It is a translation of an old paper of mine. We describe the topology tau_p in the space Pi_p(Y,X), for which the closures of convex sets in tau_p and in *-weak topology of the space Pi_p(Y,X) are coincident. Thereafter, we investigate some properties of the space Pi_p, related to this new topology. 2010-remark: Occasionally, the topology is coincides with the lambda_p-topology from the paper "Compact operators which factor through subspaces of l_p", Math. Nachr. 281(2008), 412-423 by Deba Prasad Sinha and Anil Kumar Karn.
Suppose $E$ is a Banach lattice. Recently, there have been some motivating contexts regarding the known Banach-Saks property and the Grothendieck property from an order point of view. In this paper, we establish these results for operators that enjoy different types considered for the Banach-Saks property as well as for different notions related to the Grothendieck property. In particular, beside other results, we characterize order continuity and reflexivity of Banach lattices in terms of the corresponding bounded operators defined on them.
The notion of linear Hahn-Banach extension operator was first studied in detail by Heinrich and Mankiewicz (1982). Previously, J. Lindenstrauss (1966) studied similar versions of this notion in the context of non separable reflexive Banach spaces. Subsequently, Sims and Yost (1989) proved the existence of linear Hahn-Banach extension operators via interspersing subspaces in a purely Banach space theoretic set up. EP Banach space operators and EP Banach algebra elements are characterized using different kinds of factorizations. The results obtained generalize well-known characterizations of EP matrices, EP Hilbert space operators and EP $C^*$-algebra elements. Furthermore, new results that hold in these contexts are presented.
Several characterizations of EP and normal Moore-Penrose invertible Banach algebra elements will be considered. The Banach space operator case will be also studied. The results of the present article will extend well known facts obtained in the frames of matrices and Hilbert space operators.
Given a Banach Algebra $A$ and $a\in A$, several relations among the Drazin spectrum of $a$ and the Drazin spectra of the multiplication operators $L_a$ and $R_a$ will be stated. The Banach space operator case will be also examined. Furthermore, a characterization of the Drazin spectrum will be considered.
We study $k-$smoothness of bounded linear operators defined between arbitrary Banach spaces. As an application, we characterize $k-$smooth operators defined from $\ell_1^n$ to an arbitrary Banach space. The main concern of this note is the Moore-Penrose inverse in the context of Banach spaces and algebras. Especially attention will be given to a particular class of elements with the aforementioned inverse, namely EP Banach space operators and Banach algebra elements, which will be studied and characterized extending well-known results obtained in the frame of Hilbert space operators and $C^*$-algebra elements.
We present many examples of Banach spaces of linear operators and homogeneous polynomials without the approximation property, thus improving results of Dineen and Mujica [11] and Godefroy and Saphar [13].
In view of the fact that some classical methods to construct multi-ideals fail in constructing hyper-ideals, in this paper we develop two new methods to construct hyper-ideals of multilinear operators between Banach spaces. These methods generate new classes of multilinear operators and show that some important well studied classes are Banach or p-Banach hyper-ideals.

We introduce and study the enveloping norms of regularly P-operators between Banach lattices E and F, where P is a subspace of the space L(E,F) of continuous operators from E to F. We prove that if P is closed in L(E,F) in the operator norm then the regularly P-operators forms a Banach space under the enveloping norm. Conditions providing that regularly P-operators forms a Banach lattice under the enveloping norm are given.

An operator $T:X\to Y$ between Banach spaces $X$ and $Y$ is called a Hahn-Banach operator if for every isometric embedding of the space $X$ into a Banach space $Z$ there exists a norm-preserving extension $\tilde T$ of $T$ to $Z$. A geometric property of Hahn-Banach operators of finite rank acting between finite-dimensional normed spaces is found. In this this paper, we introduce new classes of operators in complex Banach spaces, which we call k-bitransitive operators and compound operators to study the direct sum of diskcyclic operators. We create a set of sufficient conditions for k-bitransitivity and compound. We show the relation between topologically mixing operators and compound operators. Also, we extend the Godefroy-Shapiro Criterion for topologically mixing operators to compound operators.
We study the relationship between exact interpolation spaces for positive, linear operators, for order preserving, Lipschitz continuous operators, and for positive Gagliardo-Peetre operators, and exact partially $K$-monotone spaces in interpolation couples of compatible Banach lattices. By general Banach lattice theory we recover a characterisation of exact interpolation spaces for order preserving, Lipschitz continuous operators in the couple $(L^1,L^\infty )$ due to Bénilan and Crandall.
Given a Banach space $E$, we ask which closed subspaces may be realised as the kernel of a bounded operator $E \rightarrow E$. We prove some positive results which imply in particular that when $E$ is separable every closed subspace is a kernel. Moreover, we show that there exists a Banach space $E$ which contains a closed subspace that cannot be realized as the kernel of any bounded operator on $E$. The discrete Cesàro operator $ C $ acts continuously in various classical Banach sequence spaces within $ \mathbb{C}^{\mathbb{N}}.$ For the coordinatewise order, many such sequence spaces $ X $ are also complex Banach lattices (eg. $c_0, \ell^p $ for $ 1 < p \leq \infty , $ and $ ces (p)$ for $ p \in \{ 0 \} \cup ( 1, \infty )).$ In such Banach lattice sequence spaces, $ C $ is always a positive operator. In this paper we give some results about the approximation of a Lipschitz function on a Banach space by means of $Δ$-convex functions. In particular, we prove that the density of $Δ$-convex functions in the set of Lipschitz functions for the topology of uniform convergence on bounded sets characterizes the superreflexivity of the Banach space. We also show that Lipschitz functions on superreflexive Banach spaces are uniform limits on the whole space of $Δ$-convex functions.
This paper extends the well-known Ringrose theory for compact operators to polynomially Riesz operators on Banach spaces. The particular case of an ideal-triangularizable Riesz operator on an order continuous Banach lattice yields that the spectrum of such operator lies on its diagonal, which motivates the systematic study of an abstract diagonal of a regular operator on an order complete vector lattice $E$. We show that for each Banach ideal of homogeneous polynomials, there exists a (necessarily unique) Banach operator ideal compatible with it. Analogously, we prove that any ideal of $n$-homogeneous polynomials belongs to a coherent sequence of ideals of $k$-homogeneous polynomials.
We describe the spectrum of weighted $d$-isomorphisms of Banach lattices restricted on closed subspaces that are "rich" enough to preserve some "memory" of the order structure of the original lattice. The examples include (but are not limited to) weighted isometries of Hardy spaces on the polydisk and unit ball in $\mathds{C}^n$.
By introducing the concepts of order almost Dunford-Pettis and almost weakly limited operators in Banach lattices, we give some properties of them related to some well known classes of operators, such as, order weakly compact, order Dunford-Pettis, weak and almost Dunford-Pettis and weakly limited operators. Several recent papers were devoted to various modifications of limited, Grothendieck, and Dunford--Pettis operators, etc., through involving the Banach lattice structure. A finite-dimensional analogue of the known Gordon-Lewis constant of a Banach space X is introduced; in its definition are used only finite rank operators. It is shown that there exist Banach spaces such that the standard Gordon-Lewis constant of X is finite and its finite-dimensional analogue GLfin(X) is infinite. Moreover, for any Banach space X of cotype 2 its finite-dimensional constant GLfin(X) is finite too.

Recently, the functionals different types of unbounded convergences (uo, un, uaw, uaw*) in Banach lattices were studied. In this paper, we study the continuous operators with respect to unbounded convergences. We first investigate the approximation property of continuous operators for unbounded convergence. Then we show some characterizations of the continuity of the continuous operators for uo, un, uaw and uaw*-convergence. Based on these results, we discuss the order-weakly compact operators on Banach lattices. Some related results are obtained as well.
Given a Banach space valued $q$-concave linear operator $T$ defined on a $σ$-order continuous quasi-Banach function space, we provide a description of the optimal domain of $T$ preserving $q$-concavity, that is, the largest $σ$-order continuous quasi-Banach function space to which $T$ can be extended as a $q$-concave operator. We show in this way the existence of maximal extensions for $q$-concave operators. We study the smoothness and the norm attainment of bounded bilinear operators between Banach spaces, using the concepts of Birkhoff-James orthogonality and semi-inner-products. In the finite-dimensional case, we characterize Birkhoff-James orthogonality of bilinear operators in terms of the norm attainment set. This yields a nice characterization of smoothness of bilinear operators between Banach spaces, in the finite-dimensional case. We show that every dominated linear operator from an Banach-Kantorovich space over atomless Dedekind complete vector lattice to a sequence Banach lattice $l_p(Γ)$ or $c_0(Γ)$ is narrow. As a conse- quence, we obtain that an atomless Banach lattice cannot have a finite dimensional decomposition of a certain kind. Finally we show that if a linear dominated operator T from lattice-normed space V to Banach- Kantorovich space W is order narrow then the same is its exact dominant $\ls T\rs$.
We characterize the metric spaces whose free space has the bounded approximation property through a Lipschitz analogue of the local reflexivity principle. We show that there exist compact metric spaces whose free spaces fail the approximation property.
We present an overview to the approximation property, paying especial attention to the recent results relating the approximation property to ideals of linear operators and Lipschitz ideals. We complete the paper with some new results on approximation of Lipschitz mappings and their relation to linear operator ideals.
We analyze the ergodic properties of power-bounded operators on a reflexive Banach space of the form "scalar plus compact-power", and show that they are almost periodic (all the orbits are conditionally compact). If such an operator is weakly mixing, then it is stable (its powers converge in the strong operator topology).Let X-ISP be the separable reflexive indecomposable Banach space constructed by Argyros and Motakis, in which every operator has an invariant subspace. We conclude that every power-bounded operator on a closed subspace of X-ISP is almost periodic.
Let $X$ be a Banach space with $\dim X>1$ such that $X^{\ast}$, its dual, is separable and $\mathcal{B}(X)$ the algebra of bounded linear operators on $X$. In this paper, we study the passage of property of being supercyclic from an operator $T\in\mathcal{B}(X)$ to the left and right multiplication induced by $T$ on separable admissible Banach ideal of $\mathcal{B}(X)$. We give a sufficient condition for the tensor product $T\widehat{\otimes}R$ of two operators to be supercyclic. As a consequence, we give another equivalent conditions for the Supercyclicity Criterion.
We introduce and study a new class of operators that we call disjoint weak Banach-Saks operators. We establish some characterizations of this class of operators by different types of convergence (norm convergence, unbounded order convergence, unbounded norm convergence and unbounded absolute weak convergence) as well as by the positive weakly null sequences. Consequently, we give a new characterization of the disjoint weak Banach-Saks property by the positive disjoint weakly null sequences. Furthermore, we study the relationship between this class and other classes of operators.
The wark is a contribution to the functional calculus constructed by of the author and A. A. Atvinovskii of closed operators on Banach spaces. The calculus is based on Markov and related functions as symbols. Estimates of bounded perturbations of operator functions with respect to general operator ideal norms, operator Lipschitzness, moment inequality, Freshet operator differentiability, and Livshitz-Krein trace formulae have been considered.
In this paper, we introduce and study a new classes of operators, named AM-unbounded norm compact operators. We study the the basic properties of the new operator and we investigate the lattice-order and topology property of the operator space of AM-unbounded norm compact operator.
