We apply the crystal basis theory for Fock spaces over quantum affine algebras to the modular representations of the cyclotomic Hecke algebras of type $G(p,p,n)$. This yields a classification of simple modules over these cyclotomic Hecke algebras in the non-separated case, generalizing our previous work [J. Hu, J. Algebra 267 (2003) 7-20]. The separated case was completed in [J. Hu, J. Algebra 274 (2004) 446--490]. Furthermore, we use Naito--Sagaki's work [S. Naito & D. Sagaki, J. Algebra 251 (2002) 461--474] on Lakshmibai--Seshadri paths fixed by diagram automorphisms to derive explicit formulas for the number of simple modules over these Hecke algebras. These formulas generalize earlier results of [M. Geck, Represent. Theory 4 (2000) 370-397] on the Hecke algebras of type $D_n$ (i.e., of type $G(2,2,n)$).
In the previous paper "Symmetric Crystals and Affine Hecke Algebras of Type B", we formulated a conjecture on the relations between certain classes of irreducible representations of affine Hecke algebras of type B and symmetric crystals for $\gl_\infty$. In the first half of this paper (sections 2 and 3), we give a survey of the LLTA type theorem of the affine Hecke algebra of type $A$. In the latter half (sections 4, 5 and 6), we review the construction of the symmetric crystals and the LLTA type conjectures for the affine Hecke algebra of type $B$.
The Lascoux-Leclerc-Thibon-Ariki theory asserts that the K-group of the representations of the affine Hecke algebras of type A is isomorphic to the algebra of functions on the maximal unipotent subgroup of the group associated with a Lie algebra $g$ where $g$ is $gl_\infty$ or the affine Lie algebra $A^{(1)}_\ell$, and the irreducible representations correspond to the upper global bases. Recently, N. Enomoto and the first author presented the notion of symmetric crystals and formulated analogous conjectures for the affine Hecke algebras of type B. In this note, we present similar conjectures f…
The Lascoux-Leclerc-Thibon conjecture, reformulated and solved by S. Ariki, asserts that the K-group of the representations of the affine Hecke algebras of type A is isomorphic to the algebra of functions on the maximal unipotent subgroup of the group associated with the Lie algebra $gl_\infty$ or the affine Lie algebra $A^{(1)}_\ell$, and the irreducible representations correspond to the upper global bases. In this note, we formulate analogous conjectures for certain classes of irreducible representations of affine Hecke algebras of type B. We corrected typos.
Brundan and Kleshchev showed that some parts of the representation theory of the affine Hecke-Clifford superalgebras and its finite-dimensional "cyclotomic" quotients are controlled by the Lie theory of type $A^{(2)}_{2l}$ when the quantum parameter $q$ is a primitive $(2l+1)$-th root of unity. We show in this paper that similar theorems hold when $q$ is a primitive $4l$-th root of unity by replacing the Lie theory of type $A^{(2)}_{2l}$ with that of type $D^{(2)}_{l}$.
We define the i-restriction and i-induction functors on the category O of the cyclotomic rational double affine Hecke algebras. This yields a crystal on the set of isomorphism classes of simple modules, which is isomorphic to the crystal of a Fock space.
This paper provides a combinatorial dictionary between three sets of objects: Bernstein-Zelevinsky multisegments, Kleshchev multipartitions, and the irreducible modules of the affine Hecke algebra $H_n$ (for generic $q$). In particular, we compute the action of the crystal operator $\tilde{e}_i$ (a refinement of socle of Restriction) on an irreducible module both in terms of its parameterization by multisegments and by multipartitions. In other words, we give explicit crystal graph isomorphisms. A byproduct is the determination of which multisegments parameterize modules of the {\it cyclotomic…
We use the crystal isomorphisms of the Fock space to describe two maps on partitions and multipartitions which naturally appear in the crystal basis theory for quantum groups in affine type A and in the representation theory of Hecke algebras of type G(l, l, n).
Ian Grojnowski has developed a purely algebraic way to connect the representation theory of affine Hecke algebras at an (l+1)-th root of unity to the highest weight theory of the affine Kac-Moody algebra of type A_l^(1). The present article is devoted to extending Grojnowski's machinery to the twisted case: we replace the affine Hecke algebras with the affine Hecke-Clifford superalgebras of Jones and Nazarov, and the Kac-Moody algebra A_l^(1) with the twisted algebra A_2l^(2). In particular, we obtain an algebraic construction purely in terms of the representation theory of Hecke-Clifford supe…
This paper is a report on a computer check of some positivity properties of the Hecke algebra in type H4, including the non-negativity of the coefficients of the structure constants in the Kazhdan-Lusztig basis. This answers a long-standing question of Lusztig's. The same algorithm, carried out by hand, also allows us to deal with the case of dihedral Coxeter groups.
This paper makes precise the close connection between the affine Hecke algebra, the path model, and the theory of crystals. Section 2 is a basic pictorial exposition of Weyl groups and affine Weyl groups and Section 5 is an exposition of the theory of (a) symmetric functions, (b) crystals and (c) the path model. Sections 3 and 4 give an exposition of the affine Hecke algebra and recent results regarding the combinatorics of spherical functions on p-adic groups (Hall-Littlewood polynomials). The $q$-analogue of the theory of crystals developed in Section 4 specializes to the path model version …
These are lecture notes prepared for London Mathematical Society Symposium "Quantum Groups" held in Durham 19-29 July 1999. We give a survey on cyclotomic Hecke algebras. These algebras have been studied by Dipper, James, Malle, Mathas and the author. In lecture one, we start with definitions. We then go on to Specht module theory of cyclotomic Hecke algebras constructed by Dipper, James and Mathas. In lecture two, we explain Ginzburg and Lusztig's theory on affine Hecke algebras and its application to cyclotomic Hecke algebras due to the author. As Kazhdan-Lusztig bases of Hecke algebras desc…
Let $\ell\in\mathbb{N}$ with $\ell>2$ and $I:=\mathbb{Z}/2\ell\mathbb{Z}$. In this paper we give a new realization of the crystal of affine $\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_{\ell}$ using the modular representation theory of the affine Hecke algebras $H_n$ of type $A$ and their level two cyclotomic quotients with Hecke parameter being a primitive $2\ell$th root of unity. We realized the Kashiwara operators for the crystal as the functors of taking socle of certain two-steps restriction and of taking head of certain two-steps induction. For any finite dimensional irreducible $H_n$-module $M$, we prove t…
In the recent papers with Masaki Kashiwara, the author introduced the notion of symmetric crystals and presented the Lascoux-Leclerc-Thibon-Ariki type conjectures for the affine Hecke algebras of type $B$. Namely, we conjectured that certain composition multiplicities and branching rules for the affine Hecke algebras of type $B$ are described by using the lower global basis of symmetric crystals of $V_θ(λ)$. In this paper, we prove the existence of crystal bases and global bases of $V_θ(0)$ for any symmetric quantized Kac-Moody algebra by using a geometry of quivers (with a Dynkin diagram invo…
These are notes prepared for ICRA workshop at Torun, Poland, August 2007. In the first part, we explain results on canonical basic sets by Geck and Jacon and propose a categorification framework which is suitable for our example of Hecke algebras. In the second part, we review basics of Kashiwara crystal and explain the Fock space theory of cyclotomic Hecke algebras and its applications. In the third part, we explain Rouquier's theory of quasihereditary covers of cyclotomic Hecke algebras. We add detailed explanation of the proofs here. The third part is based on my intensive course given at N…
The following thesis contains results on the combinatorial representation theory of the finite Hecke algebra $H_n(q)$. In Chapter 2 simple combinatorial descriptions are given which determine when a Specht module corresponding to a partition $λ$ is irreducible. This is done by extending the results of James and Mathas. These descriptions depend on the crystal of the basic representation of the affine Lie algebra $\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}_\ell}$. In Chapter 3 these results are extended to determine which irreducible modules have a realization as a Specht module. To do this, a new condition of irr…
In this paper we prove theorems that describe how the representation theory of the affine Hecke algebra of type A and of related algebras such as the group algebra of the symmetric group are controlled by integrable highest weight representations of the characteristic zero affine Lie algebra \hat{sl}_l. In particular we parameterise the representations of these algebras by the nodes of the crystal graph, and give various Hecke theoretic descriptions of the edges. As a consequence we find for each prime p a basis of the integrable representations of \hat{sl}_l which shares many of the remarkabl…
As shown by Stembridge, crystal graphs can be characterized by their local behavior. In this paper, we observe that a certain local property on highest weight crystals forces a more global property. In type $A$, this statement says that if a node has a single parent and single grandparent, then there is a unique walk from the highest weight node to it. In other classical types, there is a similar (but necessarily more technical) statement. This walk is obtained from the associated level 1 perfect crystal, $B^{1,1}$. (It is unique unless the Dynkin diagram contains that of $D_4$ as a subdiagram…
In this paper, we will fully describe the representations of the crystallographic rank two affine Hecke algebras using elementary methods, for all possible values of q. The focus is on the case when q is a root of unity of small order.
We introduce a generalization of degenerate affine Hecke algebra, called wreath Hecke algebra, associated to an arbitrary finite group G. The simple modules of the wreath Hecke algebra and of its associated cyclotomic algebras are classified over an algebraically closed field of any characteristic p. The modular branching rules for these algebras are obtained, and when p does not divide the order of G, they are further identified with crystal graphs of integrable modules for quantum affine algebras. The key is to establish an equivalence between a module category of the (cyclotomic) wreath Hec…
This is an expository article. We survey some fundamental trends in representation theory of symmetric groups and related objects which became apparent in the last fifteen years. The emphasis is on connections with Lie theory via categorification. We present results on branching rules and crystal graphs, decomposition numbers and canonical bases, graded representation theory, connections with cyclotomic and affine Hecke algebras, Khovanov-Lauda-Rouquier algebras, category ${\mathcal O}$, $W$-algebras, ...
We prove a conjecture by Dipper, James and Murphy that a bipartition is restricted if and only if it is Kleshchev. Hence the restricted bipartitions naturally label the crystal graphs of level two irreducible integrable $\mathcal{U}_v({\hat{\mathfrak{sl}}_e})$-modules and the simple modules of Hecke algebras of type $B_n$.
We give a simple description of the natural bijection between the set of FLOTW bipartitions and the set of Uglov bipartitions (which generalizes the set of Kleshchev bipartitions). These bipartitions, which label the crystal graphs of irreducible $\mathcal{U}\_v({\hat{\mathfrak{sl}}\_e})$-modules of level two, naturally appear in the context of the modular representation theory of Hecke algebras of type $B\_n$.
We develop a new approach for the computation of the Mullineux involution for the symmetric group and its Hecke algebra using the notion of crystal isomorphism and the Iwahori-Matsumoto involution for the affine Hecke algebra of type A. As a consequence, we obtain several new elementary combinatorial algorithms for its computation, one of which is equivalent to Xu's algorithm (and thus Mullineux' original algorithm). We thus obtain a simple interpretation of these algorithms and a new elementary proof that they indeed compute the Mullineux involution.
We clarify the links between the graded Specht construction of modules over cyclotomic Hecke algebras and the RSK construction for quiver Hecke algebras of type A, that was recently imported from the setting of representations of p-adic groups. For that goal we develop a theory of crystal derivative operators on quiver Hecke algebra modules, that categorifies the Berenstein-Zelevinsky strings framework on quantum groups, and generalizes a graded variant of the classical Bernstein-Zelevinsky derivatives from the p-adic setting. Graded cyclotomic decomposition numbers are shown to be a special s…
We explore the modular representation theory of affine and cyclotomic Yokonuma-Hecke algebras. We provide an equivalence between the category of finite dimensional representations of the affine (resp. cyclotomic) Yokonuma-Hecke algebra and that of an algebra which is a direct sum of tensor products of affine Hecke algebras of type $A$ (resp. Ariki-Koike algebras). As one of the applications, the irreducible representations of affine and cyclotomic Yokonuma-Hecke algebras are classified over an algebraically closed field of characteristic $p$. Secondly, the modular branching rules for these alg…
We describe a positive characteristic analogue of the Kazhdan-Lusztig basis of the Hecke algebra of a crystallographic Coxeter system and investigate some of its properties. Using Soergel calculus we describe an algorithm to calculate this basis. We outline some known or expected applications in modular representation theory. We conclude by giving several examples.
We explore combinatorics associated with the degenerate Hecke algebra at $q=0$, obtaining a formula for a system of orthogonal idempotents, and also exploring various pattern avoidance results. Generalizing constructions for the 0-Hecke algebra, we explore the representation theory of $\JJ$-trivial monoids. We then discuss two-tensors of crystal bases for $U_q(\tilde{\mathfrak{sl}_2})$, establishing a complementary result to one of Bandlow, Schilling, and Thiéry on affine crystals arising from promotion operators. Finally, we give a computer implementation of Stembridge's local axioms for simp…
We first describe how the Kashiwara involution on crystals of affine type $A$ is encoded by the combinatorics of aperiodic multisegments. This yields a simple relation between this involution and the Zelevinsky involution on the set of simple modules for the affine Hecke algebras. We then give efficient procedures for computing these involutions. Remarkably, these procedures do not use the underlying crystal structure. They also permit to match explicitly the Ginzburg and Ariki parametrizations of the simple modules associated to affine and cyclotomic Hecke algebras, respectively .
For any reduced crystallographic root system, we introduce a unitary representation of the (extended) affine Hecke algebra given by discrete difference-reflection operators acting in a Hilbert space of complex functions on the weight lattice. It is shown that the action of the center under this representation is diagonal on the basis of Macdonald spherical functions. As an application, we compute an explicit Pieri formula for these spherical functions.
Hecke-Hopf algebras were defined by A. Berenstein and D. Kazhdan. We give an explicit presentation of an Hecke-Hopf algebra when the parameter $m_{ij},$ associated to any two distinct vertices $i$ and $j$ in the presentation of a Coxeter group, equals $4,$ $5$ or $6$. As an application, we give a proof of a conjecture of Berenstein and Kazhdan when the Coxeter group is crystallographic and non-simply-laced. As another application, we show that another conjecture of Berenstein and Kazhdan holds when $m_{ij},$ associated to any two distinct vertices $i$ and $j,$ equals $4$ and that the conjectur…
In this paper, we investigate a connection between convolution products for quiver Hecke algebras and tensor products for quantum groups. We give a categorification of the natural projection $ π_{λ, μ} : V_{\mathbb{A}}(λ)^\vee \otimes_{\mathbb{A}} V_\mathbb{A}(μ)^\vee \twoheadrightarrow V_\mathbb{A}(λ+ μ)^\vee $ sending the tensor product of the highest weight vectors to the highest weight vector in terms of convolution products. When the quiver Hecke algebra is symmetric and the base field is of characteristic $0$, we obtain a positivity condition on some coefficients associated with the proj…
Let $(W, I)$ be a finite Coxeter group. In the case where $W$ is a Weyl group, Berenstein and Kazhdan in \cite{BK} constructed a monoid structure on the set of all subsets of $I$ using unipotent $χ$-linear bicrystals. In this paper, we will generalize this result to all types of finite Coxeter groups (including non-crystallographic types). Our approach is more elementary, based on some combinatorics of Coxeter groups. Moreover, we will calculate this monoid structure explicitly for each type.
We take some initial steps towards illuminating the (hypothetical) $p$-adic local Langlands functoriality principle relating Galois representations of a $p$-adic field $L$ and admissible unitary Banach space representations of $G(L)$ when $G$ is a split reductive group over $L$. The outline of our work is derived from Breuil's remarkable insights into the nature of the correspondence between 2-dimensional crystalline Galois representations of the Galois group of $\Qdss_p$ and Banach space representations of $GL_{2}(\Qdss_p)$.
Let $\bH$ be the generic Iwahori--Hecke algebra associated with a finite Coxeter group $W$. Recently, we have shown that $\bH$ admits a natural cellular basis in the sense of Graham--Lehrer, provided that $W$ is a Weyl group and all parameters of $\bH$ are equal. The construction involves some data arising from the Kazhdan--Lusztig basis $\{\bC_w\}$ of $\bH$ and Lusztig's asymptotic ring $\bJ$. This article attemps to study $\bJ$ and its representation theory from a new point of view. We show that $\bJ$ can be obtained in an entirely different fashion from the generic representations of $\bH$,…
Based on a recent result of Mathas and the author, we prove that Uno's conjecture on representation types of Hecke algebras is true for all Hecke algebras of classical type.
By Tits' deformation argument, a generic Iwahori--Hecke algebra $H$ associated to a finite Coxeter group $W$ is abstractly isomorphic to the group algebra of $W$. Lusztig has shown how one can construct an explicit isomorphism, provided that the Kazhdan--Lusztig basis of $H$ satisfies certain deep properties. If $W$ is crystallographic and $H$ is a one-parameter algebra, then these properties are known to hold thanks to a geometric interpretation. In this paper, we develop some new general methods for verifying these properties, and we do verify them for two-parameter algebras of type $I_2(m)$…
We show that a vertex in the reduced crystal is i-external for a residue i if the defect is less than the absolute value of the i-component of the hub. We demonstrate the existence of a bound on the degree after which all vertices of a given defect d are external in at least one i-string. Combining this with the Chuang-Rouquier categorification for the simple modules of the cyclotomic Hecke algebras of type A and rank e, this would imply a version of Donovan's Conjecture for the cyclotomics. For e=2, we calculate an approximation to this bound.
We study a class of representations called ``calibrated representations'' of the degenerate double affine Hecke algebra and those of the rational Cherednik algebra of type ${\mathrm{GL}}_n$. We give a realization of calibrated irreducible modules as spaces of coinvariants constructed from integrable modules over the affine Lie algebra $\hat{\mathfrak{gl}}_m$. Moreover, we give a character formula of these irreducible modules in terms of a level-restricted Kostka polynomials. These results were conjectured by Arakawa, Suzuki and Tsuchiya based on the conformal field theory. The proofs using rec…
Using norms, the second author constructed a basis for the centre of the Hecke algebra of the symmetric group over $\Q[ξ]$ in 1990. An integral "minimal" basis was later given by the first author in 1999, following work of Geck and Rouquier. In principle one can then write elements of the norm basis as integral linear combinations of minimal basis elements. In this paper we find an explicit non-recursive expression for the coefficients appearing in these linear combinations. These coefficients are expressed in terms of readily computable numbers involving orders of symmetric groups and conjuga…
For symmetric groups we show that the p-canonical basis can be extended to a cell datum for the Iwahori-Hecke algebra H and that the two-sided p-cell preorder coincides with the Kazhdan-Lusztig two-sided cell preorder. Moreover, we show that left (or right) p-cells inside the same two-sided p-cell for Hecke algebras of finite crystallographic Coxeter systems are incomparable (Property A).
In this paper we propose a new approach to tilting modules for reductive algebraic groups in positive characteristic. We conjecture that translation functors give an action of the (diagrammatic) Hecke category of the affine Weyl group on the principal block. Our conjecture implies character formulas for the simple and tilting modules in terms of the p-canonical basis, as well as a description of the principal block as the anti-spherical quotient of the Hecke category. We prove our conjecture for GL_n using the theory of 2-Kac-Moody actions. Finally, we prove that the diagrammatic Hecke categor…
We build representations of the affine and double affine braid groups and Hecke algebras of type $C^\vee C_n$, based upon the theory of quantum symmetric pairs $(U,B)$. In the case $U=U_q(gl_N)$, our constructions provide a quantization of the representations constructed by Etingof, Freund and Ma in arXiv:0801.1530, and also a type $BC$ generalization of the results in arXiv:0805.2766.
We define an imbedding of the Hecke algebra module carried by the involutions in a Weyl group W (defined by the author and Vogan) into a completion of the Hecke algebra. An analogous result is proved for any Coxeter group. A variant of the construction gives an imbedding of the biregular representation of a Hecke algebra of W in a completion of the Hecke algebra of W^2.
A criterion of irreducibility for induction products of evaluation modules of type A affine Hecke algebras is given. It is derived from multiplicative properties of the canonical basis of a quantum deformation of the Bernstein-Zelevinsky ring.
For the quiver Hecke algebra $R$ associated with a simple Lie algebra, let $R$-gmod be the category of finite-dimensional graded $R$-modules. It is well-known that it categorifies the unipotent quantum coordinate ring. The localization of $R$-gmod has been defined in [12]. Its Grothendieck ring defines the localized (unipotent) quantum coordinate ring. We shall give a certain crystal structure on the localized quantum coordinate ring by regarding the set of self-dual simple objects in localized $R$-gmod. We also give the isomorphism of crystals to the cellular crystal for an arbitrary reduced …
We prove a conjecture of Kashiwara and Miemietz on canonical bases and branching rules of affine Hecke algebras of type D. The proof is similar to the proof of the type B case.
We prove a series of conjectures of Enomoto and Kashiwara on canonical bases and branching rules of affine Hecke algebras of type B. The main ingredient of the proof is a new graded Ext-algebra associated with quiver with involutions that we compute explicitly.
We introduce some modified forms for the degenerate and non-degenerate affine Hecke algebras of type $A$. These are certain subalgebras living inside the inverse limit of cyclotomic Hecke algebras. We construct faithful representations and standard bases for these algebras and give some explicit description of their centers. We show that there are algebra isomorphisms between some generalized Ore localizations of these modified affine Hecke algebras and of the quiver Hecke algebras of type $A$. As an application, we show that the center conjecture for the cyclotomic quiver Hecke algebra of typ…
Let $\{B(Λ_m)|m\in\Z/e\Z\}$ be the set of level one $\mathfrak{g}(A^{(1)}_{e-1})$-crystals, and consider the realization of $B(Λ_m)$ using $e$-restricted partitions. We prove a purely Young diagrammatic criterion for an element of $B(Λ_0)^{\otimes d_1}\otimes B(Λ_m)^{\otimes d_2}$ to be in the component $B(d_1Λ_0+d_2Λ_m)$. As an application, we give a non-recursive characterization of simple modules of the Hecke algebra of type $B$. In the course of the proof, we also obtain a combinatorial description of the second type of Kashiwara's Demazure crystal in $B(Λ_m)$.
In this article, we define and study the affine and cyclotomic Yokonuma-Hecke algebras. These algebras generalise at the same time the Ariki-Koike and affine Hecke algebras and the Yokonuma-Hecke algebras. We study the representation theory of these algebras and construct several bases for them. We then show how we can define Markov traces on them, which we in turn use to construct invariants for framed and classical knots in the solid torus. Finally, we study the Markov trace with zero parameters on the cyclotomic Yokonuma-Hecke algebras and determine the Schur elements with respect to that t…
Let X be the group of weights of a maximal torus of a simply connected semisimple group over C and let W be the Weyl group. The semidirect product W(Q\otimes X/X) is called the extended Weyl group. There is a natural C(v)-algebra H called the extended Hecke algebra with basis indexed by the extended Weyl group which contains the usual Hecke algebra as a subalgebra. We construct an H-module with basis indexed by the involutions in the extended Weyl group. This generalizes a construction of the author and D.Vogan.
A new class of algebras have been introduced by Khovanov and Lauda and independently by Rouquier. These algebras categorify one-half of the Quantum group associated to arbitrary Cartan data. In this paper, we use the combinatorics of Lyndon words to construct the irreducible representations of those algebras associated to Cartan data of finite type. This completes the classification of simple modules for the quiver Hecke algebra initiated by Kleshchev and Ram.
An approach, based on Jucys--Murphy elements, to the representation theory of cyclotomic Hecke algebras is developed. The maximality (in the cyclotomic Hecke algebra) of the set of the Jucys--Murphy elements is established. A basis of the cyclotomic Hecke algebra is suggested; this basis is used to establish the flatness of the deformation without use of the representation theory.
We construct characteristic-free bases and BGG resolutions of unitary simple modules of quiver Hecke algebras and Cherednik algebras. We hence solve and vastly generalise Berkesch-Griffeth-Sam's conjecture, calculate the Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity of ideals of of certain highly symmetric linear subspace arrangements, and compute Dirac homology of Cherednik algebras.
We introduce a commutative associative graded algebra structure on the direct sum Z of the centers of the Hecke algebras associated to the symmetric groups in n letters for all n. As a natural deformation of the classical construction of Frobenius, we establish an algebra isomorphism from the algebra Z to the ring of symmetric functions. This isomorphism provides an identification between several distinguished bases for the centers (introduced by Geck-Rouquier, Jones, Lascoux) and explicit bases of symmetric functions.
