Let $H$ be a subgroup of a group $G$. The permutizer $P_G(H)$ is the subgroup generated by all cyclic subgroups of $G$ which permute with $H$. A subgroup $H$ of a group $G$ is strongly permutable in $G$ if $P_U(H)=U$ for every subgroup $U$ of $G$ such that~$H\le U\le G$. We investigate groups with $\mathbb{P}$-subnormal or strongly permutable Sylow and primary cyclic subgroups. The generalised Fitting subgroup of a finite group is the group generated by all subnormal subgroups that are either nilpotent or quasisimple. The importance of this subgroup in finite group theory stems from the fact that it always contains its own centraliser, so that any finite group is an abelian extension of a group of automorphisms of its generalised Fitting subgroup. We define a class of profinite groups which generalises this phenomenon, and explore some consequences for the structure of profinite groups.

This paper extends previous results, known only for parabolic subgroups of finite type Artin groups, to parabolic subgroups of FC type Artin groups. We partly generalize the estimate for the rank of intersection of subgroups in free products of groups, proved earlier by S.V.Ivanov and W.Dicks, to the case of free amalgamated products of groups with normal finite amalgamated subgroup. We also prove that the obtained estimate is sharp and cannot be further improved when the amalgamated product contains an involution.

We study subgroups and quotients of outer automorphism groups of right-angled Artin groups (RAAGs). We prove that for all RAAGS, the outer automorphism group is residually finite and, for a large class of RAAGs, it satisfies the Tits alternative.
