In this paper we prove a Radó type result showing that there is no univalent polyharmonic mapping of the unit disk onto the whole complex plane. We also establish a connection between the boundary functions of harmonic and biharmonic mappings. Finally, we show how a close-to-convex biharmonic mapping can be constructed from a convex harmonic mapping.
The paper is devoted to the study of compositions of polyharmonic mappings in simply connected domains. More precisely, we determine necessary and sufficient conditions of polyharmonic mapping $f$ such that $f\circ F$ (resp. $F\circ f$) is $l$-harmonic for any analytic function (or harmonic mapping but not analytic, or $q$-harmonic mapping but not $(q-1)$-harmonic) $F$.
In this paper, we first find an estimate for the range of polyharmonic mappings in the class $HC_{p}^{0}$. Then, we obtain two characterizations in terms of the convolution for polyharmonic mappings to be starlike of order $α$, and convex of order $β$, respectively. Finally, we study the radii of starlikeness and convexity for polyharmonic mappings, under certain coefficient conditions.
In this paper, we continue our investigation of polyharmonic mappings in the complex plane. First, we establish two Landau type theorems. We also show a three circles type theorem and an area version of the Schwarz lemma. Finally, we study Lipschitz continuity of polyharmonic mappings with respect to the distance ratio metric.
In this paper, we first investigate coefficient estimates for bounded polyharmonic mappings in the unit disk $\mathbb{D}$. Then, we obtain two versions of Landau's theorem for polyharmonics mapping $F$, and for the mappings of the type $L(F)$, where $L$ is the differential operator of Abdulhadi, Abu Muhanna and Khuri. Examples and numerical estimates are given.
We give coefficient estimates for a class of close-to-convex harmonic mappings, and discuss the Fekete-Szegő problem of it. We also introduce two classes of polyharmonic mappings $\mathcal{HS}_{p}$ and $\mathcal{HC}_{p}$, consider the starlikeness and convexity of them, and obtain coefficient estimates on them. Finally, we give a necessary condition for a mapping $F$ to be in the class $\mathcal{HC}_{p}$.
In this paper, a class of $\log$-polyharmonic mappings $\mathcal{L}_p\mathcal{H}$ together with its subclass $\mathcal{L}_p\mathcal{H}(G)$ in the unit disk $\mathbb{D}=\{z: |z|<1\}$ is introduced, and several geometrical properties such as the starlikeness, convexity and univalence are investigated. In particular, we consider the Goodman-Saff conjecture and prove that the conjecture is true in $\mathcal{L}_p\mathcal{H}(G)$.
In this paper, we introduce a class of complex-valued polyharmonic mappings, denoted by $HS_{p}(λ)$, and its subclass $HS_{p}^{0}(λ)$, where $λ\in [0,1]$ is a constant. These classes are natural generalizations of a class of mappings studied by Goodman in 1950's. We generalize the main results of Avci and Złotkiewicz from 1990's to the classes $HS_{p}(λ)$ and $HS_{p}^{0}(λ)$, showing that the mappings in $HS_{p}(λ)$ are univalent and sense preserving. We also prove that the mappings in $HS_{p}^{0}(λ)$ are starlike with respect to the origin, and characterize the extremal points of the above cl…
A 2p-times continuously differentiable complex valued function $f = u + iv$ in a simply connected domain is polyharmonic (or p-harmonic) if it satisfies the polyharmonic equation $Δ^pF = 0$ . Every polyharmonic mapping f can be written as $f(z) =\sum_{k}^{p} |z|^{2(p-1)}G_{p-k+1}(z)$ where each $G_{p-k+1}$ is harmonic. In this paper we investigate the univalence of polyharmonic mappings on linearly connected domains and the relation between univalence of f(z) and that of $G_p(z)$. The notions of stable univalence and logpolyharminc mappings are also considered.
Suppose that $f$ satisfies the following: $(1)$ the polyharmonic equation $Δ^{m}f=Δ(Δ^{m-1} f)$$=φ_{m}$ $(φ_{m}\in \mathcal{C}(\overline{\mathbb{B}^{n}},\mathbb{R}^{n}))$, (2) the boundary conditions $Δ^{0}f=φ_{0},Δ^{1}f=φ_{1},~\ldots,~Δ^{m-1}f=φ_{m-1}$ on $\mathbb{S}^{n-1}$ ($φ_{j}\in \mathcal{C}(\mathbb{S}^{n-1},\mathbb{R}^{n})$ for $j\in\{0,1,\ldots,m-1\}$ and $\mathbb{S}^{n-1}$ denotes the boundary of the unit ball $\mathbb{B}^{n}$), and $(3)$ $f(0)=0$, where $n\geq3$ and $m\geq1$ are integers. Initially, we prove a Schwarz type lemma and use it to obtain a Heinz type inequality of mapping…
Suppose that $f$ is a $K$-quasiconformal ($(K,K')$-quasiconformal resp.) self-mapping of the unit disk $\mathbb{D}$, which satisfies the following: $(1)$ the inhomogeneous polyharmonic equation $Δ^{n}f=Δ(Δ^{n-1} f)=φ_{n}$ $(φ_{n}\in \mathcal{C}(\overline{\mathbb{D}}))$, (2) the boundary conditions $Δ^{n-1}f|_{\mathbb{T}}=φ_{n-1},~\ldots,~Δ^{1}f|_{\mathbb{T}}=φ_{1}$ ($φ_{j}\in\mathcal{C}(\mathbb{T})$ for $j\in\{1,\ldots,n-1\}$ and $\mathbb{T}$ denotes the unit circle), and $(3)$ $f(0)=0$, where $n\geq2$ is an integer and $K\geq1$ ($K'\geq0$ resp.). The main aim of this paper is to prove that $f…
In this note, our purpose is to establish shortly the algebraicity of a holomorphic mapping between real algebraic CR manifolds under a double reflection condition which generalizes the classical single reflection. A complete study of various double reflection conditions is also provided.
In this paper, we give a new generalization of the Bohr inequality in refined form both for bounded analytic functions, and for sense-preserving harmonic functions with analytic part being bounded.
This paper focuses on properties of \partial-biLipschitz mappings which were recently introduced by Bulter. We establish several characterizations for the class of \partial-biLipschitz mappings between domains in quasiconvex metric spaces. As an application, we show that a locally quasisymmetric equivalence between uniform metric spaces is quasimöbius, quantitatively.
In this note we present a remark on the paper "On the coefficient inequalities for a class of holomorphic mappings associated with spirallike mappings in several complex variables" by Y.~Lai and Q.~Xu \cite{LX} published recently in the journal {\it Results in Mathematics}. We show that one of the theorems in \cite{LX} concerning the finite-dimensional space $\mathbb{C}^n$ is a direct consequence of another one, so it does not need an independent proof. Moreover, we prove that a sharp norm estimate on the Fekete--Szegö functional over spirallike mappings in a general Banach space can be deduce…
We prove the following Artin type approximation theorem for smooth CR mappings: given M a connected real-analytic CR submanifold in C^N that is minimal at some point, M' a real-analytic subset of C^N', and H:M->M' a smooth CR mapping, there exists a dense open subset O in M such that for any q in O and any positive integer k there exists a germ at q of a real-analytic CR mapping H^k:(M,q)->M' whose k-jet at q agrees with that of H up to order k.
Let $h$ and $g$ be two analytic functions in the unit disc $Δ$ that $g(0)=1$. Also let $β$ be a complex number with ${\rm Re}\{β\}>-1/2$. A function $f$ is said to be log--harmonic mapping if it has the following representation \begin{equation*} f(z)=z |z|^{2β} h(z)\overline{g(z)}\quad (z\in Δ). \end{equation*} A log--harmonic mapping $f$ is said to be starlike log--harmonic mapping of order $α$, where $0\leq α<1$, if \begin{equation*} {\rm Re}\left\{\frac{zf_z -\overline{z}f_{\overline{z}}}{f}\right\}>α\quad(z\in Δ). \end{equation*} In this paper, by use of the subordination principle, we stu…
Dorff et al. \cite{DN} formulated a question concerning the convolution of two right half-plane mappings, where the normalization of the functions was considered incorrectly. In this paper, we have reformulated the open problem in correct form and provided a solution to it in a more general form. In addition, we also obtain two new theorems which correct and improve some other results.
In this paper, we prove Huang et al.'s conjecture stated that if $f$ is a holomorphic function on $Δ^+:=\{z\in \mathbb C \colon |z|<1,~\mathrm{Im}(z)>0\}$ with $\mathcal{C}^\infty$-smooth extension up to $(-1,1)$ such that $f$ maps $(-1,1)$ into a cone $Γ_C:=\{z\in \mathbb C\colon |\mathrm{Im} (z)| \leq C|\mathrm{Re} (z)|\}$, for some positive number $C$, and $f$ vanishes to infinite order at $0$, then $f$ vanishes identically. In addition, some regularity properties of the Riemann mapping functions on the boundary and an example concerning Huang et al.'s conjecture are also given.
We give a proof, based on Lipschitz quotient mappings, for the fact that limits of BLD-mappings between manifolds of bounded geometry are BLD. Furthermore we show that such mappings share some properties of covering maps and especially have no asymptotic values.
In this note it is formulated the J. C. C. Nitsche type conjecture for bi-harmonic mappings. The conjecture has been motivated by the radial bi-harmonic mappings between annuli.
In this paper, we provide partial solutions to a problem raised by Väisälä on local properties of free quasiconformal mappings. In particular, we show that a locally free quasiconformal mapping is globally free quasiconformal under the condition of locally relative quasisymmetry.
In this short note we apply certain iteration of the Janowski functions to estimate the integral means of some analytic and univalent mappings of $|z|<1$. Our method of proof follows an earlier one due to Leung \cite{YJ}.
Let $F:\Bbb C^n\to\Bbb C^n$ be a polynomial mapping with a non vanishing Jacobian. If the set $S_F$ of non-properness of $F$ is smooth, then $F$ is a surjective mapping. Moreover, the set $S_F$ can not be connected (this is the Nollet-Xavier Conjecture). Additionally, if $n=2$, then the set $S_F$ of non-properness of $F$ cannot be a curve without self-intersections.
In this note we discuss some problems related to conformal slit-mappings. On the one hand, classical Loewner theory leads us to questions concerning the embedding of univalent functions into slit-like Loewner chains. On the other hand, a recent result from monotone probability theory motivates the study of univalent functions from a probabilistic perspective.
In this note, we give an estimate for the dimension of the image of the unit circle under a quasiconformal mapping whose dilatation has small support. We also prove an analogous estimate for the rate of growth of a solution of a second-order parabolic equation given by the Feynman-Kac formula (with a sparsely supported potential) and introduce a dictionary between the two settings.
Nicolas-Auguste Tissot (1824--1897) was a French mathematician and cartographer. He introduced a tool which became known among geographers under the name ``Tissot indicatrix'', and which was widely used during the first half of the twentieth century in cartography. This is a graphical representation of a field of ellipses, indicating at each point of a geographical map the distorsion of this map, both in direction and in magnitude. Each ellipse represented at a given point is the image of an infinitesimal circle in the domain of the map (generally speaking, a sphere representing the surface of…
This note is devoted to two classical theorems: the open mapping theorem for analytic functions (OMT) and the fundamental theorem of algebra (FTA). We present a new proof of the first theorem, and then derive the second one by a simple topological argument. The proof is elementary in nature and does not use any kind of integration (neither complex nor real). In addition, it is also independent of the fact that the roots of an analytic function are isolated. The proof is based on either the Banach or Brouwer fixed point theorems. In particular, this shows that one can obtain a proof of the FTA …
We prove in this note a result on extension of meromorphic mappings, which can be considered as a direct generalisation of the Hartogs extension theorem for holomorphic functions. Namely: THEOREM. Every meromorphic mapping $f:H_n^q(r)\to Y$, where $Y$ is a $q$ - -complete complex space, extends to a meromorphic mapping from $Δ^{n+q}$ to $Y$. Here $H_n^q(r):=Δ^n\times (Δ^q\setminus \barΔ_r^q)\cup Δ_r^n\times Δ^q$ is a "q-concave" Hartogs figure in $C^{n+q}$. Remark that in the case $q=1$, i.e. when $Y$ is Stein, the statement of the Theorem is exactly the Theorem of Hartogs.
