For $K\subseteq \mathbb{R}^n$ a convex body with the origin $o$ in its interior, and $ϕ:\mathbb{R}^n\setminus\{o\}\rightarrow(0, \infty)$ a continuous function, define the general dual ($L_ϕ)$ Orlicz quermassintegral of $K$ by $$\mathcal{V}_ϕ(K)=\int_{\mathbb{R}^n \setminus K} ϕ(x)\,dx.$$ Under certain conditions on $ϕ$, we prove a variational formula for the general dual ($L_ϕ)$ Orlicz quermassintegral, which motivates the definition of $\widetilde{C}_{ϕ,\mathcal{V}}(K, \cdot)$, the general dual ($L_ϕ)$ Orlicz curvature measure of $K$.
We pose the following general dual Orlicz-Minkowski problem: {\it Given a nonzero finite Borel measure $μ$ defined on $S^{n-1}$ and a continuous function $ϕ: \mathbb{R}^n\setminus\{o\}\rightarrow (0, \infty)$, can one find a constant $τ>0$ and a convex body $K$ (ideally, containing $o$ in its interior), such that,} $$μ=τ\widetilde{C}_{ϕ,\mathcal{V}}(K,\cdot)? $$ Based on the method of Lagrange multipliers and the established variational formula for the general dual ($L_ϕ)$ Orlicz quermassintegral, a solution to the general dual Orlicz-Minkowski problem is provided. In some special cases, the uniqueness of solutions is proved and the solution for $μ$ being a discrete measure is characterized.
In this paper, combining the $p$-capacity for $p\in (1, n)$ with the Orlicz addition of convex domains, we develop the $p$-capacitary Orlicz-Brunn-Minkowski theory. In particular, the Orlicz $L_ϕ$ mixed $p$-capacity of two convex domains is introduced and its geometric interpretation is obtained by the $p$-capacitary Orlicz-Hadamard variational formula. The $p$-capacitary Orlicz-Brunn-Minkowski and Orlicz-Minkowski inequalities are established, and the equivalence of these two inequalities are discussed as well. The $p$-capacitary Orlicz-Minkowski problem is proposed and solved under some mild…
We study the long-time existence and behavior for a class of anisotropic non-homogeneous Gauss curvature flows whose stationary solutions, if exist, solve the regular Orlicz-Minkowski problems. As an application, we obtain old and new results for the regular even Orlicz-Minkowski problems; the corresponding $L_p$ version is the even $L_p$-Minkowski problem for $p>-n-1$. Moreover, employing a parabolic approximation method, we give new proofs of some of the existence results for the general Orlicz-Minkowski problems; the $L_p$ versions are the even $L_p$-Minkowski problem for $p>0$ and the $L_p…
The Orlicz-Brunn-Minkowski theory, introduced by Lutwak, Yang, and Zhang, is a new extension of the classical Brunn-Minkowski theory. It represents a generalization of the $L_p$-Brunn-Minkowski theory, analogous to the way that Orlicz spaces generalize $L_p$ spaces. For appropriate convex functions $φ:[0,\infty)^m\to [0,\infty)$, a new way of combining arbitrary sets in $\R^n$ is introduced. This operation, called Orlicz addition and denoted by $+_φ$, has several desirable properties, but is not associative unless it reduces to $L_p$ addition. A general framework is introduced for the Orlicz-B…
This paper develops basic setting for the dual Orlicz-Brunn-Minkowski theory for star bodies. An Orlicz $φ$-radial addition of two or more star bodies is proposed and related dual Orlicz-Brunn-Minkowski inequality is established. Based on a linear Orlicz $φ$-radial addition of two star bodies, we derive a formula for the Orlicz $L_ϕ$-dual mixed volume. Moreover, a dual Orlicz-Minkowski inequality for the Orlicz $L_ϕ$-dual mixed volume, a dual Orlicz isoperimetric inequality for the Orlicz $L_ϕ$-dual surface area and a dual Orlicz-Urysohn inequality for the Orlicz $L_ϕ$-harmonic mean radius are…
This paper gives a systematic study to the general dual-polar Orlicz-Minkowski problem (e.g., Problem \ref{general-dual-polar}). This problem involves the general dual volume $\widetilde{V}_G(\cdot)$ recently proposed in \cite{GHWXY, GHXY} in order to study the general dual Orlicz-Minkowski problem. As $\widetilde{V}_G(\cdot)$ extends the volume and the $q$th dual volume, the general dual-polar Orlicz-Minkowski problem is "polar" to the recently initiated general dual Orlicz-Minkowski problem in \cite{GHWXY, GHXY} and "dual" to the newly proposed polar Orlicz-Minkowski problem in \cite{LuoYeZh…
In this paper, we deal with the successive inner and outer radii with respect to Orlicz Minkowski sum. The upper and lower bounds for the radii of the Orlicz Minkowski sum of two convex bodies are established.
In this paper, the dual Orlicz curvature measure is proposed and its basic properties are provided. A variational formula for the dual Orlicz-quermassintegral is established in order to give a geometric interpretation of the dual Orlicz curvature measure. Based on the established variational formula, a solution to the dual Orlicz-Minkowski problem regarding the dual Orlicz curvature measure is provided.
Lutwak's notion of affine quermassintegrals of a convex body quickly became of great importance in convex and affine geometry and more recently, also in asymptotic geometric analysis. In this note we introduce the notion of Orlicz mixed affine quermassintegrals of a convex body as a generalization of the affine quermassintegrals in the framework of the Orlicz-Brunn-Minkowski theory. We prove a Orlicz-Minkowski inequality for the Orlicz mixed and affine quermassintegrals, and an Orlicz-Brunn-Minkowski inequality, which provides of a direct generalization of Lutwak's Brunn-Minkowski inequality f…
The general volume of a star body, a notion that includes the usual volume, the $q$th dual volumes, and many previous types of dual mixed volumes, is introduced. A corresponding new general dual Orlicz curvature measure is defined that specializes to the $(p,q)$-dual curvature measures introduced recently by Lutwak, Yang, and Zhang. General variational formulas are established for the general volume of two types of Orlicz linear combinations. One of these is applied to the Minkowski problem for the new general dual Orlicz curvature measure, giving in particular a solution to the Minkowski prob…
In this paper, we propose and study the polar Orlicz-Minkowski problems: under what conditions on a nonzero finite measure $μ$ and a continuous function $φ:(0,\infty)\rightarrow(0,\infty)$, there exists a convex body $K\in\mathcal{K}_0$ such that $K$ is an optimizer of the following optimization problems: \begin{equation*} \inf/\sup \bigg\{\int_{S^{n-1}}φ\big( h_L \big) \,d μ: L \in \mathcal{K}_{0} \ \text{and}\ |L^\circ|=ω_{n}\bigg\}. \end{equation*} The solvability of the polar Orlicz-Minkowski problems is discussed under different conditions. In particular, under certain conditions on $φ,$ …
This paper introduces the dual Orlicz-Brunn-Minkowski theory for star sets. A radial Orlicz addition of two or more star sets is proposed and a corresponding dual Orlicz-Brunn-Minkowski inequality is established. Based on a radial Orlicz linear combination of two star sets, a formula for the dual Orlicz mixed volume is derived and a corresponding dual Orlicz-Minkowski inequality proved. The inequalities proved yield as special cases the precise duals of the conjectured log-Brunn-Minkowski and log-Minkowski inequalities of Böröczky, Lutwak, Yang, and Zhang. A new addition of star sets called ra…
This paper aims to develop basic theory for the dual Orlicz $L_ϕ$ affine and geominimal surface areas for star bodies, which belong to the recent dual Orlicz-Brunn-Minkowski theory for star bodies. Basic properties for these new affine invariants will be provided. Moreover, related Orlicz affine isoperimetric inequality, cyclic inequality, Santaló style inequality and Alexander-Fenchel type inequality are established.
In this paper, we develop a basic theory of Orlicz affine and geominimal surface areas for convex and $s$-concave functions. We prove some basic properties for these newly introduced functional affine invariants and establish related functional affine isoperimetric inequalities as well as functional Santaló type inequalities.
The general dual volume $\dveV(K)$ and the general dual Orlicz curvature measure $\deV(K, \cdot)$ were recently introduced for functions $G: (0, \infty)\times \sphere\rightarrow (0, \infty)$ and convex bodies $K$ in $\R^n$ containing the origin in their interiors. We extend $\dveV(K)$ and $\deV(K, \cdot)$ to more general functions $G: [0, \infty)\times \sphere\rightarrow [0, \infty)$ and to compact convex sets $K$ containing the origin (but not necessarily in their interiors). Some basic properties of the general dual volume and of the dual Orlicz curvature measure, such as the continuous depe…
In the paper, our main aim is to generalize the width integrals to the Orlicz space. Under the framework of Orlicz Brunn-Minkowski theory, we introduce a new affine geometric quantity by calculating Orlicz first order variation of the width integrals, and call as Orlicz mixed width integrals. The fundamental notions and conclusions of the width integrals and Minkoswki and Brunn-Minkowski inequalities for the width integrals are extended to an Orlicz setting and the related concepts and inequalities of Lp mixed width integrals of convex body are also derived.
In the present paper we initiate the study of the Musielak-Orlicz-Brunn-Minkowski theory for convex bodies. In particular, we develop the Musielak-Orlicz-Gauss image problem aiming to characterize the Musielak-Orlicz-Gauss image measure of convex bodies. For a convex body $K$, its Musielak-Orlicz-Gauss image measure, denoted by $\widetilde{C}_Θ(K, \cdot)$, involves a triple $Θ=(G, Ψ, λ)$ where $G$ and $Ψ$ are two Musielak-Orlicz functions defined on $S^{n-1}\times (0, \infty)$ and $λ$ is a nonzero finite Lebesgue measure on the unit sphere $S^{n-1}$. Such a measure can be produced by a variati…
The Orlicz-Brunn-Minkowski theory receives considerable attention recently, and many results in the $L_p$-Brunn-Minkowski theory have been extended to their Orlicz counterparts. The aim of this paper is to develop Orlicz $L_ϕ$ affine and geominimal surface areas for single convex body as well as for multiple convex bodies, which generalize the $L_p$ (mixed) affine and geominimal surface areas -- fundamental concepts in the $L_p$-Brunn-Minkowski theory. Our extensions are different from the general affine surface areas by Ludwig (in Adv. Math. 224 (2010)). Moreover, our definitions for Orlicz $…
By calculating the first order variation of the dual mixed volumes, we put forward a new concept Orlicz multiple dual mixed volumes. The classical dual mixed volumes and dual Aleksandrov-Fenchel inequality are generalized to the Orlicz space. We establish dual Orlicz Aleksandrov-Fenchel inequality and a new concept of Lp multiple dual mixed volume and Lp dual Aleksandrov Fenchel inequality are first derived here, too. The dual Aleksandrov-Fenchel inequality and the Lp-dual Aleksandrov-Fenchel inequality are all special cases of the dual Orlicz-Aleksandrov-Fenchel inequality. As an application,…
The Orlicz-Legendre ellipsoids, which are in the framework of emerging dual Orlicz Brunn-Minkowski theory, are introduced for the first time. They are in some sense dual to the recently found Orlicz-John ellipsoids, and have largely generalized the classical Legendre ellipsoid of inertia. Several new affine isoperimetric inequalities are established. The connection between the characterization of Orlicz-Legendre ellipsoids and isotropy of measures is demonstrated.
In this paper, the Orlicz addition of measures is proposed and an interpretation of the $f$-divergence is provided based on a linear Orlicz addition of two measures. Fundamental inequalities, such as, a dual functional Orlicz-Brunn-Minkowski inequality, are established. We also investigate an optimization problem for the $f$-divergence and establish functional affine isoperimetric inequalities for the dual functional Orlicz affine and geominimal surface areas of measures.
New Orlicz Brunn-Minkowski inequalities are established for rigid motion compatible Minkowski valuations of arbitrary degree. These extend classical log-concavity properties of intrinsic volumes and generalize seminal results of Lutwak and others. Two different approaches which refine previously employed techniques are explored. It is shown that both lead to the same class of Minkowski valuations for which these inequalities hold. An appendix by Semyon Alesker contains the proof of a new classification of generalized translation invariant valuations.
Recently, the duals of Federer's curvature measures, called dual curvature measures, were discovered by Huang, Lutwak, Yang, and Zhang (ACTA, 2016). In the same paper, they posed the dual Minkowski problem, the characterization problem for dual curvature measures, and proved existence results when the index, q, is in (0,n). The dual Minkowski problem includes the Aleksandrov problem (q = 0) and the logarithmic Minkowski problem (q = n) as special cases. In the current work, a complete solution to the dual Minkowski problem whenever q < 0, including both existence and uniqueness, is presented.
The dual Minkowski problem for even data asks what are the necessary and sufficient conditions on an even prescribed measure on the unit sphere for it to be the $q$-th dual curvature measure of an origin-symmetric convex body in $\mathbb{R}^n$. A full solution to this is given when $1 < q < n$. The necessary and sufficient condition is an explicit measure concentration condition. A variational approach is used, where the functional is the sum of a dual quermassintegral and an entropy integral. The proof requires two crucial estimates. The first is an estimate of the entropy integral proved usi…

In his beautiful paper [1], Ben Andrews obtained the complete classification of the solutions of the planar isotropic $L_p$ Minkowski problem. In this paper, by generalizing Ben Andrews's result we obtain the complete classification of the solutions of the planar isotropic $L_p$ dual Minkowski problem, that is, for any $p,q\in\mathbb{R}$ we obtain the complete classification of the solutions of the following equation: \begin{equation*} u^{1-p}(u_θ^2+u^2)^{\frac{q-2}{2}}(u_{θθ}+u)=1\quad\text{on}\ \mathbb{S}^1. \end{equation*} To establish the classification, we convert the ODE for the solution…
Lutwak, Yang and Zhang \cite{LYZ2018} introduced the $L_p$ dual curvature measure that unifies several other geometric measures in dual Brunn-Minkowski theory and Brunn- Minkowski theory. Motivated by works in \cite{LYZ2018}, we consider the uniqueness and continuity of the solution to the $L_p$ dual Minkowski problem. To extend the important work (Theorem \ref{uniquepolytope}) of LYZ to the case for general convex bodies, we establish some new Minkowski-type inequalities which are closely related to the optimization problem associated with the $L_p$ dual Minkowski problem. When $q< p$, the un…
Lutwak's volume inequalities for polar projection bodies of all orders are generalized to polarizations of Minkowski valuations generated by even, zonal measures on the Euclidean unit sphere. This is based on analogues of mixed projection bodies for such Minkowski valuations and a generalization of the notion of centroid bodies. A new integral representation is used to single out Lutwak's inequalities as the strongest among these families of inequalities, which in turn are related to a conjecture on affine quermassintegrals. In the dual setting, a generalization of volume inequalities for inte…
In this paper we study convex caustics in Minkowski billiards. We show that for the Euclidean billiard dynamics in a planar smooth centrally symmetric and strictly convex body $K$, for every convex caustic which $K$ possesses, the "dual" billiard dynamics in which the table is the Euclidean unit disk and the geometry that governs the motion is induced by the body $K$, possesses a dual convex caustic. Such a pair of caustics is dual in a strong sense, and in particular they have the same perimeter, Lazutkin parameter (both measured with respect to the corresponding geometries), and rotation num…
We prove tight subspace concentration inequalities for the dual curvature measures $\widetilde{\mathrm{C}}_q(K,\cdot)$ of an $n$-dimensional origin-symmetric convex body for $q\geq n+1$. This supplements former results obtained in the range $q\leq n$.
In this paper, we first introduce a new concept of {\it dual quermassintegral sum function} of two star bodies and establish Minkowski's type inequality for dual quermassintegral sum of mixed intersection bodies, which is a general form of the Minkowski inequality for mixed intersection bodies. Then, we give the Aleksandrov--Fenchel inequality and the Brunn--Minkowski inequality for mixed intersection bodies and some related results. Our results present, for intersection bodies, all dual inequalities for Lutwak's mixed prosection bodies inequalities.
