We present a formula for the five-loop anomalous dimension of N=4 SYM twist-three operators in the sl(2) sector. We obtain its asymptotic part from the Bethe Ansatz and finite volume corrections from the generalized Luescher formalism, considering scattering processes of spin chain magnons with virtual particles that travel along the cylinder. The complete result respects the expected large spin scaling properties and passes non-trivial tests including reciprocity constraints. We analyze the pole structure and find agreement with a conjectured resummation formula. In analogy with the twist-two anomalous dimension at four-loops, wrapping effects are of order log^2 M/M^2 for large values of the spin.
We write down the simplified TBA equations of the $AdS_5 \times S^5$ string sigma-model for minimal energy twist-two operators in the sl(2) sector of the model. By using the linearized version of these TBA equations it is shown that the wrapping corrected Bethe equations for these states are identical, up to O(g^8), to the Bethe equations calculated in the generalized Lüscher approach (Bajnok-Janik formula). Applications of the Bajnok-Janik formula to relativistic integrable models, the nonlinear O(n) sigma models for n=2,3,4 and the SU(n) principal sigma models, are also discussed.
Assuming that the world-sheet sigma-model in the AdS/CFT correspondence is an integrable {\em quantum} field theory, we deduce that there might be new corrections to the spin-chain/string Bethe ansatz paradigm. These come from virtual particles propagating around the circumference of the cylinder and render Bethe ansatz quantization conditions only approximate. We determine the nature of these corrections both at weak and at strong coupling in the near BMN limit, and find that the first corrections behave qualitatively as wrapping interactions at weak coupling.
A system of SU(N)-matrix difference equations is solved by means of a nested version of a generalized Bethe Ansatz, also called "off shell" Bethe Ansatz. The highest weight property of the solutions is proved. (Part I of a series of articles on the generalized nested Bethe Ansatz and difference equations.)
A system of U(N)-matrix difference equations is solved by means of a nested version of a generalized Bethe Ansatz. The highest weight property of the solutions is proved and some examples of solutions are calculated explicitly. (Part II of a series of articles on the generalized nested Bethe Ansatz and difference equations.)
We use the coordinate Bethe ansatz approach to derive the nested Bethe equations corresponding to the recently found S-matrix for strings in AdS5 x S5, compatible with centrally extended su(2|2) symmetry.
We reformulate the nested coordinate Bethe ansatz in terms of coproducts of Yangian symmetry generators. This allows us to derive the nested Bethe equations for the bound state string S-matrices. We find that they coincide with the Bethe equations obtained from a fusion procedure. The bound state number dependence in the Bethe equations appears through the parameters x^{\pm} and the dressing phase only.
We prove an inversion identity for the open AdS/CFT SU(1|1) quantum spin chain which is exact for finite size. We use this identity, together with an analytic ansatz, to determine the eigenvalues of the transfer matrix and the corresponding Bethe ansatz equations. We also solve the closed chain by algebraic Bethe ansatz.
We solve the $A_{2n}^{(2)}$ vertex model with all kinds of diagonal reflecting matrices by using the algebraic Behe ansatz, which includes constructing the multi-particle states and achieving the eigenvalue of the transfer matrix and corresponding Bethe ansatz equations. When the model is $U_q(B_n)$ quantum invariant, our conclusion agrees with that obtained by analytic Bethe ansatz method.
We give a pedagogical introduction to the Bethe ansatz techniques in integrable QFTs and spin chains. We first discuss and motivate the general framework of asymptotic Bethe ansatz for the spectrum of integrable QFTs in large volume, based on the exact S-matrix. Then we illustrate this method in several concrete theories. The first case we study is the SU(2) chiral Gross-Neveu model. We derive the Bethe equations via algebraic Bethe ansatz, solving in the process the Heisenberg XXX spin chain. We discuss this famous spin chain model in some detail, covering in particular the coordinate Bethe a…
We propose the exact S-matrix for the planar limit of the N=6 super Chern-Simons theory recently proposed by Aharony, Bergman, Jafferis, and Maldacena for the AdS_4/CFT_3 correspondence. Assuming SU(2|2) symmetry, factorizability and certain crossing-unitarity relations, we find the S-matrix including the dressing phase. We use this S-matrix to formulate the asymptotic Bethe ansatz. Our result for the Bethe-Yang equations and corresponding Bethe ansatz equations confirms the all-loop Bethe ansatz equations recently conjectured by Gromov and Vieira.
The finite volume problem of O(2N) sigma models with integrable diagonal boundaries on a finite interval is investigated. The double row transfer matrix is diagonalized by Algebraic Bethe Ansatz. The boundary Bethe Yang equations for the particle rapidities and the accompanying Bethe Ansatz equations are derived.
The anomalous dimensions of local single trace gauge invariant operators in N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory can be computed by diagonalizing a long range integrable Hamiltonian by means of perturbative asymptotic Bethe ansatz. This formalism breaks down when the number of fields of the composite operator is smaller than the range of the Hamiltonian which coincides with the order in perturbation theory at study. We analyze two spin chain toy models which might shed some light on the physics behind these wrapping effects. One of them, the Hubbard model, is known to be closely related to N=4…
The nineteen-vertex models of Zamolodchikov-Fateev, Izergin-Korepin and the supersymmetric osp(1|2) with periodic boundary conditions are studied. We find the spectrum of these quantum spin chains using the Coordinate Bethe Ansatz. The approche is a suitable parametrization of their wavefunctions. We also applied the Algebraic Bethe Ansatz in order to obtain the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of the corresponding transfer matrices.
One-loop corrections to the energy of semiclassical rotating strings contain both analytic and non-analytic terms in the 't Hooft coupling. Analytic contributions agree with the prediction from the string Bethe ansatz based on the classical S-matrix, but in order to include non-analytic contributions quantum corrections are required. We find a general expression for the first quantum correction to the string Bethe ansatz.
We show that SU(n) Bethe Ansatz equations with arbitrary `twist' parameters are hidden inside certain nth order ordinary differential equations, and discuss various consequences of this fact.
We show that the quantum corrected string Bethe ansatz passes an important universality test by demonstrating that it correctly incorporates the non-analytical terms in the string sigma model one-loop correction for rational three-spin strings with two out of the three spins identical. Subsequently, we use the quantum corrected string Bethe ansatz to predict the exact form of the non-analytic terms for the generic rational three-spin string.
We generalise the fusion procedure for the $A_{\n-1}^{(1)}$ open spin chain ($\n>2$) and we show that the transfer matrix satisfies a crossing property. We use these results to solve the $A_{\n-1}^{(1)}$ open spin chain with $U_{q} (SU(\n))$ symmetry by means of the analytical Bethe ansatz method. Our results coincide with the known ones obtained by means of the nested Bethe ansatz.
The full set of polynomial solutions of the nested Bethe Ansatz is constructed for the case of A_2 rational spin chain. The structure and properties of these associated solutions are more various then in the case of usual XXX (A_1) spin chain but their role is similar.
We compare solutions of the quantum string Bethe equations with explicit one-loop calculations in the sigma-model on AdS(5)xS(5). The Bethe ansatz exactly reproduces the spectrum of infinitely long strings. When the length is finite, we find that deviations from the exact answer arise which are exponentially small in the string length.
We discuss the relation between the recently derived bound state S-matrices for the AdS5 x S5 superstring and Yangian symmetry. We will study the relation between this Yangian symmetry and the Bethe ansatz. In particular we can use it to derive the Bethe equations for bound states.
We construct the integral equations by taking the thermodynamic limit of both the all-loop gauge Bethe ansatz equation and the string Bethe ansatz equation for the highest states in the su(1|1) and su(2) sectors of the N=4 super Yang-Mills theory. Using the Fourier transformation we solve the integral equations iteratively to obtain the anomalous dimensions of the highest states in the weak coupling expansion. In the su(1|1) sector we analytically study the strong coupling limit of the anomalous dimension for the all-loop gauge Bethe ansatz equation by means of the Laplace transformation.
The aim of the chapter is to introduce in a pedagogical manner the concept of Thermodynamic Bethe Ansatz designed to calculate the energy levels of finite volume integrable systems and to review how it is applied in the planar AdS/CFT setting.
We investigate the discretized version of the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz equation for a variety of 1+1 dimensional quantum field theories. By computing Lyapunov exponents we establish that many systems of this type exhibit chaotic behaviour, in the sense that their orbits through fixed points are extremely sensitive with regard to the initial conditions.
We propose a set of conventional Bethe Ansatz equations and a corresponding expression for the eigenvalues of the transfer matrix for the open spin-1/2 XXZ quantum spin chain with nondiagonal boundary terms, provided that the boundary parameters obey a certain linear relation.
Moving from the mirror theory Bethe-Yang equations proposed by Arutyunov and Frolov, we derive the thermodynamic Bethe Ansatz equations which should control the spectrum of the planar $\text{AdS}_5/\text{CFT}_4$ correspondence. The associated set of universal functional relations (Y-system) satisfied by the exponentials of the TBA pseudoenergies is deduced, confirming the structure inferred by Gromov, Kazakov and Vieira.
We consider the open spin-s XXZ quantum spin chain with nondiagonal boundary terms. By exploiting certain functional relations at roots of unity, we propose the Bethe ansatz solution for the transfer matrix eigenvalues for cases where atmost two of the boundary parameters are set to be arbitrary and the bulk anisotropy parameter has values η= i π/3, i π/5,... We present numerical evidence to demonstrate completeness of the Bethe ansatz solutions derived for s = 1/2 and s = 1.
We consider the Bethe Ansatz Equations for orbifolds of N =4 SYM w.r.t. an arbitrary discrete group. Techniques used for the Abelian orbifolds can be extended to the generic non-Abelian case with minor modifications. We show how to make a transition between the different notations in the quiver gauge theory.
We generalize the previously established connection between the off-shell Bethe ansatz equation for inhomogeneous SU(2) lattice vertex models in the quasiclassical limit and the solutions of the SU(2) Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equations to the case of arbitrary simple Lie algebras.
We compute the exact S-matrix and give the Bethe ansatz solution for three sigma-models which arise as subsectors of string theory in AdS(5)xS(5): Landau-Lifshitz model (non-relativistic sigma-model on S(2)), Alday-Arutyunov-Frolov model (fermionic sigma-model with su(1|1) symmetry), and Faddeev-Reshetikhin model (string sigma-model on S(3)xR).
Using known all-loop results from the BFKL and generalized double-logarithmic equations and large spin limit we have recomputed the five-loop planar anomalous dimension of twist-2 operators without consideration of any wrapping effects. One part of the anomalous dimension was calculated in an usual way with the help of Asymptotic Bethe Ansatz. The rest part, related with the wrapping effects, was reconstructed from a known constraints with the help of methods from the numbers theory.
We prove that the validity of the recently proposed dressed, asymptotic Bethe ansatz for the planar AdS/CFT system is indeed limited at weak coupling by operator wrapping effects. This is done by comparing the Bethe ansatz predictions for the four-loop anomalous dimension of finite-spin twist-two operators to BFKL constraints from high-energy scattering amplitudes in N=4 gauge theory. We find disagreement, which means that the ansatz breaks down for length-two operators at four-loop order. Our method supplies precision tools for multiple all-loop tests of the veracity of any yet-to-be construc…
We consider the integrable open XX quantum spin chain with nondiagonal boundary terms. We derive an exact inversion identity, using which we obtain the eigenvalues of the transfer matrix and the Bethe Ansatz equations. For generic values of the boundary parameters, the Bethe Ansatz solution is formulated in terms of Jacobian elliptic functions.
Four dimensional irreducible representations of the superalgebra gl(2,1) carry a free parameter. We compute the spectra of the corresponding transfer matrices by means of the nested algebraic Bethe ansatz together with a generalized fusion procedure.
We have considered the Zamolodchikov-Fateev and the Izergin-Korepin models with diagonal reflection boundaries. In each case the eigenspectrum of the transfer matrix is determined by application of the algebraic Bethe Ansatz.
We compute the spectrum and the eigenstates of the open XXX model with non-diagonal (triangular) boundary matrices. Since the boundary matrices are not diagonal, the usual coordinate Bethe ansatz does not work anymore, and we use a generalization of it to solve the problem.
In this paper, the algebraic Bethe ansatz with periodic boundary conditions is used to investigate trigonometric vertex models associated with the fundamental representations of the non-exceptional Lie algebras. This formulation allow us to present explicit expressions for the eigenvectors and eigenvalues of the respective transfer matrices.
We investigate form factors of local operators in the multi-component Quantum Non-linear Schrödinger model, a prototype theory solvable by the so-called nested Bethe Ansatz. We determine the analytic properties of the infinite volume form factors using the coordinate Bethe Ansatz solution and we establish a connection with the finite volume matrix elements. In the two-component models we derive a set of recursion relations for the "magnonic form factors", which are the matrix elements on the nested Bethe Ansatz states. In certain simple cases (involving states with only one spin-impurity) we o…
We describe an integrable model, related to the Gaudin magnet, and its relation to the matrix model of Brezin, Itzykson, Parisi and Zuber. Relation is based on Bethe ansatz for the integrable model and its interpretation using orthogonal polynomials and saddle point approximation. Lagre $N$ limit of the matrix model corresponds to the thermodynamic limit of the integrable system. In this limit (functional) Bethe ansatz is the same as the generating function for correlators of the matrix models.
The semi-classical limit of the algebraic Bethe Ansatz method is used to solve the theory of Gaudin models. Via the off-shell method we find the spectra and eigenvectors of the N-1 independent Gaudin Hamiltonians with symmetry osp(2|1). We also show how the off-shell Gaudin equation solves the trigonometric Knizhnik- Zamolodchikov equation.
In this note I revisit the calculation of partition function of simple one dimensional systems solvable by Bethe Ansatz. Particularly I show that by the precise definition and treatment of the partition function the nontrivial normalization factor proposed in a recent work to give the correct O(1) corrections to the free energy can be derived in a straightforward manner.
We formulate in terms of the quantum inverse scattering method the algebraic Bethe ansatz solution of the one-dimensional Hubbard model. The method developed is based on a new set of commutation relations which encodes a hidden symmetry of 6-vertex type.
We present the construction of the full set of eigenvectors of the open ASEP and XXZ models with special constraints on the boundaries. The method combines both recent constructions of coordinate Bethe Ansatz and the old method of matrix Ansatz specific to the ASEP. This "matrix coordinate Bethe Ansatz" can be viewed as a non-commutative coordinate Bethe Ansatz, the non-commutative part being related to the algebra appearing in
The double row transfer matrix of the open O(N) spin chain is diagonalized and the Bethe Ansatz equations are also derived by the algebraic Bethe Ansatz method including the so far missing case when the residual symmetry is O(2M+1)$\times$O(2N-2M-1). In this case the boundary breaks the "rank" of the O(2N) symmetry leading to nonstandard Bethe Ansatz equations in which the number of Bethe roots is less than as it was in the periodic case. Therefore these cases are similar to soliton-nonpreserving reflections.
Based on the inhomogeneous T-Q relation constructed via the off-diagonal Bethe Ansatz, a systematic method for retrieving the Bethe-type eigenstates of integrable models without obvious reference state is developed by employing certain orthogonal basis of the Hilbert space. With the XXZ spin torus model and the open XXX spin-1/2 chain as examples, we show that for a given inhomogeneous T-Q relation and the associated Bethe Ansatz equations, the constructed Bethe-type eigenstate has a well-defined homogeneous limit.
We study SU(3)-invariant integrable models solvable by nested algebraic Bethe ansatz. We obtain a determinant representation for particular case of scalar products of Bethe vectors. This representation can be used for the calculation of form factors and correlation functions of XXX SU(3)-invariant Heisenberg chain.
In this paper and upcoming ones, we initiate a systematic study of Bethe ansatz equations for integrable models by modern computational algebraic geometry. We show that algebraic geometry provides a natural mathematical language and powerful tools for understanding the structure of solution space of Bethe ansatz equations. In particular, we find novel efficient methods to count the number of solutions of Bethe ansatz equations based on Gröbner basis and quotient ring. We also develop analytical approach based on companion matrix to perform the sum of on-shell quantities over all physical solut…
