We study the general properties of spectral curves associated to doubly-periodic solutions of Korteweg-deVries, sine-Gordon, Non-linear Schrödinger and 1D Toda equations, and construct examples of arbitrary genus.
In this note, we investigate Goppa codes which are constructed by means of Elliptic function field and Hyperelliptic function field. We also give a simple criterion for self-duality of these codes.
Consider a hyperelliptic integral $I=\int P/(Q\sqrt{S}) dx$, $P,Q,S\in\mathbb{K}[x]$, with $[\mathbb{K}:\mathbb{Q}]<\infty$. When $S$ is of degree $\leq 4$, such integral can be calculated in terms of elementary functions and elliptic integrals of three kinds $\mathcal{F},\mathcal{E},Π$. When $S$ is of higher degree, it is typically non elementary, but it is sometimes possible to obtain an expression of $I$ using also elliptic integrals when the Jacobian of $y^2=S(x)$ has elliptic factors. We present an algorithm searching for elliptic factors and a modular criterion for their existence. Then,…
The article is devoted to the classical problems about the relationships between elliptic functions and hyperelliptic functions of genus 2. It contains new results, as well as a derivation from them of well-known results on these issues. Our research was motivated by applications to the theory of equations and dynamical systems integrable in hyperelliptic functions of genus 2. We consider a hyperelliptic curve $V$ of genus 2 which admits a morphism of degree 2 to an elliptic curve. Then there exist two elliptic curves $E_i$, $i=1,2$, and morphisms of degree 2 from $V$ to $E_i$. We construct hy…
We establish a connection between torsion packets on curves of genus $2$ and pairs of elliptic curves realized as double covers of the projective line $\mathbb{P}_{x}^{1}$ that have many common torsion $x$-coordinates. This can be used to show that the set of common torsion $x$-coordinates has size at least $22$ infinitely often and has $34$ elements in some cases. We also explain how we obtained the current record example of a hyperelliptic torsion packet on a genus $2$ curve.
Let $K$ be a field of characteristic different from $2$, $\bar{K}$ its algebraic closure. Let $n \ge 3$ be an odd integer. Let $f(x)$ and $h(x)$ be degree $n$ polynomials with coefficients in $K$ and without repeated roots. Let us consider genus $(n-1)/2$ hyperelliptic curves $C_f: y^2=f(x)$ and $C_h: y^2=h(x)$, and their jacobians $J(C_f)$ and $J(C_h)$, which are $(n-1)/2$-dimensional abelian varieties defined over $K$. Suppose that one of the polynomials is irreducible and the other splits completely over $K$. We prove that if $J(C_f)$ and $J(C_h)$ are isogenous over $\bar{K}$ then there is …
Let $n$ be an integer such that the modular curve $X_0(n)$ is hyperelliptic of genus $\ge2$ and such that the Jacobian of $X_0(n)$ has rank $0$ over $\mathbb Q$. We determine all points of $X_0(n)$ defined over quadratic fields, and we give a moduli interpretation of these points. As a consequence, we show that up to $\overline{\mathbb Q}$-isomorphism, all but finitely many elliptic curves with $n$-isogenies over quadratic fields are in fact $\mathbb Q$-curves, and we list all exceptions. We also show that, again with finitely many exceptions up to $\overline{\mathbb Q}$-isomorphism, every $\m…

We complete the computation of all $\mathbb{Q}$-rational points on all the $64$ maximal Atkin-Lehner quotients $X_0(N)^*$ such that the quotient is hyperelliptic. To achieve this, we use a combination of various methods, namely the classical Chabauty--Coleman, elliptic curve Chabauty, quadratic Chabauty, and the bielliptic quadratic Chabauty method combined with the Mordell-Weil sieve. Additionally, for square-free levels $N$, we classify all $\mathbb{Q}$-rational points as cusps, CM points (including their CM field and $j$-invariants) and exceptional ones. We further indicate how to use this …
Let $K$ be a field of characteristic different from $2$, $\bar{K}$ its algebraic closure. Let $n \ge 3$ be an odd prime such that $2$ is a primitive root modulo $n$. Suppose that one of the polynomials is irreducible and the other reducible. We prove that if $J(C_f)$ and $J(C_h)$ are isogenous ove…
In his previous papers (Math. Res. Letters 7 (2000), 123--13; Progress in Math. 195 (2001), 473--490; Math. Res. Letters 8 (2001), 429--435; Moscow Math. J. 2 (2002), issue 2, 403-431; Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 131 (2003), no. 1, 95--102) the author introduced certain explicit constructions of hyperelliptic jacobians without nontrivial endomorphisms. In the present paper we discuss when these jacobians are mutually non-isogenous. In addition, a special case ($n=m=3$) of our Theorem 1.2 provides the following criterion for elliptic curves $C_f: y^2=f(x)$ and $C_h: y^2=h(x)$ to be non-isogenous. (H…
{\it $(N,γ)$-hyperelliptic} semigroups were introduced by Fernando Torres to encapsulate the most salient properties of Weierstrass semigroups associated to totally-ramified points of $N$-fold covers of curves of genus $γ$. Torres characterized $(2,γ)$-hyperelliptic semigroups of maximal weight whenever their genus is large relative to $γ$. Here we do the same for $(3,γ)$-hyperelliptic semigroups, and we formulate a conjecture about the general case whenever $N \geq 3$ is prime.
Separating semigroup of hyperelliptic curves and of genus 3 curves
实代数曲线$C$上的有理函数称为分离的,如果它只在实点处取实值。这样的函数定义覆盖$\Bbb R C\to\Bbb{RP}^1$。
This paper is the second in a series of four papers aiming to describe the (almost integral) Chow ring of $\Mbar_3$, the moduli stack of stable curves of genus $3$. In this paper, we introduce the moduli stack $\Htilde_g^r$ of hyperelliptic $A_r$-stable curves and generalize the theory of hyperelliptic stable curves to hyperelliptic $A_r$-stable curves. In particular, we prove that $\Htilde_g^r$ is a smooth algebraic stacks which can be described using cyclic covers of twisted curves of genus $0$ and it embeds in $\Mtilde_g^r$ (the moduli stack of $A_r$-stable curves) as the closure of the mod…
Let $p:S\to S_g$ be a finite $G$-covering of a closed surface of genus $g\geq 1$ and let $B$ its branch locus. To this data, it is associated a representation of a finite index subgroup of the mapping class group $\operatorname{Mod}(S_g\smallsetminus B)$ in the centralizer of the group $G$ in the symplectic group $\operatorname{Sp}(H_1(S,{\mathbb Q}))$. They are called \emph{virtual linear representations} of the mapping class group and are related, via a conjecture of Putman and Wieland, to a question of Kirby and Ivanov on the abelianization of finite index subgroup of the mapping class grou…
