The Hamiltonian formulation of the Holst action in vacuum and in the presence of matter fields is analyzed in a generic local Lorentz frame. It is elucidated how the SU(2) gauge symmetry is inferred by reducing the set of constraints to a first-class one. The consequences of the proposed approach for Loop Quantum Gravity and Spin Foam models are discussed.
The Newman-Janis technique and the semi-classical Hamilton-Jacobi approach are two distinct phenomena that we apply in this paper to examine the Hawking temperature $(T_{H})$ for $4$-dimensional gauge super gravity like black hole with rotation parameters. First, using the Newman-Janis algorithmic approach, we compute the gauge super gravity like black holes solution. We use surface gravity to derive the $T_H$ for a gauge super gravity like black hole. In order to do this, we use the Lagrangian field equation in the background of generalized uncertainty principle, semi-classical Hamilton-Jacob…
In general relativity, an inertial frame can only be established in a small region of spacetime, and locally inertial frames are mathematically represented by a tetrad field in gravity. The tetrad field is not unique due to the freedom to perform Lorentz transformations in locally inertial frames, and there exists freedom to choose the locally inertial frame at each spacetime point. The local Lorentz transformations are known as non-Abelian gauge transformations for the tetrad field, and to fix the gauge freedom, corresponding to the Lorentz gauge $\partial^μ\mathcal{A}_μ=0$ and Coulomb gauge …
We plan to translate the successful description of three-dimensional gravity as a gauge theory in the noncommutative framework, making use of the covariant coordinates. We consider two specific three-dimensional fuzzy spaces based on SU(2) and SU(1,1), which carry appropriate symmetry groups. These are the groups we are going to gauge in order to result with the transformations of the gauge fields (dreibein, spin connection and two extra Maxwell fields due to noncommutativity), their corresponding curvatures and eventually determine the action and the equations of motion. Finally, we verify th…
In this article we study the gauge invariant effective energy momentum tensor for cosmological perturbations in f(R) gravity during the inflationary epoch. Considering the super-horizon regime, we derive the effective energy density up to the one-loop corrections. It describes the back-reaction effect of the fluctuations on the background space-time.
We describe a framework for a generalized nonlocal gravity theory inspired by Poincaré gauge theory. Our theory provides a unified description of previous nonlocal extensions of Einstein's theory of gravitation, in particular it allows for a clear geometrical foundation. Furthermore, it incorporates recent simplifications for the ansatz of the nonlocality, which should allow for a systematic study of the impact of nonlocal concepts on observations.
We start by briefly reviewing the description of gravity theories as gauge theories in four dimensions. More specifically we recall the procedure leading to the results of General Relativity and Weyl Gravity in a gauge-theoretic manner. Then, after a brief reminder of the formulation of gauge theories on noncommutative spaces, we review our recent work, where gravity is constructed as a gauge theory on the fuzzy $dS_4$.
The infinite group of deformed diffeomorphisms of the spacetime continuum is put into the basis of the gauge theory of gravity. This gives rise to some new ways for unification of gravity with other gauge interactions.
We study the gravity action built from two gauge fields corresponding to the generators of the conformal group. Starting with the action from which one can obtain Einstein gravity and conformal gravity upon imposing suitable constraints, we keep two independent gauge fields and integrate out the field corresponding to the generator of Lorentz transformations. We identify the two gauge fields with two vierbeins and perturb them around an Anti--de Sitter space. This gives the linearized equations that differ from both, Einstein gravity and conformal gravity linearized equations. We also study th…
We review the basics and the current status of the Poincaré gauge theory of gravity. The general dynamical scheme of Poincaré gauge gravity (PG) is formulated, and its physical consequences are outlined. In particular, we discuss exact solutions with and without torsion, highlight the cosmological aspects, and consider the probing of the spacetime geometry.
Unimodular gravity can be formulated so that transverse diffeomorphisms and Weyl transformations are symmetries of the theory. For this formulation of unimodular gravity, we work out the two-point and three-point $h_{μν}$ contributions to the on-shell classical gravity action in the leading approximation and for an Euclidean AdS background. We conclude that these contributions do not agree with those obtained by using General Relativity due to IR divergent contact terms. The subtraction of these IR divergent terms yields the same IR finite result for both unimodular gravity and General Relativ…
We consider the harmonic gauge condition in linearized gravity, seen as a gauge theory for a symmetric tensor field. Once the harmonic gauge condition is implemented, as customary, according to the Faddeev-Popov procedure, the gauge fixed action still depends on one gauge parameter. Consequently, the harmonic gauge appears to be a class of conditions, rather than a particular one. This allows to give a physical motivation for the covariant harmonic gauge(s), which emerges when the gravitational perturbation is given a mass term. In fact, for a particular choice of harmonic gauge, we find a the…
The weak-gravity bound has been discovered in asymptotically safe gravity-matter systems, where it limits the maximum strength of gravitational fluctuations. In the present paper, we explore it for the first time in systems with more than one gauge field, to discover whether systems with 12 gauge fields (like the Standard Model) exhibit a weak-gravity bound and whether the gravitational fixed point evades it. Further, we test the robustness of the present and previous results on the weak-gravity bound by exploring their dependence on a gravitational gauge parameter. Finally, the existence of t…
