We introduce the first hom-associative Weyl algebras over a field of prime characteristic as a generalization of the first associative Weyl algebra in prime characteristic. First, we study properties of hom-associative algebras constructed from associative algebras by a general "twisting" procedure. Then, with the help of these results, we determine the commuter, center, nuclei, and set of derivations of the first hom-associative Weyl algebras. We also classify them up to isomorphism, and show, among other things, that all nonzero endomorphisms on them are injective, but not surjective. Last, we show that they can be described as a multi-parameter formal hom-associative deformation of the first associative Weyl algebra, and that this deformation induces a multi-parameter formal hom-Lie deformation of the corresponding Lie algebra, when using the commutator as bracket.
The first (associative) Weyl algebra is formally rigid in the classical sense. In this paper, we show that it can however be formally deformed in a nontrivial way when considered as a so-called hom-associative algebra, and that this deformation preserves properties such as the commuter, while deforming others, such as the center, power associativity, the set of derivations, and some commutation relations. We then show that this deformation induces a formal deformation of the corresponding Lie algebra into what is known as a hom-Lie algebra, when using the commutator as bracket. We also prove t…
A generalization of power associative algebra, called Hom-power associative algebra, is studied. The main result says that a multiplicative Hom-algebra is Hom-power associative if and only if it satisfies two identities of degrees three and four. It generalizes Albert's result that power associativity is equivalent to third and fourth power associativity. In particular, multiplicative right Hom-alternative algebras and non-commutative Hom-Jordan algebras are Hom-power associative.
In this paper, we consider compatible Hom-associative algebras as a twisted version of compatible associative algebras. Compatible Hom-associative algebras are characterized as Maurer-Cartan elements in a suitable bidifferential graded Lie algebra. We also define a cohomology theory for compatible Hom-associative algebras generalizing the classical case. As applications of cohomology, we study abelian extensions and deformations of compatible Hom-associative algebras.
From the definition and properties of unital hom-associative algebras, and the use of the Kaplansky's constructions, we develop new algebraic structures called 2-hom-associative bialgebras, 2-hom-bialgebras, and 2-2-hom-bialgebras. Besides, we devise a construction of hom-left symmetric dialgebras and discuss their main relevant properties.
The purpose of this paper is to study the structure and the algebraic varieties of Hom-associative algebras. We give characterize multiplicative simple Hom-associative algebras and show some examples deforming the $2\times 2$-matrix algebra to simple Hom-associative algebras. We provide a classification of $n$-dimensional Hom-associative algebras for $n\leq3$. Then study their derivations and compute small Hom-Type Hochschild cohomology groups. Furthermore, we discuss their irreducible components.
We introduce hom-associative Ore extensions as non-unital, non-associative Ore extensions with a hom-associative multiplication, and give some necessary and sufficient conditions when such exist. Within this framework, we construct families of hom-associative quantum planes, universal enveloping algebras of a Lie algebra, and Weyl algebras, all being hom-associative generalizations of their classical counterparts, as well as prove that the latter are simple. We also provide a way of embedding any multiplicative hom-associative algebra into a multiplicative, weakly unital hom-associative algebr…
A hom-associative algebra is an algebra whose associativity is twisted by an algebra homomorphism. It was previously shown by the author that the Hochschild cohomology of a hom-associative algebra $A$ carries a Gerstenhaber structure. In this short paper, we show that this Gerstenhaber structure together with certain operations on the Hochschild homology of $A$ makes a noncommutative differential calculus. As an application, we obtain a Batalin-Vilkovisky algebra structure on the Hochschild cohomology of a regular unital symmetric hom-associative algebra.
A hom-associative algebra is an algebra whose associativity is twisted by an algebra homomorphism. In this paper, we introduce a strongly homotopy version of hom-associative algebras ($HA_\infty$-algebras in short) on a graded vector space. We describe $2$-term $HA_\infty$-algebras in details. In particular, we study 'skeletal' and 'strict' $2$-term $HA_\infty$-algebras. We also introduce hom-associative $2$-algebras as categorification of hom-associative algebras. The category of $2$-term $HA_\infty$-algebras and the category of hom-associative $2$-algebras are shown to be equivalent. An appr…
Rota-Baxter systems were introduced by Brzeziński as a generalization of Rota-Baxter operators that are related to dendriform structures, associative Yang-Baxter pairs and covariant bialgebras. In this paper, we define Rota-Baxter systems on Hom-associative algebras and show how they induce Hom-dendriform structures and weak pseudotwistors on the underlying Hom-associative algebra. We introduce Hom-Yang-Baxter pairs and a notion of covariant Hom-bialgebra. Given a Hom-Yang-Baxter pair, we construct a twisted Rota-Baxter system and a (quasitriangular) covariant Hom-bialgebra. Finally, we consid…
In hom-associative structures, the associativity condition $(xy)z=x(yz)$ is twisted to $α(x)(yz) = (xy)α(z)$, with $α$ a map in the appropriate category. In the present paper, we consider two different unitality conditions for hom-associative algebras. The first one, existence of a unit in the classical sense, is stronger than the second one, which we call weak unitality. We show associativity conditions connected to the size of the image of the twisting map for unital hom-associative algebras. Also the problem of embedding arbitrary hom-associative algebras into unital or weakly unital ones i…
A hom-associative algebra is an algebra whose associativity is twisted by an algebra homomorphism. In this paper, we define a cup product on the cohomology of a hom-associative algebra. We show that the cup product together with the degree $-1$ graded Lie bracket (which controls the deformation of the hom-associative algebra structure) on the cohomology forms a Gerstenhaber algebra. This generalizes a classical fact that the Hochschild cohomology of an associative algebra carries a Gerstenhaber algebra structure.
We classify, up to isomorphism, the 2-dimensional algebras over a field K. We focuse also on the case of characteristic 2, identifying the matrices of GL(2,F_2) with the elements of the symmetric group S_3. The classification is then given by the study of the orbits of this group on a 3-dimensional plane, viewed as a Fano plane. As applications, we establish classifications of Jordan algebras, algebras of Lie type or Hom-Associative algebras.
The purpose of this paper is to discuss the universal algebra theory of hom-algebras. This kind of algebra involves a linear map which twists the usual identities. We focus on hom-associative algebras and hom-Lie algebras for which we review the main results. We discuss the envelopment problem, operads, and the Diamond Lemma; the usual tools have to be adapted to this new situation. Moreover we study Hilbert series for the hom-associative operad and free algebra, and describe them up to total degree equal 8 and 9 respectively.
Hom-algebras are generalizations of algebras obtained using a twisting by a linear map. But there is a priori a freedom on where to twist. We enumerate here all the possible choices in the Lie and associative categories and study the relations between the obtained algebras. The associative case is richer since it admits the notion of unit element. We use this fact to find sufficient conditions for hom-associative algebras to be associative and classify the implications between the hom-associative types of unital algebras.
In this article we study homotopes of finite-dimensional algebras (not necessarily, associative). In the case of associative algebras we study homotopes by methods of Category theory and give description of so-called well-tempered elements of finite-dimensional associative algebra in algebraic terms.
In this paper, we generalize Schur-Weyl duality and Morita Theorem on associative algebras to those on associative $H$-pseudoalgebras. Meanwhile, we get a plenty of associative $H$-pseudoalgebras over a cocommutative Hopf algebra $H$.
Bihom-associative algebras have been recently introduced in the study of group hom-categories. In this paper, we introduce a Hochschild type cohomology for bihom-associative algebras with suitable coefficients. The underlying cochain complex (with coefficients in itself) can be given the structure of an operad with a multiplication. Hence, the cohomology inherits a Gerstenhaber structure. We show that this cohomology also control corresponding formal deformations. Finally, we introduce bihom-associative algebras up to homotopy and show that some particular classes of these homotopy algebras ar…
A hom-associative algebra is an algebra whose associativity is twisted by an algebra homomorphism. We show that the Hochschild type cochain complex of a hom-associative algebra carries a homotopy G-algebra structure. As a consequence, we get a Gerstenhaber algebra structure on the cohomology of a hom-associative algebra. We also find similar results for hom-dialgebras.
Basic definitions and properties of nearly associative algebras are described. Nearly associative algebras are proved to be Lie-admissible algebras. Two-dimensional nearly associative algebras are classified, and its main classes are derived. The bimodules, matched pairs and Manin triple of a nearly associative algebras are derived and their equivalence with nearly associative bialgebras is proved. Basic definitions and properties of nearly Hom-associative algebras are described. Related bimodules and matched pairs are given, and associated identities are established.
In this paper we define a new cohomology for multiplicative Hom-associative algebras, which generalize Hochschild cohomology and fits with deformations of Hom-associative algebras including the structure map $α$. It is a generalization of the known Hochschild-type cohomology for Hom-associative algebras defined by Amar, Ejbehi and Makhlouf. Moreover, we provide various observations and similarly a new cohomology of Hom-bialgebras extending the Gerstenhaber-Schack cohomology for Hom-bialgebras given by Dekkar and Makhlouf.
In this paper we construct free Hom-semigroups when its unary operation is multiplicative and is an involution. Our method of construction is by bracketed words. As a consequence, we obtain free Hom-associative algebras generated by a set under the same conditions for the unary operation.
It is shown that every n-ary totally Hom-associative algebra with equal twisting maps yields an n-ary Hom-Nambu algebra via an n-ary version of the commutator bracket. The class of n-ary totally Hom-associative algebras is shown to be closed under twisting by self-weak morphisms. Every multiplicative n-ary totally Hom-associative algebra yields a sequence of multiplicative totally Hom-associative algebras of exponentially higher arities. Under suitable conditions, an n-ary totally Hom-associative algebra gives an (n-k)-ary totally Hom-associative algebra.
The aim of this paper is to extend to Hom-algebra structures the theory of formal deformations of algebras which was introduced by Gerstenhaber for associative algebras and extended to Lie algebras by Nijenhuis-Richardson. We deal with Hom-associative and Hom-Lie algebras. We construct the first groups of a deformation cohomology and give several examples of deformations. We provide families of Hom-Lie algebras deforming Lie algebra $sl_2$ and describe as formal deformations the q-deformed Witt algebra and Jackson $sl_2$.
We give the description of homogeneous Rota-Baxter operators, Reynolds operators, Nijenhuis operators, Average operators and differential operator of weight 1 of null-filiform associative algebras of arbitrary dimension.
In 2013 Benkart, Lopes and Ondrus introduced and studied in a series of papers the infinite-dimensional unital associative algebra $\A_h$ generated by elements $x,y,$ which satisfy the relation $yx-xy=h$ for some $0\neq h\in \FF[x]$. We generalize this construction to $\A_h(\B)$ by working over the fixed $\FF$-algebra $\B$ instead of $\FF$. We describe the polynomial identities for $\A_h(\B)$ over the infinite field $\FF$ in case $h\in\B[x]$ satisfies certain restrictions.
Hom-dendriform algebras are twisted analog of dendriform algebras and are splitting of hom-associative algebras. In this paper, we define a cohomology and deformation for hom-dendriform algebras. We relate this cohomology with the Hochschild-type cohomology of hom-associative algebras. We also describe similar results for the twisted analog of dendriform coalgebras.
An Ore extension over a polynomial algebra F[x] is either a quantum plane, a quantum Weyl algebra, or an infinite-dimensional unital associative algebra A_h generated by elements x,y, which satisfy yx-xy = h, where h is in F[x]. When h is nonzero, these algebras are subalgebras of the Weyl algebra A_1 and can be viewed as differential operators with polynomial coefficients. In previous work, we investigated the structure of A_h, determined its automorphisms and their invariants, and studied the irreducible A_h-modules. Here we determine the derivations of A_h over an arbitrary field.
Classes of $G$-Hom-associative algebras are constructed as deformations of $G$-associative algebras along algebra endomorphisms. As special cases, we obtain Hom-associative and Hom-Lie algebras as deformations of associative and Lie algebras, respectively, along algebra endomorphisms. Chevalley-Eilenberg type homology for Hom-Lie algebras are also constructed.
We introduce a family of unital associative algebras A which are multiparameter analogues of the Weyl algebras and determine the simple weight modules and the Whittaker modules for them. All these modules can be regarded as spaces of (Laurent) polynomials with certain A-actions on them. This paper was written in February 2008 and some copies of it were distributed, but it has never been posted or published. We thank Bryan Bischof and Jason Gaddis for their interest in the work and for encouraging us to make the paper more widely available. The references in this posted version have been update…
In this note, we introduce a class of algebras that are in some sense related to conformal algebras. This class (called TC-algebras) includes Weyl algebras and some of their (associative and Lie) subalgebras. By a conformal algebra we generally mean what is known as $H$-pseudo-algebra over the polynomial Hopf algebra $H=\Bbbk[T_1,..., T_n]$. Some recent results in structure theory of conformal algebras are applied to get a description of TC-algebras.
Hom-Akivis algebras are introduced. The commutator-Hom-associator algebra of a non-Hom-associative algebra (i.e. a Hom-nonassociative algebra) is a Hom-Akivis algebra. It is shown that non-Hom-associative algebras can be obtained from nonassociative algebras by twisting along algebra automorphisms while Hom-Akivis algebras can be obtained from Akivis algebras by twisting along algebra endomorphisms. It is pointed out that a Hom-Akivis algebra associated to a Hom-alternative algebra is a Hom-Malcev algebra.
In this paper, we define and study (co)homology theories of a compatible associative algebra $A$. At first, we construct a new graded Lie algebra whose Maurer-Cartan elements are given by compatible associative structures. Then we define the cohomology of a compatible associative algebra $A$ and as applications, we study extensions, deformations and extensibility of finite order deformations of $A$. We end this paper by considering compatible presimplicial vector spaces and the homology of compatible associative algebras.
We deal with the existing problem of filtered multiplicative bases of finite-dimensional associative algebras. For an associative algebra A over a field, we investigate when the property of having a filtered multiplicative basis is hereditated by homomorphic images or by the associated graded algebra of $A$. These results are then applied to some classes of group algebras and restricted enveloping algebras.
We compute the graded automorphisms of the upper triangular matrices, viewed as associative, Lie and Jordan algebras. We compute also the so called self-equivalences and Weyl and diagonal groups for every grading.
Homological smoothness and twisted Calabi-Yau property of generalized Weyl algebras over polynomial algebras in two variables is studied. A necessary and sufficient condition to be homologically smooth is given. The Nakayama automorphisms of such algebras are also computed in terms of the Jacobian determinants of defining automorphisms.
In this paper, we introduce the cohomology theory of $\mathcal{O}$-operators on Hom-associative algebras. This cohomology can also be viewed as the Hochschild cohomology of a certain Hom-associative algebra with coefficients in a suitable bimodule. Next, we study infinitesimal and formal deformations of an $\mathcal{O}$-operator and show that they are governed by the above-defined cohomology. Furthermore, the notion of Nijenhuis elements associated with an $\mathcal{O}$-operator is introduced to characterize trivial infinitesimal deformations.
The aim of this paper is to give relations between the category of finetely generated graded modules over the homogeneized Weyl algebra $B_{n}$, the finetely generated modules over the Weyl algebra $A_{n}$ and the finetely generated graded modules over the Yoneda algebra $B_{n}^{!}$ of $B_{n}$. We will give these relations both at the level of the categories of modules and at the level of the derived categories.
Representations of the Schlessinger-Stasheff's associative homotopy Lie algebras in the spaces of higher-order differential operators are analyzed; in particular, a remarkable identity for the Wronskian determinants is obtained. The W-transformations of chiral embeddings, related with the Toda equations, of complex curves into the Kaehler manifolds are shown to be endowed with the homotopy Lie algebra structures. Extensions of the Wronskian determinants that preserve the properties of the Schlessinger-Stasheff's algebras are constructed for the case of $n\geq1$ independent variables.
A hom-associative structure is a set $A$ together with a binary operation $\star$ and a selfmap $α$ such that an $α$-twisted version of associativity is fulfilled. In this paper, we assume that $α$ is surjective. We show that in this case, under surprisingly weak additional conditions on the multiplication, the binary operation is a twisted version of an associative operation. As an application, an earlier result by Yael Fregier and the author on weakly unital hom-algebras is recovered with a different proof. In the second section, consequences for the deformation theory of hom-algebras with s…
We give an accessible introduction into the theory of lower central series of associative algebras, exhibiting the interplay between algebra, geometry and representation theory that is characteristic for this subject, and to discuss some open questions. In particular, we provide shorter and clearer proofs of the main results of this theory. We also discuss some new theoretical and computational results and conjectures on the lower central series of the free algebra in two generators modulo a generic homogeneous relation.
A Hom-algebra structure is a multiplication on a vector space where the structure is twisted by a homomorphism. The structure of Hom-Lie algebra was introduced by Hartwig, Larsson and Silvestrov and extended by Larsson and Silvestrov to quasi-hom Lie and quasi-Lie algebras. In this paper we introduce and study Hom-associative, Hom-Leibniz, and Hom-Lie admissible algebraic structures which generalize the well known associative, Leibniz and Lie admissible algebras. Also, we characterize the flexible Hom-algebras in this case. We also explain some connections between Hom-Lie algebras and Santilli…
In the paper {\em The inversion formulae for automorphisms of polynomial algebras and differential operators in prime characteristic}, J. Pure Appl. Algebra 212 (2008), no. 10, 2320-2337, see also arXiv:math/0604477, Vladimir Bavula states the following Conjecture: (BC) Any endomorphism of a Weyl algebra (in a finite characteristic case) is a monomorphism. The purpose of this preprint is to prove BC for $A_1$, show that BC is wrong for $A_n$ when $n > 1$, and prove an analogue of $BC$ for symplectic Poisson algebras.
