In this paper we study sharp pointwise inequalities for maximal operators. In particular, we strengthen DeVore's inequality for the moduli of smoothness and a logarithmic variant of Bennett--DeVore--Sharpley's inequality for rearrangements. As a consequence, we improve the classical Stein--Zygmund embedding deriving $\dot{B}^{d/p}_\infty L_{p,\infty}(\mathbb{R}^d) \hookrightarrow \text{BMO}(\mathbb{R}^d)$ for $1 < p < \infty$. Moreover, these results are also applied to establish new Fefferman--Stein inequalities, Calderón--Scott type inequalities, and extrapolation estimates. Our approach is based on the limiting interpolation techniques.
We provide some new estimates for Bellman type functions for the dyadic maximal opeator on $R^n$ and of maximal operators on martingales related to weighted spaces. Using a type of symmetrization principle, introduced for the dyadic maximal operator in earlier works of the authors we introduce certain conditions on the weight that imply estimate for the maximal operator on the corresponding weighted space. Also using a well known estimate for the maximal operator by a double maximal operators on different m easures related to the weight we give new estimates for the above Bellman type function…
In this paper, we establish multilinear BMO estimates for commutators of multilinear fractional maximal and integral operators both on product generalized Morrey spaces and product generalized vanishing Morrey spaces, respectively. Similar results are still valid for commutators of multilinear maximal and singular integral operators.
We provide sharp weak estimates for the distribution function of Mϕwhen on ϕwe impose L1, Lq and Lp,1 restrictions. Here M is the dyadic maximal operator associated to a tree T on a non-atomic probability measure space.
In this paper, we establish BMO estimates for generalized commutators of rough fractional maximal and integral operators on generalized weighted Morrey spaces, respectively.
We precisely evaluate Bellman type functions for the dyadic maximal opeator on $R^n$ and of maximal operators on martingales related to local Lorentz type estimates. Using a type of symmetrization principle, introduced for the dyadic maximal operator in earlier works of the authors we precisely evaluate the supremum of the Lorentz quasinorm of the maximal operator on a function $ϕ$ when the integral of $ϕ$ is fixed and also the same Lorentz quasinorm of $ϕ$ is fixed. Also we find the corresponding supremum when the integral of $ϕ$ is fixed and several weak type conditions are given.
In this paper, we obtain the desired noncommutative maximal inequalities of the truncated Calderón-Zygmund operators of non-convolution type acting on operator-valued $L_p$-functions for all $1<p<\infty$, answering a question left open in the previous work \cite{HLX}.
We compute the Bellman function of three integral variables associated to the dyadic maximal operator on a subset of its domain. Additionally, we provide an upper bound for the whole domain of its definition.
We prove that the existence of a Mihlin-Hörmander functional calculus for an operator $L$ implies the boundedness on $L^p$ of both the maximal operators and the continuous square functions build on spectral multipliers of $L.$ The considered multiplier functions are finitely smooth and satisfy an integral condition at infinity. In particular multipliers of compact support are admitted.
This paper studies smoothing properties of the local fractional maximal operator, which is defined in a proper subdomain of the Euclidean space. We prove new pointwise estimates for the weak gradient of the maximal function, which imply norm estimates in Sobolev spaces. An unexpected feature is that these estimates contain extra terms involving spherical and fractional maximal functions. Moreover, we construct several explicit examples which show that our results are essentially optimal. Extensions to metric measure spaces are also discussed.
The best constant in the usual Lp norm inequality for the centered Hardy-Littlewood maximal function on R1 is obtained for the class of all ``peak-shaped'' functions. A positive function on the line is called ``peak-shaped'' if it is positive and convex except at one point. The techniques we use include convexity and an adaptation of the standard Euler-Langrange variational method.
In this paper it is shown that the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator $M$ is not bounded on Zygmund-Morrey space $\mathcal{M}_{L(\log L),λ}$, but $M$ is still bounded on $\mathcal{M}_{L(\log L),λ}$ for radially decreasing functions. The boundedness of the iterated maximal operator $M^2$ from $\mathcal{M}_{L(\log L),λ}$ to weak Zygmund-Morrey space ${\mathcal {W \! M}}_{L(\log L),λ}$ is proved. The class of functions for which the maximal commutator $C_b$ is bounded from $\mathcal{M}_{L(\log L),λ}$ to ${\mathcal {W \! M}}_{L(\log L),λ}$ are characterized. It is proved that the commutator of the …
We obtain sharp estimates for the localized distribution function of Mϕ, when ϕbelongs to Lp,\inf where M is the dyadic maximal operator. We obtain these estimates given the L1 and Lq norm, q < p and certain weak Lp-conditions.
In this article, we investigate the maximal bilinear Riesz means $S^{α}_{*}$ associated to the sublaplacian on the Heisenberg group. We prove that the operator $S^{α}_{*}$ is bounded from $L^{p_{1}}\times L^{p_{2}}$ into $% L^{p}$ for $2\leq p_{1}, p_{2}\leq \infty $ and $1/p=1/p_{1}+1/p_{2}$ when $% α$ is large than a suitable smoothness index $α(p_{1},p_{2})$. For obtaining a lower index $α(p_{1},p_{2})$, we define two important auxiliary operators and investigate their $L^{p}$ estimates, which play a key role in our proof.
The aim of the present paper is to obtain a Sjölin-type maximal estimate for pseudo-differential operators with homogeneous symbols. The crux of the proof is to obtain a phase decomposition formula which does not involve the time traslation. The proof is somehow parallel to the paper by Pramanik and Terwilleger (P. Malabika and E. Terwilleger, A weak $L^2$ estimate for a maximal dyadic sum operator on $R^n$, Illinois J. Math, {\bf 47} (2003), no. 3, 775--813). In the present paper, we mainly concentrate on our new phase decomposition formula and the results in the Cotlar type estimate, which a…
The present paper, we study in the harmonic analysis associated to the Weinstein operator, the boundedness on Lp of the uncentered maximal function. First, we establish estimates for the Weinstein translation of characteristic function of a closed ball with radius " centered at 0 on the upper half space. Second, we prove weak-type L1-estimates for the uncentered maximal function associated with the Weinstein operator and we obtain that is bounded on Lp for p>1.
This paper presents a survey of maximal inequalities for stochastic convolutions in $2$-smooth Banach spaces and their applications to stochastic evolution equations.
We prove some Sawyer-type characterizations for multilinear fractional maximal function for the upper triangle case. We also provide some two-weight norm estimates for this operator. As one of the main tools, we use an extension of the usual Carleson Embedding that is an analogue of the P. L. Duren extension of the Carleson Embedding for measures.
In this paper, we study maximal functions along some finite type curves and hypersurfaces. In particular, various impacts of non-isotropic dilations are considered. Firstly, we provide a generic scheme that allows us to deduce the sparse domination bounds for global maximal functions under the assumption that the corresponding localized maximal functions satisfy the $L^{p}$ improving properties. Secondly, for the localized maximal functions with non-isotropic dilations of curves and hypersurfaces whose curvatures vanish to finite order at some points, we establish the $L^{p}\rightarrow L^{q}$ …
In stochastic partial differential equations it is important to have pathwise regularity properties of stochastic convolutions. In this note we present a new sufficient condition for the pathwise continuity of stochastic convolutions in Banach spaces.
The aim of this paper is to get the product Lp-estimates, weighted estimates and two-weighted estimates for rough multilinear fractional integral operators and rough multi-sublinear fractional maximal operators, respectively. The author also studies two-weighted weak type estimate on product Lp (Rn) for rough multi-sublinear fractional maximal operators. In fact, this article is the rough kernel versions of [4, 5]' s results.
We prove $L^p\to L^q$ estimates for the local maximal operator associated with dilates of the Kóranyi sphere in Heisenberg groups. These estimates are sharp up to endpoints and imply new bounds on sparse domination for the corresponding global maximal operator. We also prove sharp $L^p\to L^q$ estimates for spherical means over the Korányi sphere, which can be used to improve the sparse domination bounds for the associated lacunary maximal operator.
We show that the discrete Hardy-Littlewood maximal functions associated with the Euclidean balls in $\mathbb Z^d$ with dyadic radii have bounds independent of the dimension on $\ell^p(\mathbb Z^d)$ for $p\in[2, \infty]$.
We show the pointwise convergence of the averages \[ \mathcal{A}_N f(x) = \frac{1}{\# \mathbf{B}_N} \sum_{n \in \mathbf{B}_N} f(x + n) \] for $f \in \ell^1(\mathbb{Z})$ where $\mathbf{B}_N = \mathbf{B} \cap [1, N]$, and $\mathbf{B}$ is a $1$-regular sequence of integers, for example $\mathbf{B} = \{\lfloor n \log n \rfloor : n \in \mathbb{N}\}$.
In this paper, we study the boundedness theory for maximal Calderón-Zygmund operators acting on noncommutative $L_p$-spaces. Our first result is a criterion for the weak type $(1,1)$ estimate of noncommutative maximal Calderón-Zygmund operators; as an application, we obtain the weak type $(1,1)$ estimates of operator-valued maximal singular integrals of convolution type under proper {regularity} conditions. These are the {\it first} noncommutative maximal inequalities for families of linear operators that can not be reduced to positive ones. For homogeneous singular integrals, the strong type …

In this paper, we prove global-in-time $\dot{\mathrm{H}}^{α,q}$-maximal regularity for a class of injective, but not invertible, sectorial operators on a UMD Banach space X , provided $q\in(1,+\infty) , $α\in(-1+1/q,1/q)$. We also prove the corresponding trace estimate, so that the solution to the canonical abstract Cauchy problem is continuous with values in a not necessarily complete trace space. In order to put our result in perspective, we also provide a short review on L q-maximal regularity which includes some recent advances such as the revisited homogeneous operator and interpolation th…
Recently, Auscher and Axelsson gave a new approach to non-smooth boundary value problems with $L^{2}$ data, that relies on some appropriate weighted maximal regularity estimates. As part of the development of the corresponding $L^{p}$ theory, we prove here the relevant weighted maximal estimates in tent spaces $T^{p,2}$ for $p$ in a certain open range. We also study the case $p=\infty$.
We give an abstract argument that an a priori Fourier restriction estimate for a certain choice of exponents automatically implies maximal and variational Fourier restriction estimates. These, in turn, provide pointwise and quantitative interpretations of restriction of the Fourier transform to the hypersurface in question.
In this paper we pursue the study of the problem of controlling the maximal singular integral $T^{*}f$ by the singular integral $Tf$. Here $T$ is a smooth homogeneous Calderón-Zygmund singular integral of convolution type. We consider two forms of control, namely, in the $L^2(\Rn)$ norm and via pointwise estimates of $T^{*}f$ by $M(Tf)$ or $M^2(Tf)$, where $M$ is the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator and $M^2=M \circ M$ its iteration. It is known that the parity of the kernel plays an essential role in this question. In a previous article we considered the case of even kernels and here we deal…
We prove weighted estimates for the maximal regularity operator. Such estimates were motivated by boundary value problems. We take this opportunity to study a class of weak solutions to the abstract Cauchy problem. We also give a new proof of maximal regularity for closed and maximal accretive operators following from Kato's inequality for fractional powers and almost orthogonality arguments.
In continuation of a former work by the first author with F. Nier (2009) and of a more recent work by the second author on the torus (2019), we consider the Kramers-Fokker-Planck operator (KFP) with an external electromagnetic field on R d. We show a maximal type estimate on this operator using a nilpotent approach for vector field polynomial operators and induced representations of a nilpotent graded Lie algebra. This estimate leads to an optimal characterization of the domain of the closure of the KFP operator and a criterion for the compactness of the resolvent.
In this paper maximal commutators and commutators of maximal functions with functions of bounded mean oscillation are investigated. New pointwise estimates for them are proved.
