Let $\bH$ be the generic Iwahori--Hecke algebra associated with a finite Coxeter group $W$. Recently, we have shown that $\bH$ admits a natural cellular basis in the sense of Graham--Lehrer, provided that $W$ is a Weyl group and all parameters of $\bH$ are equal. The construction involves some data arising from the Kazhdan--Lusztig basis $\{\bC_w\}$ of $\bH$ and Lusztig's asymptotic ring $\bJ$. This article attemps to study $\bJ$ and its representation theory from a new point of view. We show that $\bJ$ can be obtained in an entirely different fashion from the generic representations of $\bH$, without any reference to $\{\bC_w\}$. Then we can extend the construction of the cellular basis to the case where $W$ is not crystallographic. Furthermore, if $\bH$ is a multi-parameter algebra, we will see that there always exists at least one cellular structure on $\bH$. Finally, one may also hope that the new construction of $\bJ$ can be extended to Hecke algebras associated to complex reflection groups.
We study geometric representations of GL(n,R) for a ring R. The structure of the associated Hecke algebras is analyzed and shown to be cellular. Multiplicities of the irreducible constituents of these representations are linked to the embedding problem of pairs of R-modules x < y.
Let $\cH$ be the one-parameter Hecke algebra associated to a finite Weyl group $W$, defined over a ground ring in which ``bad'' primes for $W$ are invertible. Using deep properties of the Kazhdan--Lusztig basis of $\cH$ and Lusztig's $\ba$-function, we show that $\cH$ has a natural cellular structure in the sense of Graham and Lehrer. Thus, we obtain a general theory of ``Specht modules'' for Hecke algebras of finite type. Previously, a general cellular structure was only known to exist in types $A_n$ and $B_n$.
We establish an explicit algebra isomorphism between the affine Yokonuma-Hecke algebra $\widehat{Y}_{r,n}(q)$ and a direct sum of matrix algebras with coefficients in tensor products of affine Hecke algebras of type $A.$ As an application of this result, we show that $\widehat{Y}_{r,n}(q)$ is affine cellular in the sense of Koenig and Xi, and further prove that it has finite global dimension when the parameter $q$ is not a root of the Poincaré polynomial. As another application, we also recover the modular representation theory of $\widehat{Y}_{r,n}(q)$ previously obtained in [CW].
We first give a direct proof of a basis theorem for the cyclotomic Yokonuma-Hecke algebra $Y_{r,n}^{d}(q).$ Our approach follows Kleshchev's, which does not use the representation theory of $Y_{r,n}^{d}(q),$ and so it is very different from that of [ChP2]. We also present two applications. Then we prove that the cyclotomic Yokonuma-Hecke algebra $Y_{r,n}^{d}(q)$ is cellular by constructing an explicit cellular basis, and show that the Jucys-Murphy elements for $Y_{r,n}^{d}(q)$ are JM-elements in the abstract sense. In the appendix, we shall develop the fusion procedure for $Y_{r,n}^{d}(q).$
A new basis of the $q$-Brauer algebra is introduced, which is a lift of Murphy bases of Hecke algebras of symmetric groups. This basis is a cellular basis in the sense of Graham and Lehrer. Subsequently, using combinatorial language we prove that the non-isomorphic simple $q$-Brauer modules are indexed by the $e(q^2)$-restricted partitions of $n-2k$ where $k$ is an integer, $0 \le k \le [n/2]$. When the $q$-Brauer algebra has low-dimension a criterion of semisimplicity is given, which is used to show that the $q$-Brauer algebra is in general not isomorphic to the BMW-algebra.}

On overview of Coxeter groups $W$, their Iwahori-Hecke algebras $H$, Lusztig's asymptotic algebras $J$, cellular algebras in general and cellularity of $H$ in particular, as well as an introduction to Gyoja's $W$-graph algebra and the $W$-graph decomposition conjecture.
The aim of this paper is to gather and (try to) unify several approaches for the modular representation theory of Hecke algebras of type $B$. We attempt to explain the connections between Geck's cellular structures (coming from Kazhdan-Lusztig theory with unequal parameters) and Ariki's Theorem on the canonical basis of the Fock spaces.
In this paper we show that the lowest two-sided ideal of an affine Hecke algebra is affine cellular for all choices of parameters. We explicitely describe the cellular basis and we show that the basis elements have a nice decomposition when expressed in the Kazhdan-Lusztig basis. In type $A$ we provide a combinatorial description of this decomposition in term of number of paths.
In this note, we first prove that the degenerate cyclotomic Yokonuma-Hecke algebra $Y_{r,n}^{d}$ is cellular by constructing an explicit cellular basis. We then develop the fusion procedure for $Y_{r,n}^{d}$, that is, a complete set of pairwise orthogonal primitive idempotents for $Y_{r,n}^{d}$ is defined by consecutive evaluations of a certain rational function.
The Hecke-Clifford superalgebra is a super-analogue of the Iwahori-Hecke algebra of type A. The classification of its simple modules is done by Brundan, Kleshchev and Tsuchioka using a method of categorification of affine Lie algebras. In this paper, we introduce another way to produce its simple modules with a generalized theory of cellular algebras which is originally developed by Graham and Lehrer. In our construction the key is that there is a right action of the Clifford superalgebra on the super-analogue of the Specht module. With the help of the notion of the Morita context, a simple mo…
We construct a faithful tensor representation for the Yokonuma-Hecke algebra Y, and use it to give a concrete isomorphism between Y and Shoji's modified Ariki-Koike algebra. We give a cellular basis for Y and show that the Jucys-Murphy elements for Y are JM-elements in the abstract sense. Finally, we construct a cellular basis for the Aicardi-Juyumaya algebra of braids and ties.
In this article we study the representations of general linear groups which arise from their action on flag spaces. These representations can be decomposed into irreducibles by proving that the associated Hecke algebra is cellular. We give a geometric interpretation of a cellular basis of such Hecke algebras which was introduced by Murphy in the case of finite fields. We apply these results to decompose representations which arise from the space of modules over principal ideal local rings of length two with a finite residue field.
We compute the trace decategorification of the Hecke category for an arbitrary Coxeter group. More generally, we introduce the notion of a strictly object-adapted cellular category and calculate the trace for such categories.
Inspired by the work [PA], we establish an explicit algebra isomorphism between the degenerate cyclotomic Yokonuma-Hecke algebra $Y_{r,n}^{d}(q)$ and a direct sum of matrix algebras over tensor products of degenerate cyclotomic Hecke algebras of type $A$. We then develop several applications of this result, including a new proof of the modular representation theory of $Y_{r,n}^{d}(q)$, a semisimplicity criterion for it and cellularity of it. Moreover, we prove that $Y_{r,n}^{d}(q)$ is a symmetric algebra and determine the associated Schur elements by using the isomorphism theorem for it.
For symmetric groups we show that the p-canonical basis can be extended to a cell datum for the Iwahori-Hecke algebra H and that the two-sided p-cell preorder coincides with the Kazhdan-Lusztig two-sided cell preorder. Moreover, we show that left (or right) p-cells inside the same two-sided p-cell for Hecke algebras of finite crystallographic Coxeter systems are incomparable (Property A).
The Iwahori-Hecke algebra of the symmetric group is the convolution algebra of $\gl_n$-invariant functions on the variety of pairs of complete flags over a finite field. Considering convolution on the space of triples of two flags and a vector we obtain the mirabolic Hecke algebra $R_n$, which had originally been described by Solomon. In this paper we give a new presentation for $R_n$ which shows that it is a quotient of a cyclotomic Hecke algebra, as defined by Ariki and Koike. From this we recover the results of Siegel about the representations of $R_n$. We use Jucys-Murphy elements to descr…
In this paper, and a second part to follow, we complete the programme (initiated more than 15 years ago) of determining the decomposition numbers and verifying James' Conjecture for Iwahori--Hecke algebras of exceptional type. The new ingredients which allow us to achieve this aim are: - the fact, recently proved by the first author, that all Hecke algebras of finite type are cellular in the sense of Graham--Lehrer, and - the explicit determination of $W$-graphs for the irreducible (generic) representations of Hecke algebras of type $E_7$ and $E_8$ by Howlett and Yin. Thus, we can reduce the p…
We initiate the systematic study of endomorphism algebras of permutation modules and show they are obtainable by a descent from a certain "generic" Hecke algebra, infinite-dimensional in general, coming from the universal enveloping algebra of gl_n (or sl_n). The endomorphism algebras and the generic algebras are cellular. We give several equivalent descriptions of these algebras, find a number of explicit bases, and describe indexing sets for their irreducible representations.
The paper uses the cellular basis of the (semi-simple) degenerate cyclotomic Hecke algebras to investigate these algebras exhaustively. As a consequence, we describe explicitly the "Young's seminormal form" and a orthogonal bases for Specht modules and determine explicitly the closed formula for the natural bilinear form on Specht modules and Schur elements for the degenerate cyclotomic Hekce algebras.
In this note we are interested in labelling the irreducible representations of non-semisimple specialisations of Hecke algebras of complex reflection groups. We will use category O for the rational Cherednik algebra and the KZ functor together with elementary algebraic and combinatorial arguments to construct "canonical basic sets" in many cases. We will also show that the images of the standard modules through the KZ functor agree with the appropriate cell modules, whenever the Hecke algebra has a cellular structure.
We identify a subalgebra \pH_n of the extended affine Hecke algebra \eH_n of type A. The subalgebra \pH_n is a \u-analogue of the monoid algebra of §_n \ltimes \ZZ_{\geq 0}^n and inherits a canonical basis from that of \eH_n. We show that its left cells are naturally labeled by tableaux filled with positive integer entries having distinct residues mod n, which we term \emph{positive affine tableaux} (PAT). We then exhibit a cellular subquotient \R_{1^n} of \pH_n that is a \u-analogue of the ring of coinvariants \CC[y_1,...,y_n]/(e_1,...,e_n) with left cells labeled by PAT that are essentially …
We give a concrete construction of a graded cellular basis for the generalized blob algebra B_n introduced by Martin and Woodcock. The construction uses the isomorphism between KLR-algebras and cyclotomic Hecke algebras, proved by Brundan-Kleshchev and Rouquier. It gives rise to a family of Jucys-Murphy elements for B_n.
Cellular categories are a generalization of cellular algebras, which include a number of important categories such as (affine)Temperley-Lieb categories, Brauer diagram categories, partition categories, the categories of invariant tensors for certain quantised enveloping algebras and their highest weight representations, Hecke categories and so on. The common feather is that, for most of the examples, the endomorphism algebras of the categories form a tower of algebras. In this paper, we give an axiomatic framework for the cellular categories related to the quasi-hereditary tower and then study…
A fundamental open problem in algebraic combinatorics is to find a positive combinatorial formula for Kronecker coefficients, which are multiplicities of the decomposition of the tensor product of two §_r-irreducibles into irreducibles. Mulmuley and Sohoni attempt to solve this problem using canonical basis theory, by first constructing a nonstandard Hecke algebra B_r, which, though not a Hopf algebra, is a u-analogue of the Hopf algebra \CC §_r in some sense (where u is the Hecke algebra parameter). For r=3, we study this Hopf-like structure in detail. We define a nonstandard Hecke algebra \b…
This is the first of four articles studying some slight generalisations H(n,m) of Khovanov's diagram algebra, as well as quasi-hereditary covers K(n,m) of these algebras in the sense of Rouquier, and certain infinite dimensional limiting versions. In this article we prove that H(n,m) is a cellular symmetric algebra and that K(n,m) is a cellular quasi-hereditary algebra. In subsequent articles, we relate these algebras to level two blocks of degenerate cyclotomic Hecke algebras, parabolic category O and the general linear supergroup, respectively.
This paper shows that the cyclotomic quiver Hecke algebras of type $A$, and the gradings on these algebras, are intimately related to the classical seminormal forms. We start by classifying all seminormal bases and then give an explicit "integral" closed formula for the Gram determinants of the Specht modules in terms of the combinatorics which utilizes the KLR gradings. We then use seminormal forms to give a deformation of the KLR algebras of type $A$. This makes it possible to study the cyclotomic quiver Hecke algebras in terms of the semisimple representation theory and seminormal forms. As…
In this paper, we study the Kazhdan--Lusztig cells of a Coxeter group $W$ in a ``relative'' setting, with respect to a parabolic subgroup $W_I \subseteq W$. This relies on a factorization of the Kazhdan--Lusztig basis $\{C_w\}$ of the corresponding (multi-parameter) Iwahori--Hecke algebra with respect to $W_I$. We obtain two applications to the ``asymptotic case'' in type $B_n$, as introduced by Bonnafé--Iancu: we show that $\{C_w\}$ is a ``cellular basis'' in the sense of Graham--Lehrer, and we construct an analogue of Lusztig's canonical isomorphism from the Iwahori--Hecke algebra to the gro…
In this paper, we define a quotient of the cyclotomic Hecke algebra of type $G(r,1,n)$ as a generalisation of the Temperley-Lieb algebras of type $A$ and $B$. We establish a graded cellular structure for the generalised Temperley-Lieb algebra and, using the technology of $KLR$ algebras, determine the corresponding decomposition matrix.
In this paper we consider the $q$-Brauer algebra over $R$ a commutative noetherian domain. We first construct a new basis for $q$-Brauer algebras, and we then prove that it is a cell basis, and thus these algebras are cellular in the sense of Graham and Lehrer. In particular, they are shown to be an iterated inflation of Hecke algebras of type $A_{n-1}.$ Moreover, when $R$ is a field of arbitrary characteristic, we determine for which parameters the $q$-Brauer algebras are quasi-heredity. So the general theory of cellular algebras and quasi-hereditary algebras applies to $q$-Brauer algebras. A…
In this paper, we let $\Hecke$ be the Hecke algebra associated with a finite Coxeter group $W$ and with one-parameter, over the ring of scalars $\Alg=\mathbb{Z}(q, q^{-1})$. With an elementary method, we introduce a cellular basis of $\Hecke$ indexed by the sets $E_J (J\subseteq S)$ and obtain a general theory of "Specht modules". We provide an algorithm for $W\!$-graphs for the "generic Specht module", which associates with the Kazhdan and Lusztig cell ( or more generally, a union of cells of $W$ ) containing the longest element of a parabolic subgroup $W_J$ for appropriate $J\subseteq S$. As…
This chapter is based on a series of lectures that I gave at the National University of Singapore in April 2013. The notes survey the representation theory of the cyclotomic Hecke algebras of type A with an emphasis on understanding the KLR grading and the connections between the "classical" ungraded representation theory and the rapidly emerging graded theory. They are fairly self-contained and they try to give a leisurely introduction to these algebras, with many examples and calculations that don't appear elsewhere. We make extensive use of the interactions between the ungraded and graded r…
A construction of bases for cell modules of the Birman--Murakami--Wenzl (or B--M--W) algebra $B_n(q,r)$ by lifting bases for cell modules of $B_{n-1}(q,r)$ is given. By iterating this procedure, we produce cellular bases for B--M--W algebras on which a large abelian subalgebra, generated by elements which generalise the Jucys--Murphy elements from the representation theory of the Iwahori--Hecke algebra of the symmetric group, acts triangularly. The triangular action of this abelian subalgebra is used to provide explicit criteria, in terms of the defining parameters $q$ and $r$, for B--M--W alg…
We define an imbedding of the Hecke algebra module carried by the involutions in a Weyl group W (defined by the author and Vogan) into a completion of the Hecke algebra. An analogous result is proved for any Coxeter group. A variant of the construction gives an imbedding of the biregular representation of a Hecke algebra of W in a completion of the Hecke algebra of W^2.
In this paper the authors investigate the $q$-Schur algebras of type B that were constructed earlier using coideal subalgebras for the quantum group of type A. The authors present a coordinate algebra type construction that allows us to realize these $q$-Schur algebras as the duals of the $d$th graded components of certain graded coalgebras. Under suitable conditions an isomorphism theorem is proved that demonstrates that the representation theory reduces to the $q$-Schur algebra of type A. This enables the authors to address the questions of cellularity, quasi-hereditariness and representatio…
The recollement approach to the representation theory of sequences of algebras is extended to pass basis information directly through the globalisation functor. The method is hence adapted to treat sequences that are not necessarily towers by inclusion, such as symplectic blob algebras (diagram algebra quotients of the type-$\hati{C}$ Hecke algebras). By carefully reviewing the diagram algebra construction, we find a new set of functors interrelating module categories of ordinary blob algebras (diagram algebra quotients of the type-${B}$ Hecke algebras) at {\em different} values of the algebra…
We prove a conjecture of Kashiwara and Miemietz on canonical bases and branching rules of affine Hecke algebras of type D. The proof is similar to the proof of the type B case.
We prove a series of conjectures of Enomoto and Kashiwara on canonical bases and branching rules of affine Hecke algebras of type B. The main ingredient of the proof is a new graded Ext-algebra associated with quiver with involutions that we compute explicitly.
Using the geometry of the associated Calogero-Moser space, R. Rouquier and the author have attached to any finite complex reflection group $W$ several notions (Calogero-Moser left, right or two-sided cells, Calogero-Moser cellular characters), completing the notion of Calogero-Moser families defined by Gordon. If moreover $W$ is a Coxeter group, they conjectured that these notions coincide with the analogous notions defined using the Hecke algebra by Kazhdan and Lusztig (or Lusztig in the unequal parameters case). In the present paper, we aim to investigate these conjectures whenever $W$ is a …
We introduce some modified forms for the degenerate and non-degenerate affine Hecke algebras of type $A$. These are certain subalgebras living inside the inverse limit of cyclotomic Hecke algebras. We construct faithful representations and standard bases for these algebras and give some explicit description of their centers. We show that there are algebra isomorphisms between some generalized Ore localizations of these modified affine Hecke algebras and of the quiver Hecke algebras of type $A$. As an application, we show that the center conjecture for the cyclotomic quiver Hecke algebra of typ…
Let X be the group of weights of a maximal torus of a simply connected semisimple group over C and let W be the Weyl group. The semidirect product W(Q\otimes X/X) is called the extended Weyl group. There is a natural C(v)-algebra H called the extended Hecke algebra with basis indexed by the extended Weyl group which contains the usual Hecke algebra as a subalgebra. We construct an H-module with basis indexed by the involutions in the extended Weyl group. This generalizes a construction of the author and D.Vogan.
As a generalisation of Graham and Lehrer's cellular algebras, affine cellular algebras have been introduced in [12] in order to treat affine versions of diagram algebras like affine Hecke algebras of type A and affine Temperley-Lieb algebras in a unifying fashion. Affine cellular algebras include Kleshchev's graded quasihereditary algebras, KLR algebras and various other classes of algebras. In this paper we will study ring theoretical properties of affine cellular algebras. We show that any affine cellular algebra $A$ satisfies a polynomial identity. Furthermore, we show that $A$ can be embed…
A new class of algebras have been introduced by Khovanov and Lauda and independently by Rouquier. These algebras categorify one-half of the Quantum group associated to arbitrary Cartan data. In this paper, we use the combinatorics of Lyndon words to construct the irreducible representations of those algebras associated to Cartan data of finite type. This completes the classification of simple modules for the quiver Hecke algebra initiated by Kleshchev and Ram.
We construct characteristic-free bases and BGG resolutions of unitary simple modules of quiver Hecke algebras and Cherednik algebras. We hence solve and vastly generalise Berkesch-Griffeth-Sam's conjecture, calculate the Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity of ideals of of certain highly symmetric linear subspace arrangements, and compute Dirac homology of Cherednik algebras.
In this paper, we study the relation between the cocenter and the representation theory of affine Hecke algebras. The approach is based on the interaction between the rigid cocenter, an important subspace of the cocenter, and the dual object in representation theory, the rigid quotient of the Grothendieck group of finite dimensional representations.
After establishing a geometric Schur-Weyl duality in a general setting, we recall this duality in type A in the finite and affine case. We extend the duality in the affine case to positive parts of the affine algebras. The positive parts have nice ideals coming from geometry, allowing duality for quotients. Some of the quotients of the positive affine Hecke algebra are then identified to some cyclotomic Hecke algebras and the geometric setting allows the construction of canonical bases.
We describe an algorithm for computing the $p$-canonical basis of the Hecke algebra, or one of its antispherical modules. The algorithm does not operate in the Hecke category directly, but rather uses a faithful embedding of the Hecke category inside a semisimple category to build a "model" for indecomposable objects and bases of their morphism spaces. Inside this semisimple category, objects are sequences of Coxeter group elements, and morphisms are (sparse) matrices over a fraction field, making it quite amenable to computations. This strategy works for the full Hecke category over any base …
Let W be a complex reflection group. We prove that there is the maximal finite dimensional quotient of the Hecke algebra H_q(W) of W and that the dimension of this quotient coincides with |W|. This is a weak version of a Broué-Malle-Rouquier conjecture from 1998. The proof is based on categories O for Rational Cherednik algebras.
