We study zeta-functions of weight lattices of compact connected semisimple Lie groups of type $A_3$. Actually we consider zeta-functions of SU(4), SO(6) and PU(4), and give some functional relations and new classes of evaluation formulas for them.
We define zeta-functions of weight lattices of compact connected semisimple Lie groups. If the group is simply-connected, these zeta-functions coincide with ordinary zeta-functions of root systems of associated Lie algebras. In this paper we consider the general connected (but not necessarily simply-connected) case, prove the explicit form of Witten's volume formulas for these zeta-functions, and further prove functional relations among them which include their volume formulas.
This paper draws connections between the double shuffle equations and structure of associators; universal mixed elliptic motives as defined by Hain and Matsumoto; and the Rankin-Selberg method for modular forms for $SL_2(\mathbb{Z})$. We write down explicit formulae for zeta elements $σ_{2n-1}$ (generators of the Tannaka Lie algebra of the category of mixed Tate motives over $\mathbb{Z}$) in depths up to four, give applications to the Broadhurst-Kreimer conjecture, and completely solve the double shuffle equations for multiple zeta values in depths two and three.
In this note we shall study the Witten multiple zeta function associated to the exceptional Lie algebra g_2. Our main result shows that its special values at nonnegative integers can always be expressed as rational linear combinations of the multi-polylogs evaluated at 12th roots of unity, except for two irregular cases.
We define the interpolated polynomial multiple zeta values as a generalization of all of multiple zeta values, multiple zeta-star values, interpolated multiple zeta values, symmetric multiple zeta values, and polynomial multiple zeta values. We then compute the generating function of the sum of interpolated polynomial multiple zeta values of fixed weight, depth, and height.
We prove certain general forms of functional relations among Witten multiple zeta-functions in several variables (or zeta-functions of root systems). The structural background of those functional relations is given by the symmetry with respect to Weyl groups. From those relations we can deduce explicit expressions of values of Witten zeta-functions at positive even integers, which is written in terms of generalized Bernoulli numbers of root systems. Furthermore we introduce generating functions of those Bernoulli numbers of root systems, by which we can give an algorithm of calculating Bernoul…
We study the values of the zeta-function of the root system of type $G_2$ at positive integer points. In our previous work we considered the case when all integers are even, but in the present paper we prove several theorems which include the situation when some of the integers are odd. The underlying reason why we may treat such cases including odd integers is also discussed.
In our previous work, we established the theory of multi-variable Witten zeta-functions, which are called the zeta-functions of root systems. We have already considered the cases of types $A_2$, $A_3$, $B_2$, $B_3$ and $C_3$. In this paper, we consider the case of $G_2$-type. We define certain analogues of Bernoulli polynomials of $G_2$-type and study the generating functions of them to determine the coefficients of Witten's volume formulas of $G_2$-type. Next we consider the meromorphic continuation of the zeta-function of $G_2$-type and determine its possible singularities. Finally, by using…
We present a unified approach which gives completely elementary proofs of three weighted sum formulae for double zeta values. This approach also leads to new evaluations of sums relating to the harmonic numbers, the alternating double zeta values, and the Witten zeta function. We discuss a heuristic for finding or dismissing the existence of similar simple sums. We also produce some new sums from recursions involving the Riemann zeta and the Dirichlet beta functions.
Extended double shuffle relations for multiple zeta values are obtained by the fact that any product of regularized multiple zeta values has two different representations, and the case of two-fold product is considered in general. In this paper, we give two formulas for the generating function of the triple zeta values of any fixed weight by the use of the extended double shuffle relations obtained by not only two-fold products of double and single zeta values but also three-fold products of single zeta values. As applications of the formulas, we also obtain some parameterized, weighted and re…
We study triple zeta values of even weight and show various connections with period polynomials. As a result, an (expected) upper bound of the dimension of the vector space spanned by certain triple zeta values is obtained.
Multiple zeta values are real numbers defined by an infinite series generalizing values of the Riemann zeta function at positive integers. Finite truncations of this series are called multiple harmonic sums and are known to have interesting arithmetic properties. When the truncation point is one less than a prime $p$, the mod $p$ values of multiple harmonic sums are called finite multiple zeta values. The present work introduces a new class of congruence for multiple harmonic sums, which we call weighted congruences. These congruences can hold modulo arbitrarily large powers of $p$. Unlike res…
For odd $N\geq 5$, we establish a short exact sequence about motivic double zeta values $ζ^{\mathfrak{m}}(r,N-r)$ with $r\geq3$ odd, $N-r\geq2$. From this we classify all the relations among depth-graded motivic double zeta values $ζ^{\mathfrak{m}}(r,N-r)$ with $r\geq3$ odd, $N-r\geq2$. As a corollary, we confirm a conjecture of Zagier on the rank of a matrix which concerns relations among multiple zeta values of odd weight.
In 1999, Iwan Duursma defined the zeta function for a linear code as a generating function of its Hamming weight enumerator. It has various properties similar to those of the zeta function of an algebraic curve. This article extends Duursma's theory to the case of the formal weight enumerators and shows that there exists a similar structure to that of the weight enumerators of type II codes. The extremal property of the formal weight enumerators is also considered and an analogue of the Mallows-Sloane bound is deduced.
In this paper we use the generating functions and the double shuffle relations satisfied the multiple zeta values to derive some new families of identities.
We study the depth filtration on multiple zeta values, the motivic Galois group of mixed Tate motives over $\mathbb{Z}$ and the Grothendieck-Teichmüller group, and its relation to modular forms. Using period polynomials for cusp forms for $\mathrm{SL}_2(\mathbb{Z})$, we construct an explicit Lie algebra of solutions to the linearized double shuffle equations, which gives a conjectural description of all identities between multiple zeta values modulo $ζ(2)$ and modulo lower depth. We formulate a single conjecture about the homology of this Lie algebra which implies conjectures due to Broadhurst…
The objective of this paper is to derive symmetric property of (h,q)-Zeta function with weight alpha. By using this property, we give some interesting identities for (h,q)-Genocchi polynomials with weight alpha. As a result, our applications possess a number of interesting property which we state in this paper.
We investigate the proportion of the nontrivial roots of the equation $ζ(s)=a$, which lie on the line $\Re s=1/2$ for $a \in \mathbb C$ not equal to zero. We show that at most one-half of these points lie on the line $\Re s=1/2$. Moreover, assuming a spacing condition on the ordinates of zeros of the Riemann zeta-function, we prove that zero percent of the nontrivial solutions to $ζ(s)=a$ lie on the line $\Re s=1/2$ for any nonzero complex number $a$.
In this note we prove that for all $a \in \mathbb{N}$, $x \in \mathbb{R}_+ \cup \{0\}$, and $s \in \mathbb{C}$ with $\Re(s) > a + 2$, the (alternating) weighted series of the Hurwitz zeta function, $$ \sum_{k \geq 1} (\pm 1)^k (k + x)^aζ(s,k + x), $$ resolves into a finite combination of Hurwitz (Lerch) zeta functions. This applies in Marichal and Zenaïdi's theory on analogues of the Bohr-Mollerup theorem for higher-order convex functions.
In this paper, we give a proof of a conjecture made by Zagier about the inverse of some matrix related to double zeta values of parity $(\mathrm{even},\mathrm{odd})$. As a result, we obtain a family of Bernoulli number identities. We further generalize this family to a more general setting involving binomial coefficients of negative arguments.
For odd $k$, we give a formula for the relations between double zeta values $ζ(r,k-r)$ with $r$ even. This formula provides a connection with the space of cusp forms on $\mathrm{SL}_2(\mathbb{Z})$. This is the odd weight analogue of a result by Gangl, Kaneko and Zagier. We also provide an answer of a question asked by Zagier about the left kernel of some matrix. Although the restricted sum statement fails in the odd weight case, we provide an asymptotical statement that replaces it. Our statement works more generally for restricted sums with any congruence condition on the first entry of the d…
Multiple zeta values (MZVs) are real numbers which are defined by certain multiple series. Recently, many people have researched for relations among them and many relations are well known. In this paper, we get a new relation among them which is a generalization of a formula obtained by Eie, Liaw and Ong, and has four parameters. Moreover, by using similar method, we also obtain a relation which has six parameters.
We establish a short exact sequence about depth-graded motivic double zeta values of even weight relative to $μ_2$. We find a basis for the depth-graded motivic double zeta values relative to $μ_2$ of even weight and a basis for the depth-graded motivic triple zeta values relative to $μ_2$ of odd weight. As an application of our main results, we prove Kaneko and Tasaka's conjectures about the sum odd double zeta values and the classical double zeta values. We also prove an analogue of Kaneko and Tasaka's conjecture in depth three. At last we formulate a conjecture which is related to sum odd m…

We prove a central limit theorem for $\log|ζ(1/2+it)|$ with respect to the measure $|ζ^{(m)}(1/2+it)|^{2k}dt$ ($k,m\in\mathbb N$), assuming RH and the asymptotic formula for twisted and shifted integral moments of zeta. Under the same hypotheses, we also study a shifted case, looking at the measure $|ζ(1/2+it+iα)|^{2k}dt$, with $α\in(-1,1)$. Finally we prove unconditionally the analogue result in the random matrix theory context.
We have studied some properties of the special Gram points of the Riemann zeta function which lie on contour lines ${\bf Im}(ζ( s )) = 0$ which do not contain zeroes of $ζ( s )$. We find that certain functions of these points, which all lie on the critical line ${\bf Re}( s ) = 1/2$, are correlated in remarkable and unexpected ways. We have data up to a height of $t = 10^4$, where $s = σ+ it$.
Let $\mathcal{DZ}_k$ be the $\mathbb{Q}$-vector space spanned by double zeta values with weight $k$, and $\mathcal{DM}_k$ be its quotient space divided by the space $\mathcal{PZ}_k$ spanned by the zeta value $ζ(k)$ and products of two zeta values with total weight $k$. When $k$ is even, an upper bound for the dimension of $\mathcal{DM}_k$ is known. By adding the dimensions of $\mathcal{DM}_k$ and $\mathcal{PZ}_k$, an upper bound of $\mathcal{DZ}_k$ which equals $k/2$ minus the dimension of the space of modular forms of weight $k$ on the modular group is given. In this note, we obtain some spec…
The formal weight enumerators were first introduced by M. Ozeki, and it was shown in the author's previous paper that there are various families of divisible formal weight enumerators. Among them, three families are dealt with in this paper and their properties are investigated: they are analogs of the Mallows-Sloane bound, the extremal property, the Riemann hypothesis, etc. In the course of the investigation, some generalizations of the theory of invariant differential operators developed by I. Duursma and T. Okuda are deduced.
We compute the one-level density of the non-trivial zeros of the Riemann zeta-function weighted by $|ζ(\frac12+it)|^{2k}$ for $k=1$ and, for test functions with Fourier support in $(-\frac12,\frac12)$, for $k=2$. As a consequence, for $k=1,2$, we deduce under the Riemann hypothesis that $T(\log T)^{1-k^2+o(1)}$ non-trivial zeros of $ζ$, of imaginary parts up to $T$, are such that $ζ$ attains a value of size $(\log T)^{k+o(1)}$ at a point which is within $O(1/\log T)$ from the zero.
We study a class of q-analogues of multiple zeta values given by certain formal q-series with rational coefficients. After introducing a notion of weight and depth for these q-analogues of multiple zeta values we present dimension conjectures for the spaces of their weight- and depth-graded parts, which have a similar shape as the conjectures of Zagier and Broadhurst-Kreimer for multiple zeta values.
The aim of the present article is to reveal a structure shared by two basic zeta-functions in their fourth power moments through the view point of representation theory of Lie groups, relying specifically upon the Kirillov model. It might induce one to ponder over the possibility to go beyond.
The study of this paper is inspired by the conjecture of Zagier on the explicit dimension formula for the space of the same weight double zeta values in terms of the dimension of cusp forms for SL_{2}(Z). Our main result is to devise an effective criterion for computing the dimension of the same weight double zeta values over a rational function field F_{q}(theta) in positive characteristic. Contrary to the Zagier's conjecture, the analogue of Zagier's conjectural dimension provides a lower bound for the dimension of the double zeta values when the weight is $A$-even.
We prove and conjecture several relations between multizeta values for $\mathbb{F}_q[t]$, focusing on zeta-like values, namely those whose ratio with the zeta value of the same weight is rational (or equivalently algebraic). In particular, we describe them conjecturally fully for $q=2$, or more generally for any $q$ for `even' weight (`eulerian' tuples). We provide some data in support of the guesses.
This paper is a continuation of our recent papers with the same title, arXiv:0806.1596v1 [math.NT], arXiv:0904.1277v1 where a number of integral equalities involving integrals of the logarithm of the Riemann zeta-function were introduced and it was shown that some of them are equivalent to the Riemann hypothesis. A few new equalities of this type, which this time involve exponential functions, are established, and for the first time we have found equalities involving the integrals of the logarithm of the Riemann zeta-function taken exclusively along the real axis. Some of the equalities we hav…
The theory of Ihara zeta functions is extended to infinite graphs which are weighted and of finite total weight. In this case one gets meromorphic instead of rational functions and the classical determinant formulas of Bass and Ihara hold true with Fredholm determinants.

The formal multiple zeta space we consider with a computer is an $\mathbb{F}_2$-vector space generated by $2^{k-2}$ formal symbols for a given weight $k$, where the symbols satisfy binary extended double shuffle relations. Up to weight $k=22$, we compute the dimensions of the formal multiple zeta spaces, and verify the dimension conjecture on original extended double shuffle relations of real multiple zeta values. Our computations adopt Gaussian forward elimination and give information for spaces filtered by depth. We can observe that the dimensions of the depth-graded formal multiple zeta spa…
Several results are obtained concerning multiplicities of zeros of the Riemann zeta-function $ζ(s)$. They include upper bounds for multiplicities, showing that zeros with large multiplicities have to lie to the left of the line $σ= 1$. A zero-density counting function involving multiplicities is also discussed.
Let $X_{0}=\mathbb{P}^{1} - (\{0,\infty\} \cup μ_{N})\text{ }/\text{ }\mathbb{F}_{q}$, with $N \in \mathbb{N}^{\ast}$ and $\mathbb{F}_{q}$ of characteristic $p>0$ and containing a primitive $N$-th root of unity. We establish an explicit theory of the crystalline pro-unipotent fundamental groupoid of $X_{0}$. In part I, we have computed explicitly the Frobenius, and in particular cyclotomic $p$-adic multiple zeta values. In part II, we use part I to understand the algebraic relations of cyclotomic $p$-adic multiple zeta values via explicit formulas ; this is in particular a study of the harmoni…
We study a polynomial interpolation of finite multiple zeta and zeta-star values with variable $t$, which is an analogue of interpolated multiple zeta values introduced by Yamamoto. We introduce several relations among them and, in particular, prove the cyclic sum formula, the Bowman-Bradley type formula, and the weighted sum formula. The harmonic relation, the shuffle relation, the duality relation, and the derivation relation are also presented.
We investigate the distribution of the logarithmic derivative of the Riemann zeta-function on the line Re(s)=σ, where σ, lies in a certain range near the critical line σ=1/2. For such σ, we show that the distribution of ζ'/ζ(s) converges to a two-dimensional Gaussian distribution in the complex plane. Upper bounds on the rate of convergence to the Gaussian distribution are also obtained.
We show that the duality relation for the sum of multiple zeta values with fixed weight, depth and $k_1$ is deduced from the derivation relations, which was first conjectured by N. Kawasaki and T. Tanaka.
The even weight period polynomial relations in the double shuffle Lie algebra $\mathfrak{ds}$ were discovered by Ihara, and completely classified by the second author by relating them to restricted even period polynomials associated to cusp forms on $\mathrm{SL}_2(\mathbb{Z})$. In an article published in the same year, Gangl, Kaneko and Zagier displayed certain linear combinations of odd-component double zeta values which are equal to scalar multiples of simple zeta values in even weight, and also related them to restricted even period polynomials. In this paper, we relate the two sets of rela…
In this paper, the extended double shuffle relations for interpolated multiple zeta values are established. As an application, Hoffman's relations for interpolated multiple zeta values are proved. Furthermore, a generating function for sums of interpolated multiple zeta values of fixed weight, depth and height is represented by hypergeometric functions, and we discuss some special cases.
Let G by compact p-adic Lie group and suppose that G is FAb, i.e., that H/[H,H] is finite for every open subgroup H of G. The representation zeta function Z(G,s) encodes the distribution of continuous irreducible complex characters of G. Here s denotes a complex variable and Z(G,s) is defined as the Dirichlet generating function whose nth coefficient is equal to the number of irreducible characters of G of degree n. For p greater than 2 it is known that Z(G,s) defines a meromorphic function on the complex plane. Wedderburn's structure theorem for semisimple algebras implies that ZG,-2) = |G| f…
We investigate relations among Schur multiple zeta functions and zeta-functions of root systems attached to semisimple Lie algebras. Schur multiple zeta functions are defined as sums over semi-standard Young tableaux. Then, assuming the Young tableaux is of anti-hook shape, we show that they can be written in terms of modified zeta-functions of root systems of type $A$. Our proof is quite computational, but we also give a pictorial interpretation of our argument in terms of Young tableaux. It is also possible to understand that one of our theorems gives an expression of Schur multiple zeta fun…
Interpolated multiple zeta values can be regarded as interpolation polynomials of multiple zeta values and multiple zeta-star values. In this paper, we give some algebraic relations of interpolated multiple zeta values, such as the symmetric sum formula, the shuffle regularized sum formula, a weighted sum formula and some evaluation formulas with even arguments. All the algebraic relations provided in this paper are deduced from the extended double shuffle relations.
In this paper we shall prove that every Witten multiple zeta value of weight w>3 attached to sl(4) at nonnegative integer arguments is a finite rational linear combinations of MZVs of the weight w and the depths three or less, except for the nine irregular cases where the Riemann zeta value zeta(w-2) and the double zeta values of weight w-1 and depth <3 are also needed.
We review motivic aspects of multiple zeta values, and as an application, we give an exact-numerical algorithm to decompose any (motivic) multiple zeta value of given weight into a chosen basis up to that weight.
For most values of parameters $λ$ and $α$, the zeros of the Lerch zeta-function $L(λ, α, s)$ are distributed very chaotically. In this paper we consider the special case of equal parameters $L(λ, λ, s)$ and show by calculations that the nontrivial zeros either lie extremely close to the critical line $σ= 1/2$ or are distributed almost symmetrically with respect to the critical line. We also investigate this phenomenon theoretically.
Let s_1,...,s_d be d positive integers and consider the multiple Hurwitz-zeta value zeta(s_1,...,s_d;-1/2,...,-1/2)/2^w where w=s_1+...+s_d is called the weight. For d<n+1, let T(2n,d) be the sum of all these values with even arguments whose weight is 2n and whose depth is d. Recently Shen and Cai gave formulas for T(2n,d) for d<6 in terms of t(2n), t(2)t(2n-2) and t(4)t(2n-4). In this short note we generalize Shen-Cai's results to arbitrary depth by using the theory of symmetric functions established by Hoffman.
We study the value-distribution of the Riemann zeta-function and related functions on and near the critical line. Amongst others, we focus on the following: The critical line is a natural boundary of the Voronin-type universality property of the Riemann zeta-function. We study a modified concept of `universality' at the critical line: roughly speaking, we add a scaling factor to the vertical shifts that appear in Voronin's universality theorem. Levinson showed that almost all a-points of the Riemann zeta-function lie in a certain funnel-shaped region around the critical line. We rely on argume…
Interpolated multiple $q$-zeta values are deformation of multiple $q$-zeta values with one parameter, $t$, and restore classical multiple zeta values as $t = 0$ and $q \to 1$. In this paper, we discuss generating functions for sum of interpolated multiple $q$-zeta values with fixed weight, depth and $i$-height. The functions are systematically expressed in terms of the basic hypergeometric functions. Compared with the result of Ohno and Zagier, our result includes three generalizations: general height, $q$-deformation and $t$-interpolation. As an application, we prove some expected relations f…
