We study trace inequalities of the type $$ \| T_k f\|_{L^q(dμ)}\leq C \|f\|_{L^p(dσ)}, \qquad f \in L^p(dσ), $$ in the ``upper triangle case'' $1 \leq q<p$ for integral operators $T_k$ with positive kernels, where $dσ$ and $dμ$ are positive Borel measures on $\R^n$. Our main tool is a generalization of Th. Wolff's inequality which gives two-sided estimates of the energy ${\mathcal E}_{k, σ} [μ]=\int_{\R^n} (T_k [μ])^{p'} d σ$ through the $L^1(dμ)$-norm of an appropriate nonlinear potential $W_{k, σ}[μ]$ associated with the kernel $k$ and measures $dμ$, $d σ$. We initially work with a dyadic integral operator with kernel $K_{\mathcal D}(x, y) = \sum_{Q\in{\mathcal D}} K(Q) χ_Q(x) χ_Q(y)$, where $\mathcal D=\{Q\}$ is the family of all dyadic cubes in $\R^n$, and $K:
{\mathcal D}\to \R^+$. The corresponding continuous versions of Wolff's inequality and trace inequalities are derived from their dyadic counterparts.
Using Wilson's Haar basis in $\R^n$, which is different than the usual tensor product Haar functions, we define its associated dyadic paraproduct in $\R^n$. We can then extend "trivially" Beznosova's Bellman function proof of the linear bound in $L^2(w)$ with respect to $[w]_{A_2}$ for the 1-dimensional dyadic paraproduct. Here trivial means that each piece of the argument that had a Bellman function proof has an $n$-dimensional counterpart that holds with the same Bellman function. The lemma that allows for this painless extension we call the good Bellman function Lemma. Furthermore the argum…
We obtain sharp estimates for the localized distribution function of Mϕ, when ϕbelongs to Lp,\inf where M is the dyadic maximal operator. We obtain these estimates given the L1 and Lq norm, q < p and certain weak Lp-conditions.
We prove that for any weight $ϕ$ defined on $[0,1]^n$ that satisfies a reverse Holder inequality with exponent p > 1 and constant $c\ge1$ upon all dyadic subcubes of $[0,1]^n$, it's non increasing rearrangement satisfies a reverse Holder inequality with the same exponent and constant not more than $2^nc-2^n + 1$, upon all subintervals of $[0; 1]$ of the form $[0; t]$. This gives as a consequence, according to the results in [8], an interval $[p; p_0(p; c)) = I{p,c}$, such that for any $q \in I{p,c}$, we have that $ϕ$ is in $L^q$.
In this paper, we study function spaces defined via dyadic energies on the boundaries of regular trees. We show that correct choices of dyadic energies result in Besov-type spaces that are trace spaces of (weighted) first order Sobolev spaces.
We consider BMO spaces of operator-valued functions, among them the space of operator-valued functions $B$ which define a bounded paraproduct on $L^2(H)$. We obtain several equivalent formulations of $\|π_B\|$ in terms of the norm of the "sweep" function of $B$ or of averages of the norms of martingales transforms of $B$ in related spaces. Furthermore, we investigate a connection between John-Nirenberg type inequalities and Carleson-type inequalities via a product formula for paraproducts and deduce sharp dimensional estimates for John-Nirenberg type inequalities.
In this paper, we study the traces of Orlicz-Sobolev spaces on a regular rooted tree. After giving a dyadic decomposition of the boundary of the regular tree, we present a characterization on the trace spaces of those first order Orlicz-Sobolev spaces whose Young function is of the form $t^p\log^λ(e+t)$, based on integral averages on dyadic elements of the dyadic decomposition.
We give a new proof of the sharp weighted $L^2$ inequality ||T||_{L^2(w)} \leq c [w]_{A_2} where $T$ is the Hilbert transform, a Riesz transform, the Beurling-Ahlfors operator or any operator that can be approximated by Haar shift operators. Our proof avoids the Bellman function technique and two weight norm inequalities. We use instead a recent result due to A. Lerner to estimate the oscillation of dyadic operators.
We give necessary and sufficient conditions in order that inequalities of the type $$ \| T_K f\|_{L^q(dμ)}\leq C \|f\|_{L^p(dσ)}, \qquad f \in L^p(dσ), $$ hold for a class of integral operators $T_K f(x) = \int_{R^n} K(x, y) f(y) d σ(y)$ with nonnegative kernels, and measures $d μ$ and $dσ$ on $\R^n$, in the case where $p>q>0$ and $p>1$. An important model is provided by the dyadic integral operator with kernel $K_{\mathcal D}(x, y) \sum_{Q\in{\mathcal D}} K(Q) χ_Q(x) χ_Q(y)$, where $\mathcal D=\{Q\}$ is the family of all dyadic cubes in $\R^n$, and $K(Q)$ are arbitrary nonnegative constants a…
Given a general dyadic grid ${\mathscr{D}}$ and a sparse family of cubes ${\mathcal S}=\{Q_j^k\}\in {\mathscr{D}}$, define a dyadic positive operator ${\mathcal A}_{\mathscr{D},{\mathcal S}}$ by $${\mathcal A}_{\mathscr{D},{\mathcal S}}f(x)=\sum_{j,k}f_{Q_j^k}χ_{Q_j^k}(x).$$ Given a Banach function space $X({\mathbb R}^n)$ and the maximal Calderón-Zygmund operator $T_{\natural}$, we show that $$\|T_{\natural}f\|_X\le c(n,T)\sup_{\mathscr{D},{\mathcal S}}\|{\mathcal A}_{\mathscr{D},{\mathcal S}}f\|_{X}.$$ This result is applied to weighted inequalities. In particular, it implies: (i) the "two-w…
In this article we generalize the classical Sobolev's and Sobolev's trace inequalities on the Grand Lebesgue Spaces instead the classical Lebesgue Spaces. We will distinguish the classical Sobolev's inequality and the so-called trace Sobolev's inequality. We consider for simplicity only the case of whole space.
We give a new proof of the sharp one weight $L^p$ inequality for any operator $T$ that can be approximated by Haar shift operators such as the Hilbert transform, any Riesz transform, the Beurling-Ahlfors operator. Our proof avoids the Bellman function technique and two weight norm inequalities. We use instead a recent result due to A. Lerner to estimate the oscillation of dyadic operators. Our method is flexible enough to prove the corresponding sharp one-weight norm inequalities for some operators of harmonic analysis: the maximal singular integrals associated to $T$, Dyadic square functions …
We prove Davis and Garsia Inequalities for dyadic perturbations of Hardy Martingales. We apply those to estimate the $L^1 $ distance of a dyadic martingale to the class of Hardy martingales. We revisit Bourgains embedding of $L^1$ into the quotient space $ L^1 / H^1 . $
We prove a trace Hardy type inequality with the best constant on the polyhedral convex cones which generalizes recent results of Alvino et al. and of Tzirakis on the upper half space. We also prove some trace Hardy-Sobolev-Maz'ya type inequalities which generalize the recent results of Filippas et al.. In applications, we derive some Hardy type inequalities and Hardy-Sobolev-Maz'ya type inequalities for fractional Laplacian. Finally, we prove the logarithmic Sobolev trace inequalities and logarithmic Hardy trace inequalities on the upper half spaces. The best constants in these inequalities ar…
We prove continuity and surjectivity of the trace map onto $L_p$, from a space of functions of locally bounded variation, defined by the Carleson functional. The extension map is constructed through a stopping time argument. This extends earlier work by Varopoulos in the BMO case, related to the Corona theorem. We also prove $L_p$ Carleson approximability results for solutions to elliptic non-smooth divergence form equations, which generalize results in the case $p=\infty$ by Hofmann, Kenig, Mayboroda and Pipher.
Some new trace inequalities for operators in Hilbert spaces are provided. The superadditivity and monotonicity of some associated functionals are investigated and applications for power series of such operators are given. Some trace inequalities for matrices are also derived. Examples for the operator exponential and other similar functions are presented as well.
Exploiting the mass transportation method, we prove a dual principle which implies directly the sharp Gagliardo-Nirenberg trace inequalities which was recently proved by Bolley et al. [BCFGG17]. Moreover, we determine all optimal functions for these obtained sharp Gagliardo-Nirenberg trace inequalities. This settles a question left open in [BCFGG17]. Finally, we use the sharp Gagliardo--Nirenberg trace inequality to establish their affine versions (i.e., the sharp affine Gagliardo-Nirenberg trace inequalities) which generalize a recent result of De Nápoli et al. [DeNapoli]. It was shown that t…
We prove a matrix trace inequality for completely monotone functions and for Bernstein functions. As special cases we obtain non-trivial trace inequalities for the power function x->x^q, which for certain values of q complement McCarthy's trace inequality and for others strenghten it.
By the use of the celebrated Kato's inequality we obtain in this paper some new inequalities for trace class operators on a complex Hilbert space H. Natural applications for functions defined by power series of normal operators are given as well.
We generalize in this article the classical Sobolev's and Sobolev's trace inequalities on the Grand Lebesgue Spaces under monomial weight instead the classical Lebesgue or grand Lebesgue Spaces. We will distinguish the classical Sobolev's inequality and the so-called trace Sobolev's inequality.
We prove a logarithmic Sobolev trace inequality in a gaussian space and we study the trace operator in the weighted Sobolev space W^{1,p}(Ω,γ) for sufficiently regular domain. We exhibit examples to show the sharpness of the results. Applications to PDE are also considered.
We prove boundary inequalities in arbitrary bounded Lipschitz domains on the trace space of Sobolev spaces. For that, we make use of the trace operator, its Moore-Penrose inverse, and of a special inner product. We show that our trace inequalities are particularly useful to prove harmonic inequalities, which serve as powerful tools to characterize the harmonic functions on Sobolev spaces of non-integer order.
We study in this article the Improved Sobolev inequalities with Muckenhoupt weights within the framework of stratified Lie groups. This family of inequalities estimate the Lq norm of a function by the geometric mean of two norms corresponding to Sobolev spaces W(s;p) and Besov spaces B(-b, infty, infty). When the value p which characterizes Sobolev space is strictly larger than 1, the required result is well known in R^n and is classically obtained by a Littlewood-Paley dyadic blocks manipulation. For these inequalities we will develop here another totally different technique. When p = 1, thes…
Some inequalities for quantum f-divergence of trace class operators in Hilbert spaces are obtained. It is shown that for normalised convex functions it is nonnegative. Some upper bounds for quantum f-divergence in terms of variational and chi-distance are provided. Applications for some classes of divergence measures such as Umegaki and Tsallis relative entropies are also given.
We first present a determinant inequality related to partial traces for positive semidefinite block matrices. Our result extends a result of Lin [Czech. Math. J. 66 (2016)] and improves a result of Kuai [Linear Multilinear Algebra 66 (2018)]. Moreover, we provide a unified treatment of a result of Ando [ILAS Conference (2014)] and a recent result of Li, Liu and Huang [Operators and Matrices 15 (2021)]. Furthermore, we also extend some determinant inequalities involving partial traces to a larger class of matrices whose numerical ranges are contained in a sector. In addition, some extensions on…
We generalize von Neumann's well-known trace inequality, as well as related eigenvalue inequalities for hermitian matrices, to Schatten-class operators between complex Hilbert spaces of infinite dimension. To this end, we exploit some recent results on the $C$-numerical range of Schatten-class operators. For the readers' convenience, we sketched the proof of these results in the Appendix.
We find a new sharp trace Gagliardo-Nirenberg-Sobolev inequality on convex cones, aswell as a weighted sharp trace Sobolev inequality on epigraphs of convex functions. This is done by using a generalized Borell-Brascamp-Lieb inequality, coming from the Brunn-Minkowski theory.
Let $\mathfrak{M}$ be a semifinite von Neumann algebra on a Hilbert space equipped with a faithful normal semifinite trace $τ$. A closed densely defined operator $x$ affiliated with $\mathfrak{M}$ is called $τ$-measurable if there exists a number $λ\geq 0$ such that $τ\left(e^{|x|}(λ,\infty)\right)<\infty$. A number of useful inequalities, which are known for the trace on Hilbert space operators, are extended to trace on $τ$-measurable operators. In particular, these inequalities imply Clarkson inequalities for $n$-tuples of $τ$-measurable operators. A general parallelogram law for $τ$-measura…
In this paper, we first present simple proofs of Choi's results [4], then we give a short alternative proof for Fiedler and Markham's inequality [6]. We also obtain additional matrix inequalities related to partial determinants.
In this paper we show that for a non-negative operator monotone function $f$ on $[0, \infty)$ such that $f(0)= 0$ and for any positive semidefinite matrices $A$ and $B$, $$ Tr((A-B)(f(A)-f(B))) \le Tr(|A-B|f(|A-B|)). $$ When the function $f$ is operator convex on $[0, \infty)$, the inequality is reversed.
A form of Sobolev inequalities for the symmetric gradient of vector-valued functions is proposed, which allows for arbitrary ground domains in $\mathbb R ^n$. In the relevant inequalities, boundary regularity of domains is replaced with information on boundary traces of trial functions. The inequalities so obtained exhibit the same exponents as in classical inequalities for the full gradient of Sobolev functions, in regular domains. Furthermore, they involve constants independent of the geometry of the domain, and hence yield novel results yet for smooth domains. Our approach relies upon a poi…
Let $S_α$ be the multilinear square function defined on the cone with aperture $α\geq 1$. In this paper, we investigate several kinds of weighted norm inequalities for $S_α$. We first obtain a sharp weighted estimate in terms of aperture $α$ and $\vec{w} \in A_{\vec{p}}$. By means of some pointwise estimates, we also establish two-weight inequalities including bump and entropy bump estimates, and Fefferman-Stein inequalities with arbitrary weights. Beyond that, we consider the mixed weak type estimates corresponding Sawyer's conjecture, for which a Coifman-Fefferman inequality with the precise…
In this paper, we introduce the concept of operator geometrically convex functions for positive linear operators and prove some Hermite-Hadamard type inequalities for these functions. As applications, we obtain trace inequalities for operators which give some refinements of previous results.
In this paper we investigate Poincaré-type integral inequalities in the functional Musielak structure. We extend the ones already well known in Sobolev, Orlicz and variable exponent Sobolev spaces. We introduce conditions on the Musielak functions under which they hold. The identification with null trace functions space is given.
The paper deals with trace operators of Wiener amalgam spaces using frequency-uniform decomposition operators and maximal inequalities, obtaining sharp results. Additionally, we provide the embeddings between standard and anisotropic Wiener amalgam spaces.
In this paper, we introduce the concept of operator arithmetic-geometrically convex functions for positive linear operators and prove some Hermite-Hadamard type inequalities for these functions. As applications, we obtain trace inequalities for operators which give some refinements of previous results. Moreover, some unitarily invariant norm inequalities are established.
We give analytic description for the completion of $C_0^\infty ( \mathbf{R}_+)$ in Dirichlet space $D^{1,p}(\mathbf{R}_+, ω):= \{ u:\mathbf{R}_+\rightarrow \mathbf{R}: u\ \hbox{ is locally absolutely continuous on} \ \mathbf{R}_+ \ {\rm and}\ \| u^{'}\|_{L^p(\mathbf{R}_+, ω)}<\infty \}$, for given continuous weight $ω$, in terms of the local $B_p$ conditions due to Kufner and Opic, where $1<p<\infty$. Moreover, we propose applications of our results to: analysis of Hardy inequalities, boundary value problems, complex interpolation theory, and to derivation of new Morrey type inequalities.
The classical Sobolev and Escobar inequalities are embedded into the same one-parameter family of sharp trace-Sobolev inequalities on half-spaces. Equality cases are characterized for each inequality in this family by tweaking a well-known mass transportation argument and lead to a new comparison theorem for trace Sobolev inequalities. The case $p=2$ corresponds to a family of variational problems on conformally flat metrics which was previously settled by Carlen and Loss with their method of competing symmetries. In this case minimizers interpolate between conformally flat spherical and hyper…
