We obtain a large deviation principle describing the small time asymptotics of the solution of a stochastic evolution equation with multiplicative noise. Our assumptions are a condition on the linear drift operator that is satisfied by generators of analytic semigroups and Lipschitz continuity of the nonlinear drift and dispersion coefficients. Methods originally used by Szymon Peszat for the small noise asymptotics problem are adapted to solve the small time asymptotics problem.
The asymptotic log-Harnack inequality is established for several different models of stochastic differential systems with infinite memory: non-degenerate SDEs, Neutral SDEs, semi-linear SPDEs, and stochastic Hamiltonian systems. As applications, the following properties are derived for the associated segment Markov semigroups: asymptotic heat kernel estimate; uniqueness of the invariant probability measure; asymptotic gradient estimate and hence, asymptotically strong Feller property; and asymptotic irreducibilty.
Fast advection asymptotics for a stochastic reaction-diffusion-advection equation are studied in this paper. To describe the asymptotics, one should consider a suitable class of SPDEs defined on a graph, corresponding to the stream function of the underlying incompressible flow.
We study stochastic volatility models in which the volatility process is a positive continuous function of a continuous Volterra stochastic process. We state some pathwise large deviation principles for the scaled log-price.
This paper is devoted to study the asymptotic properties for the solution of decoupled forward backward stochastic differential equations with delayed generator. As an application, we establish a large deviation principe for solution of the backward equation.
In this paper, we consider coupled forward-backward stochastic differential equations (FBSDEs in short) with parameter $\varepsilon >0$. We study the asymptotic behavior of its solutions and establish a large deviation principle for the corresponding processes.
For one-dimensional stochastic Burgers equation driven by Brownian motion and Poisson process, we study the $ψ$-uniformly exponential ergodicity with $ψ(x)=1+\|x\|$, the moderate deviation principle and the large deviation principle for the occupation measures.
In this paper, we make a slight contribution about the existence (uniqueness) and asymptotic stability of the p-th mean S-asymptotically omega-periodic solutions for some nonautonomous Stochastic Evolution Equations driven by a Q-Brownian motion. This is done using the Banach fixed point Theorem and a Gronwall inequality.
In this paper, a stochastic Gilpin-Ayala population model with regime switching and white noise is considered. All parameters are influenced by stochastic perturbations. The existence of global positive solution, asymptotic stability in probability, $p$th moment exponential stability, extinction, weak persistence, stochastic permanence and stationary distribution of the model are investigated, which generalize some results in the literatures. Moreover, the conditions presented for the stochastic permanence and the existence of stationary distribution improve the previous results.
In this paper, we establish a small time large deviation principles for scalar stochastic conservation laws driven by multiplicative noise. The doubling of variables method plays a key role.
We study the asymptotic behaviour of solutions of Forward Backward Stochastic Differential Equations in the coupled case, when the diffusion coefficient of the forward equation is multiplicatively perturbed by a small parameter that converges to zero. Furthermore, we establish a Large Deviation Principle for the laws of the corresponding processes.
In this paper, we establish a small time large deviation principles for the quasilinear parabolic stochastic partial differential equations with multiplicative noise, which are neither monotone nor locally monotone.
In this paper, we establish a small time large deviation principle for the strong solution of 3D stochastic primitive equations driven by multiplicative noise. Both the small noise and the small, but highly nonlinear, unbounded nonlinear terms should be taken into consideration.
We prove the exponential stability of the zero solution of a stochastic differential equation with a Hölder noise, under the strong dissipativity assumption. As a result, we also prove that there exists a random pullback attractor for a stochastic system under a multiplicative fractional Brownian noise.
In this paper, we first introduce the concept and properties of ω- periodic limit process. Then we apply specific criteria obtained to investigate asymptotically ω-periodic mild solutions of a Stochastic Differential Equation driven by a Brownian motion. Finally, we give an example to show usefulness of the theoritical results that we obtain in the paper.
These notes focus on the applications of the stochastic Taylor expansion of solutions of stochastic differential equations to the study of heat kernels in small times. As an illustration of these methods we provide a new heat kernel proof of the Chern-Gauss-Bonnet theorem.
In this work, we consider the two and three dimensional stochastic convective Brinkman-Forchheimer (SCBF) equations and examine some asymptotic behaviors of its strong solution. We establish the asymptotic log-Harnack inequality for the transition semigroup associated with the SCBF equations driven by additive as well as multiplicative degenerate noise via the asymptotic coupling method. As applications of the asymptotic log-Harnack inequality, we derive the gradient estimate, asymptotic irreducibility, asymptotic strong Feller property, asymptotic heat kernel estimate and ergodicity. Whenever…
The novelty of our paper is to establish results on asymptotic stability of mild solutions in $p$th moment to Riemann-Liouville fractional stochastic neutral differential equations (for short Riemann-Liouville FSNDEs) of order $α\in (\frac{1}{2},1)$ using a Banach's contraction mapping principle. The core point of this paper is to derive the mild solution of FSNDEs involving Riemann-Liouville fractional time-derivative by applying the stochastic version of variation of constants formula. The results are obtained with the help of the theory of fractional differential equations, some properties …
In this paper, we provide a one-to-one correspondence between the solution Y of a BSDE with singular terminal condition and the solution H of a BSDE with singular generator. This result provides the precise asymptotic behavior of Y close to the final time and enlarges the uniqueness result to a wider class of generators.
The goal of the paper is to analytically examine escape probabilities for dynamical systems driven by symmetric $α$-stable Lévy motions. Since escape probabilities are solutions of a type of integro-differential equations (i.e., differential equations with nonlocal interactions), asymptotic methods are offered to solve these equations to obtain escape probabilities when noises are sufficiently small. Three examples are presented to illustrate the asymptotic methods, and asymptotic escape probability is compared with numerical simulations.
In this paper, we prove a central limit theorem and establish a moderate deviation principle for 2D stochastic hydrodynamical type systems with multiplicative noise in unbounded domains, which covers 2D Navier-Stokes equations, 2D MHD models and the 2D magnetic B?enard problem and also shell models of turbulence. The weak convergence method plays an important role in obtaining the moderate deviation principle.
We exhibit some explicit co-adapted couplings for n-dimensional Brownian motion and all its Levy stochastic areas. In the two-dimensional case we show how to derive exact asymptotics for the coupling time under various mixed coupling strategies, using Dufresne's formula for the distribution of exponential functionals of Brownian motion. This yields quantitative asymptotics for the distributions of random times required for certain simultaneous couplings of stochastic area and Brownian motion. The approach also applies to higher dimensions, but will then lead to upper and lower bounds rather th…
In this note we consider the parabolic Anderson model in one dimension with time-independent fractional noise $\dot{W}$ in space. We consider the case $H<\frac{1}{2}$ and get existence and uniqueness of solution. In order to find the quenched asymptotics for the solution we consider its Feynman-Kac representation and explore the asymptotics of the principal eigenvalue for a random operator of the form $\frac{1}{2} Δ+ \dot{W}$.
For a stochastic difference equation $D_n=A_nD_{n-1}+B_n$ which stabilises upon time we study tail distribution asymptotics of $D_n$ under the assumption that the distribution of $\log(1+|A_1|+|B_1|)$ is heavy-tailed, that is, all its positive exponential moments are infinite. The aim of the present paper is three-fold. Firstly, we identify the asymptotic behaviour not only of the stationary tail distribution but also of $D_n$. Secondly, we solve the problem in the general setting when $A$ takes both positive and negative values. Thirdly, we get rid of auxiliary conditions like finiteness of h…
We study multidimensional stochastic volatility models in which the volatility process is a positive continuous function of a continuous multidimensional Volterra process that can be not self-similar. The main results obtained in this paper are a generalization of the results due, in the one-dimensional case, to Cellupica and Pacchiarotti [M. Cellupica and B. Pacchiarotti (2021) Pathwise Asymptotics for Volterra Type Stochastic Volatility Models. Journal of Theoretical Probability, 34(2):682--727]. We state some (pathwise and finite-dimensional) large deviation principles for the scaled log-pr…
Asymptotic couplings by reflection are constructed for a class of non-linear monotone SPDES (stochastic partial differential equations). As applications, the gradient/Hölder estimates as well as the exponential convergence are derived for the associated Markov semigroup. The main results are illustrated by stochastic generalized porous media equations, stochastic $p$-Laplacian equations, and stochastic generalized fast-diffusion equations. We emphasize that the gradient estimate is studied at the first time for these equations.
We consider a stochastic partial differential equation with a logarithmic nonlinearity with singularities at $1$ and $-1$ and a constraint of conservation of the space average. The equation, driven by a trace-class space-time noise, contains a bi-Laplacian in the drift. We obtain existence of solution for equation with polynomial approximation of the nonlinearity. Tightness of this approximated sequence of solutions is proved, leading to a limit transition semi-group. We study the asymptotic properties of this semi-group, showing the existence and uniqueness of invariant measure, asymptotic st…
We study the convergence rate of randomly truncated stochastic algorithms, which consist in the truncation of the standard Robbins-Monro procedure on an increasing sequence of compact sets. Such a truncation is often required in practice to ensure convergence when standard algorithms fail because the expected-value function grows too fast. In this work, we give a self contained proof of a central limit theorem for this algorithm under local assumptions on the expected-value function, which are fairly easy to check in practice.
We continue the development, started in of the asymptotic description of certain stochastic neural networks. We use the Large Deviation Principle (LDP) and the good rate function H announced there to prove that H has a unique minimum mu_e, a stationary measure on the set of trajectories. We characterize this measure by its two marginals, at time 0, and from time 1 to T. The second marginal is a stationary Gaussian measure. With an eye on applications, we show that its mean and covariance operator can be inductively computed. Finally we use the LDP to establish various convergence results, aver…
We consider a class of stochastic reaction-diffusion equations also having a stochastic perturbation on the boundary and we show that when the diffusion rate is much larger than the rate of reaction, it is possible to replace the SPDE by a suitable one-dimensional stochastic differential equation. This replacement is possible under the assumption of spectral gap for the diffusion and is a result of averaging in the fast spatial transport. We also study the fluctuations around the averaged motion.
The two dimensional stochastic Euler equations (EE) perturbed by a linear multiplicative noise of Itô type on the bounded domain $\mathcal{O}$ have been considered in this work. Our first aim is to prove the existence of \textsl{global weak (analytic) solutions} for stochastic EE when the divergence free initial data $\boldsymbol{u}^*\in\mathbb{H}^1(\mathcal{O})$, and the external forcing $\boldsymbol{f}\in\mathrm{L}^2_{\mathrm{loc}}(\mathbb{R};\mathbb{H}^1(\mathcal{O}))$. In order to prove the existence of weak solutions, a vanishing viscosity technique has been adopted. In addition, if $\mat…
In this paper we present a numerical scheme for stochastic differential equations based upon the Wiener chaos expansion. The approximation of a square integrable stochastic differential equation is obtained by cutting off the infinite chaos expansion in chaos order and in number of basis elements. We derive an explicit upper bound for the $L^2$ approximation error associated with our method. The proofs are based upon an application of Malliavin calculus.
We consider a class of stochastic processing networks. Assume that the networks satisfy a complete resource pooling condition. We prove that each maximum pressure policy asymptotically minimizes the workload process in a stochastic processing network in heavy traffic. We also show that, under each quadratic holding cost structure, there is a maximum pressure policy that asymptotically minimizes the holding cost. A key to the optimality proofs is to prove a state space collapse result and a heavy traffic limit theorem for the network processes under a maximum pressure policy. We extend a framew…
Large-time asymptotic properties of solutions to a class of semilinear stochastic wave equations with damping in a bounded domain are considered. First an energy inequality and the exponential bound for a linear stochastic equation are established. Under appropriate conditions, the existence theorem for a unique global solution is given. Next the questions of bounded solutions and the exponential stability of an equilibrium solution, in mean-square and the almost sure sense, are studied. Then, under some sufficient conditions, the existence of a unique invariant measure is proved. Two examples…
In this article, we study the stochastic wave equation in all dimensions $d\leq 3$, driven by a Gaussian noise $\dot{W}$ which does not depend on time. We assume that either the noise is white, or the covariance function of the noise satisfies a scaling property similar to the Riesz kernel. The solution is interpreted in the Skorohod sense using Malliavin calculus. We obtain the exact asymptotic behaviour of the $p$-th moment of the solution either when the time is large or when $p$ is large. For the critical case, that is the case when $d=3$ and the noise is white, we obtain the exact transit…
Consider the following stochastic heat equation, \begin{align*} \frac{\partial u_t(x)}{\partial t}=-ν(-Δ)^{α/2} u_t(x)+σ(u_t(x))\dot{F}(t,\,x), \quad t>0, \; x \in R^d. \end{align*} Here $-ν(-Δ)^{α/2}$ is the fractional Laplacian with $ν>0$ and $α\in (0,2]$, $σ: R\rightarrow R$ is a globally Lipschitz function, and $\dot{F}(t,\,x)$ is a Gaussian noise which is white in time and colored in space. Under some suitable additional conditions, we prove a strong comparison theorem and explore the effect of the initial data on the spatial asymptotic properties of the solution. This constitutes an impo…
In this paper, we study the asymptotic behavior of a semi-linear slow-fast stochastic partial differential equation with singular coefficients. Using the Poisson equation in Hilbert space, we first establish the strong convergence in the averaging principe, which can be viewed as a functional law of large numbers. Then we study the stochastic fluctuations between the original system and its averaged equation. We show that the normalized difference converges weakly to an Ornstein-Uhlenbeck type process, which can be viewed as a functional central limit theorem. Furthermore, rates of convergence…
An asymptotic framework for optimal control of multiclass stochastic processing networks, using formal diffusion approximations under suitable temporal and spatial scaling, by Brownian control problems (BCP) and their equivalent workload formulations (EWF), has been developed by Harrison (1988). This framework has been implemented in many works for constructing asymptotically optimal control policies for a broad range of stochastic network models. To date all asymptotic optimality results for such networks correspond to settings where the solution of the EWF is a reflected Brownian motion in t…
The validity of an approximation formula for European option prices under a general stochastic volatility model is proved in the light of the Edgeworth expansion for ergodic diffusions. The asymptotic expansion is around the Black-Scholes price and is uniform in bounded payoff func- tions. The result provides a validation of an existing singular perturbation expansion formula for the fast mean reverting stochastic volatility model.
We study the long time behavior of the solution of a stochastic PDEs with random coefficients assuming that randomness arises in a different independent scale. We apply the obtained results to 2D- Navier--Stokes equations.
A small-time Edgeworth expansion of the density of an asset price is given under a general stochastic volatility model, from which asymptotic expansions of put option prices and at-the-money implied volatilities follow. A limit theorem for at-the-money implied volatility skew and curvature is also given as a corollary. The rough Bergomi model is treated as an example.
Several methods are available in the literature to stochastically compare random variables and random vectors. We introduce the notion of asymptotic stochastic order for random processes and define four such orders. Various properties and interrelations of the orders are discussed. Sufficient conditions for these orders to hold for certain stochastic processes, evolving from some statistical entities of interest, are derived.
General stochastic Euler schemes for ordinary differential equations are studied. We give proofs on the consistency, the rate of convergence and the asymptotic normality of these procedures.
We establish well-posedness in the mild sense for a class of stochastic semilinear evolution equations with a polynomially growing quasi-monotone nonlinearity and multiplicative Poisson noise. We also study existence and uniqueness of invariant measures for the associated semigroup in the Markovian case. A key role is played by a new maximal inequality for stochastic convolutions in $L_p$ spaces.
A description of the short time behavior of solutions of the Allen-Cahn equation with a smoothened additive noise is presented. The key result is that in the sharp interface limit solutions move according to motion by mean curvature with an additional stochastic forcing. This extends a similar result of Funaki in spatial dimension $n=2$ to arbitrary dimensions.
The stochastic Landau-Lifshitz-Bloch equation describes the phase spins in a ferromagnetic material and has significant role in simulating heat-assisted magnetic recording. In this paper, we consider the deviation of the solution to the 1-D stochastic Landau-Lifshitz-Bloch equation, that is, we give the asymptotic behavior of the trajectory $\frac{u_\varepsilon-u_0}{\sqrt{\varepsilon}λ(\varepsilon)}$ as $\varepsilon\rightarrow 0+$, for $λ(\varepsilon)=\frac{1}{\sqrt{\varepsilon}}$ and $1$ respectively. In other words, the large deviation principle and the central limit theorem are established …
For a harmonic function on a tree with random walk whose transition probabilities are bounded between two constants in (0,1/2), it is known that the radial and stochastic properties of convergence, boundedness and finiteness of energy are all a.s. equivalent. We prove here that the analogous non-tangential properties are a.e. equivalent to the above ones.
We consider several aspects of conjugating symmetry methods, including the method of invariants, with an asymptotic approach. In particular we consider how to extend to the stochastic setting several ideas which are well established in the deterministic one, such as conditional, partial and asymptotic symmetries. A number of explicit examples are presented.
We present a new methodology to analyze large classes of (classical and rough) stochastic volatility models, with special regard to short-time and small noise formulae for option prices. Our main tool is the theory of regularity structures, which we use in the form of [Bayer et al; A regularity structure for rough volatility, 2017]. In essence, we implement a Laplace method on the space of models (in the sense of Hairer), which generalizes classical works of Azencott and Ben Arous on path space and then Aida, Inahama--Kawabi on rough path space. When applied to rough volatility models, e.g. in…
We analyze the asymptotic behaviour of the heat kernel defined by a stochastically perturbed geodesic flow on the cotangent bundle of a Riemannian manifold for small time and small diffusion parameter. This extends WKB-type methods to a particular case of a degenerate Hamiltonian. We derive uniform bounds for the solution of the degenerate Hamiltonian boundary value problem for small time. From this equivalence of solutions of the Hamiltonian equations and the corresponding Hamilton Jacobi equation follows. The results are exploited to derive two sided estimates and multiplicative asymptotics …
In this paper, we study the exact asymptotic separation rate of two distinct solutions of Caputo stochastic multi-term differential equations (Caputo SMTDEs for short). Our goal in this paper is to establish results on the global existence and uniqueness and continuity dependence of the initial values of the solutions to Caputo SMTDEs with non-permutable matrices of order $α\in (\frac{1}{2},1)$ and $β\in (0,1)$ whose coefficients satisfy a standard Lipschitz condition. For this class of systems, we then show the asymptotic separation property between two different solutions of Caputo SMTDEs wi…
We propose and analyze a specific asymptotic stochastic order for random processes based on the measure of departure discussed in the literature. As applications, we stochastically compare mixtures of order statistics and record values coming from two different homogeneous samples, as the sample size becomes large.
