In the present article, we combine some techniques in the harmonic analysis together with the geometric approach given by modules over sheaves of rings of twisted differential operators ($\mathcal{D}$-modules), and reformulate the composition series and branching problems for objects in the Bernstein-Gelfand-Gelfand parabolic category $\mathcal{O}^\mathfrak{p}$ geometrically realized on certain orbits in the generalized flag manifolds. The general framework is then applied to the scalar generalized Verma modules supported on the closed Schubert cell of the generalized flag manifold $G/P$ for $G={\rm SL}(n+2,\mathbb{C})$ and $P$ the Heisenberg parabolic subgroup, and the algebraic analysis gives a complete classification of $\mathfrak{g}'_r$-singular vectors for all $\mathfrak{g}'_r=\mathfrak{sl}(n-r+2,\mathbb{C})\,\subset\, \mathfrak{g}=\mathfrak{sl}(n+2,\mathbb{C})$, $n-r > 2$. A consequence of our results is that we classify ${\rm SL}(n-r+2,\mathbb{C})$-covariant differential operators acting on homogeneous line bundles over the complexification of the odd dimensional CR-sphere $S^{2n+1}$ and valued in homogeneous vector bundles over the complexification of the CR-subspheres $S^{2(n-r)+1}$.
We initiate a new study of differential operators with symmetries and combine this with the study of branching laws for Verma modules of reductive Lie algebras. By the criterion for discretely decomposable and multiplicity-free restrictions of generalized Verma modules [T. Kobayashi, http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s00031-012-9180-y {Transf. Groups (2012)}], we are brought to natural settings of parabolic geometries for which there exist unique equivariant differential operators to submanifolds. Then we apply a new method (F-method) relying on the Fourier transform to find singular vectors in genera…
We consider a general parabolic category $\mathcal{O}_{S}$ over symmetrizable Kac-Moody algebras. We introduce a reduction rule of hom-spaces between parabolic Verma modules over different Kac-Moody algebras which yield some applications on parabolic Verma module homomorphisms.
We give a complete combinatorial classification of those parabolic Verma modules in the principal block of the parabolic category $\mathcal{O}$ associated to a minimal or a maximal parabolic subalgebra of the special linear Lie algebra for which the answer to Kostant's problem is positive.
We defined the hyperelliptic Heisenberg algebra as the Heisenberg subalgebra of a hyperlliptic Krichever-Novikov algebra. Then we gave a explicit irreducibility criteria for $φ$-Verma modules for these algebras.
We prove a determinant formula for a parabolic Verma module of a Lie superalgebra, previously conjectured by the second author. Our determinant formula generalizes the previous results of Jantzen for a parabolic Verma module of a (non-super) Lie algebra, and of Kac concerning a (non-parabolic) Verma module for a Lie superalgebra. The resulting formula is expected to have a variety of applications in the study of higher-dimensional supersymmetric conformal field theories. We also discuss irreducibility criteria for the Verma module.
We show that subsingular vectors exist in Verma modules over W(2,2), and present a subquotient structure of these modules. We prove conditions for irreducibility of a tensor product of intermediate series module with the highest weight module. Relations to intertwining operators over vertex operator algebra associated to W(2,2) is discussed. Also, we study a tensor product of intermediate series and highest weight module over the twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro algebra, and present series of irreducible modules with infinite-dimensional weight spaces.
Let $\mathfrak g(G,λ)$ denote the deformed generalized Heisenberg-Virasoro algebra related to a complex parameter $λ\neq-1$ and an additive subgroup $G$ of $\mathbb C$. For a total order on $G$ that is compatible with addition, a Verma module over $\mathfrak g(G,λ)$ is defined. In this paper, we completely determine the irreducibility of these Verma modules.
We shall give a uniform expression and a uniform calculation for the b-functions of prehomogeneous vector spaces of commutative parabolic type, which were previously calculated by case-by-case analysis. Our method is a generalization of Kashiwara's approach using the universal Verma modules. We shall also give a new proof for the criterion of the irreducibility of the generalized Verma module in terms of b-functions due to Suga, Gyoja, Wachi.
Let $g$ be a finite-dimensional simple Lie algebra over the complex number field. We classify the homomorphisms between $g$-modules induced from one-dimensional modules of maximal parabolic subalgebras.
Assuming the Lusztig conjecture on the irreducible characters for reductive algebraic groups in positive characteristic $p$, which is now a theorem for large $p$, we show that the modules for their Frobenius kernels induced from the simple modules of $p$-regular highest weights for their parabolic subgroups are rigid and determine their Loewy series.
Let $\preceq$ be a compatible total order on the additive group $\mathbb{Z}^2$, and $L$ be the rank two Heisenberg-Virasoro algebra. For any $\mathbf{c}=(c_1,c_2,c_3,c_4) \in \mathbb{C}^4$, we define $\mathbb{Z}^2$-graded Verma module $M(\mathbf{c}, \preceq)$ for the Lie algebra $L$. A necessary and sufficient condition for the Verma module $M(\mathbf{c}, \preceq)$ to be irreducible is provided. Moreover, the maximal $\mathbb{Z}^2$-graded submodules of the Verma module $M(\mathbf{c}, \preceq)$ are characterized when $M(\mathbf{c}, \preceq)$ is reducible.
In the present paper we continue the project of systematic classification and construction of invariant differential operators for non-compact semisimple Lie groups. This time we make the stress on one of the main building blocks, namely the Verma modules and the corresponding parabolic subalgebras. In particular, we start the study of the relation between the parabolic subalgebras of real semisimple Lie algebras and of their complexification. Two cases are given in more detail: the conformal algebra of 4D Minkowski space-time and the minimal parabolics of classical real semisimple Lie algebra…
For any additive subgroup $G$ of an arbitrary field $F$ of characteristic zero, there corresponds a generalized Heisenberg-Virasoro algebra $L[G]$. Given a total order of $G$ compatible with its group structure, and any $h,h_I,c,c_I,c_{LI}\in F$, a Verma module $M(h,h_I,c,c_I,c_{LI})$ over $L[G]$ is defined. In the this note, the irreducibility of Verma modules $M(h,h_I,c,c_I,c_{LI})$ is completely determined.
In this paper we give a sum formula for the radical filtration of generalized Verma modules in any (possibly singular) blocks of parabolic BGG category which can be viewed as a generalization of Jantzen sum formula for Verma modules in the usual BGG category $\mathcal{O}$. Combined with Jantzen coefficients, we determine the radical filtrations for all basic generalized Verma modules. The proof makes use of the graded version of parabolic BGG category. Explicit formulae for the graded decomposition numbers and inverse graded decomposition numbers of generalized Verma modules in any (possibly s…
We study the Ext-algebra of the direct sum of all parabolic Verma modules in the principal block of the Bernstein-Gelfand-Gelfand category O for the hermitian symmetric pair $(\mathfrak{gl}_{n+m}, \mathfrak{gl}_{n} \oplus \mathfrak{gl}_m)$ and present the corresponding quiver with relations for the cases n=1, 2. The Kazhdan-Lusztig combinatorics is used to deduce a general vanishing result for the higher multiplications in the A infinity-structure of a minimal model. An explicit example of the higher multiplications with non-vanishing $m_3$ is included.
We construct a categorification of parabolic Verma modules for symmetrizable Kac-Moody algebras using KLR-like diagrammatic algebras. We show that our construction arises naturally from a dg-enhancement of the cyclotomic quotients of the KLR-algebras. As a consequence, we are able to recover the usual categorification of integrable modules. We also introduce a notion of dg-2-representation for quantum Kac--Moody algebras, and in particular of parabolic 2-Verma module.
A parabolic subalgebra $\mathfrak{p}$ of a complex semisimple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ is called a parabolic subalgebra of abelian type if its nilpotent radical is abelian. In this paper, we provide a complete characterization of the parameters for scalar generalized Verma modules attached to parabolic subalgebras of abelian type such that the modules are reducible. The proofs use Jantzen's simplicity criterion, as well as the Enright-Howe-Wallach classification of unitary highest weight modules.
We give branching formulas from $so(7,\mathbb{C})$ to $\mathfrak{g}_2$ for generalized Verma modules attached to $\mathfrak{g}_2$-compatible parabolic subalgebras of $so(7,\mathbb{C})$, and branching formulas from $\mathfrak{g}_2$ to $sl(3,\mathbb{C})$ for generalized Verma modules attached to $sl(3,\mathbb{C})$-compatible parabolic subalgebras of $\mathfrak{g}_2$ respectively, under some assumptions on the parameters of generalized Verma modules.
We develop a general technique of constructing new irreducible weight modules for any affine Kac-Moody algebra using the parabolic induction, in the case when the Levi factor of a parabolic subalgebra is infinite-dimensional and the central charge is nonzero. Our approach uniforms and generalizes all previously known results with imposed restrictions on inducing modules. We also define generalized Imaginary Wakimoto modules which provide an explicit realization for generic generalized Imaginary Verma modules.
This is the author's diploma thesis. In the first part of the thesis the algebra structure on the Ext-spaces Ext^k(M(x), M(y)) of Verma modules M(x) and M(y) in the parabolic category O for the case of the parabolic subalgebras gl(n) x gl(m) for n=1 and n=2 is computed and expressed in terms of quivers. For arbitrary n, more general results about Hom-spaces of projective modules are achieved. The second part of the thesis deals with A-infinity structures on the algebras described above. An explicit construction for a minimal model is given and all higher multiplications are determined in the c…
Let $G$ be a connected, reductive algebraic group over an algebraically closed field $k$ of prime characteristic $p$ and $\mathfrak{g}=Lie(G)$. In this paper, we study representations of $\mathfrak{g}$ with a $p$-character $χ$ of standard Levi form. When $\mathfrak{g}$ is of type $A_n, B_n, C_n$ or $D_n$, a sufficient condition for the irreducibility of standard parabolic baby Verma $\mathfrak{g}$-modules is obtained. This partially answers a question raised by Friedlander and Parshall in [Friedlander E. M. and Parshall B. J., Deformations of Lie algebra representations, Amer. J. Math. 112 (19…
We categorify Verma and indecomposable projective modules in the category $\mathcal I_{\mathfrak{g}}(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$ for $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ using a tensor product decomposition theorem of T. J. Enright and work of J. Chuang and R. Rouquier, A. Licata and A. Savage (Hecke algebras, finite general linear groups, and Heisenberg categorification) and M. Khovanov (Heisenberg algebra and a graphical calculus).
We initiate a new line of investigation on branching problems for generalized Verma modules with respect to complex reductive symmetric pairs (g,k). Here we note that Verma modules of g may not contain any simple module when restricted to a reductive subalgebra k in general. In this article, using the geometry of K_C orbits on the generalized flag variety G_C/P_C, we give a necessary and sufficient condition on the triple (g,k, p) such that the restriction X|_k always contains simple k-modules for any g-module $X$ lying in the parabolic BGG category O^p attached to a parabolic subalgebra p of …
The branching problem for a couple of non-compatible Lie algebras and their parabolic subalgebras applied to generalized Verma modules was recently discussed in \cite{ms}. In the present article, we employ the recently developed F-method, \cite{KOSS1}, \cite{KOSS2} to the couple of non-compatible Lie algebras $({\LieGtwo},{so(7)})$, and generalized conformal ${so(7)}$-Verma modules of scalar type. As a result, we classify the $\LieGtwo \cap \gop'$-singular vectors for this class of $so(7)$-modules.
We describe the structure of the irreducible highest weight modules for the twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro Lie algebra at level zero. We prove that such a module is either isomorphic to a Verma module or to a quotient of two Verma modules.
We explain how Queffelec-Sartori's construction of the HOMFLY-PT link polynomial can be interpreted in terms of parabolic Verma modules for $\mathfrak{gl}_{2n}$. Lifting the construction to the world of categorification, we use parabolic 2-Verma modules to give a higher representation theory construction of Khovanov-Rozansky's triply graded link homology.
Let $g$ be an exceptional Lie superalgebra, and let $p$ be the maximal parabolic subalgebra which contains the distinguished Borel subalgebra and has a purely even Levi subalgebra. For any parabolic Verma module in the parabolic category $O^p$, it is shown that the Jantzen filtration is the unique Loewy filtration, and the decomposition numbers of the layers of the filtration are determined by the coefficients of inverse Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials. An explicit description of the submodule lattices of the parabolic Verma modules is given, and formulae for characters and dimensions of the finit…
We study the homomorphisms between scalar generalized Verma modules. We conjecture that any homomorphism between is composition of elementary homomorphisms. The purpose of this article is to show the conjecture is affirmative for many parabolic subalgebras under the assumption that the infinitesimal characters are regular.
In this paper we study the scalar generalized Verma module $M$ associated to a character of a parabolic subgroup of $\operatorname{SL}(E)$. Here $E$ is a finite dimensional vector space over an algebraically closed field $K$ of characteristic zero. The Verma module $M$ has a canonical simple quotient $L$ with a canonical filtration $F$. In the case when the quotient $L$ is finite dimensional we use left annihilator ideals in $U(\mathfrak{sl}(E))$ and geometric results on jet bundles to generalize to an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero a classical formula of W. Smoke on the str…
Let $\mathfrak{g}$ be a classial Lie algebra and $\mathfrak{p}$ be a maximal parabolic subalgebra. Let $M$ be a generalized Verma module induced from a one dimensional representation of $\mathfrak{p}$. Such $M$ is called a scalar type generalized Verma module. Its simple quotient $L$ is a highest weight moudle. In this paper, we will determine the reducibility of such scalar type generalized Verma modules by computing the Gelfand-Kirillov dimension of $L$.
We study non-standard Verma type modules over the Kac-Moody queer Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{q}(n)^{(2)}$. We give a sufficient condition under which such modules are irreducible. We also give a classification of all irreducible diagonal $\mathbb{Z}$-graded modules over certain Heisenberg Lie superalgebras contained in $\mathfrak{q}(n)^{(2)}$.
Let K be a locally compact nonarchimedean field, g a split reductive Lie algebra over K and U(g) its universal enveloping algebra. We study the category C_g of coadmissible modules over the nonarchimedean Arens-Michael envelope of U(g). Let p be a parabolic subalgebra of g. The main result identifies a certain explicitly given highest weight category inside C_g with the classical parabolic BGG category of g relative to p. This paper is in final form, replaces and expands the former preprint 'BGG reciprocity for p-adic Arens-Michael envelopes of semisimple Lie algebras' and appears in Journal o…
It is shown by Barchini, Kable, and Zierau that conformally invariant systems of differential operators yield explicit homomorphisms between certain generalized Verma modules. In this paper we determine whether or not the homomorphisms arising from such systems of first and second order differential operators associated to maximal parabolic subalgebras of quasi-Heisenberg type are standard.
We investigate the free fields realization of the twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro algebra $\mathcal{H}$ at level zero. We completely describe the structure of the associated Fock representations. Using vertex-algebraic methods and screening operators we construct singular vectors in certain Verma modules as Schur polynomials. We completely solve the irreducibility problem for tensor product of irreducible highest weight modules with intermediate series. We also determine the fusion rules for an interesting subcategory of $\mathcal{H}$-modules. Finally, as an application we present a free field rea…
We study $\mathbb Z$-graded modules of nonzero level with arbitrary weight multiplicities over Heisenberg Lie algebras and the associated generalized loop modules over affine Kac-Moody Lie algebras. We construct new families of such irreducible modules over Heisenberg Lie algebras. Our main result establishes the irreducibility of the corresponding generalized loop modules providing an explicit construction of many new examples of irreducible modules for affine Lie algebras. In particular, to any function $ϕ:\mathbb N\rightarrow \{\pm\}$ we associate a $ϕ$-highest weight module over the Heisen…
The main purpose of the paper is to establish new tools in the study of $\mathcal{O}^\mathfrak{p}$. We introduce the Jantzen coefficients of generalized Verma modules. It comes from the Jantzen's simplicity criteria for generalized Verma modules and has a deep relation with the structure of $\mathcal{O}^\mathfrak{p}$. We develop a reduction process to compute those coefficients. For which we need to consider generalized Verma modules induced from maximal parabolic subalgebras having maximal nontrivial singularity, so called basic generalized Verma modules. The classification of such modules is…
We prove that the Robinson-Schensted-Knuth correspondence is a $\gl_{\infty}$-crystal isomorphism between two realizations of the crystal graph of a generalized Verma module with respect to a maximal parabolic subalgebra of $\gl_{\infty}$. %This extends the previously known result that %the RSK correspondence is an isomorphism of bicrystals or double %crystals. A flagged version of the RSK correspondence is derived in a natural way by computing a Demazure crystal graph of a generalized Verma module. As an application, we discuss a relation between a Demazure crystal and plane partitions with a…
Let G be a semi simple linear algebraic group over a field of characteristic zero and let V be a finite dimensional irreducible G-module with highest weight vector v. Let P in G be the parabolic subgroup fixing v and let g=Lie(G). We get a canonical filtration of V by P-modules U^k(g)v where U^k(g) is the filtration of the universal enveloping algebra U(g). This filtration was in a previous paper studied in the case where P in G=SL(E) is the subgroup fixing an m-dimensional subspace. The aim of this paper is to use higher direct images of G-linearized sheaves, filtrations of generalized Verma …
Imaginary Verma modules, parabolic imaginary Verma modules, and Verma modules at level zero for double affine Lie algebras are constructed using three different triangular decompositions. Their relations are investigated, and several results are generalized from the affine Lie algebras. In particular, imaginary highest weight modules, integrable modules, and irreducibility criterion are also studied.
We show that the Jantzen filtration of a Verma module (possibly singular) coincides with its radical filtration. It implies that the Jantzen Conjecture on Verma modules holds for all infinitesimal characters, while the regular case was settled by Beilinson and Bernstein by geometric methods and reproved by Williamson by an algebraic approach. The coincidence between Jantzen filtration and radical filtration is also generalized to the case of parabolic Verma modules by Shan's results.
We discuss the branching problem for generalized Verma modules $M_λ(\mathfrak g, \mathfrak p)$ applied to couples of reductive Lie algebras $\bar{\mathfrak g}\hookrightarrow \mathfrak g$. The analysis is based on projecting character formulas to quantify the branching, and on the action of the center of $U(\bar{\mathfrak g})$ to explicitly construct singular vectors realizing part of the branching. We demonstrate the results on the pair $\mathrm{Lie}G_2\hookrightarrow{so(7)}$ for both strongly and weakly compatible with $i(\mathrm {Lie} G_2)$ parabolic subalgebras and a large class of inducing…
This paper presents categorifications of (right) cell modules and induced cell modules for Hecke algebras of finite Weyl groups. In type $A$ we show that these categorifications depend only on the isomorphism class of the cell module, not on the cell itself. Our main application is multiplicity formulas for parabolically induced modules over a reductive Lie algebra of type $A$, which finally determines the so-called rough structure of generalized Verma modules. On the way we present several categorification results and give the positive answer to Kostant's problem from \cite{Jo} in many cases.…
We prove a Schur-Weyl duality between the quantum enveloping algebra of $\mathfrak{gl}_m$ and certain quotient algebras of Ariki-Koike algebras, which we give explicitly. The duality involves several algebraically independent parameters and is realized through the tensor product of a parabolic universal Verma module and a tensor power of the natural representation of $\mathfrak{gl}_m$. We also give a new presentation by generators and relations of the generalized blob algebras of Martin and Woodcock as well as an interpretation in terms of Schur-Weyl duality by showing they occur as a particul…
We prove an explicit formula for a projection of singular vectors in the Verma module over a rank 2 Kac-Moody Lie algebra onto the universal enveloping algebra of the Heisenberg Lie algebra and of $sl_{2}$ (Theorem 3). The formula is derived from a more general but less explicit formula due to Feigin, Fuchs and Malikov [Funct. Anal. Appl. 20 (1986), no. 2, 103-113]. In the simpler case of $A_{1}^{1}$ the formula was obtained in [Fuchs D., Funct. Anal. Appl. 23 (1989), no. 2, 154-156].
We suggest a programming realization of an algorithm for verifying a given set of algebraic relations in the form of a supercommutator multiplication table for the Verma module, which is constructed according to a generalized Cartan procedure for a quadratic superalgebra and whose elements are realized as a formal power series with respect to non-commuting elements. To this end, we propose an algebraic procedure of Verma module construction and its realization in terms of non-commuting creation and annihilation operators of a given Heisenberg--Weyl superalgebra. In doing so, we set up a proble…
We study certain ${\mathfrak s}{\mathfrak l}(2,{\mathbb C})$-actions associated to specific examples of branching of scalar generalized Verma modules for compatible pairs $({\mathfrak g},{\mathfrak p})$, $({\mathfrak g}',{\mathfrak p}')$ of Lie algebras and their parabolic subalgebras.
Recurrent relations for branching coefficients are based on a special type of singular element decomposition. We show that this decomposition can be used to construct the parabolic Verma modules and finally to obtain the generalized Weyl-Verma formulas for characters. We demonstrate how branching coefficients can determine the generalized BGG resolution sequence.
In this paper, we show that the Dirac cohomology $H_{D}(L(λ))$ of a simple highest weight module $L(λ)$ in $\mathcal{O}^\mathfrak{p}$ can be parameterized by a specific set of weights: a subset $\mathcal{W}_I(λ)$ of the orbit of the Weyl group $W$ acting on $λ+ρ$. As an application, we show that any simple module in $\mathcal{O}^\mathfrak{p}$ is determined up to isomorphism by its Dirac cohomology. We describe four parameterizations of $H_D(L(λ))$ when $λ$ is regular. Two of these parameterizations are geometric in terms of a partial ordering on the dual of the Cartan subalgebra and a generali…
We describe Borel and parabolic subalgebras of affine Lie superalgebras and study the Verma type modules associated to such subalgebras. We give necessary and sufficient conditions under which these modules are simple.
In this paper we construct conformally invariant systems of first order and second order differential operators associated to a homogeneous line bundle $\Cal{L}_{s} \to G_0/Q_0$ with $Q_0$ a maximal parabolic subgroup of quasi-Heisenberg type. This generalizes the results by Barchini, Kable, and Zierau. To do so we use techniques different from ones used by them.
Let g be a complex reductive Lie algebra and U(g) the universal enveloping algebra of g. Associated to a faithful irreducible finite dimensional representation of g, a square matrix F with entries in U(g) naturally arises and if we consider the entries of F are elements in End(M) of a given U(g)-module M, the minimal polynomial of F is defined as the usual one for an associative algebra over the complex field. Suppose M is a generalized Verma module induced from a character of a parabolic subalgebra of g. In this paper a polynomial q(x) with the parameter of the character is constructed, which…
