular we show that their dimensions are less or equal to m. Some of them are not highest weight representations.
In this paper, for every $ε\in \mathbb{Z}$, we introduce an extension of the 2-toroidal Lie algebra by certain derivations. Based on the $ϕ_ε$-coordinated modules theory for vertex algebras, we give an explicit realization of a class of irreducible highest weight modules for this extended toroidal Lie algebra. When $ε=1$, this affords a realization of certain irreducible modules for the toroidal extended affine Lie algebras first constructed by Billig.
We bosonize certain components of level $\ell$ $U_q(\hat{sl}_2)$-intertwiners of $(\ell + 1)$-dimensions. For $\ell = 2$, these intertwiners, after certain modification by bosonic vertex operators, are added to the algebra $U_q(\hat{sl}_2)$ at level 2 to construct all irreducible highest weight representations of level 1 for the quantum affine algebra $U_q(\hat{sp}_4)$.
Using combinatorics of Young walls, we give a new realization of arbitrary level irreducible highest weight crystals $\mathcal{B}(λ)$ for quantum affine algebras of type $A_n^{(1)}$, $B_n^{(1)}$, $C_n^{(1)}$, $A_{2n-1}^{(2)}$, $A_{2n}^{(2)}$, and $D_{n+1}^{(2)}$. The irreducible highest weight crystals are realized as the affine crystals consisting of reduced proper Young walls. The notion of slices and splitting of blocks plays a crucial role in the constructions of crystal graphs.
We study the representations of the W-algebra W(g) associated to an arbitrary finite-dimensional simple Lie algebra g via the quantized Drinfeld-Sokolov reductions. The characters of irreducible representations with non-degenerate highest weights are expressed by Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials. The irreduciblity conjecture of Frenkel, Kac and Wakimoto is proved completely for the "-" reduction and partially for the "+" reduction. In particular, the existence of the minimal series representations (= the modular invariant representations) of W(g) is proved.
In a recent paper, V. Dobrev and A. Sudbery classified the highest-weight and lowest-weight finite dimensional irreducible representations of the quantum Lie algebra sl(2)_q introduced by V. Lyubashenko and A. Sudbery. The aim of this note is to add to this classification all the finite dimensional irreducible representations which have no highest weight and/or no lowest weight, in the case when q is a root of unity. For this purpose, we give a description of the enlarged centre.
We study the level-one irreducible highest weight representations of $U_q[\hat{gl(1|1)}]$ and associated q-vertex operators. We obtain the exchange relations satisfied by the vertex operators. The characters and supercharacters associated with these irreducible representations are calculated.
We classify the quasifinite highest weight modules over a family of subalgebras W_{\infty}^{n} of the central extension W_{1+\infty} of the Lie algebra of differential operators on the circle consisting of operators of order \geq n. We classify the unitary quasifinite highest weight modules over W_{\infty}=W_{\infty}^{1} and realize them in terms of unitary highest weight representations of the Lie algebra of infinite matrices with finitely many non-zero diagonals.
A class of highest weight irreducible representations of the quantum algebra U_h(gl_\infty) is constructed. Within each module a basis is introduced and the transformation relations of the basis under the action of the Chevalley generators are explicitly written.
We consider a special category of Hopf algebras, depending on parameters $Σ$ which possess properties similar to the category of representations of simple Lie group with highest weight $λ$. We connect quantum groups to minimal objects in this categories---they correspond to irreducible representations in the category of representations with highest weight $λ$. Moreover, we want to correspond quantum groups only to finite dimensional irreducible representations. This gives us a condition for $λ$: $λ$--- is dominant means the minimal object in the category of representations with highest weight …
Using certain results for the vertex operator algebras associated with affine Lie algebras we obtain recurrence relations for the characters of integrable highest weight irreducible modules for an affine Lie algebra. As an application we show that in the simply-laced level 1 case, these recurrence relations give the known characters, whose principal specializations naturally give rise to some multisum Macdonald identities.
The present paper establishes a connection between the Lie algebra W_{1+infty} and the bispectral problem. We show that the manifolds of bispectral operators obtained by Darboux transformations on powers of Bessel operators are in one to one correspondence with the manifolds of tau-functions lying in the W_{1+infty}-modules M_beta introduced in our previous paper hep-th/9510211. An immediate corollary is that they are preserved by hierarchies of symmetries generated by subalgebras of W_{1+infty}. This paper is the last of a series of papers (hep-th/9510211, q-alg/9602010, q-alg/9602011) on the…
We determine the exchange relations of the level-one q-vertex operators of the quantum affine superalgebra $U_q[\hat{gl(N|N)}]$. We study in details the level-one irreducible highest weight representations of $U_q[\hat{gl(2|2)}]$, and compute the characters and supercharacters associated with these irreducible modules.
A representation of the Quantum Toroidal Algebra of type sl(N) is constructed on every irreducible integrable highest weight module of the Quantum Affine Algebra of type gl(N). As an intermediate step in the construction, we obtain a quantum analogue of the classical level-rank duality, describing the reciprocal decomposition of the q-Fock space with respect to mutually commutative actions of U_q(gl(N)^) of level L, and U_q(sl(L)^) of level N.
We study the level-one irreducible highest weight representations of the quantum affine superalgebra $U_q[\hat{sl(N|1)}]$, and calculate their characters and supercharacters. We obtain bosonized q-vertex operators acting on the irreducible $U_q[\hat{sl(N|1)}]$-modules and derive the exchange relations satisfied by the vertex operators. We give the bosonization of the multi-component super $t-J$ model by using the bosonized vertex operators.
In this paper, we first construct a Lie algebra $L$ from rank 3 quantum torus, and show that it is isomorphic to the core of EALAs of type $A_1$ with coordinates in rank 2 quantum torus. Then we construct two classes of irreducible ${\bf Z}$-graded highest weight representations, and give the necessary and sufficient conditions for these representations to be quasifinite. Next, we prove that they exhaust all the generalized highest weight irreducible ${\bf Z}$-graded quasifinite representations. As a consequence, we determine all the irreducible ${\bf Z}$-graded quasifinite representations wit…
The trace of intertwining operators over the level one irreducible highest weight modules of the quantum affine algebra of type A_{N-1} is studied. It is proved that the trace function gives a basis of the solution space of the qKZ equation at a generic level. The highest-highest matrix element of the composition of intertwining operators is explicitly calculated. The integral formula for the trace is presented.
We consider $U_{q}(\mathfrak{gl}_{n})$, the quantum group of type $A$ for $|q| = 1$, $q$ generic. We provide formulas for signature characters of irreducible finite-dimensional highest weight modules and Verma modules. In both cases, the technique involves combinatorics of the Gelfand-Tsetlin bases. As an application, we obtain information about unitarity of finite-dimensional irreducible representations for arbitrary $q$: we classify the continuous spectrum of the unitarity locus. We also recover some known results in the classical limit $q \rightarrow 1$ that were obtained by different means…
We study quantized enveloping algebras called twisted Yangians. They are analogues of the Yangian Y(gl(N)) for the classical Lie algebras of B, C, and D series. The twisted Yangians are subalgebras in Y(gl(N)) and coideals with respect to the coproduct in Y(gl(N)). We give a complete description of their finite-dimensional irreducible representations. Every such representation is highest weight and we give necessary and sufficient conditions for an irreducible highest weight representation to be finite-dimensional. The result is analogous to Drinfeld's theorem for the ordinary Yangians. Its de…
An action of the Yangian of the general Lie algebra gl(N) is defined on every irreducible integrable highest weight module of affine gl(N) with level greater than 1. This action is derived, by means of the Drinfeld duality and a subsequent semi-infinite limit, from a certain induced representation of the degenerate double affine Hecke algebra H. Each vacuum module of affine gl(N) is decomposed into irreducible Yangian subrepresentations by means of the intertwiners of H. Components of this decomposition are parameterized by semi-infinite skew Young diagrams.
We classify the quasi-finite irreducible highest weight modules over the infinite rank Lie superalgebras $\hgltwo$, $\hC$ and $\hD$, and determine the necessary and sufficient conditions for quasi-finite irreducible highest weight modules to be unitarizable with respect to natural $\ast$-structures of the Lie superalgebras. The unitarizable irreducible modules are constructed in terms of Fock spaces of free quantum fields, and explicit formulae for their formal characters are also obtained by investigating Howe dualities between the infinite rank Lie superalgebras and classical Lie groups.
We classify finite-dimensional irreducible highest weight modules of generalized quantum groups whose positive part is infinite dimensional and has a Kharchenko's PBW basis with an irreducible finite positive root system.
A classification of finite dimensional irreducible representations of the nonstandard $q$-deformation $U'_q(so_n)$ of the universal enveloping algebra $U(so(n, C))$ of the Lie algebra $so(n, C)$ (which does not coincides with the Drinfeld--Jimbo quantized universal enveloping algebra $U_q(so_n)$) is given for the case when $q$ is not a root of unity. It is shown that such representations are exhausted by representations of the classical and nonclassical types. Examples of the algebras $U'_q(so_3)$ and $U'_q(so_4)$ are considered in detail. The notions of weights, highest weights, highest weigh…
In a categorification of tensor products of fundamental representations of quantum sl(k) via highest weight categories, the indecomposable tilting modules descend to the canonical basis. Since projective functors map tilting modules to tilting modules, the coefficients of the canonical basis of tensor products of finite dimensional, irreducible representations under the action of the Chevalley generators are positive.
We classify the simple quantum group modules with finite dimensional weight spaces when the quantum parameter $q$ is transcendental and the Lie algebra is not of type $G_2$. This is part $2$ of the story. The first part being Irreducible quantum group modules with finite dimensional weight spaces. I (arXiv:1504.07042). In that paper the classification is reduced to the classification of torsion free simple modules. In this paper we follow the procedures used by O. Mathieu to reduce the classification to the classification of infinite dimensional admissible simple highest weight modules. We the…
We construct a new representation of the infinite rank Lie algebra $a_{\infty}$ with central charge $c=1$ on the Fock space $\mathit{F^{\otimes \frac{1}{2}}}$ of a single neutral fermion. We show that $\mathit{F^{\otimes \frac{1}{2}}}$ is a direct sum of irreducible integrable highest weight modules for $a_{\infty}$ with central charge $c=1$. We prove that as $a_{\infty}$ modules $\mathit{F^{\otimes \frac{1}{2}}}$ is isomorphic to the Fock space $\mathit{F^{\otimes 1}}$ of the charged free fermions. As a corollary we obtain the decompositions of certain irreducible highest weight modules for $…
In this paper, we explore natural connections among the representations of the extended affine Lie algebra $\widehat{sl_N}(\mathbb{C}_q)$ with $\mathbb{C}_q=\mathbb{C}_q[t_0^{\pm1},t_1^{\pm1}]$ an irrational quantum 2-torus, the simple affine vertex algebra $L_{\widehat{sl_{\infty}}}(\ell,0)$ with $\ell$ a positive integer, and Levi subgroups $G$ of $GL_\ell(\mathbb{C})$. First, we give a canonical isomorphism between the category of integrable restricted $\widehat{sl_N}(\mathbb{C}_q)$-modules of level $\ell$ and that of equivariant quasi $L_{\widehat{sl_{\infty}}}(\ell,0)$-modules. Second, we…
We consider the quantum symmetric pair $(\mathcal{U}_q(\mathfrak{su}(3)), \mathcal{B})$ where $\mathcal{B}$ is a right coideal subalgebra. We prove that all finite-dimensional irreducible representations of $\mathcal{B}$ are weight representations and are characterised by their highest weight and dimension. We show that the restriction of a finite-dimensional irreducible representation of $\mathcal{U}_q(\mathfrak{su}(3))$ to $\mathcal{B}$ decomposes multiplicity free into irreducible representations of $\mathcal{B}$. Furthermore we give explicit expressions for the highest weight vectors in th…
We define analogues of Verma modules for finite W-algebras. By the usual ideas of highest weight theory, this is a first step towards the classification of finite dimensional irreducible modules. Motivated by known results in type A, we then formulate some precise conjectures in the case of nilpotent orbits of standard Levi type.
We show that the support of an irreducible weight module over the twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro algebra, which has an infinite dimensional weight space, coincides with the weight lattice and that all nontrivial weight spaces of such a module are infinite dimensional. As a corollary, we obtain that every irreducible weight module over the twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro algebra, having a nontrivial finite dimensional weight space, is a Harish-Chandra module (and hence is either an irreducible highest or lowest weight module or an irreducible module from the intermediate series
This paper is the detailed version of math.QA/0403477 (T. Arakawa, Quantized Reductions and Irreducible Representations of W-Algebras) with extended results; We study the representation theory of the W-algebra $W_k(g)$ associated with a simple Lie algebra $g$ (and its principle nilpotent element) at level k. We show that the "-" reduction functor is exact and sends an irreducible module to zero or an irreducible module at any level k. Moreover, we show that the character of each irreducible highest weight representation of $W_k(g)$ is completely determined by that of the corresponding irreduci…
Tensor products of irreducible representations of the Jordanian quantum algebras U_h(sl(2)) and U_h(su(1,1)) are considered. For both the highest weight finite dimensional representations of U_h(sl(2)) and lowest weight infinite dimensional ones of U_h(su(1,1)), it is shown that tensor product representations are reducible and that the decomposition rules to irreducible representations are exactly the same as those of corresponding Lie algebras.
We give a new realization of arbitrary level perfect crystals and arbitrary level irreducible highest weight crystals of type $D_n^{(1)}$, in the language of Young walls. The notions of splitting of blocks and slices play crucial roles in the construction of crystals. The perfect crystals are realized as the set of equivalence classes of slices. And the irreducible highest weight crystals are realized as the affine crystals consisting of reduced proper Young walls which, in turn, are concatenations of slices.
It is well known that using the weight lattice of type $E_6$, $P$, and the lattice construction for vertex operator algebras one can obtain all three level 1 irreducible $\tilde{g}$-modules with $V_P = V^{\Lamba_0} \oplus V^{\Lamba_1} \oplus V^{\Lamba_6}$. The Dynkin diagram of type $E_6$ has an order 2 automorphism, $τ$, which can be lifted to $\tilde{τ}$, a Lie algebra automorphism of $\tilde{g}$ of type $E_6^(1)$. The fixed points of $\tilde{τ}$ are a subalgebra $\tilde{a}$ of type $F_4^(1)$. The automorphism $τ$ lifts further to $\hat{τ}$ a vertex operator algebra automorphism of $V_P$. We…
We show that the support of an irreducible weight module over the $W$-algebra $W(2, 2)$, which has an infinite dimensional weight space, coincides with the weight lattice and that all nontrivial weight spaces of such a module are infinite dimensional. As a corollary, we obtain that every irreducible weight module over the the $W$-algebra $W(2, 2)$, having a nontrivial finite dimensional weight space, is a Harish-Chandra module (and hence is either an irreducible highest or lowest weight module or an irreducible module of the intermediate series).
In this paper, we consider the classification of irreducible ${\bf Z}$- and ${\bf Z}^2$-graded modules with finite dimensional homogeneous subspaces over the Virasoro-like algebra. We first prove that such a module is a uniformly bounded module or a generalized highest weight module. Then we determine all generalized highest weight irreducible modules. As a consequence, we also determine all the modules with nonzero center. Finally, we prove that there does not exist any nontrivial ${\bf Z}$-graded modules of intermediate series.
In this paper, we prove Khovanov-Lauda's cyclotomic categorification conjecture for all symmetrizable Kac-Moody algebras. Let $U_q(g)$ be the quantum group associated with a symmetrizable Cartan datum and let $V(Λ)$ be the irreducible highest weight $U_q(g)$-module with a dominant integral highest weight $Λ$. We prove that the cyclotomic Khovanov-Lauda-Rouquier algebra $R^Λ$ gives a categorification of $V(Λ)$.
We announce a systematic way for constructing bispectral algebras of commuting differential operators of any rank N. It enables us to obtain all previously known classes and examples of bispectral operators. Moreover, we give a representation-theoretic explanation of the results including those of Duistermaat and Grünbaum. The manifold of bispectral operators of any order is preserved by an hierarchy of symmetries. We point out that our methods provide a completely algorithmic procedure for obtaining bispectral algebras. We conjecture that the class built in the present paper exhausts all bisp…
In this paper we prove the Kazhdan-Lusztig type character formula for irreducible highest weight modules with positive rational highest weights over symmetrizable Kac-Moody Lie algebras.
We classify positive energy representations with finite degeneracies of the Lie algebra $W_{1+\infty}\/$ and construct them in terms of representation theory of the Lie algebra $\hatgl ( \infty R_m )\/$ of infinite matrices with finite number of non-zero diagonals over the algebra $R_m = \C [ t ] / ( t^{m + 1} )\/$. The unitary ones are classified as well. Similar results are obtained for the sin-algebras.
In the first part of the paper we give the denominator identity for all simple finite-dimensional Lie super algebras $\frak g\/$ with a non-degenerate invariant bilinear form. We give also a character and (super) dimension formulas for all finite-dimensional irreducible $\frak g\/$-modules of atypicality $\leq 1\/$ . In the second part of the paper we give the denominator identity for the affine superalgebras $\hat{\frak g}\/$ associated to $\frak g\/$. Specializations of this identity give almost all old and many new formulas for the number of representations of an integer as sums of squares …
Specializing properly the parameters contained in the maximal cyclic representation of the non-restricted A-type quantum algebra at roots of unity, we find the unique primitive vector in it. We show that the submodule generated by the primitive vector can be identified with an irreducble highest weight module of the finite dimensional A-type quantum algebra which is defined as the subalgebra of the restricted quantum algebra at roots of unity.
In the preceding paper, we formulated a conjecture on the relations between certain classes of irreducible representations of affine Hecke algebras of type B and symmetric crystals for $\gl_\infty$. In the present paper, we prove the existence of the symmetric crystal and the global basis for $\gl_\infty$.
We study a family of fermionic oscillator representations of the Virasoro algebra via 2-point-local Virasoro fields on the Fock space $\mathit{F^{\otimes \frac{1}{2}}}$ of a neutral (real) fermion. We obtain the decomposition of $\mathit{F^{\otimes \frac{1}{2}}}$ as a direct sum of irreducible highest weight Virasoro modules with central charge $c=1$. As a corollary we obtain the decomposition of the irreducible highest weight Virasoro modules with central charge $c=\frac{1}{2}$ into irreducible highest weight Virasoro modules with central charge $c=1$. As an application we show how positive s…
Methods are developed for systematically constructing the finite dimensional irreducible representations of the super Yangian Y(gl(M|N)) associated with the Lie superalgebra gl(M|N). It is also shown that every finite dimensional irreducible representation of Y(gl(M|N)) is of highest weight type, and is uniquely characterized by a highest weight. The necessary and sufficient conditions for an irrep to be finite dimensional are given.
The aim of the paper is to study modules for the twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro algebra $\mathcal H$ at level zero as modules for the $W(2,2)$-algebra by using construction from [J. Pure Appl. Algebra 219 (2015), 4322-4342, arXiv:1405.1707]. We prove that the irreducible highest weight ${\mathcal H}$-module is irreducible as $W(2,2)$-module if and only if it has a typical highest weight. Finally, we construct a screening operator acting on the Heisenberg-Virasoro vertex algebra whose kernel is exactly $W(2,2)$ vertex algebra.
We give a simple characterization of the highest weight vertices in the crystal graph of the level l Fock spaces. This characterization is based on the notion of totally periodic symbols viewed as affine analogues of reverse lattice words classically used in the decomposition of tensor products of fundamental $\mathfrak{sl}_{n}$-modules. This yields a combinatorial decomposition of the Fock spaces in their irreducible components and the branching law for the restriction of the irreducible highest weight $\mathfrak{sl}_{\infty}$-modules to $\hat{\mathfrak{sl}_{e}}$.
