We compute the non-planar contribution to the universal anomalous dimension of twist-two operators in N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory at four loops through Lorentz spin eighteen. Exploiting the results of this and our previous calculations along with recent analytic results for the cusp anomalous dimension and some expected analytic properties, we reconstruct a general expression valid for arbitrary Lorentz spin. We study various properties of this general result, such as its large-spin limit, its small-x limit, and others. In particular, we present a prediction for the non-planar contribution to the anomalous dimension of the single-magnon operator in the beta-deformed version of the theory.
We calculate twist-3 parton ditribution functions (PDFs) using cut and uncut diagrams. Uncut diagrams lead to a Dirac delta function term. No such term appears when cut diagrams are used. We show that a $δ(x)$ is necessary to satisfy the Lorentz invariance relations of twist-3 PDFs, except for the Burkhardt-Cottingham sum rule in QCD.
Using Lorentz force equation as an input a Hamiltonian mechanics on the non-projective two twistor phase space TxT is formulated. Such a construction automatically reproduces dynamics of the intrinsic classical relativistic spin. The charge appears as a dynamical variable. It is also shown that if the classical relativistic spin function on TxT vanishes, the natural conformally invariant symplectic structure on TxT reduces to the natural symplectic structure on the cotangent bundle of the Kaluza-Klein space.
This paper together with the previous one (arXiv:hep-th/0604146) presents the detailed description of all quantum deformations of D=4 Lorentz algebra as Hopf algebra in terms of complex and real generators. We describe here in detail two quantum deformations of the D=4 Lorentz algebra o(3,1) obtained by twisting of the standard q-deformation U_{q}(o(3,1)). For the first twisted q-deformation an Abelian twist depending on Cartan generators of o(3,1) is used. The second example of twisting provides a quantum deformation of Cremmer-Gervais type for the Lorentz algebra. For completeness we describ…
We consider $κ$-deformed relativistic quantum phase space and possible implementations of the Lorentz algebra. There are two ways of performing such implementations. One is a simple extension where the Poincaré algebra is unaltered, while the other is a general extension where the Poincaré algebra is deformed. As an example we fix the Jordanian twist and the corresponding realization of noncommutative coordinates, coproduct of momenta and addition of momenta. An extension with a one-parameter family of realizations of the Lorentz generators, dilatation and momenta closing the Poincaré-Weyl alg…
Bilocal light-ray operators which are Lorentz scalars, vectors or antisymmetric tensors, and which appear in various hard scattering QCD processes, are decomposed into operators of definite twist. These operators are harmonic tensor functions and their Taylor expansion consists of (traceless) local light-cone operators with span irreducible representations of the Lorentz group with definite spin j and common geometric twist (= dimension - spin). Some applications concerning the nonforward matrix elements of these operators and the generalization fo conformal light-cone operators of definite tw…
Unique twistor--like Lorentz harmonic formulation for all N=1 supersymmetric extended objects (super-p-branes) moving in the space--time of arbitrary dimension D (admissible for given $p$) are suggested. The equations of motion are derived, explicit form of the κ-symmetry transformations is presented and the classical equivalence to the standard formulation is proved. The cases with minimal world--sheet dimensions $p=1,2$, namely of D=10 heterotic string and D=11 supermembrane, are considered in details. In particular, the explicit form of irreducible κ-symmetry transformations for D=11 superm…
We use the decomposition of o(3,1)=sl(2;C)_1\oplus sl(2;C)_2 in order to describe nonstandard quantum deformation of o(3,1) linked with Jordanian deformation of sl(2;C}. Using twist quantization technique we obtain the deformed coproducts and antipodes which can be expressed in terms of real physical Lorentz generators. We describe the extension of the considered deformation of D=4 Lorentz algebra to the twist deformation of D=4 Poincare algebra with dimensionless deformation parameter.
We describe in detail two-parameter nonstandard quantum deformation of D=4 Lorentz algebra $\mathfrak{o}(3,1)$, linked with Jordanian deformation of $\mathfrak{sl} (2;\mathbb{C})$. Using twist quantization technique we obtain the explicit formulae for the deformed coproducts and antipodes. Further extending the considered deformation to the D=4 Poincaré algebra we obtain a new Hopf-algebraic deformation of four-dimensional relativistic symmetries with dimensionless deformation parameter. Finally, we interpret $\mathfrak{o}(3,1)$ as the D=3 de-Sitter algebra and calculate the contraction limit …
We study two kinematical limits, the Regge limit and the Lorentzian OPE limit, of the four-point function of the stress-tensor multiplet in Super Yang-Mills at weak coupling. We explain how both kinematical limits are controlled by the leading twist operators. We use the known expression of the four-point function up to three loops, to extract the pomeron residue at next-to-leading order. Using this data and the known form of pomeron spin up to next-to-leading order, we predict the behaviour of the four-point function in the Regge limit at higher loops. Specifically, we determine the leading l…
In this paper, using a Hopf-algebraic method, we construct deformed Poincaré SUSY algebra in terms of twisted (Hopf) algebra. By adapting this twist deformed super-Poincaré algrebra as our fundamental symmetry, we can see the consistency between the algebra and non(anti)commutative relation among (super)coordinates and interpret that symmetry of non(anti)commutative QFT is in fact twisted one. The key point is validity of our new twist element that guarantees non(anti)commutativity of space. It is checked in this paper for N=1 case. We also comment on the possibility of noncommutative central …
We construct the twist operator for the Snyder space. Our starting point is a non-associative star product related to a Hermitian realisation of the noncommutative coordinates originally introduced by Snyder. The corresponding coproduct of momenta is non-coassociative. The twist is constructed using a general definition of the star product in terms of a bi-differential operator in the Hopf algebroid approach. The result is given by a closed analytical expression. We prove that this twist reproduces the correct coproducts of the momenta and the Lorentz generators. The twisted Poincaré symmetry …
We study the symplectic reduction of the phase space of two twistors to the cotangent bundle of the Lorentz group. We provide expressions for the Lorentz generators and group elements in terms of the spinors defining the twistors. We use this to define twistor networks as a graph carrying the phase space of two twistors on each edge. We also introduce simple twistor networks, which provide a classical version of the simple projected spin networks living on the boundary Hilbert space of EPRL/FK spin foam models. Finally, we give an expression for the Haar measure in terms of spinors.
We derive and analyze the conditions for quantum conformal and Lorentz invariance of the duality symmetric interacting chiral boson sigma-models, which are conjectured to describe non-geometric string theory backgrounds. The one-loop Weyl and Lorentz anomalies are computed for the general case using the background field method. Subsequently, our results are applied to a class of (on-shell) Lorentz invariant chiral boson models which are based on twisted doubled tori. Our findings are in agreement with those expected from the effective supergravity approach, thereby firmly establishing that the…
We consider the generalized (10+10)-dimensional D=4 quantum phase spaces containing translational and Lorentz spin sectors associated with the dual pair of twist-quantized Poincare Hopf algebra $\mathbb{H}$ and quantum Poincare Hopf group $\widehat{\mathbb{G}}$. Two Hopf algebroid structures of generalized phase spaces with spin sector will be investigated: first one $% \mathcal{H}^{(10,10)}$ describing dynamics on quantum group algebra $% \widehat{\mathbb{G}}$ provided by the Heisenberg double algebra $\mathcal{HD=% }\mathbb{H}\rtimes \widehat{\mathbb{G}}$, and second, denoted by $\mathcal{% …
In this letter we reconsider the role of Lorentz invariance in the dynamical generation of the observed internal symmetries. We argue that, generally, Lorentz invariance can only be imposed in the sense that all Lorentz non-invariant effects caused by the spontaneous breakdown of Lorentz symmetry are physically unobservable. Remarkably, the application of this principle to the most general relativistically invariant Lagrangian, with arbitrary couplings for all the fields involved, leads by itself to the appearance of a symmetry and, what is more, to the massless vector fields gauging this symm…
Recursion relations are succinctly obtained for $(++... +)$ and $(-++... +)$ amplitudes in the context of the space-cone gauge in QCD. We rely on the helicity symmetry of the problems to dictate our choices of reference twistors and the momentum shifts to complexify the amplitudes. Of great importance is the power of gauge Lorentz invariance, which is enough to determine the soft factors in the latter cases.
In recent years, different views on the interpretation of Lorentz covariance of non commuting coordinates were discussed. Here, by a general procedure, we construct the minimal canonical central covariantisation of the k-Minkowski spacetime. We then show that, though the usual k-Minkowski spacetime is covariant under deformed (or twisted) Lorentz action, the resulting framework is equivalent to taking a non covariant restriction of the covariantised model. We conclude with some general comments on the approach of deformed covariance.
We generalize local operators of the leading twist-2 of N=4 SYM theory to the case of complex Lorentz spin j using principal series representation of sl(2,R). We give the direct computation of correlation function of two such non-local operators in the BFKL regime when j -> 1. The correlator appears to have the expected conformal coordinate dependence governed by the anomalous dimension of twist-2 operator in NLO BFKL approximation predicted by Kotikov and Lipatov.
We extend the analysis of hep-th/0408069 on a Lorentz invariant interpretation of noncommutative spacetime to field theories on non-anticommutative superspace with half the supersymmetries broken. By defining a Drinfeld-twisted Hopf superalgebra, it is shown that one can restore twisted supersymmetry and therefore obtain a twisted version of the chiral rings along with certain Ward-Takahashi identities. Moreover, we argue that the representation content of theories on the deformed superspace is identical to that of their undeformed cousins and comment on the consequences of our analysis concer…
A supersymmetric Lorentz invariant mechanism for superspace deformations is proposed. It is based on an extension of superspace by one $λ_{a}$ or several Majorana spinors associated with the Penrose twistor picture. Some examples of Lorentz invariant supersymmetric Poisson and Mojal brackets are constructed and the correspondence: $θ_{mn}\leftrightarrow iψ_{m}ψ_{n},\quad C_{ab}\leftrightarrow λ_{a}λ_{b},\quad Ψ^{a}_{m}\leftrightarrow ψ_{m}λ^{a}$ mapping the brackets depending on the constant background into the Lorentz covariant supersymmetric brackets is established. The correspondence reveal…
We review the computation of the anomalous dimension of twist operators in the planar limit of N=4 SYM using the asymptotic Bethe ansatz and demonstrate how this quantity is obtained at weak, strong and intermediate values of the coupling constant. The anomalous dimension of twist operators in the limit of large Lorentz spin played a major role in the construction as well as in many tests of the asymptotic Bethe equations, this aspect of the story is emphasised.
A four-dimensional field theory with a qualitatively new type of nonlocality is constructed from a setting where Kaluza-Klein particles probe toroidally compactified string theory with twisted boundary conditions. In this theory fundamental particles are not pointlike and occupy a volume proportional to their R-charge. The theory breaks Lorentz invariance but appears to preserve spatial rotations. At low energies, it is approximately N=4 Super Yang-Mills theory, deformed by an operator of dimension seven. The dispersion relation of massless modes in vacuum is unchanged, but under certain condi…
The long range Bethe Ansatz solution of the mixing problem in N=4 SYM allows to compute in a very efficient way multiloop anomalous dimensions of various composite operators. In the case of sl(2) twist operators it is important to obtain closed expressions for the anomalous dimensions in terms of the Lorentz spin. Conjectures are available altough analytical proofs are missing beyond one-loop. In this paper, we will present a method to expand at large spin the solution of the long range Baxter equation in twist 2 and 3. We will also propose sum rules for special singlet states at higher twist.
Abelian 6d (2,0) theory has SO(5) R symmetry. We twist this theory by identifying the R symmetry group with the SO(5) subgroup of the SO(1,5) Lorentz group. This twisted theory can be put on any five-manifold M, times R, while preserving one scalar supercharge. We subsequently assume the existence of one unit normalized Killing vector field on M, and we find a corresponding SO(4) twist that preserves two supercharges and is a generalization of the geometric Langlands twist of 4d SYM. We generalize the story to non-Abelian gauge group for the corresponding 5d SYM theories on M. We derive a vani…
Chiral fermions can be embedded into Souriau's massless spinning particle model by "enslaving" the spin, viewed as a gauge constraint. The latter is not invariant under Lorentz boosts; spin enslavement can be restored, however, by a subsequent Wigner-Souriau (WS) translation, analogous to a compensating gauge transformation. The combined transformation is precisely the recently uncovered twisted boost, which we now extend to finite transformations. WS-translations are identified with the stability group of a motion acting on the right on the Poincare group, whereas the natural Poincare action …
In this contribution, we discuss the He-McKellar-Wilkens effect and the Scalar Aharonov-Bohm effect for neutral particles based on the Lorentz symmetry violation background, by showing that the background of the Lorentz symmetry violation yields abelian quantum phases for a neutral particle. We also study the nonrelativistic bound states for a neutral particle interacting with a Coulomb-like potential based on the Lorentz symmetry violation background given by a fixed vector field parallel to the radial direction.
In a 4D four-fermion model we study the dynamical restoration of Lorentz and CPT symmetries at finite temperature. We evaluate the gap equation both at zero and at finite temperature and observe that, depending on the parameters of the theory, there is a critical temperature at which the Lorentz and CPT symmetries are restored.
We study manifolds with Lorentzian signature and prove that all scalar curvature invariants of all orders vanish in a higher-dimensional Lorentzian spacetime if and only if there exists an aligned non-expanding, non-twisting, geodesic null direction along which the Riemann tensor has negative boost order.
Twisted quantum field theories on the Groenewold-Moyal plane are known to be non-local. Despite this non-locality, it is possible to define a generalized notion of causality. We show that interacting quantum field theories that involve only couplings between matter fields, or between matter fields and minimally coupled U(1) gauge fields are causal in this sense. On the other hand, interactions between matter fields and non-abelian gauge fields violate this generalized causality. We derive the modified Feynman rules emergent from these features. They imply that interactions of matter with non-a…
We show that a static spherically symmetric black hole, in a generic theory of gravity with generic matter fields, has a two-dimensional Lorentz symmetry.
