We consider a generalization of representations of quivers that can be derived from the ordinary representations of quivers by considering a product of arbitrary classical groups instead of a product of the general linear groups and by considering the dual action of groups on "vertex" vector spaces together with the usual action. A generating system for the corresponding algebra of invariants is found. In particular, a generating system for the algebra of SO(n)-invariants of several matrices is constructed over a field of characteristic different from 2. The proof uses the reduction to semi-invariants of mixed representations of a quiver and the decomposition formula that generalizes Amitsur's formula for the determinant.
We introduce the notion of a super-representation of a quiver. For super-representations of quivers over a field of characteristic zero, we describe the corresponding (super)algebras of polynomial semi-invariants and polynomial invariants.
We use recent results on matrix semi-invariants to give degree bounds on generators for the ring of semi-invariants for quivers with no oriented cycles.
We give a new short proof of Skowronski and Weyman's theorem about the structure of the algebras of semi-invariants of Euclidean quivers, in the case of quivers without oriented cycles. Our proof is based essentially on Derksen and Weyman's result about the generators of these algebras and properties of Schofield semi-invariants.
In this paper we compute b-functions (or Bernstein-Sato polynomials) of various semi-invariants of quivers. The main tool is an explicit relation for the b-functions between semi-invariants that correspond to each other under reflection functors (or castling transforms). This enables us to compute recursively the b-functions for all Dynkin quivers, and extended Dynkin quivers with prehomogeneous dimension vectors.
We define and investigate algebraic torus actions on quiver Grassmannians for nilpotent representations of the equioriented cycle. Examples of such varieties are type $\tt A$ flag varieties, their linear degenerations, finite dimensional approximations of the $GL_n$-affine flag variety and affine Grassmannian. We show that these quiver Grassmannians, equipped with our torus action, are GKM-varieties and that their moment graph admits a combinatorial description in terms of coefficients quiver of the underlying quiver representations. By adapting to our setting results by Gonzales, we are able …
A pathway from one vertex of a quiver to another is a reduced path. We modify the classical definition of quiver representations and we prove that semi-invariant polynomials for filtered quiver representations come from diagonal entries if and only if the quiver has at most two pathways between any two vertices. Such class of quivers includes finite $ADE$-Dynkin quivers, affine $\widetilde{A}\widetilde{D}\widetilde{E}$-Dynkin quivers, star-shaped and comet-shaped quivers. Next, we explicitly write all semi-invariant generators for filtered quiver representations for framed quivers with at most…
It is well known that the ring of polynomial invariants of a reductive group is finitely generated. However, it is difficult to give strong upper bounds on the degrees of the generators, especially over fields of positive characteristic. In this paper, we make use of the theory of good filtrations along with recent results on the null cone to provide polynomial bounds for matrix semi-invariants in arbitrary characteristic, and consequently for matrix invariants. Our results generalize to invariants and semi-invariants of quivers.
Let $Q$ be a connected quiver with no oriented cycles, $k$ the field of complex numbers and $P$ a projective representation of $Q$. We study the adjoint action of the automorphism group $\Aut_{kQ} P$ on the space of radical endomorphisms $\radE_{kQ}P$. Using generic equivalence, we show that the quiver $Q$ has the property that there exists a dense open $\Aut_{kQ} P$-orbit in $\radE_{kQ} P$, for all projective representations $P$, if and only if $Q$ is a Dynkin quiver. This gives a new characterisation of Dynkin quivers.
Let $Q$ be a quiver with dimension vector $α$ prehomogeneous under the action of the product of general linear groups $\operatorname{GL}(α)$ on the representation variety $\operatorname{Rep}(Q,α)$. We study geometric properties of zero sets of semi-invariants of this space. It is known that for large numbers $N$, the nullcone in $\operatorname{Rep}(Q,N\cdot α)$ becomes a complete intersection. First, we show that it also becomes reduced. Then, using Bernstein-Sato polynomials, we discuss some criteria for zero sets to have rational singularities. In particular, we show that for Dynkin quivers …
Let $(Q,σ)$ be a symmetric quiver, where $Q=(Q_0,Q_1)$ is a finite quiver without oriented cycles and $σ$ is a contravariant involution on $Q_0\sqcup Q_1$. The involution allows us to define a nondegenerate bilinear form $<,>$ on a representation $V$ of $Q$. We shall call the representation orthogonal if $<,>$ is symmetric and symplectic if $<,>$ is skew-symmetric. Moreover we can define an action of products of classical groups on the space of orthogonal representations and on the space of symplectic representations. For symmetric quivers of finite type, we prove that the rings of semi-invari…
Let $G$ be a finite abelian group acting on a path algebra $kQ$ by permuting the vertices and preserving the arrowspans. Let $W$ be a potential on the quiver $Q$ which is fixed by the action. We study the skew group dg algebra $Γ_{Q, W}G$ of the Ginzburg dg algebra of $(Q, W)$. It is known that $Γ_{Q, W}G$ is Morita equivalent to another Ginzburg dg algebra $Γ_{Q_G, W_G}$, whose quiver $Q_G$ was constructed by Demonet. In this article we give an explicit construction of the potential $W_G$ as a linear combination of cycles in $Q_G$, and write the Morita equivalence explicitly. As a corollary, …
Let G denote either a special orthogonal group or a symplectic group defined over the complex numbers. We prove the following saturation result for G: given dominant weights λ^1, ..., λ^r such that the tensor product V_{Nλ^1} \otimes ... \otimes V_{Nλ^r} contains nonzero G-invariants for some N \ge 1, we show that the tensor product V_{2λ^1} \otimes ... \otimes V_{2λ^r} also contains nonzero G-invariants. This extends results of Kapovich-Millson and Belkale-Kumar and complements similar results for the general linear group due to Knutson-Tao and Derksen-Weyman. Our techniques involve the invar…
We introduce a new concept of mixed representations of quivers that is a generalization of ordinary representations of quivers and orthogonal (symplectic) representations of symmetric quivers introduced recently by Derksen and Weyman. We describe the generating invariants of mixed representations of quivers (First Fundamental Theorem) and prove additional results that allow us to describe the defining relations between them in the second article.
We derive a combinatorial formula for quantized Donaldson-Thomas invariants of the m-loop quiver. Our main tools are the combinatorics of noncommutative Hilbert schemes and a degenerate version of the Cohomological Hall algebra of this quiver.
We consider the cohomological Hall algebra Y of a Lagrangian substack of the moduli stack of representations of the preprojective algebra of an arbitrary quiver Q, and its actions on the cohomology of quiver varieties. We conjecture that Y is equal, after a suitable extension of scalars, to the Yangian introduced by Maulik and Okounkov, and we construct an embedding of Y in the Yangian, intertwining the respective actions of both algebras on the cohomology of quiver varieties.
In this work we obtain a version of the Procesi-Rasmyslov Theorem for the algebra of semi-invariants of representations of an arbitrary quiver with dimension vector (2,2,...,2).
We study the b-functions of relative invariants of the prehomogeneous vector spaces associated with quivers of type A. By applying the decomposition formula for b-functions, we determine explicitly the b-functions of one variable for each irreducible relative invariant. Moreover, we give a graphical algorithm to determine the b-functions of several variables.
We define a set of "enhanced" nilpotent quiver representations that generalizes the enhanced nilpotent cone. This set admits an action by an associated algebraic group $K$ with finitely many orbits. We define a combinatorial set that parametrizes the set of orbits under this action and we derive a purely combinatorial formula for the dimension of an orbit.
In this paper we give a simple description of DT-invariants of double quivers without potential as the multiplicity of the Steinberg character in some representation associated with the quiver. When the dimension vector is indivisible we use this description to express these DT-invariants as the Poincaré polynomial of some singular quiver varieties. Finally we explain the connections with previous work of Hausel-Letellier-Villegas where DT-invariants are expressed as the graded multiplicities of the trivial representation of some Weyl group in the cohomology of some non-singular quiver varieti…
We study an algebra spanned by modified Kostka polynomials. Particular structure coefficients of this algebra are interpreted as traces of some Weyl group actions on the intersection cohomology of comet-shaped quiver varieties.
A system of functional equations relating the Euler characteristics of moduli spaces of stable representations of quivers and the Euler characteristics of (Hilbert scheme-type) framed versions of quiver moduli is derived. This is applied to wall-crossing formulas for the Donaldson-Thomas type invariants of M. Kontsevich and Y. Soibelman, in particular confirming their integrality.
In the previous article we introduced the new concept of mixed representations of quivers and described the generators of their algebras of invariants. In this article we describe the defining relations of these algebras. Some applications for the invariants of orthogonal or symplectic groups acting on several matrices are given.
This paper is a survey on invariants of representations of quivers and their generalizations. We present the description of generating systems for invariants and relations between generators.
We study torus actions on moduli spaces of quivers. First we give a description of the weight spaces of the induced action of the tangent space to a torus-fixed point. Then we focus on actions of tori of rank one and derive an explicit form for the attractors in the Białynicki-Birula decomposition.
We study motivic Donaldson-Thomas invariants for a class of quivers with potentials using the strategy of Behrend, Bryan, and Szendroi. This class includes quivers with potentials arising from consistent brane tilings and quivers with zero potential. Our construction is an alternative to the constructions of Kontsevich and Soibelman. We construct an integration map from the equivariant Hall algebra to the quantum torus and show that our motivic Donaldson-Thomas invariants are images of the natural elements in the equivariant Hall algebra. We show that the inegration map is an algebra homomorph…
We present some theorems and algorithms for calculating perpendicular categories and locally semi-simple decompositions. We implemented a computer program {\sc TETIVA} based on these algorithms and we offer this program for everybody's use.
We show how quiver representations and their invariant theory natu- rally arise in the study of some moduli spaces parametrizing bundles dened on an algebraic curve, and how they lead to ne results regarding the geometry of these spaces.
We define derived equivalent invariants for gentle algebras, constructed in an easy combinatorial way from the quiver with relations defining these algebras. Our invariants consist of pairs of natural numbers and contain important information about the algebra and the structure of the stable Auslander-Reiten quiver of its repetitive algebra. As a by-product we obtain that the number of arrows of the quiver of a gentle algebra is invariant under derived equivalence. Finally, our invariants separate the derived equivalence classes of gentle algebras with at most one cycle.
In this paper we study the construction of holomorphic gauge invariant operators for general quiver gauge theories with flavour symmetries. Using a characterisation of the gauge invariants in terms of equivalence classes generated by permutation actions, along with representation theory results in symmetric groups and unitary groups, we give a diagonal basis for the 2-point functions of holomorphic and anti-holomorphic operators. This involves a generalisation of the previously constructed Quiver Restricted Schur operators to the flavoured case. The 3-point functions are derived and shown to b…
In previous work we equipped quiver Grassmannians for nilpotent representations of the equioriented cycle with an action of an algebraic torus. We show here that the equivariant cohomology ring is acted upon by a product of symmetric groups and we investigate this permutation action via GKM techniques. In the case of (type A) flag varieties, or Schubert varieties therein, we recover Tymoczko's results on permutation representations.
In this paper, we describe a categorical action of any Kac-Moody algebra on a category of quantized coherent sheaves on Nakajima quiver varieties. By "quantized coherent sheaves," we mean a category of sheaves of modules over a deformation quantization of the natural symplectic structure on quiver varieties. This action is a direct categorification of the geometric construction of universal enveloping algebras by Nakajima.
We use semi-invariant pictures to prove two conjectures about maximal green sequences. First: if $Q$ is any acyclic valued quiver with an arrow $j\to i$ of infinite type then any maximal green sequence for $Q$ must mutate at $i$ before mutating at $j$. Second: for any quiver $Q'$ obtained by mutating an acyclic valued quiver $Q$ of tame type, there are only finitely many maximal green sequences for $Q'$. Both statements follow from the Rotation Lemma for reddening sequences and this in turn follows from the Mutation Formula for the semi-invariant picture for $Q$.
We construct geometric categorical Lie algebra actions on the derived category of coherent sheaves on Nakajima quiver varieties. These actions categorify Nakajima's construction of Kac-Moody algebra representations on the K-theory of quiver varieties. We define an induced affine braid group action on these derived categories.
This paper studies the geometric and algebraic aspects of the moduli spaces of quivers of fence type. We first provide two quotient presentations of the quiver varieties and interpret their equivalence as a generalized Gelfand-MacPherson correspondence. Next, we introduce parabolic quivers and extend the above from the actions of reductive groups to the actions of parabolic subgroups. Interestingly, the above geometry finds its natural counterparts in the representation theory as the branching rules and transfer principle in the context of the reciprocity algebra. The last half of the paper es…
A quiver is an oriented graph. Quiver mutation is an elementary operation on quivers. It appeared in physics in Seiberg duality in the nineties and in mathematics in the definition of cluster algebras by Fomin-Zelevinsky in 2002. We show, for large classes of quivers Q, using quiver mutation and quantum dilogarithms, one can construct the combinatorial DT-invariant, a formal power series intrinsically associated with Q. When defined, it coincides with the "total" Donaldson-Thomas invariant of Q (with a generic potential) provided by algebraic geometry (work of Joyce, Kontsevich-Soibelman, Szen…
We investigate the generalized Kronecker algebra $\mathcal{K}_r = kΓ_r$ with $r \geq 3$ arrows. Given a regular component $\mathcal{C}$ of the Auslander-Reiten quiver of $\mathcal{K}_r$, we show that the quasi-rank $rk(\mathcal{C}) \in \mathbb{Z}_{\leq 1}$ can be described almost exactly as the distance $\mathcal{W}(\mathcal{C}) \in \mathbb{N}_0$ between two non-intersecting cones in $\mathcal{C}$, given by modules with the equal images and the equal kernels property; more precisley, we show that the two numbers are linked by the inequality \[ -\mathcal{W}(\mathcal{C}) \leq rk(\mathcal{C}) \le…
The semi-stable ChowHa of a quiver with stability is defined as an analog of the Cohomological Hall algebra of Kontsevich and Soibelman via convolution in equivariant Chow groups of semi-stable loci in representation varieties of quivers. We prove several structural results on the semi-stable ChowHa, namely isomorphism of the cycle map, a tensor product decomposition, and a tautological presentation. For symmetric quivers, this leads to an identification of their quantized Donaldson-Thomas invariants with the Chow-Betti numbers of moduli spaces.
We prove that the generating functions for the colored HOMFLY-PT polynomials of rational links are specializations of the generating functions of the motivic Donaldson-Thomas invariants of appropriate quivers that we naturally associate with these links. This shows that the conjectural links-quivers correspondence of Kucharski-Reineke-Stošić-Sułkowski as well as the LMOV conjecture hold for rational links. Along the way, we extend the links-quivers correspondence to tangles and, thus, explore elements of a skein theory for motivic Donaldson-Thomas invariants.
We study the action of $S_n$ on the set of break divisors on complete multigraphs $K_{n}^m$. We provide an alternative characterization for these divisors, by virtue of which we show that orbits of this action are enumerated by the numerical Donaldson-Thomas invariants of $(m+1)$-loop quivers. Our characterization also allows us to restrict this action to $S_{n-1}$ and we identify the resulting $S_{n-1}$-module as that afforded by $K_n^m$-parking functions.
This is my PhD thesis supervised by Professor Jerzy Weyman. A symmetric quiver $(Q,σ)$ is a finite quiver without oriented cycles $Q=(Q_0,Q_1)$ equipped with a contravariant involution $σ$ on $Q_0\sqcup Q_1$. The involution allows us to define a nondegenerate bilinear form $<,>$ on a representation $V$ of $Q$. We shall say that $V$ is orthogonal if $<,>$ is symmetric and symplectic if $<,>$ is skew-symmetric. Moreover we define an action of products of classical groups on the space of orthogonal representations and on the space of symplectic representations. So we prove that if $(Q,σ)$ is a sy…
We prove the equivalence of (a slightly modified version of) the wall-crossing formula of Manschot, Pioline and Sen and the wall-crossing formula of Kontsevich and Soibelman. The former involves abelian analogues of the motivic Donaldson-Thomas type invariants of quivers with stability introduced by Kontsevich and Soibelman, for which we derive positivity and geometricity properties.
The main result of this paper is the statement that the Hodge theoretic Donaldson-Thomas invariant for a quiver with zero potential and a generic stability condition agrees with the compactly supported intersection cohomology of the closure of the stable locus inside the associated coarse moduli space of semistable quiver representations. In fact, we prove an even stronger result relating the Donaldson-Thomas "function" to the intersection complex. The proof of our main result relies on a relative version of the integrality conjecture in Donaldson-Thomas theory. This will be the topic of the s…
Moreover, we define an action of products of classical groups on the space of orthogonal representations and on the space of symplectic representations. So we prove that if $(Q,σ)$ is a symmetric quiver of tame type then the rings of semi-invarian…
In this paper, we view matrix frames as representations of quivers and study them within the general framework of quiver invariant theory. We are thus led to consider the large class of semi-stable matrix frames. Within this class, we are particularly interested in radial isotropic and Parseval matrix frames. Using methods from quiver invariant theory [CD19], we first prove a far reaching generalization of Barthe's Radial Isotropy Theorem [Bar98] to matrix frames (see Theorems 1(3) and 29). With this tool at our disposal, we provide a quiver invariant theoretic approach to the Paulsen problem …
We give a cohomological interpretation of both the Kac polynomial and the refined Donaldson-Thomas- invariants of quivers. This interpretation yields a proof of a conjecture of Kac from 1982 and gives a new perspective on recent work of Kontsevich-Soibelman. This is achieved by computing, via an arithmetic Fourier transform, the dimensions of the isoytpical components of the cohomology of associated Nakajima quiver varieties under the action of a Weyl group. The generating function of the corresponding Poincaré polynomials is an extension of Hua's formula for Kac polynomials of quivers involvi…
The notion of mixed representations of quivers can be derived from ordinary quiver representations by considering the dual action of groups on "vertex" vector spaces together with the usual action. A generating system for the algebra of semi-invariants of mixed representations of a quiver is determined. This is done by reducing the problem to the case of bipartite quivers of the special form and by introducing a function DP on three matrices, which is a mixture of the determinant and two pfaffians.
In his paper \cite{MR1}, Markus Reineke proposed a conjecture that there exists a stable weight system $Θ$ for every indecomposable representation of Dynkin type quiver. In this paper, we showed this conjecture is true for quivers of $A_n$-type by combinatorial construction of a special weight system. We also reinterpret this weight system in terms of semi-invariant theory.
A large class of N=2 quantum field theories admits a BPS quiver description and the study of their BPS spectra is then reduced to a representation theory problem. In such theories the coupling to a line defect can be modelled by framed quivers. The associated spectral problem characterises the line defect completely. Framed BPS states can be thought of as BPS particles bound to the defect. We identify the framed BPS degeneracies with certain enumerative invariants associated with the moduli spaces of stable quiver representations. We develop a formalism based on equivariant localization to com…
We prove the flow tree formula conjectured by Alexandrov and Pioline which computes Donaldson-Thomas invariants of quivers with potentials in terms of a smaller set of attractor invariants. This result is obtained as a particular case of a more general flow tree formula reconstructing a consistent scattering diagram from its initial walls.
Let $\mathfrak g$ be a complex simple Lie algebra and let $Ψ$ be an extremal set of positive roots. One associates with $Ψ$ an infinite dimensional Koszul algebra $\bold S_Ψ^{\lie g}$ which is a graded subalgebra of the locally finite part of $((\bold V)^{op}\tensor S(\lie g))^{\lie g}$, where $\bold V$ is the direct sum of all simple finite dimensional $\lie g$-modules. We describe the structure of the algebra $\bold S_Ψ^{\lie g}$ explicitly in terms of an infinite quiver with relations for $\lie g$ of types $A$ and $C$. We also describe several infinite families of quivers and finite dimensi…
A minimal (by inclusion) generating set for the algebra of semi-invariants of a quiver of dimension (2,...,2) is established over an infinite field of arbitrary characteristic. The mentioned generating set consists of the determinants of generic matrices and the traces of tree paths of pairwise different multidegrees, where in the case of characteristic different from two we take only admissible paths. As a consequence, we describe relations modulo decomposable semi-invariants.
An upper bound on degrees of elements of a minimal generating system for invariants of quivers of dimension (2,...,2) is established over a field of arbitrary characteristic and its precision is estimated. The proof is based on the reduction to the problem of description of maximal paths satisfying certain condition.
