Several methods are available in the literature to stochastically compare random variables and random vectors. We introduce the notion of asymptotic stochastic order for random processes and define four such orders. Various properties and interrelations of the orders are discussed. Sufficient conditions for these orders to hold for certain stochastic processes, evolving from some statistical entities of interest, are derived.
General stochastic Euler schemes for ordinary differential equations are studied. We give proofs on the consistency, the rate of convergence and the asymptotic normality of these procedures.
A parameter estimation problem is considered for a diagonaliazable stochastic evolution equation using a finite number of the Fourier coefficients of the solution. The equation is driven by additive noise that is white in space and fractional in time with the Hurst parameter $H\geq 1/2$. The objective is to study asymptotic properties of the maximum likelihood estimator as the number of the Fourier coefficients increases. A necessary and sufficient condition for consistency and asymptotic normality is presented in terms of the eigenvalues of the operators in the equation.
We derive an asymptotic expansion for the quadratic variation of a stochastic process satisfying a stochastic differential equation driven by a fractional Brownian motion, based on the theory of asymptotic expansion of Skorohod integrals converging to a mixed normal limit. In order to apply the general theory, it is necessary to estimate functionals that are a randomly weighted sum of products of multiple integrals of the fractional Brownian motion, in expanding the quadratic variation and identifying the limit random symbols. To overcome the difficulty, we introduce two types of exponents by …
This paper proposes a unified class of generalized location-scale mixture of multivariate elliptical distributions and studies integral stochastic orderings of random vectors following such distributions. Given a random vector $\boldsymbol{Z}$, independent of $\boldsymbol{X}$ and $\boldsymbol{Y}$, the scale parameter of this class of distributions is mixed with a function $α(\boldsymbol{Z})$ and its skew parameter is mixed with another function $β(\boldsymbol{Z})$. Sufficient (and necessary) conditions are established for stochastically comparing different random vectors stemming from this cla…
We propose and analyze a specific asymptotic stochastic order for random processes based on the measure of departure discussed in the literature. As applications, we stochastically compare mixtures of order statistics and record values coming from two different homogeneous samples, as the sample size becomes large.
In stochastic optimization, a common tool to deal sequentially with large sample is to consider the well-known stochastic gradient algorithm. Nevertheless, since the stepsequence is the same for each direction, this can lead to bad results in practice in case of ill-conditionned problem. To overcome this, adaptive gradient algorithms such that Adagrad or Stochastic Newton algorithms should be prefered. This paper is devoted to the non asymptotic analyis of these adaptive gradient algorithms for strongly convex objective. All the theoretical results will be adapted to linear regression and regu…
Hajek's stochastic comparison result is generalised to multivariate stochastic sum processes with univariate convex data functions and for univariate monoton nondecreasing convex data functions for processes with and without drift respectively. The univariate result is recovered.
For a mixed stochastic differential equation containing both Wiener process and a Hölder continuous process with exponent $γ>1/2$, we prove a stochastic viability theorem. As a consequence, we get a result about positivity of solution and a pathwise comparison theorem. An application to option price estimation is given.
Comparison and converse comparison theorems are important parts of the research on backward stochastic differential equations. In this paper, we obtain comparison results for one dimensional backward stochastic differential equations with Markov chain noise, extending and generalizing previous work under natural and simplified hypotheses, and establish a converse comparison theorem for the same type of equation after giving the definition and properties of a type of nonlinear expectation: $f$-expectation.
A local strict comparison theorem and some converse comparison theorems are proved for reflected backward stochastic differential equations under suitable conditions.
The asymptotic log-Harnack inequality is established for several different models of stochastic differential systems with infinite memory: non-degenerate SDEs, Neutral SDEs, semi-linear SPDEs, and stochastic Hamiltonian systems. As applications, the following properties are derived for the associated segment Markov semigroups: asymptotic heat kernel estimate; uniqueness of the invariant probability measure; asymptotic gradient estimate and hence, asymptotically strong Feller property; and asymptotic irreducibilty.
By the methods of probability and duality technique, we give some comparison theorems for the solutions of infinite horizon forward-backwad stochastic differential equations.
We give a stochastic comparison and ordering of the Tracy-Widom distribution with parameter $β$. In particular, we show that as $β$ grows, the Tracy-Widom random variables get smaller modulo a multiplicative coefficient.
Fast advection asymptotics for a stochastic reaction-diffusion-advection equation are studied in this paper. To describe the asymptotics, one should consider a suitable class of SPDEs defined on a graph, corresponding to the stream function of the underlying incompressible flow.
We study stochastic volatility models in which the volatility process is a positive continuous function of a continuous Volterra stochastic process. We state some pathwise large deviation principles for the scaled log-price.
Under quasi-monotone assumptions for coefficients, we show one kind of comparison theorem for multi-dimensional\textbf{\}backward doubly stochastic differential equations on infinite horizon. An example is given as well.
This paper is devoted to study the asymptotic properties for the solution of decoupled forward backward stochastic differential equations with delayed generator. As an application, we establish a large deviation principe for solution of the backward equation.
For backward stochastic Volterra integral equations (BSVIEs) in multi-dimensional Euclidean spaces, comparison theorems are established in a systematic way for the adapted solutions and adapted M-solutions. For completeness, comparison theorems for (forward) stochastic differential equations, backward stochastic differential equations, and (forward) stochastic Volterra integral equations (FSVIEs) are also presented. Duality principles are used in some relevant proofs. Also, it is found that certain kind of monotonicity conditions play crucial roles to guarantee the comparison theorems for FSVI…
In this paper, we consider coupled forward-backward stochastic differential equations (FBSDEs in short) with parameter $\varepsilon >0$. We study the asymptotic behavior of its solutions and establish a large deviation principle for the corresponding processes.
We provide non-asymptotic convergence rates of the Polyak-Ruppert averaged stochastic gradient descent (SGD) to a normal random vector for a class of twice-differentiable test functions. A crucial intermediate step is proving a non-asymptotic martingale central limit theorem (CLT), i.e., establishing the rates of convergence of a multivariate martingale difference sequence to a normal random vector, which might be of independent interest. We obtain the explicit rates for the multivariate martingale CLT using a combination of Stein's method and Lindeberg's argument, which is then used in conjun…
For one-dimensional stochastic Burgers equation driven by Brownian motion and Poisson process, we study the $ψ$-uniformly exponential ergodicity with $ψ(x)=1+\|x\|$, the moderate deviation principle and the large deviation principle for the occupation measures.
In this paper, we make a slight contribution about the existence (uniqueness) and asymptotic stability of the p-th mean S-asymptotically omega-periodic solutions for some nonautonomous Stochastic Evolution Equations driven by a Q-Brownian motion. This is done using the Banach fixed point Theorem and a Gronwall inequality.
In this paper, a stochastic Gilpin-Ayala population model with regime switching and white noise is considered. All parameters are influenced by stochastic perturbations. The existence of global positive solution, asymptotic stability in probability, $p$th moment exponential stability, extinction, weak persistence, stochastic permanence and stationary distribution of the model are investigated, which generalize some results in the literatures. Moreover, the conditions presented for the stochastic permanence and the existence of stationary distribution improve the previous results.
In this paper, we investigate suffcient and necessary conditions for the comparison theorem of neutral stochastic functional differential equations driven by G-Brownian motion (G-NSFDE). Moreover, the results extend the ones in the linear expectation case [1] and nonlinear expectation framework [8].
In this paper, we establish a small time large deviation principles for scalar stochastic conservation laws driven by multiplicative noise. The doubling of variables method plays a key role.
We study the asymptotic behaviour of solutions of Forward Backward Stochastic Differential Equations in the coupled case, when the diffusion coefficient of the forward equation is multiplicatively perturbed by a small parameter that converges to zero. Furthermore, we establish a Large Deviation Principle for the laws of the corresponding processes.
In this paper, we establish a small time large deviation principles for the quasilinear parabolic stochastic partial differential equations with multiplicative noise, which are neither monotone nor locally monotone.
In this paper, we establish a small time large deviation principle for the strong solution of 3D stochastic primitive equations driven by multiplicative noise. Both the small noise and the small, but highly nonlinear, unbounded nonlinear terms should be taken into consideration.
In this paper, we study conditions under which the solutions of a backward stochastic differential equation with jump remains in a given set of constrains. This property is the so-called "viability property". As an application, we study the comparison theorem for multidimensional BSDEs with jumps.
We prove the exponential stability of the zero solution of a stochastic differential equation with a Hölder noise, under the strong dissipativity assumption. As a result, we also prove that there exists a random pullback attractor for a stochastic system under a multiplicative fractional Brownian noise.
In this work we mainly prove the existence and pathwise uniqueness of solutions to general backward doubly stochastic differential equations with jumps appearing in both forward and backward integral parts. Several comparison theorems under some weak conditions are also given. Finally we apply comparison theorems in proving the existence of solution to some special backward doubly stochastic differential equations with drift coefficient increasing linearly.
These notes focus on the applications of the stochastic Taylor expansion of solutions of stochastic differential equations to the study of heat kernels in small times. As an illustration of these methods we provide a new heat kernel proof of the Chern-Gauss-Bonnet theorem.
We obtain a large deviation principle describing the small time asymptotics of the solution of a stochastic evolution equation with multiplicative noise. Our assumptions are a condition on the linear drift operator that is satisfied by generators of analytic semigroups and Lipschitz continuity of the nonlinear drift and dispersion coefficients. Methods originally used by Szymon Peszat for the small noise asymptotics problem are adapted to solve the small time asymptotics problem.
In this paper we establish a comparison theorem for stochastic differential delay equations with jumps. An example is constructed to demonstrate that the comparison theorem need not hold whenever the diffusion term contains a delay function although the jump-diffusion coefficient could contain a delay function. Moreover, another example is established to show that the comparison theorem is not necessary to be true provided that the jump-diffusion term is non-increasing with respect to the delay variable.
We consider a system of interacting diffusions on the integer lattice. By letting the mesh size go to zero and by using a suitable scaling, we show that the system converges (in a strong sense) to a solution of the stochastic heat equation on the real line. As a consequence, we obtain comparison inequalities for product moments of the stochastic heat equation with different nonlinearities.
A comparison principle for stochastic integro-differential equations driven by Levy processes is proved. This result is obtained via an extension of an Ito formula from [11] for the square of the norm of the positive part of $L_2-$valued, continuous semimartingales, to the case of discontinuous semimartingales.
The validity of an approximation formula for European option prices under a general stochastic volatility model is proved in the light of the Edgeworth expansion for ergodic diffusions. The asymptotic expansion is around the Black-Scholes price and is uniform in bounded payoff func- tions. The result provides a validation of an existing singular perturbation expansion formula for the fast mean reverting stochastic volatility model.
We study the long time behavior of the solution of a stochastic PDEs with random coefficients assuming that randomness arises in a different independent scale. We apply the obtained results to 2D- Navier--Stokes equations.
We consider several aspects of conjugating symmetry methods, including the method of invariants, with an asymptotic approach. In particular we consider how to extend to the stochastic setting several ideas which are well established in the deterministic one, such as conditional, partial and asymptotic symmetries. A number of explicit examples are presented.
In this work, we consider the two and three dimensional stochastic convective Brinkman-Forchheimer (SCBF) equations and examine some asymptotic behaviors of its strong solution. We establish the asymptotic log-Harnack inequality for the transition semigroup associated with the SCBF equations driven by additive as well as multiplicative degenerate noise via the asymptotic coupling method. As applications of the asymptotic log-Harnack inequality, we derive the gradient estimate, asymptotic irreducibility, asymptotic strong Feller property, asymptotic heat kernel estimate and ergodicity. Whenever…
A stochastic comparison result that makes progress towards understanding the classical multitype contact process with unequal death rates is given. It has long been conjectured that the particle type with the largest birth to death rate ratio survives and the other dies out. A point process coupling result of Broman is used to give a sufficient condition for when the dominant particle type survives.
The novelty of our paper is to establish results on asymptotic stability of mild solutions in $p$th moment to Riemann-Liouville fractional stochastic neutral differential equations (for short Riemann-Liouville FSNDEs) of order $α\in (\frac{1}{2},1)$ using a Banach's contraction mapping principle. The core point of this paper is to derive the mild solution of FSNDEs involving Riemann-Liouville fractional time-derivative by applying the stochastic version of variation of constants formula. The results are obtained with the help of the theory of fractional differential equations, some properties …
We present the Walsh theory of stochastic integrals with respect to martingale measures, alongside of the Da Prato and Zabczyk theory of stochastic integrals with respect to Hilbert-space-valued Wiener processes and some other approaches to stochastic integration, and we explore the links between these theories. We then show how each theory can be used to study stochastic partial differential equations, with an emphasis on the stochastic heat and wave equations driven by spatially homogeneous Gaussian noise that is white in time. We compare the solutions produced by the different theories.
In this paper, we provide a one-to-one correspondence between the solution Y of a BSDE with singular terminal condition and the solution H of a BSDE with singular generator. This result provides the precise asymptotic behavior of Y close to the final time and enlarges the uniqueness result to a wider class of generators.
We establish the stochastic comparison principles, including moment comparison principle as a special case, for solutions to the following nonlinear stochastic heat equation on $\mathbb{R}^d$ \[ \left(\frac{\partial }{\partial t} -\frac{1}{2}Δ\right) u(t,x) = ρ(u(t,x)) \:\dot{M}(t,x), \] where $\dot{M}$ is a spatially homogeneous Gaussian noise that is white in time and colored in space, and $ρ$ is a Lipschitz continuous function that vanishes at zero. These results are obtained for rough initial data and under Dalang's condition, namely, $\int_{\mathbb{R}^d}(1+|ξ|^2)^{-1}\hat{f}(\text{d} ξ)<\…
The goal of the paper is to analytically examine escape probabilities for dynamical systems driven by symmetric $α$-stable Lévy motions. Since escape probabilities are solutions of a type of integro-differential equations (i.e., differential equations with nonlocal interactions), asymptotic methods are offered to solve these equations to obtain escape probabilities when noises are sufficiently small. Three examples are presented to illustrate the asymptotic methods, and asymptotic escape probability is compared with numerical simulations.
In this paper, we prove a central limit theorem and establish a moderate deviation principle for 2D stochastic hydrodynamical type systems with multiplicative noise in unbounded domains, which covers 2D Navier-Stokes equations, 2D MHD models and the 2D magnetic B?enard problem and also shell models of turbulence. The weak convergence method plays an important role in obtaining the moderate deviation principle.
We exhibit some explicit co-adapted couplings for n-dimensional Brownian motion and all its Levy stochastic areas. In the two-dimensional case we show how to derive exact asymptotics for the coupling time under various mixed coupling strategies, using Dufresne's formula for the distribution of exponential functionals of Brownian motion. This yields quantitative asymptotics for the distributions of random times required for certain simultaneous couplings of stochastic area and Brownian motion. The approach also applies to higher dimensions, but will then lead to upper and lower bounds rather th…
A small-time Edgeworth expansion of the density of an asset price is given under a general stochastic volatility model, from which asymptotic expansions of put option prices and at-the-money implied volatilities follow. A limit theorem for at-the-money implied volatility skew and curvature is also given as a corollary. The rough Bergomi model is treated as an example.
We establish well-posedness in the mild sense for a class of stochastic semilinear evolution equations with a polynomially growing quasi-monotone nonlinearity and multiplicative Poisson noise. We also study existence and uniqueness of invariant measures for the associated semigroup in the Markovian case. A key role is played by a new maximal inequality for stochastic convolutions in $L_p$ spaces.
In this note we consider the parabolic Anderson model in one dimension with time-independent fractional noise $\dot{W}$ in space. We consider the case $H<\frac{1}{2}$ and get existence and uniqueness of solution. In order to find the quenched asymptotics for the solution we consider its Feynman-Kac representation and explore the asymptotics of the principal eigenvalue for a random operator of the form $\frac{1}{2} Δ+ \dot{W}$.
