We study non-perturbative interpolating functions to probe the physics of anomalous dimensions associated with twist-two operators in ${\cal N}=4$ SYM of finite and infinite spin. Compared to previous studies, the novel result of this paper is to introduce single multivariate functions of both coupling $g$ and spin $j$ to approximate such anomalous dimensions. We provide a unified framework to study such operators in interim ranges of the parameters which so far has eluded previous results. Explicitly, we consider twist-two anomalous dimensions in two distinct scenarios using interpolating functions. For the large $N$ case, we stick to simple Padé approximants and its generalizations . For the finite $N$ case, ${\cal N}=4$ SYM is expected to be S-dual invariant, hence the observables are expected be modular invariant. To probe the finite $N$ physics, we take into account the non-planar and instanton contributions by constructing modular invariant interpolating functions to approximate the cusp and twist-two anomalous dimensions. We also consider interpolating functions for the twist-four operators and study level crossing phenomenon between the twist-two and twist-four operators.
We construct interpolating functions fully compatible with S-duality. We then consider the problem of resumming perturbative expansions for anomalous dimensions of low twist non-protected operators in N=4 super Yang-Mills theory. When the rank of the gauge group is small, the interpolations suggest that anomalous dimensions of leading twist operators take their maximum value at the point $τ=\exp(iπ/3)$. For fixed spin and large enough rank, there is a level-crossing region, where the anomalous dimension of the leading twist operator reaches its maximum and then bounces back.
We study anomalous dimensions of unprotected low twist operators in the four-dimensional $SU(N)$ $\mathcal{N}=4$ supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory. We construct a class of interpolating functions to approximate the dimensions of the leading twist operators for arbitrary gauge coupling $τ$. The interpolating functions are consistent with previous results on the perturbation theory, holographic computation and full S-duality. We use our interpolating functions to test a recent conjecture by the $\mathcal{N}=4$ superconformal bootstrap that upper bounds on the dimensions are saturated at one of th…
We propose a closed expression for the three loop anomalous dimension of a class of twist-3 operators built with gauge fields and covariant derivatives. To this aim, we solve the long-range Bethe Ansatz equations at finite spin and provide a consistent analytical formula obtained assuming maximal transcendentality violation as suggested by the known one-loop anomalous dimension. The final result reproduces the universal cusp anomalous dimension and obeys recursion relations inspired by the principle of reciprocity invariance.
We review the computation of the anomalous dimension of twist operators in the planar limit of N=4 SYM using the asymptotic Bethe ansatz and demonstrate how this quantity is obtained at weak, strong and intermediate values of the coupling constant. The anomalous dimension of twist operators in the limit of large Lorentz spin played a major role in the construction as well as in many tests of the asymptotic Bethe equations, this aspect of the story is emphasised.
We consider twist-3 operators in the sl(2) sector of N=4 SYM built out of three scalar fields with derivatives. We extract from the Bethe Ansatz equations of this sector the exact lowest anomalous dimension gamma(s) of scaling fields for several values of the operator spin s. We propose compact closed expressions for the spin dependence of gamma(s) up to the four loop level and show that they obey a simple new twist-3 transcendentality principle. As a check, we reproduce the four loop universal cusp anomalous dimension governing the logarithmic large spin limit of gamma(s).
I review recent results on conformal field theories in four dimensions and quantum field theories interpolating between conformal fixed points, supersymmetric and non-supersymmetric. The talk is structured in three parts: i) central charges, ii) anomalous dimensions and iii) quantum irreversibility.
In this paper we consider anomalous dimensions of double trace operators at large spin ($\ell$) and large twist ($τ$) in CFTs in arbitrary dimensions ($d\geq 3$). Using analytic conformal bootstrap methods, we show that the anomalous dimensions are universal in the limit $\ell\gg τ\gg 1$. In the course of the derivation, we extract an approximate closed form expression for the conformal blocks arising in the four point function of identical scalars in any dimension. We compare our results with two different calculations in holography and find perfect agreement.
In this article we calculate the five-loop anomalous dimension of twist-two operators in the planar N=4 SYM theory. Firstly, using reciprocity, we derive the contribution of the asymptotic Bethe ansatz. Subsequently, we employ the first finite-size correction for the AdS5xS5 sigma model to determine the wrapping correction. The anomalous dimension found in this way passes all known tests provided by the NLO BFKL equation and double-logarithmic constraints. This result thus furnishes an infinite number of experimental data for testing the veracity of the recently proposed spectral equations for…
Leading-twist operators have a remarkable property that their divergence vanishes in a free theory. Recently it was suggested that this property can be used for an alternative technique to calculate anomalous dimensions of leading-twist operators and allows one to gain one order in perturbation theory so that, i.e., two-loop anomalous dimensions can be calculated from one-loop Feynman diagrams, etc. In this work we study feasibility of this program on a toy-model example of the $φ^3$ theory in six dimensions. Our conclusion is that this approach is valid, although it does not seem to present c…
We extend and develop a method for perturbative calculations of anomalous dimensions and mixing matrices of leading twist conformal primary operators in conformal field theories. Such operators lie on the unitarity bound and hence are conserved (irreducible) in the free theory. The technique relies on the known pattern of breaking of the irreducibility conditions in the interacting theory. We relate the divergence of the conformal operators via the field equations to their descendants involving an extra field and accompanied by an extra power of the coupling constant. The ratio of the two-poin…
We consider twist-L operators in the planar N=6 superconformal Chern-Simons ABJM theory. Their anomalous dimension gamma_L^{CS}(N) is a function of the twist L, the spin N, and the dressed coupling of ABJM. We show that at next-to-leading order in the large spin expansion, this anomalous dimension is related to that of N=4 SYM twist operators by a simple scaling law.
The spectrum of anomalous dimensions of twist sl(2) operators in N=4 SYM has an intriguing feature in low twist 2 or 3. The anomalous dimension of the lowest state, dual a folded string on AdS_5 X S^5, can be computed by Bethe Ansatz at 3, 4 loops respectively as a simple closed function of the Lorentz spin. This feature is apparently lost at higher twist. We propose sum rules for the excited anomalous dimensions where closed expressions can still be provided, even at higher twist. We present several explicit three loop examples. Many structural regularities can be observed leading to closed e…
The result for the six-loop anomalous dimension of twist-three operators in the planar N=4 SYM theory is presented. The calculations were performed along the paper arXiv:0912.1624. This result provides a new data for testing the proposed spectral equations for planar AdS/CFT correspondence.
We compute the non-planar contribution to the anomalous dimension of the eight moment of the twist-2 operators in N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory at four loops. This result was obtained from the calculations of some elements of the anomalous dimension matrix for twist-2 operators with the help of a relations between its elements and eigenvalues. The properties of the obtained result and a possible relations with a planar results are discussed.
We present the result of a full direct component calculation for the term proportional to zeta(5) in the four-loop universal anomalous dimension of the twist-2 operators in N =4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory for the first three even moments. We suggest the general form such contribution for the arbitrary Lorentz spin of the twist-2 operators.
We study maximal helicity three gaugino operators in N=4 Super Yang-Mills theory. We show that the lowest anomalous dimension of scaling operators with generic finite spin can be expressed in terms of the universal anomalous dimension appearing at twist-2. This statement is rigourously proved at three loops. The reason for this universality between sectors with different twist is the hidden psu(1|1) invariance of the su(2|1) subsector of the theory.
We propose a mechanism for calculating anomalous dimensions of higher-spin twist-two operators in N=4 SYM. We consider the ratio of the two-point functions of the operators and of their superconformal descendants or, alternatively, of the three-point functions of the operators and of the descendants with two protected half-BPS operators. These ratios are proportional to the anomalous dimension and can be evaluated at n-1 loop in order to determine the anomalous dimension at n loops. We illustrate the method by reproducing the well-known one-loop result by doing only tree-level calculations. We…
We compute the general form of the six-loop anomalous dimension of twist-two operators with arbitrary spin in planar N=4 SYM theory. First we find the contribution from the asymptotic Bethe ansatz. Then we reconstruct the wrapping terms from the first 35 even spin values of the full six-loop anomalous dimension computed using the quantum spectral curve approach. The obtained anomalous dimension satisfies all known constraints coming from the BFKL equation, the generalised double-logarithmic equation, and the small spin expansion.
We consider twist-1, 2 operators in planar N=6 superconformal Chern-Simons ABJM theory. We derive higher order anomalous dimensions from integrability and test various QCD-inspired predictions known to hold in N=4 SYM. In particular, we show that the asymptotic anomalous dimensions display intriguing remnants of Gribov-Lipatov reciprocity and Low-Burnett-Kroll logarithmic cancellations. Wrapping effects are also discussed and shown to be subleading at large spin.
We present the result of a full direct component calculation for the first three even moments of the non-planar contribution into the four-loop anomalous dimension of twist-2 operators in maximally extended N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory. Obtained result complete our previous calculations in arXiv:0902.4646 and gives the usual result for the higher moments on the contrary to degenerate one in the case of Konishi. We have proposed a general form of zeta(5) and zeta(3) parts of the full non-planar anomalous dimension of twist-2 operators. As by product, we have obtained the first moment of…
We present the result of a calculation for the third and fourth moments of the non-singlet four-loop anomalous dimension of Wilson twist-2 operators in QCD with full color and flavour structures. We discuss also a general expressions for some contributions to the full four-loop anomalous dimension obtained with the help of the method, based on LLL-algorithm, which was proposed earlier by us for the reconstruction of a general form of the anomalous dimension from a fixed values.
We compute the non-planar contribution to the universal anomalous dimension of twist-two operators in N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory at four loops through Lorentz spin eighteen. Exploiting the results of this and our previous calculations along with recent analytic results for the cusp anomalous dimension and some expected analytic properties, we reconstruct a general expression valid for arbitrary Lorentz spin. We study various properties of this general result, such as its large-spin limit, its small-x limit, and others. In particular, we present a prediction for the non-planar contrib…
The long range Bethe Ansatz solution of the mixing problem in N=4 SYM allows to compute in a very efficient way multiloop anomalous dimensions of various composite operators. In the case of sl(2) twist operators it is important to obtain closed expressions for the anomalous dimensions in terms of the Lorentz spin. Conjectures are available altough analytical proofs are missing beyond one-loop. In this paper, we will present a method to expand at large spin the solution of the long range Baxter equation in twist 2 and 3. We will also propose sum rules for special singlet states at higher twist.
Nonplanar Four-Loop Anomalous Dimensions of Twist-Two Operators in N=4 Super Yang-Mills Theory: Higher Moment, General Result, and Cusp Anomalous Dimension
Recently the anomalous dimension of twist two operators in N=4 SYM theory was computed by Gubser, Klebanov and Polyakov in the limit of large 't Hooft coupling using semi-classical rotating strings in AdS_5. Here we reproduce their results for large angular momentum by using the cusp anomaly of Wilson loops in Minkowski signature also computed within the AdS/CFT correspondence. In this case the anomalous dimension is related to an Euclidean worldsheet whose properties are completely determined by the symmetries of the problem. This gives support to the proposed identification of rotating strin…
We present a formula for the five-loop anomalous dimension of N=4 SYM twist-three operators in the sl(2) sector. We obtain its asymptotic part from the Bethe Ansatz and finite volume corrections from the generalized Luescher formalism, considering scattering processes of spin chain magnons with virtual particles that travel along the cylinder. The complete result respects the expected large spin scaling properties and passes non-trivial tests including reciprocity constraints. We analyze the pole structure and find agreement with a conjectured resummation formula. In analogy with the twist-two…
We compute the contribution to the anomalous dimension of the twist-2 operators in N=4 SYM theory, which is proportional to the number of fermion loops inside Feynman diagrams or, formally, to the number of fermions. The result was obtained by the method based on the calculation of critical indices at the critical point by analogy with previous similar computations in scalar theories and in QCD. The obtained result is much simpler with compare to analogous results in QCD and almost satisfies the maximal transcedentality principle. A possible relation between the obtained result and integrabili…
In this paper we consider $ϕ^4$ theory in $4-ε$ dimensions at the Wilson-Fisher fixed point where the theory becomes conformal. We extend the method in arXiv:1505.00963 for calculating the leading order term in the anomalous dimensions of some operators with spin. This method involves mostly symmetry arguments and reduces the process for calculating anomalous dimensions to some Wick contractions in the corresponding free theory. We apply this method in the case of operators with two and three fields whose twist is equal to the number of fields they contain, and we rederive known results for th…
We show agreements, at one-loop level of field theory, between energies of semiclassical string states on AdS_5 x S^5/Z_M and anomalous dimensions of operators in N=0,1,2 orbifold field theories originating from N=4 SYM. On field theory side, one-loop anomalous dimension matrices can be regarded as Hamiltonians of spin chains with twisted boundary conditions. These are solvable by Bethe ansatz. On string side, twisted sectors emerge and we obtain some string configurations in twisted sectors. In SU(2) subsectors, we compare anomalous dimensions with string energies and see agreements. We also …
The four loop universal anomalous dimension of twist-2 operators in N=4 SYM has been recently conjectured. In this paper, we prove that it obeys a generalized Gribov-Lipatov reciprocity, previously known to hold at the three loop level.
The anomalous dimensions of twist two operators have to satisfy certain consistency requirements derived from BFKL. For N=4 SYM it was shown that at four loops, the anomalous dimensions derived from the all-loop asymptotic Bethe ansatz do not pass this test. In this paper we obtain the remaining wrapping part of these anomalous dimensions from string theory and show that these contributions exactly cure the problem and lead to agreement with both LO and NLO BFKL expectations.
We investigate the heavy-light four-point function up to double-stress-tensor, supplementing 1910.06357. By using the OPE coefficients of lowest-twist double-stress-tensor in the literature, we find the Regge behavior for lowest-twist double-stress-tensor in general even dimension within the large impact parameter regime. In the next, we perform the Lorentzian inversion formula to obtain both the OPE coefficients and anomalous dimensions of double-twist operators $[\mathcal{O}_H\mathcal{O}_L]_{n,J}$ with finite spin $J$ in $d=4$. We also extract the anomalous dimensions of double-twist operato…
We present algorithmic perturbative solution of $\mathcal{N}=4$ SYM quantum spectral curve in the case of twist 2 operators, valid to in principle arbitrary order in coupling constant. The latter treats operator spins as arbitrary integer values and is written in terms of special class of functions -- products of rational functions in spectral parameter with sums of Baxter polynomials and Hurwitz functions. It is shown that this class of functions is closed under elementary operations, such as shifts, partial fractions, multiplication by spectral parameter and differentiation. Also, it is full…
We introduce a method to obtain the analytic solution of the higher-order Baxter equation for twist-two and twist-three operators of planar N=4 SYM. Our result proofs the conjectured formula for the three-loop anomalous dimension of twist-two operators. As such we derive the maximally transcendental part of the corresponding three-loop QCD result from the maximal supersymmetric gauge theory in four dimension purely by methods of integrability.
We use analytic conformal bootstrap methods to determine the anomalous dimensions and OPE coefficients for large spin operators in general conformal field theories in four dimensions containing a scalar operator of conformal dimension $Δ_ϕ$. It is known that such theories will contain an infinite sequence of large spin operators with twists approaching $2Δ_ϕ+2n$ for each integer $n$. By considering the case where such operators are separated by a twist gap from other operators at large spin, we analytically determine the $n$, $Δ_ϕ$ dependence of the anomalous dimensions. We find that for all $…
Using known all-loop results from the BFKL and generalized double-logarithmic equations and large spin limit we have recomputed the five-loop planar anomalous dimension of twist-2 operators without consideration of any wrapping effects. One part of the anomalous dimension was calculated in an usual way with the help of Asymptotic Bethe Ansatz. The rest part, related with the wrapping effects, was reconstructed from a known constraints with the help of methods from the numbers theory.
We generalize local operators of the leading twist-2 of N=4 SYM theory to the case of complex Lorentz spin j using principal series representation of sl(2,R). We give the direct computation of correlation function of two such non-local operators in the BFKL regime when j -> 1. The correlator appears to have the expected conformal coordinate dependence governed by the anomalous dimension of twist-2 operator in NLO BFKL approximation predicted by Kotikov and Lipatov.
Topological spin liquids can be described by topological gauge theories with global symmetry. Due to the presence of both nontrivial bulk deconfined gauge fluxes and global symmetry, topological spin liquids are examples of the so-called "Symmetry Enriched Topological phases" (SET). In this paper, we find that, in some twisted versions of topological gauge theories (with discrete Abelian gauge group $G_g$), implementing a global symmetry (denoted by $G_s$) is anomalous although symmetry charge carried by topological point-like excitations is normally fractionalized and classified by the second…
A recently discovered generalized Gribov-Lipatov reciprocity holds for the anomalous dimensions of various twist operators in N=4 SYM. Here, we consider a class of scaling psu(2,2|4) operators that reduce at one-loop to twist-3 maximal helicity gluonic operators. We extract from the asymptotic long-range Bethe Ansatz a closed expression for the spin dependent anomalous dimension at four loop order and provide a complete proof of reciprocity. We comment about the interplay with possible, yet unknown, wrapping corrections.
Anomalous dimensions of Wilson operators with large Lorentz spin scale logarithmically with the spin. Recent multi-loop QCD calculations of twist-two anomalous dimensions revealed the existence of interesting structure of the subleading corrections suppressed by powers of the Lorentz spin. We argue that this structure is a manifestation of the `self-tuning' property of the multi-loop anomalous dimensions - in a conformal gauge theory, the anomalous dimension of Wilson operators is a function of their conformal spin which is modified in higher loops by an amount proportional to the anomalous di…
We find that the evolution equation for the three-particle quark-gluon B-meson light-cone distribution amplitude (DA) of subleading twist is completely integrable in the large $N_c$ limit and can be solved exactly. The lowest anomalous dimension is separated from the remaining, continuous, spectrum by a finite gap. The corresponding eigenfunction coincides with the contribution of quark-gluon states to the two-particle DA $ϕ_-(ω)$ so that the evolution equation for the latter is the same as for the leading-twist DA $ϕ_+(ω)$ up to a constant shift in the anomalous dimension. Thus, ``genuine'' t…
We perform the OPE analysis of the contribution of colour-singlet compound states of reggeized gluons to a generic hard process in QCD and calculate the spectrum of the corresponding higher twist anomalous dimensions in multi-colour limit. These states govern high energy asymptotics of the structure functions and their energies define the intercept of the Regge singularities both in the Pomeron and the Odderon sectors. We argue that due to nontrivial analytical properties of the energy spectrum, the twist expansion does not hold for the gluonic states with the minimal energy generating the lea…
We present the method, based on the use of the broken conformal Ward identities, for the calculation of the anomalous dimensions of conformal operators beyond the leading order of perturbation theory. By means of this technique we find the complete set of two-loop corrections to the off-diagonal elements of the anomalous dimension matrix (the diagonal ones are known from deep inelastic scattering calculations) of the parity odd and even singlet local operators in the Abelian gauge theory. We reconstruct corresponding exclusive two-loop evolution kernels and give the reduction formulae for the …
We consider the bosonic sl(2) sector of the maximally supersymmetric N=4 SYM model and show that anomalous dimension of the twist-3 single-trace composite operators built of scalar fields, recently calculated up to the four-loop order, can be generated by a compact reciprocity respecting evolution kernel.
The structure constants of twist-two operators with spin $j$ in the BFKL limit $g^2\rightarrow 0, j\rightarrow 1$ but ${g^2\over j-1}\sim 1$ are determined from the calculation of the three-point correlator of twist-two light-ray operators in the triple Regge limit. It is well known that the anomalous dimensions of twist-two operators in this limit are determined by the BFKL intercept. Similarly, the obtained structure constants are determined by an analytic function of three BFKL intercepts.
We study analytical properties of the five-loop anomalous dimension of twist-2 operators at negative even values of Lorentz spin. Following L. N. Lipatov and A. I. Onishchenko, we have found two possible generalizations of double-logarithmic equation, which allow to predict a lot of poles of anomalous dimension of twist-2 operators at all orders of perturbative theory from the known results. Second generalization is related with the reciprocity-respecting function, which is a single-logarithmic function in this case. We have found, that the knowledge of first orders of the reciprocity-respecti…
The anomalous dimension of twist-2 operators of arbitrary spin in planar N=4 SYM theory is found at seven loops by using the quantum spectral curve to compute values at fixed spin, and reconstructing the general result using the LLL-algorithm together with modular arithmetic. The result of the analytic continuation to negative spin is presented, and its relation with the recently computed correction to the BFKL and double-logarithmic equation is discussed.
