We characterize the weak-type boundedness of the Hilbert transform $H$ on weighted Lorentz spaces $Λ^p_u(w)$, with $p>0$, in terms of some geometric conditions on the weights $u$ and $w$ and the weak-type boundedness of the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator on the same spaces. Our results recover simultaneously the theory of the boundedness of $H$ on weighted Lebesgue spaces $L^p(u)$ and Muckenhoupt weights $A_p$, and the theory on classical Lorentz spaces $Λ^p(w)$ and Ariño Muckenhoupt weights $B_p$.
We prove the $L^2$ boundedness of the directional Hilbert transform in the plane relative to measurable vector fields which are constant on suitable Lipschitz curves.
We prove the $L^p (p > 3/2)$ boundedness of the directional Hilbert transform in the plane relative to measurable vector fields which are constant on suitable Lipschitz curves.
We show sufficient conditions on matrix weights $U$ and $V$ for the martingale transforms to be uniformly bounded from $L^2(V)$ to $L^2(U)$. We also show that these conditions imply the uniform boundedness of the dyadic shifts as well as the boundedness of the Hilbert transform between these spaces.
We are proving $L^2(\R)\times L^2(\R)\,\rightarrow\,L^1(\R)$ bounds for the bilinear Hilbert transform $H_Γ$ along curves $Γ=(t,-γ(t))$ with $γ$ being a smooth "non-flat" curve near zero and infinity.
In this paper, the $L^2$ boundedness of the Hilbert transform along variable flat curve $(t,P(x_1)γ(t))$ $$H_{P,γ}f(x_1,x_2):=\mathrm{p.\,v.}\int_{-\infty}^{\infty}f(x_1-t,x_2-P(x_1)γ(t))\,\frac{\textrm{d}t}{t},\quad \forall\, (x_1,x_2)\in\mathbb{R}^2,$$ is studied, where $P$ is a real polynomial on $\mathbb{R}$. A new sufficient condition on the curve $γ$ is introduced.
In this paper, for general plane curves $γ$ satisfying some suitable smoothness and curvature conditions, we obtain the single annulus $L^p(\mathbb{R}^2)$-boundedness of the Hilbert transforms $H^\infty_{U,γ}$ along the variable plane curves $(t,U(x_1, x_2)γ(t))$ and the $L^p(\mathbb{R}^2)$-boundedness of the corresponding maximal functions $M^\infty_{U,γ}$, where $p>2$ and $U$ is a measurable function. The range on $p$ is sharp. Furthermore, for $1<p\leq 2$, under the additional conditions that $U$ is Lipschitz and making a $\varepsilon_0$-truncation with $γ(2 \varepsilon_0)\leq 1/4\|U\|_{\te…
Let $p\in (1,\infty)$. In this paper, for any given measurable function $u:\ \mathbb{R}\rightarrow \mathbb{R}$ and a generalized plane curve $γ$ satisfying some conditions, the $L^p(\mathbb{R}^2)$ boundedness of the Hilbert transform along the variable plane curve $u(x_1)γ$ $$H_{u,γ}f(x_1,x_2):=\mathrm{p.\,v.}\int_{-\infty}^{\infty}f(x_1-t,x_2-u(x_1)γ(t)) \,\frac{\textrm{d}t}{t}, \quad \forall\, (x_1,x_2)\in\mathbb{R}^2, $$ is obtained. At the same time, the $L^p(\mathbb{R})$ boundedness of the corresponding Carleson operator along the general curve $γ$ $$\mathcal{C}_{u,γ}f(x):=\mathrm{p.\,v.}…
We show that the bilinear Hilbert transform $H_Γ$ along curves $Γ=(t,-γ(t))$ with $γ\in\mathcal{N}\mathcal{F}^{C}$ is bounded from $L^{p}(\mathbb{R})\times L^{q}(\mathbb{R})\,\rightarrow\,L^{r}(\mathbb{R})$ where $p,\,q,\,r$ are Hölder indices, i.e. $\frac{1}{p}+\frac{1}{q}=\frac{1}{r}$, with $1<p<\infty$, $1<q\leq\infty$ and $1\leq r<\infty$. Here $\mathcal{N}\mathcal{F}^{C}$ stands for a wide class of smooth "non-flat" curves near zero and infinity whose precise definition is given in Section 2. This continues author's earlier work on this topic, extending the boundedness range of $H_Γ$ to a…
We study mapping properties of the centered Hardy--Littlewood maximal operator $\mathcal{M}$ acting on Lorentz spaces. Given $p \in (1,\infty)$ and a metric measure space $\mathfrak{X}$ we let $Ω^p_{\rm HL}(\mathfrak{X}) \subset [0,1]^2$ be the set of all pairs $(\frac{1}{q},\frac{1}{r})$ such that $\mathcal{M}$ is bounded from $L^{p,q}(\mathfrak{X})$ to $L^{p,r}(\mathfrak{X})$. For each fixed $p$ all possible shapes of $Ω^p_{\rm HL}(\mathfrak{X})$ are characterized. Namely, we show that the boundary of $Ω^p_{\rm HL}(\mathfrak{X})$ either is empty or takes the form $$\{ δ\} \times [0, \lim_{u …
We prove a DeLeeuw type theorem of transference of boundedness for modulation invariant multiplier operators between the groups defined by the real line and the torus.
We prove the boundedness of a class of tri-linear operators consisting of a quasi piece of bilinear Hilbert transform whose scale equals to or dominates the scale of its linear counter part. Such type of operators is motivated by the tri-linear Hilbert transform and its curved versions.
We prove the boundedness of the maximal operator and Hilbert transform along certain variable parabolas in $L^p$ for $p>p_0$ with some $p_0\in (1, 2)$. Connections with the Hilbert transform along vector fields and the polynomial Carleson's maximal operator are also discussed.
We study Bergman-Lorentz spaces on tube domains over symmetric cones, i.e. spaces of holomorphic functions which belong to Lorentz spaces $L(p, q).$ We establish boundedness and surjectivity of Bergman projectors from Lorentz spaces to the corresponding Bergman-Lorentz spaces and real interpolation between Bergman-Lorentz spaces. Finally we ask a question whose positive answer would enlarge the interval of parameters $p\in (1, \infty)$ such that the relevant Bergman projector is bounded on $L^p$ for cones of rank $r\geq 3.$

In this paper, for $1<p<\infty$, we obtain the $L^p$-boundedness of the Hilbert transform $H^γ$ along a variable plane curve $(t,u(x_1, x_2)γ(t))$, where $u$ is a Lipschitz function with small Lipschitz norm, and $γ$ is a general curve satisfying some suitable smoothness and curvature conditions.
In this paper, we determine the $L^p(\mathbb{R})\times L^q(\mathbb{R})\rightarrow L^r(\mathbb{R})$ boundedness of the bilinear Hilbert transform $H_γ(f,g)$ along a convex curve $γ$ $$H_γ(f,g)(x):=\mathrm{p.\,v.}\int_{-\infty}^{\infty}f(x-t)g(x-γ(t)) \,\frac{\textrm{d}t}{t},$$ where $p$, $q$, and $r$ satisfy $\frac{1}{p}+\frac{1}{q}=\frac{1}{r}$, and $r>\frac{1}{2}$, $p>1$, and $q>1$. Moreover, the same $L^p(\mathbb{R})\times L^q(\mathbb{R})\rightarrow L^r(\mathbb{R})$ boundedness property holds for the corresponding (sub)bilinear maximal function $M_γ(f,g)$ along a convex curve $γ$ $$M_γ(f,g)(…
In this article, the authors establish a general (two-weight) boundedness criterion for a pair of functions, $(F,f)$, on $\mathbb{R}^n$ in the scale of weighted Lebesgue spaces, weighted Lorentz spaces, (Lorentz--)Morrey spaces, and variable Lebesgue spaces. As applications, the authors give a unified approach to prove the (two-weight) boundedness of Calderón--Zygmund operators, Littlewood--Paley $g$-functions, Lusin area functions, Littlewood--Paley $g^\ast_λ$-functions, and fractional integral operators, in the aforementioned function spaces. Moreover, via applying the above (two-weight) bou…
The main objective of this work is to bring together two well known and, a priori, unrelated theories dealing with weighted inequalities for the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator $M$, and thus, we consider the boundedness of $M$ in the weighted Lorentz space $Λ^p_u(w)$. Two examples are historically relevant as a motivation: If $w=1$, this corresponds to the study of the boundedness $M:L^p(u)\longrightarrow L^p(u),$ which was characterized by B. Muckenhoupt, giving rise to the so called $A_p$ weights. The second case is when we take $u=1$. This is a more recent theory, and was completely solve…
We prove bounds for the truncated directional Hilbert transform in $L^p(\mathbb{R}^2)$ for any $1<p<\infty$ under a combination of a Lipschitz assumption and a lacunarity assumption. It is known that a lacunarity assumption alone is not sufficient to yield boundedness for $p=2$, and it is a major question in the field whether a Lipschitz assumption alone suffices, at least for some $p$.
Recently, in \cite{GXHTM}, the authors established $L^p$-boundedness of vector-valued $q$-variational inequalities for averaging operators which take values in the Banach space satisfying martingale cotype $q$ property. In this paper, we prove that martingale cotype $q$ property is also necessary for the vector-valued $q$-variational inequalities, which is a question left open. Moreover, we characterize UMD property and martingale cotype $q$ property in terms of vector valued $q$-variational inequalities for Hilbert transform.
In this note, we frst consider boundedness properties of a family of operators generalizing the Hilbert operator in the upper triangle case. In the diagonal case, we give the exact norm of these operators under some restrictions on the parameters. We secondly consider boundedness properties of a family of positive Bergman-type operators of the upper-half plane. We give necessary and sufficient conditions on the parameters under which these operators are bounded in the upper triangle case.
We make progress on an interesting problem on the boundedness of maximal modulations of the Hilbert transform along the parabola. Namely, if we consider the multiplier arising from it and restrict it to lines, we prove uniform $L^p$ bounds for maximal modulations of the associated operators. Our methods consist of identifying where to use effectively the polynomial Carleson theorem, and where we can take advantage of the presence of oscillation to obtain decay through the $TT^*$ method.
In this paper, we show that Hilbert transforms along some curves are bounded on $L^p({\mathbb R}^n;X)$ for some $1<p<\infty$ and some UMD spaces $X$. In particular, we prove that the Hilbert transform along some curves are completely $L^p$-bounded in the terminology from operator space theory. Moreover, we obtain the $L^p(\mathbb{R}^n;X)$-boundedness of anisotropic singular integrals by using the "method of rotations" of Calderón-Zygmund. All these results extend the existing related ones.
The so-called triangular Hilbert transform is an elegant trilinear singular integral form which specializes to many well studied objects of harmonic analysis. We investigate $L^p$ bounds for a dyadic model of this form in the particular case when one of the functions on which it acts is essentially one-dimensional. This special case still implies dyadic analogues of boundedness of the Carleson maximal operator and of the uniform estimates for the one-dimensional bilinear Hilbert transform.
Let $ v$ be a smooth vector field on the plane, that is a map from the plane to the unit circle. We study sufficient conditions for the boundedness of the Hilbert transform \operatorname H_{v, ε}f(x) := \text{p.v.}\int_{-ε}^ εf(x-yv(x)) \frac{dy}y where $ ε$ is a suitably chosen parameter, determined by the smoothness properties of the vector field. It is a conjecture, due to E.\thinspace M.\thinspace Stein, that if $ v$ is Lipschitz, there is a positive $ ε$ for which the transform above is bounded on $ L ^{2}$. Our principal result gives a sufficient condition in terms of the boundedness of …
We give one sufficient and two necessary conditions for boundedness between Lebesgue or Lorentz spaces of several classes of bilinear multiplier operators closely connected with the bilinear Hilbert transform.
Muscalu, Pipher, Tao and Thiele \cite{MPTT} showed that the tensor product between two one dimensional paraproducts (also known as bi-parameter paraproduct) satisfies all the expected $L^p$ bounds. In the same paper they showed that the tensor product between two bilinear Hilbert transforms is unbounded in any range. They also raised the question about $L^p$ boundedness of the bilinear Hilbert transform tensor product with a paraproduct. We answer their question by obtaining a wide range of estimates for this hybrid bilinear operator. Our method relies on new vector valued estimates for a fami…
We prove that the bilinear Hilbert transform along two polynomials $B_{P,Q}(f,g)(x)=\int_{\mathbb{R}}f(x-P(t))g(x-Q(t))\frac{dt}{t}$ is bounded from $L^p \times L^q$ to $L^r$ for a large range of $(p,q,r)$, as long as the polynomials $P$ and $Q$ have distinct leading and trailing degrees. The same boundedness property holds for the corresponding bilinear maximal function $\mathcal{M}_{P,Q}(f,g)(x)=\sup_{ε>0}\frac{1}{2ε}\int_{-ε}^ε |f(x-P(t))g(x-Q(t))|dt$.
In this paper we introduce and study several new Hilbert-type operators acting between the weighted Fock spaces. We provide some sufficient and necessary conditions for the boundedness and compactness of certain Hilbert-type operators from one weighted Fock space to another.
We establish a uniform domination of the family of trilinear multiplier forms with singularity over a one-dimensional subspace by positive sparse forms involving $L^p$-averages. This class includes the adjoint forms to the bilinear Hilbert transforms. Our result strengthens the $L^p$-boundedness proved in \cite{MTT} and entails as a corollary a rich multilinear weighted theory. In particular, we obtain $L^{q_1}(v_1) \times L^{q_2}(v_2)$-boundedness of the bilinear Hilbert transform when the weights $v_j$ belong to the class $A_{\frac{q+1}{2}}\cap RH_2$. Our proof relies on a stopping time cons…
We consider boundedness of a certain positive dyadic operator $$ T^σ\colon L^p(σ; \ \! \ell^2) \to L^p(ω), $$ that arose during our attempts to develop a two-weight theory for the Hilbert transform in $L^p$. Boundedness of $T^σ$ is characterized when $p \in [2, \infty)$ in terms of certain testing conditions. This requires a new Carleson-type embedding theorem that is also proved.
Let $W$ denote a matrix $A_2$ weight. In this paper, we implement a scalar argument using the square function to deduce square-function type results for vector-valued functions in $L^2(\mathbb{R},\mathbb{C}^d)$. These results are then used to study the boundedness of the Hilbert transform and Haar multipliers on $L^2(\mathbb{R},\mathbb{C}^d)$. Our proof shortens the original argument by Treil and Volberg and improves the dependence on the $A_2$ characteristic. In particular, we prove that the Hilbert transform and Haar multipliers map $L^2(\mathbb{R},W,\mathbb{C}^d)$ to itself with dependence …
We consider iterated commutators of multiplication by a symbol function and tensor products of Hilbert or Riesz transforms. We establish mixed BMO classes of symbols that characterize boundedness of these objects in $L^p$. Little BMO and product BMO, big Hankel operators and iterated commutators are the base cases of our results. We use operator theoretical methods and existing profound results on iterated commutators for the Hilbert transform case, while the general result in several variables is obtained through the construction of a Journé operator that models the behavior of the multiple H…
Let $p\in(0,1]$, $q\in(0,\infty]$ and $A$ be a general expansive matrix on $\mathbb{R}^n$. The authors introduce the anisotropic Hardy-Lorentz space $H^{p,q}_A(\mathbb{R}^n)$ associated with $A$ via the non-tangential grand maximal function and then establish its various real-variable characterizations in terms of the atomic or the molecular decompositions, the radial or the non-tangential maximal functions, or the finite atomic decompositions. All these characterizations except the $\infty$-atomic characterization are new even for the classical isotropic Hardy-Lorentz spaces on $\mathbb{R}^n$…
We prove that if a pair of weights $(u,v)$ satisfies a sharp $A_p$-bump condition in the scale of log bumps and certain loglog bumps, then Haar shifts map $L^p(v)$ into $L^p(u)$ with a constant quadratic in the complexity of the shift. This in turn implies the two weight boundedness for all Calderón-Zygmund operators. This gives a partial answer to a long-standing conjecture. We also give a partial result for a related conjecture for weak-type inequalities. To prove our main results we combine several different approaches to these problems; in particular we use many of the ideas developed to p…
For any natural number $k$, consider the $k$-linear Hilbert transform $$ H_k( f_1,\dots,f_k )(x) := \operatorname{p.v.} \int_{\bf R} f_1(x+t) \dots f_k(x+kt)\ \frac{dt}{t}$$ for test functions $f_1,\dots,f_k: {\bf R} \to {\bf C}$. It is conjectured that $H_k$ maps $L^{p_1}({\bf R}) \times \dots \times L^{p_k}({\bf R}) \to L^p({\bf R})$ whenever $1 < p_1,\dots,p_k,p < \infty$ and $\frac{1}{p} = \frac{1}{p_1} + \dots + \frac{1}{p_k}$. This is proven for $k=1,2$, but remains open for larger $k$. In this paper, we consider the truncated operators $$ H_{k,r,R}( f_1,\dots,f_k )(x) := \int_{r \leq |t…
