We propose the new exactly solvable model for bosons corresponding to the attractive pairing interaction. Using the electrostatic analogy, the solution of this model in thermodynamic limit is found. The transition from the superfluid phase with the Bose condensate and the Bogoliubov - type spectrum of excitations in the weak coupling regime to the incompressible phase with the gap in the excitation spectrum in the strong coupling regime is observed.
Several explicit examples of multi-particle quasi exactly solvable `discrete' quantum mechanical Hamiltonians are derived by deforming the well-known exactly solvable multi-particle Hamiltonians, the Ruijsenaars-Schneider-van Diejen systems. These are difference analogues of the quasi exactly solvable multi-particle systems, the quantum Inozemtsev systems obtained by deforming the well-known exactly solvable Calogero-Sutherland systems. They have a finite number of exactly calculable eigenvalues and eigenfunctions. This paper is a multi-particle extension of the recent paper by one of the auth…
By exploiting the hidden algebraic structure of the Schrodinger Hamiltonian, namely the sl(2), we propose a unified approach of generating both exactly solvable and quasi-exactly solvable quantum potentials. We obtain, in this way, two new classes of quasi-exactly solvable systems one of which is of periodic type while the other hyperbolic.
Several explicit examples of quasi exactly solvable `discrete' quantum mechanical Hamiltonians are derived by deforming the well-known exactly solvable Hamiltonians of one degree of freedom. These are difference analogues of the well-known quasi exactly solvable systems, the harmonic oscillator (with/without the centrifugal potential) deformed by a sextic potential and the 1/sin^2x potential deformed by a cos2x potential. They have a finite number of exactly calculable eigenvalues and eigenfunctions.
We discuss a universal algebraic approach to quasi-exactly solvable models which allows us to interpret them as constrained Hamiltonian systems with a finite number of physical states. Using this approach we reproduce well-known two-dimensional Lie-algebraic quasi-exactly solvable system based on Lie algebra su(3).
Bethe ansatz formulation is presented for several explicit examples of quasi exactly solvable difference equations of one degree of freedom which are introduced recently by one of the present authors. These equations are deformation of the well-known exactly solvable difference equations of the Meixner-Pollaczek, continuous Hahn, continuous dual Hahn, Wilson and Askey-Wilson polynomials. Up to an overall factor of the so-called pseudo ground state wavefunction, the eigenfunctions within the exactly solvable subspace are given by polynomials whose roots are solutions of the associated Bethe ans…
The quasi-Gaudin algebra was introduced to construct integrable systems which are only quasi-exactly solvable. Using a suitable representation of the quasi-Gaudin algebra, we obtain a class of bosonic models which exhibit this curious property. These models have the notable feature that they do not preserve U(1) symmetry, which is typically associated to a non-conservation of particle number. An exact solution for the eigenvalues within the quasi-exactly solvable sector is obtained via the algebraic Bethe ansatz formalism.
Brief introduction to the discrete quantum mechanics is given together with the main results on various exactly solvable systems. Namely, the intertwining relations, shape invariance, Heisenberg operator solutions, annihilation/creation operators, dynamical symmetry algebras including the $q$-oscillator algebra and the Askey-Wilson algebra. A simple recipe to construct exactly and quasi-exactly solvable Hamiltonians in one-dimensional `discrete' quantum mechanics is presented. It reproduces all the known ones whose eigenfunctions consist of the Askey scheme of hypergeometric orthogonal polynom…
I introduce two family of exactly solvable models for multiatomic hetero-nuclear and homo-nuclear molecular Bose-Einstein condensates through the algebraic Bethe ansatz method. The conserved quantities of the respective models are also showed.
We have generated, using an sl(2,R) formalism, several new classes of quasi-solvable elliptic potentials, which in the appropriate limit go over to the exactly solvable forms. We have obtained exact solutions of the corresponding spectral problems for some real values of the potential parameters. We have also given explicit expressions of the families of associated orthogonal polynomials in the energy variable.
Using supersymmetric quantum mechanics we develop a new method for constructing quasi-exactly solvable (QES) potentials with two known eigenstates. This method is extended for constructing conditionally-exactly solvable potentials (CES). The considered QES potentials at certain values of parameters become exactly solvable and can be treated as CES ones.
The main contribution of our paper is to give a partial classification of the quasi-exactly solvable Lie algebras of first order differential operators in three variables, and to show how this can be applied to the construction of new quasi-exactly solvable Schrödinger operators in three dimensions.
We pinpoint that the work about "a new exactly solvable quantum model in $N$ dimensions" by Ballesteros et al. [Phys. Lett. A {\bf 375} (2011) 1431, arXiv:1007.1335] is not a new exactly solvable quantum model since the flaw of the position-dependent mass Hamiltonian proposed by them makes it less valuable in physics.
We find exact solutions of the time-dependent Schrödinger equation for a family of quasi-exactly solvable time-dependent potentials by means of non-unitary gauge transformations.
We present a simple recipe to construct exactly and quasi-exactly solvable Hamiltonians in one-dimensional `discrete' quantum mechanics, in which the Schrödinger equation is a difference equation. It reproduces all the known ones whose eigenfunctions consist of the Askey scheme of hypergeometric orthogonal polynomials of a continuous or a discrete variable. The recipe also predicts several new ones. An essential role is played by the sinusoidal coordinate, which generates the closure relation and the Askey-Wilson algebra together with the Hamiltonian. The relationship between the closure relat…
We consider two quasi-exactly solvable problems in one dimension for which the Schrödinger equation can be converted to Heun's equation. We show that in neither case the Bender-Dunne polynomials form an orthogonal set. Using the anti-isopectral transformation we also discover a new quasi-exactly solvable problem and show that even in this case the polynomials do not form an orthogonal set.
The differential realization of the potential group SO(2,2) is used. The spectrum-generating algebra for a kind of exactly solvable potentials endowed with position-dependent mass is constructed.
We present new quasi-exactly solvable models with inverse quartic, sextic, octic and decatic power potentials, respectively. We solve these models exactly via the functional Bethe ansatz method. For each case, we give closed-form solutions for the energies and the wave functions as well as analytical expressions for the allowed potential parameters in terms of a set of algebraic equations.
We apply a simple transformation method to construct a set of new exactly solvable potentials (ESP) which gives rise to bound state solution of $D$-dimensional Schrödinger equation. The important property of such exactly solvable quantum systems is that their normalized eigenfunctions can be written in terms of recently introduced exceptional orthogonal polynomials (EOP).
We comment that the conditionally exactly solvable potential of Dutt et al. and the exactly solvable potential from which it is derived form a dual system.
In this paper, we study the Schrödinger equation with a new quasi-exactly solvable double-well potential. Exact expressions for the energies, the corresponding wave functions and the allowed values of the potential parameters are obtained using two different methods, the Bethe ansatz method and the Lie algebraic approach. Some numerical results are reported and it is shown that the results are in good agreement with each other and with those obtained previously via a different method.
In this paper we discuss constraints on two-dimensional quantum-mechanical systems living in domains with boundaries. The constrains result from the requirement of hermicity of corresponding Hamiltonians. We construct new two-dimensional families of formally exactly solvable systems and applying such constraints show that in real the systems are quasi-exactly solvable at best. Nevertheless in the context of pseudo-Hermitian Hamiltonians some of the constructed families are exactly solvable.
We suggest a systematic method of extension of quasi-exactly solvable (QES) systems. We construct finite-dimensional subspaces on the basis of special functions (hypergeometric, Airy, Bessel ones) invariant with respect to the action of differential operators of the second order with polynomial coefficients. As a example of physical applications, we show that the known two-photon Rabi Hamiltonian becomes quasi-exactly solvable at certain values of parameters when it can be expressed in terms of corresponding QES operators related to the hypergeometric function.
We introduce a new family of quasi-exactly solvable generalized isotonic oscillators which are based on the pseudo-Hermite exceptional orthogonal polynomials. We obtain exact closed-form expressions for the energies and wavefunctions as well as the allowed potential parameters for the first two members of the family using the Bethe ansatz method. Numerical calculations of the energies reveal that member potentials have multiple quasi-exactly solvable eigenstates and the number of states for higher members are parameter dependent.
In this paper we establish a relation between two exactly-solvable problems on one-dimensional hyperbolics space, namely singular Coulomb and singular oscillator systems.
Various examples of exactly solvable `discrete' quantum mechanics are explored explicitly with emphasis on shape invariance, Heisenberg operator solutions, annihilation-creation operators, the dynamical symmetry algebras and coherent states. The eigenfunctions are the (q-)Askey-scheme of hypergeometric orthogonal polynomials satisfying difference equation versions of the Schrödinger equation. Various reductions (restrictions) of the symmetry algebra of the Askey-Wilson system are explored in detail.
Many examples of exactly solvable birth and death processes, a typical stationary Markov chain, are presented together with the explicit expressions of the transition probabilities. They are derived by similarity transforming exactly solvable `matrix' quantum mechanics, which is recently proposed by Odake and the author. The ($q$-)Askey-scheme of hypergeometric orthogonal polynomials of a discrete variable and their dual polynomials play a central role. The most generic solvable birth/death rates are rational functions of $q^x$ ($x$ being the population) corresponding to the $q$-Racah polynomi…
By using the technique of supersymmetric quantum mechanics, we study a quasi exactly solvable extension of the N-particle rational Calogero model with harmonic confining interaction. Such quasi exactly solvable many particle system, whose effective potential in the radial direction yields a supersymmetric partner of the radial harmonic oscillator, is constructed by including new long-range interactions to the rational Calogero model. An infinite number of bound state energy levels are obtained for this system under certain conditions. We also calculate the corresponding bound state wave functi…
A comprehensive review of exactly solvable quantum mechanics is presented with the emphasis of the recently discovered multi-indexed orthogonal polynomials. The main subjects to be discussed are the factorised Hamiltonians, the general structure of the solution spaces of the Schroedinger equation (Crum's theorem and its modifications), the shape invariance, the exact solvability in the Schroedinger picture as well as in the Heisenberg picture, the creation/annihilation operators and the dynamical symmetry algebras, coherent states, various deformation schemes (multiple Darboux transformations)…
A systematic procedure to derive exact solutions of the associated Lame equation for an arbitrary value of the energy is presented. Supersymmetric transformations in which the seed solutions have factorization energies inside the gaps are used to generate new exactly solvable potentials; some of them exhibit an interesting property of periodicity defects.
In supersymmetric quantum mechanics, exact-solvability of one-dimensional quantum systems can be classified only with an additional assumption of integrability, the so-called shape invariance condition. In this paper we show that in the prepotential approach we proposed previously, shape invariance is automatically satisfied and needs not be assumed.
We consider quasinormal modes with complex energies from the point of view of the theory of quasi-exactly solvable (QES) models. We demonstrate that it is possible to find new potentials which admit exactly solvable or QES quasinormal modes by suitable complexification of parameters defining the QES potentials. Particularly, we obtain one QES and four exactly solvable potentials out of the five one-dimensional QES systems based on the $sl(2)$ algebra.
Exactly solvable rationally-extended radial oscillator potentials, whose wavefunctions can be expressed in terms of Laguerre-type exceptional orthogonal polynomials, are constructed in the framework of $k$th-order supersymmetric quantum mechanics, with special emphasis on $k=2$. It is shown that for $μ=1$, 2, and 3, there exist exactly $μ$ distinct potentials of $μ$th type and associated families of exceptional orthogonal polynomials, where $μ$ denotes the degree of the polynomial $g_μ$ arising in the denominator of the potentials.
By introducing the generalized master function of order up to four together with corresponding weight function, we have obtained all quasi-exactly solvable second order differential equations. It is shown that these differntial equations have solutions of polynomial type with factorziation properties, that is polynomial solutions Pm(E) can be factorized in terms of polynomial Pn(E) for m not equal to n. All known quasi-exactly quantum solvable models can be obtained from these differential equations, where roots of polynomial Pn(E) are corresponding eigen-values.
By using the point canonical transformation approach in a manner distinct from previous ones, we generate some new exactly solvable or quasi-exactly solvable potentials for the one-dimensional Schrödinger equation with a position-dependent effective mass. In the latter case, SUSYQM techniques provide us with some additional new potentials.
We consider the double sinh-Gordon potential which is a quasi-exactly solvable problem and show that in this case one has two sets of Bender-Dunne orthogonal polynomials . We study in some detail the various properties of these polynomials and the corresponding quotient polynomials. In particular, we show that the weight functions for these polynomials are not always positive. We also study the orthogonal polynomials of the double sine-Gordon potential which is related to the double sinh-Gordon case by an anti-isospectral transformation. Finally we discover a new quasi-exactly solvable problem…
A transformation method is applied to the second order ordinary differential equation satisfied by orthogonal polynomials to construct a family of exactly solvable quantum systems in any arbitrary dimensional space. Using the properties of orthogonal polynomials, the method transforms polynomial differential equation to D-dimensional radial Schrodinger equation which facilitates construction of exactly solvable quantum systems. The method is also applied using associated Laguerre and Hypergeometric polynomials. The quantum systems generated from other polynomials are also briefly highlighted.
We evaluate Shannon entropy for the position and momentum eigenstates of some conditionally exactly solvable potentials which are isospectral to harmonic oscillator and whose solutions are given in terms of exceptional orthogonal polynomials. The Bialynicki-Birula-Mycielski (BBM) inequality has also been tested for a number of states.
In this work, we start from the well known Calogero-Wolfes type 3-body problems on a line and construct the corresponding exactly solvable rationally extended 3-body potentials. In particular, we obtain the corresponding energy eigenvalues and eigenfunctions which are in terms of the product of Xm Laguerre and Xp Jacobi exceptional orthogonal polynomials where both m,p = 1,2,3,....
This work continues to study the set of quasi exactly solvable potentials related to the Eckart, Hultén, Rosen-Morse, Coulomb and the harmonic oscillator potentials. We solve the Schrödinger equation for each potential and obtain the eigenvalues and eigenstates in terms of the orthogonal polynomials. We present a unified approach to obtain the potentials from each other by suitable change of variables.
A set of quasi-exactly solvable quantum mechanical potentials associated with the Poeschl-Teller potential, the generalized Poeschl-Teller potential, the Scarf potential, and the harmonic oscillator potential have been studied. Solutions of the Schroedinger equation for each potential have been determined and the eigenstates are expressed in terms of the orthogonal polynomials. The potentials are related to each other by suitable change of variables.
Below we study theoretically and numerically the asymptotics of the algebraic part of the spectrum for the quasi-exactly solvable sextic potential, its level crossing points, and its monodromy in the complex plane of its parameter. We also discuss connection between the quasi-exactly solvable sextic and the classical quartic potential.
We propose a new SUSY method for construction of the quasi-exactly solvable (QES) potentials with three known eigenstates. New QES potentials and corresponding energy levels and wave functions of the ground state and two lowest excited state are obtained. The proposed scheme allows also to construct families of exactly solvable non-singular potentials which are SUSY partners of the well-known ones.
We systematically describe and classify 1-dimensional Schrödinger equations that can be solved in terms of hypergeometric type functions. Beside the well-known families, we explicitly describe 2 new classes of exactly solvable Schrödinger equations that can be reduced to the Hermite equation.
The scattering amplitude for the recently discovered exactly solvable shape invariant potential, which is isospectral to the generalized Pöschl-Taylor potential, is calculated explicitly by considering the asymptotic behavior of the $X_{1}$ Jacobi exceptional polynomials associated with this system.
We construct six multi-parameter families of Hermitian quasi-exactly solvable matrix Schroedinger operators in one variable. The method for finding these operators relies heavily upon a special representation of the Lie algebra o(2,2) whose representation space contains an invariant finite-dimensional subspace. Besides that we give several examples of quasi-exactly solvable matrix models that have square-integrable eigenfunctions. These examples are in direct analogy with the quasi-exactly solvable scalar Schroedinger operators obtained by Turbiner and Ushveridze.
Motivated by the earlier results, we study theoretically and numerically the asymptotics and the monodromy of the quasi-exactly solvable part of the spectrum of the quasi-exactly solvable quartic introduced by C.~M.~Bender and S.~Boettcher. In particular, we formulate a conjecture on the coincidence of the asymptotic shape of the configuration of the branching points of the latter quartic with the asymptotic shape of zeros of the Yablonskii-Vorob'ev polynomials recently described and present its (conjectural) alternative description. Further we present a numerical study of the spectral monodro…
A second-order differential (q-difference) eigenvalue equation is constructed whose solutions are generating functions of the dual (q-)Hahn polynomials. The fact is noticed that these generating functions are reduced to the (little q-)Jacobi polynomials, and implications of this for quasi-exactly solvable problems are studied. A connection with the Azbel-Hofstadter problem is indicated.
Inertial particles in 2D driven by a Gaussian white noise forcing are considered. For two examples of the forcing (compressible and incompressible) upper and lower bounds are found for the mean number of caustics as a function of Stokes number. Efficiency of the bounds is verified by numerical methods.
We study a quantum mechanical potential introduced previously as a conditionally exactly solvable (CES) model. Besides an analysis following its original introduction in terms of the point canonical transformation, we also present an alternative supersymmetric construction of it. We demonstrate that from the three roots of the implicit cubic equation defining the bound-state energy eigenvalues, there is always only one that leads to a meaningful physical state. Finally we demonstrate that the present CES interaction is, in fact, an exactly solvable Natanzon-class potential.
We construct models of exactly solvable two-particle quantum graphs with certain non-local two-particle interactions, establishing appropriate boundary conditions via suitable self-adjoint realisations of the two-particle Laplacian. Showing compatibility with the Bethe ansatz method, we calculate quantisation conditions in the form of secular equations from which the spectra can be deduced. We compare spectral statistics of some examples to well known results in random matrix theory, analysing the chaotic properties of their classical counterparts.
We present several examples of quasi-exactly solvable $N$-body problems in one, two and higher dimensions. We study various aspects of these problems in some detail. In particular, we show that in some of these examples the corresponding polynomials form an orthogonal set and many of their properties are similar to those of the Bender-Dunne polynomials. We also discuss QES problems where the polynomials do not form an orthogonal set.
Based on a method that produces the solutions to the Schrodinger equations of partner potentials, we give two conditionally exactly solvable partner potentials of exponential type defined on the half line. These potentials are multiplicative shape invariant and each of their linearly independent solution includes a sum of two hypergeometric functions. Furthermore we calculate the scattering amplitudes and study some of their properties.
