We obtain sharp estimates for the localized distribution function of Mϕ, when ϕbelongs to Lp,\inf where M is the dyadic maximal operator. We obtain these estimates given the L1 and Lq norm, q < p and certain weak Lp-conditions.
We prove a sharp integral inequality for the dyadic maximal operator and give as an application another proof for the computation of its Bellman function of three variables.
We prove that for any weight $ϕ$ defined on $[0,1]^n$ that satisfies a reverse Holder inequality with exponent p > 1 and constant $c\ge1$ upon all dyadic subcubes of $[0,1]^n$, it's non increasing rearrangement satisfies a reverse Holder inequality with the same exponent and constant not more than $2^nc-2^n + 1$, upon all subintervals of $[0; 1]$ of the form $[0; t]$. This gives as a consequence, according to the results in [8], an interval $[p; p_0(p; c)) = I{p,c}$, such that for any $q \in I{p,c}$, we have that $ϕ$ is in $L^q$.
We compute the Bellman function of three integral variables associated to the dyadic maximal operator on a subset of its domain. Additionally, we provide an upper bound for the whole domain of its definition.
We consider BMO spaces of operator-valued functions, among them the space of operator-valued functions $B$ which define a bounded paraproduct on $L^2(H)$. We obtain several equivalent formulations of $\|π_B\|$ in terms of the norm of the "sweep" function of $B$ or of averages of the norms of martingales transforms of $B$ in related spaces. Furthermore, we investigate a connection between John-Nirenberg type inequalities and Carleson-type inequalities via a product formula for paraproducts and deduce sharp dimensional estimates for John-Nirenberg type inequalities.
We precisely evaluate Bellman type functions for the dyadic maximal opeator on $R^n$ and of maximal operators on martingales related to local Lorentz type estimates. Using a type of symmetrization principle, introduced for the dyadic maximal operator in earlier works of the authors we precisely evaluate the supremum of the Lorentz quasinorm of the maximal operator on a function $ϕ$ when the integral of $ϕ$ is fixed and also the same Lorentz quasinorm of $ϕ$ is fixed. Also we find the corresponding supremum when the integral of $ϕ$ is fixed and several weak type conditions are given.
Using Wilson's Haar basis in $\R^n$, which is different than the usual tensor product Haar functions, we define its associated dyadic paraproduct in $\R^n$. We can then extend "trivially" Beznosova's Bellman function proof of the linear bound in $L^2(w)$ with respect to $[w]_{A_2}$ for the 1-dimensional dyadic paraproduct. Here trivial means that each piece of the argument that had a Bellman function proof has an $n$-dimensional counterpart that holds with the same Bellman function. The lemma that allows for this painless extension we call the good Bellman function Lemma. Furthermore the argum…
We prove a sharp integral inequality for the dyadic maximal operator due to which the evaluation of the Bellman function of this operator with respect to two variables is possible, as can be seen in [3]. Our inequality of interest is proved in this article by a simpler and more immediate way. We also study a stability result in connection with this inequality, that is we provide a necessary and sufficient condition, for a sequence of functions, under which we obtain equality in the limit. The proof of this result is based on the proof of the related inequality which we present in this article.
We study trace inequalities of the type $$ \| T_k f\|_{L^q(dμ)}\leq C \|f\|_{L^p(dσ)}, \qquad f \in L^p(dσ), $$ in the ``upper triangle case'' $1 \leq q<p$ for integral operators $T_k$ with positive kernels, where $dσ$ and $dμ$ are positive Borel measures on $\R^n$. Our main tool is a generalization of Th. Wolff's inequality which gives two-sided estimates of the energy ${\mathcal E}_{k, σ} [μ]=\int_{\R^n} (T_k [μ])^{p'} d σ$ through the $L^1(dμ)$-norm of an appropriate nonlinear potential $W_{k, σ}[μ]$ associated with the kernel $k$ and measures $dμ$, $d σ$. We initially work with a dyadic in…
We prove a sharp integral inequality which connects the dyadic maximal operator with the Hardy operator. We also give some applications of this inequality.
We provide sharp weak estimates for the distribution function of Mϕwhen on ϕwe impose L1, Lq and Lp,1 restrictions. Here M is the dyadic maximal operator associated to a tree T on a non-atomic probability measure space.
Properties of a maximal function for vector-valued martingales were studied by the author in an earlier paper. Restricting here to the dyadic setting, we prove the equivalence between (weighted) L^p inequalities and weak type estimates, and discuss an extension to the case of locally finite Borel measures on R^n. In addition, to compensate for the lack of an L^\infty inequality, we derive a suitable BMO estimate. Different dyadic systems in different dimensions are also considered.
We introduce atoms for dyadic atomic $H^1$ for which the equivalence between atomic and maximal function defnitions is dimension independent. We give the sharp, up to $\log(d)$ factor, estimates for the $H^1 \to L^1$ norm estimates for the special maximal function.
We give a new proof of the sharp weighted $L^2$ inequality ||T||_{L^2(w)} \leq c [w]_{A_2} where $T$ is the Hilbert transform, a Riesz transform, the Beurling-Ahlfors operator or any operator that can be approximated by Haar shift operators. Our proof avoids the Bellman function technique and two weight norm inequalities. We use instead a recent result due to A. Lerner to estimate the oscillation of dyadic operators.
We investigate a scale of dyadic operator-valued BMO spaces, corresponding to the different yet equivalent characterizations of dyadic BMO in the scalar case. In the language of operator spaces, we investigate different operator space structures on the scalar dyadic BMO space which arise naturally from the different characterisations of scalar BMO. We also give sharp dimensional growth estimates for the sweep of functions and its bilinear extension in some of those different dyadic BMO spaces.
We prove that the decreasing rearrangement of a dyadic A1 weight w with dyadic A1 constant [w]_{1,T}=c with respect to a tree T of homogeneity k,on a non-atomic probability space, is a usual A1 weight on (0,1] with A1 constant not more than kc-k+1.We prove also that the result is sharp, when one considers all such weights w.
Dyadic shifts of point distributions in the multi-dimensional unit cube are considered as a randomization. Explicit formulas for the discrepancies of such randomized distributions are given in the paper in terms of Rademacher functions. Relaying on the statistical independence of Rademacher functions, Khinchin's inequalities, and other related results, we obtain very sharp upper and lower bounds for the mean discrepancies.
We provide a quantitative two weight estimate for the dyadic paraproduct $π_b$ under certain conditions on a pair of weights $(u;v)$ and $b$ in $Carl_{u,v}$, a new class of functions that we show coincides with BMO when $u = v \in A^d_2$. We obtain quantitative two weight estimates for the dyadic square function and the martingale transforms under the assumption that the maximal function is bounded from $L_2(u)$ into $L_2(v)$ and $v \in RH^d_1$. Finally we obtain a quantitative two weight estimate from $L_2(u)$ into $L_2(v)$ for the dyadic square function under the assumption that the pair $(u…
Exploiting the mass transportation method, we prove a dual principle which implies directly the sharp Gagliardo-Nirenberg trace inequalities which was recently proved by Bolley et al. [BCFGG17]. Moreover, we determine all optimal functions for these obtained sharp Gagliardo-Nirenberg trace inequalities. This settles a question left open in [BCFGG17]. Finally, we use the sharp Gagliardo--Nirenberg trace inequality to establish their affine versions (i.e., the sharp affine Gagliardo-Nirenberg trace inequalities) which generalize a recent result of De Nápoli et al. [DeNapoli]. It was shown that t…
We first establish a family of sharp Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg type inequalities on the Euclidean spaces and then extend them to the setting of Cartan-Hadamard manifolds with the same best constant. The quantitative version of these inequalities also are proved by adding a non-negative remainder term in terms of the sectional curvature of manifolds. We next prove several rigidity results for complete Riemannian manifolds supporting the Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg type inequalities with the same sharp constant as in $\mathbb R^n$ (shortly, sharp CKN inequalities). Our results illustrate the influ…
We establish sharp affine weighted $L^p$ Sobolev type inequalities by using the $L_p$ Busemann-Petty centroid inequality proved by Lutwak, Yang and Zhang. Our approach consists in combining in a convenient way the latter one with a suitable family of sharp weighted $L^p$ Sobolev type inequalities obtained by Nguyen and allows to characterize all extremizers in some cases. The new inequalities don't rely on any euclidean geometric structure.
We consider functions L_p-integrable with Jacobi weights on [-1,1] and prove Hardy--Littlewood type inequalities for fractional integrals. As applications, we obtain the sharp (L_p, L_q) Ulyanov-type inequalities for the Ditzian--Totik moduli of smoothness and the K-functionals of fractional order.
In this paper, we derive a new proof on some sharp double integral inequalities of the Hermite-Hadamard type. Our approach is mainly based on well-known Taylor's theorem with the integral remainder.
We prove Davis and Garsia Inequalities for dyadic perturbations of Hardy Martingales. We apply those to estimate the $L^1 $ distance of a dyadic martingale to the class of Hardy martingales. We revisit Bourgains embedding of $L^1$ into the quotient space $ L^1 / H^1 . $
We present several sharp upper bounds and some extension for product operators. Among other inequalities, it is shown that if , , are non-negative continuous functions on such that , , then for all non-negative operator monotone decreasing function on , we obtain that As an application of the above inequality, it is shown that where, and .
We establish sharp Adams type inequalities on Sobolev spaces $W^{α, n/α}(X)$ of any fractional order $α< n$ on Riemannian symmetric space $X$ of noncompact type with dimension $n$ and of arbitrary rank. We also establish sharp Hardy-Adams inequalities on the Sobolev spaces $W^{n/2, 2}(X)$. For the real hyperbolic spaces, such results were recently obtained by J. Li et al. (Trans. AMS, 2020). We use Fourier analysis on the symmetric spaces to obtain these results.
The optimal constants in a class of exponential type inequalities for the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck operator in the Gauss space are detected. The existence of extremal functions in the relevant inequalities is also established. Our results disclose analogies and dissimilarities in comparison with Adams' inequality for the Laplace operator, a companion of our inequalities in the Euclidean space.
We prove several interesting equalities for the integrals of higher order derivatives on the homogeneous groups. As consequences, we obtain the sharp Hardy--Rellich type inequalities for higher order derivatives including both the subcritical and critical inequalities on the homogeneous groups. We also prove several uncertainty principles on the homogeneous groups. Our results seem to be new even in the case of Euclidean space $\mathbb R^n$ and give a simple proof of several classical Hardy--Rellich type inequalities in $\mathbb R^n$.
In a recent paper, E. Carlen and A. Figalli prove a stability estimate - also known as a quantitative inequality - for a sharp Gagliardo-Nirenberg inequality and use this result to solve a Keller-Segal Equation. The Gagliardo-Nirenberg Inequality that Carlen and Figalli prove their stability estimate for is part of a larger family of sharp Gagliardo-Nirenberg inequalities, for which the sharp constants and extremals were identified in some cases by Carrillo and Toscani, and then for the remaining cases by Del Pino and Dolbeault. We prove a stability estimate for the entire family of sharp Gagl…
New sharp multiplicative reverses of the operator means inequalities are presented, with a simple discussion of squaring an operator inequality. As a direct consequence, we extend the operator Pólya-Szegö inequality to arbitrary operator means. Furthermore, we obtain some new lower and upper bounds for the Tsallis relative operator entropy, operator monotone functions and positive linear maps.
In this paper, we study the sharp Poincaré inequality and the Sobolev inequalities in the higher order Lorentz--Sobolev spaces in the hyperbolic spaces. These results generalize the ones obtained in \cite{Nguyen2020a} to the higher order derivatives and seem to be new in the context of the Lorentz--Sobolev spaces defined in the hyperbolic spaces.
We give in this short paper the exact value for norms of two operators of Hardy-Sobolev type acting between two weight Grand Lebesgue Space (GLS) based on the whole multidimensional Euclidean space.
A family of sharp $L^p$ Sobolev inequalities is established by averaging the length of $i$-dimensional projections of the gradient of a function. Moreover, it is shown that each of these new inequalities directly implies the classical $L^p$ Sobolev inequality of Aubin and Talenti and that the strongest member of this family is the only affine invariant one among them -- the affine $L^p$ Sobolev inequality of Lutwak, Yang, and Zhang. When $p = 1$, the entire family of new Sobolev inequalities is extended to functions of bounded variation to also allow for a complete classification of all extrem…
By adapting the mass transportation technique of Cordero-Erausquin, Nazaret and Villani, we obtain a family of sharp Sobolev and Gagliardo-Nirenberg (GN) inequalities on the half space $\mathbf{R}^{n-1}\times\mathbf{R}_+$, $n\geq 1$ equipped with the weight $ω(x) = x_n^a$, $a\geq 0$. It amounts to work with the fractional dimension $n_a = n+a$. The extremal functions in the weighted Sobolev inequalities are fully characterized. Using a dimension reduction argument and the weighted Sobolev inequalities, we can reproduce a subfamily of the sharp GN inequalities on the Euclidean space due to Del …
Let $S$ be the Lie group $\mathrm{R}^n\ltimes \mathrm{R}^+$ endowed with the left-invariant Riemannian symmetric space structure and the right Haar measure $ρ$, which is a Lie group of exponential growth. Hebisch and Steger in [Math. Z. 245(2003), 37--61] proved that any integrable function on $(S,ρ)$ admits a Calderón--Zygmund decomposition which involves a particular family of sets, called Calderón--Zygmund sets. In this paper, we first show the existence of a dyadic grid in the group $S$, which has {nice} properties similar to the classical Euclidean dyadic cubes. Using the properties of th…
We give necessary and sufficient conditions in order that inequalities of the type $$ \| T_K f\|_{L^q(dμ)}\leq C \|f\|_{L^p(dσ)}, \qquad f \in L^p(dσ), $$ hold for a class of integral operators $T_K f(x) = \int_{R^n} K(x, y) f(y) d σ(y)$ with nonnegative kernels, and measures $d μ$ and $dσ$ on $\R^n$, in the case where $p>q>0$ and $p>1$. An important model is provided by the dyadic integral operator with kernel $K_{\mathcal D}(x, y) \sum_{Q\in{\mathcal D}} K(Q) χ_Q(x) χ_Q(y)$, where $\mathcal D=\{Q\}$ is the family of all dyadic cubes in $\R^n$, and $K(Q)$ are arbitrary nonnegative constants a…
In this paper, we will study concentration inequalities for Banach space-valued martingales. Firstly, we prove that a Banach space $X$ is linearly isomorphic to a $p$-uniformly smooth space ($1<p\leq 2$) if and only if an Azuma-type inequality holds for $X$-valued martingales. This can be viewed as a generalization of Pinelis' work on Azuma inequality for martingales with values in $2$-uniformly smooth space. Secondly, Azuma-type inequality for self-normalized sums will be presented. Finally, some further inequalities for Banach space-valued martingales, such as moment inequalities for double …
We give a new proof of the sharp one weight $L^p$ inequality for any operator $T$ that can be approximated by Haar shift operators such as the Hilbert transform, any Riesz transform, the Beurling-Ahlfors operator. Our proof avoids the Bellman function technique and two weight norm inequalities. We use instead a recent result due to A. Lerner to estimate the oscillation of dyadic operators. Our method is flexible enough to prove the corresponding sharp one-weight norm inequalities for some operators of harmonic analysis: the maximal singular integrals associated to $T$, Dyadic square functions …
We derive sharp Sobolev inequalities for Sobolev spaces on metric spaces. In particular, we obtain new sharp Sobolev embeddings and Faber-Krahn estimates for Hörmander vector fields.
Using Fourier analysis, we derive Wirtinger-type inequalities of arbitrary high order. As applications, we prove various sharp geometric inequalities for closed curves on the Euclidean plane. In particular, we obtain both sharp lower and upper bounds for the isoperimetric deficit.
Given a general dyadic grid ${\mathscr{D}}$ and a sparse family of cubes ${\mathcal S}=\{Q_j^k\}\in {\mathscr{D}}$, define a dyadic positive operator ${\mathcal A}_{\mathscr{D},{\mathcal S}}$ by $${\mathcal A}_{\mathscr{D},{\mathcal S}}f(x)=\sum_{j,k}f_{Q_j^k}χ_{Q_j^k}(x).$$ Given a Banach function space $X({\mathbb R}^n)$ and the maximal Calderón-Zygmund operator $T_{\natural}$, we show that $$\|T_{\natural}f\|_X\le c(n,T)\sup_{\mathscr{D},{\mathcal S}}\|{\mathcal A}_{\mathscr{D},{\mathcal S}}f\|_{X}.$$ This result is applied to weighted inequalities. In particular, it implies: (i) the "two-w…
We prove sharp maximal inequalities for $L^q$-valued stochastic integrals with respect to any Hilbert space-valued local martingale. Our proof relies on new Burkholder-Rosenthal type inequalities for martingales taking values in an $L^q$-space.
We derive the sharp constants for the inequalities on the Heisenberg group H^n whose analogues on Euclidean space R^n are the well known Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequalities. Only one special case had been known previously, due to Jerison-Lee more than twenty years ago. From these inequalities we obtain the sharp constants for their duals, which are the Sobolev inequalities for the Laplacian and conformally invariant fractional Laplacians. By considering limiting cases of these inequalities sharp constants for the analogues of the Onofri and log-Sobolev inequalities on H^n are obtained. The m…
We prove sharp inequalities of Hardy type for functions in the Sobolev space $W^{1,p}$ on the unit sphere $\mathbb{S}^{n-1}$ in $\mathbb{R}^{n}$. We achieve this in both the subcritical and critical cases. The method we use to show optimality takes into account all the constants involved in our inequalities.
Motivared by Carleman's proof of the isoperimetric inequality in the plane, we study some sharp integral inequalities for harmonic functions on the upper halfspace. We also derive the regularity for nonnegative solutions of the associated integral system and some Liouville type theorems.
This paper is a second one following our work [CLZ13] in series, considering sharp Hardy- Littlewood-Sobolev inequalities on groups of Heisenberg type. The first important breakthrough was made by Frank and Lieb in [FL12]. In this paper, analogous results are obtained for octonionic Heisenberg group.
We find a new sharp trace Gagliardo-Nirenberg-Sobolev inequality on convex cones, aswell as a weighted sharp trace Sobolev inequality on epigraphs of convex functions. This is done by using a generalized Borell-Brascamp-Lieb inequality, coming from the Brunn-Minkowski theory.
We derive the sharp Moser-Trudinger-Onofri inequalities on the standard $n$-sphere and CR $(2n+1)$- sphere as the limit of the sharp fractional Sobolev inequalities for all $n\ge 1$. On the $2$-sphere and $4$-sphere, this was established recently by S.-Y. Chang and F. Wang. Our proof uses an alternative and elementary argument.
We determine the sharp constant in the Hardy inequality for fractional Sobolev spaces on half-spaces. Our proof relies on a non-linear and non-local version of the ground state representation.
Using some harmonic extensions on the upper-half plane, and probabilistic representations, and curvature-dimension inequalities with some negative dimensions, we obtain some new opimal functional inequalities of the Beckner type for the Cauchy type distributions on the Euclidean space. These optimal inequalities appear to be equivalent to some non tight optimal Beckner inequalities on the sphere, and the family appear to be a new form of the Sobolev inequality.
