The UV-IR mixing of scalar field theory on the Moyal space is removed by the harmonic term, so that the theory is renormalizable. We will present different properties of this scalar model and its associated gauge theory, which is candidate to renormalizability. The supergeometric interpretation of the harmonic term, for both scalar and gauge models, and related to the Langmann-Szabo duality, will be exposed.
Translation-invariant noncommutative gauge theories are discussed in the setting of matrix modeled gauge theories. Using the matrix model formulation the explicit form of consistent anomalies and consistent Schwinger terms for translation-invariant noncommutative gauge theories are derived.
We study the entanglement entropy of harmonic oscillators in noncommutative phase space. We propose a new definition of quantum Rényi entropy based on Wigner functions in noncommutative phase space. Using the Rényi entropy, we calculate the entanglement entropy of the ground state of the 2D isotropic harmonic oscillators. We find that for some values of the noncommutative parameters, the harmonic oscillators can be entangled in noncommutative phase space. This is a new entanglement-like effect caused by the noncommutativity of the phase space.
A matrix modeling formulation for translation-invariant noncommutative gauge theories is given in the setting of differential graded algebras and quantum groups. Translation-invariant products are discussed in the setting of α-cohomology and it is shown that loop calculations are entirely determined by α-cohomology class of star product in all orders. Noncommutative version of geometric quantization and (anti-) BRST transformations is worked out which leads to a noncommutative description of consistent anomalies and Schwinger terms.
We construct a gauge theory on a noncommutative homogeneous Kähler manifold, where we employ the deformation quantization with separation of variables for Kähler manifolds formulated by Karabegov. A key point in this construction is to obtaining vector fields which act as inner derivations for the deformation quantization. We show that these vector fields are the only Killing vector fields. We give an explicit construction of this gauge theory on noncommutative ${\mathbb C}P^N$ and noncommutative ${\mathbb C}H^N$.
The two dimensional set of canonical relations giving rise to minimal uncertainties previously constructed from a q-deformed oscillator algebra is further investigated. We provide a representation for this algebra in terms of a flat noncommutative space and employ it to study the eigenvalue spectrum for the harmonic oscillator on this space. The perturbative expression for the eigenenergy indicates that the model might possess an exceptional point at which the spectrum becomes complex and its PT-symmetry is spontaneously broken.
The bi-partite Gaussian state, corresponding to an anisotropic harmonic oscillator in a noncommutative-space, is investigated with the help of the Simon's separability condition (generalized Peres-Horodecki criterion). It turns out that, in order to exhibit the entanglement between the noncommutative co-ordinates, the parameters (mass and frequency) have to satisfy an unique constraint equation. Exact solutions for the system are obtained after diagonalizing the model, keeping the intrinsic symplectic structure intact. It is shown that, the identification of the entangled degrees of freedom is…
In this paper, we start the investigation of a new natural approach to "unifying" noncommutative gauge field theories (NCGFT) based on approximately finite-dimensional ($AF$) $C^*$-algebras. The defining inductive sequence of an $AF$ $C^*$-algebra is lifted to enable the construction of a sequence of NCGFT of Yang-Mills-Higgs types. The present paper focus on derivation-based noncommutative field theories. A mathematical study of the ingredients involved in the construction of a NCGFT is given in the framework of $AF$ $C^*$-algebras: derivation-based differential calculus, modules, connections…
The objective of this Ph.D. thesis is the implementation of the Worldline Formalism in the frame of Noncommutative Quantum Field Theories. The result is a master formula for the 1-loop effective action that is applied to a number of scalar models -- among them the Grosse-Wulkenhaar model. As a byproduct we find an expression for the small propertime expansion of general nonlocal operators' Heat Kernel. As an introduction, basic notions of spectral functions, Quantum Field Theories --path integrals and renormalization by means of spectral functions-- and the Worldline Formalism for commutative …
In this short note we review the interpretation of the spectral action for the Yang-Mills system in noncommutative geometry as a higher-derivative gauge theory, adopting an asymptotic expansion in a cutoff parameter. We recall our previous results on superrenormalizability of the resulting higher-derivative Yang-Mills gauge theory and confront this with [6] where these very results were erroneously claimed to be incorrect. We explain how their approach differs from ours, thus clarifying the apparent mismatch.
In this review we present some of the fundamental mathematical structures which permit to define noncommutative gauge field theories. In particular, we emphasize the theory of noncommutative connections, with the notions of curvatures and gauge transformations. Two different approaches to noncommutative geometry are covered: the one based on derivations and the one based on spectral triples. Examples of noncommutative gauge field theories are given to illustrate the constructions and to display some of the common features.
We derive the partition function of the one-body and two-body systems of classical noncommutative harmonic oscillator in two dimensions. Then, we employ the path integral approach to the quantum noncommutative harmonic oscillator and derive the partition function of the both systems at finite temperature.
We construct the photon added coherent states of a noncommutative harmonic oscillator associated to a $q$-deformed oscillator algebra. Various nonclassical properties of the corresponding system are explored, first, by studying two different types of higher order quadrature squeezing, namely the Hillery-type and the Hong--Mandel-type and, second, by testing the sub-Poissonian nature of photon statistics in higher order with the help of the correlation function and the Mandel parameter. By comparing our results with those of the usual harmonic oscillator, we notice that the quadratures and phot…
We use the path integral approach to a two-dimensional noncommutative harmonic oscillator to derive the partition function of the system at finite temperature. It is shown that the result based on the Lagrangian formulation of the problem, coincides with the Hamiltonian derivation of the partition function.
We report on a comprehensive analysis of the renormalization of noncommutative ϕ^4 scalar field theories on the Groenewold-Moyal (GM) plane. These scalar field theories are twisted Poincaré invariant. Our main results are that these scalar field theories are renormalizable, free of UV/IR mixing, possess the same fixed points and β-functions for the couplings as their commutative counterparts. We also argue that similar results hold true for any generic noncommutative field theory with polynomial interactions and involving only pure matter fields. A secondary aim of this work is to provide a co…
This is my PhD thesis. In this thesis we study the gauge theories on noncommutative Moyal space. We find new static solitons and instantons in terms of the so called generalized Bose operators. Generalized Bose operators are constructed to describe reducible representation of the oscillator algebra. They create/annihilate $k$-quanta, $k$ being a positive integer. We start with giving an alternative description to the already found static magnetic flux tube solutions of the noncommutative gauge theories in terms of generalized Bose operators. The Nielsen-Olesen vortex solutions found in terms o…
Noncommutative field theories are a class of theories beyond the standard model of elementary particle physics. Their importance may be summarized in two facts. Firstly as field theories on noncommutative spacetimes they come with natural regularization parameters. Secondly they are related in a natural way to theories of quantum gravity which typically give rise to noncommutative spacetimes. Therefore noncommutative field theories can shed light on the problem of quantizing gravity. An attractive aspect of noncommutative field theories is that they can be formulated so as to preserve spacetim…
First, we briefly review the description of gravity theories as gauge theories in three and four dimensions. Specifically, we recall the procedure in which the results of General Relativity in three and four dimensions are recovered in a gauge-theoretic approach. Also, the procedure is applied for the case of the Weyl gravity, too. Then, after reminding briefly the formulation of gauge theories on noncommutative spaces, we review our most recent works in which gravity models are constructed as gauge theories on noncommutative spaces.
We consider the quantum dynamics of a harmonic oscillator in noncommutative space under the influence of linearized gravitational waves (GW) in the long wave-length and low-velocity limit. Following the prescription in \cite{ncgw1} we quantize the system. The Hamiltonian of the system is solved by using standard algebraic iterative methods. The solution shows signatures of the coordinate noncommutativity via alterations in the oscillation frequency of the harmonic oscillator system from its commutative counterpart. Moreover, it is found that the response of the harmonic oscillator to periodic …
We construct noncommutative versions of both the minimal and the new minimal supersymmetric Grand Unified Theories. The enveloping-algebra formalism is used to carry out such constructions. The beautiful formulation of the Higgs sector of these noncommutative theories is a consequence of fact that, in the GUTs at hand, the ordinary Higgs fields can be realized as elements of the Clifford algebra Cl10(C). In the noncommutative supersymmetric GUTs we formulate, supersymmetry is linearly realized by the noncommutative fields; but it is not realized by the ordinary fields that define those noncomm…
