We present holographic computations of the time-dependent chiral magnetic conductivity in the framework of gauge/gravity correspondence. Chiral magnetic effect is a phenomenon where an electromagnetic current parallel to an applied magnetic field is induced in the presence of a finite axial chemical potential. Motivated by a recent weak-coupling perturbative QCD calculation, our aim is to provide a couple of complementary computations for strongly coupled regime which might be relevant for strongly coupled RHIC plasma. We take two prototypical holographic set-ups for computing chiral magnetic conductivity; the first model is Einstein gravity with U(1)_L X U(1)_R Maxwell theory, and our second set-up is based on the Sakai-Sugimoto model in a deconfined and chiral symmetry restored phase. While the former takes into account full back-reaction while the latter not, the common feature is an important role played by the appropriate 5-dimensional Chern-Simons term corresponding to the 4-dimensional axial anomaly.
We analytically compute the out-of-equilibrium direct photon production rate and electric conductivity, in a strongly coupled and expanding Bjorken plasma, from holography. Our results are valid at late times where the expanding plasma asymptotes Bjorken hydrodynamics. The out-of-equilibrium rates are substantially harder and larger, early on in the Bjorken expansion phase.
The electric conductivity and direct photons emission rate are considered in the holographic theory with two types of anisotropy. The electric conductivity is derived in two different ways, and their equivalence for the twice anisotropic theory is shown. Numerical calculations of the electric conductivity were done for Einstein-dilaton-three-Maxwell holographic model [29]. The dependence of the conductivity on the temperature, the chemical potential, the external magnetic field, and the spatial anisotropy of the heavy-ions collision (HIC) is studied. The electric conductivity jumps near the fi…
We show how to obtain a vanishing DC conductivity in 3-dimensional strongly coupled QFT's using a massive 2-form field in the bulk that satisfies a special kind of boundary condition. The real and imaginary parts of the AC conductivity are evaluated in this holographic setup and we show that the DC conductivity identically vanishes even for an arbitrarily small (though nonzero) value of the 2-form mass in the bulk. We identify the bulk action of the massive 2-form with an effective theory describing a phase in which magnetic monopoles have condensed in the bulk. Our results indicate that a con…
We calculate the electric conductivity $σ$ in deconfined QCD matter using a holographic QCD model, i.e., the Sakai-Sugimoto Model with varying magnetic field $B$ and chiral anomaly strength. After confirming that our estimated $σ$ for $B=0$ is consistent with the lattice-QCD results, we study the case with $B\neq 0$ in which the coefficient $α$ in the Chern-Simons term controls the chiral anomaly strength. Our results imply that the transverse conductivity, $σ_\perp$, is suppressed to be $\lesssim 70\%$ at $B\sim 1\,\mathrm{GeV}^2$ as compared to the $B=0$ case when the temperature is fixed as…
We calculate anomaly induced conductivities from a holographic gauge theory model using Kubo formulas, making a clear conceptual distinction between thermodynamic state variables such as chemical potentials and external background fields. This allows us to pinpoint ambiguities in previous holographic calculations of the chiral magnetic conductivity. We also calculate the corresponding anomalous current three-point functions in special kinematic regimes. We compare the holographic results to weak coupling calculations using both dimensional regularization and cutoff regularization. In order to …
We show that in field theories with a holographic dual the retarded Green's function of a conserved current can be represented as a convergent sum over the quasinormal modes. We find that the zero-frequency conductivity is related to the sum over quasinormal modes and their high-frequency asymptotics via a sum rule. We derive the asymptotics of the quasinormal mode frequencies and their residues using the phase-integral (WKB) approach and provide analytic insight into the existing numerical observations concerning the asymptotic behavior of the spectral densities.
We explore the end point of the helical instability in finite density, finite magnetic field background discussed by Kharzeev and Yee [1]. The nonlinear solution is obtained and identified with the (magnetized) chiral density wave phase in literature. We find there are two branches of solutions, which match with the two unstable modes in [1]. At large chemical potential and magnetic field, the magnetized chiral density wave can be thermodynamically preferred over chirally symmetric phase and chiral symmetry breaking phase. Interestingly, we find an exotic state with vanishing chemical potentia…
We study the ground state of baryonic/axial matter at zero temperature chiral-symmetry broken phase under a large magnetic field, in the framework of holographic QCD by Sakai-Sugimoto. Our study is motivated by a recent proposal of chiral magnetic spiral phase that has been argued to be favored against previously studied phase of homogeneous distribution of axial/baryonic currents in terms of meson super-currents dictated by triangle anomalies in QCD. Our results provide an existence proof of chiral magnetic spiral in strong coupling regime via holography, at least for large axial chemical pot…
The main purpose of this paper is to holographically study the behavior of conductivity in 2+1 dimensional disordered systems. We analyze probe D-brane systems in AdS/CFT with random closed string and open string background fields. We give a prescription of calculating the DC conductivity holographically in disordered systems. In particular, we find an analytical formula of the conductivity in the presence of codimension one randomness. We also systematically study the AC conductivity in various probe brane setups without disorder and find analogues of Mott insulators.
We investigate the chiral electric separation effect, where an axial current is induced by an electric field in the presence of both vector and axial chemical potentials, in a strongly coupled plasma via the Sakai-Sugimoto model with an $U(1)_R\times U(1)_L$ symmetry. By introducing different chemical potentials in $U(1)_R$ and $U(1)_L$ sectors, we compute the axial direct current (DC) conductivity stemming from the chiral current and the normal DC conductivity. We find that the axial conductivity is approximately proportional to the product of the axial and vector chemical potentials for arbi…
The frequency dependent conductivity $σ(ω)$ of the strongly coupled Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP) is estimated using a bottom up holographic model that can adequately describe recent lattice data for QCD thermodynamics at zero chemical potential. Different choices for the coupling between the bulk gauge field and the other bulk fields that define the background (the metric and a scalar field) are used in order to fit the lattice data for the electric charge susceptibility $χ_2^Q/T^2$. The ratio $σ_{DC}/T$ is found to vary near the deconfinement transition in a way that is similar to recent lattice …
We study the optical conductivity of 1+1 dimensional systems using soft wall model in the bottom up approach of AdS/CFT (anti-de Sitter/conformal field theory) duality. We find the numerical results for optical conductivity and investigate the system using holographic model in the probe limit. The dependence of conductivity on chemical potential is also investigated. Further, we extend the soft wall model as a `no-wall' model by eliminating the dilaton background and study the response of the system in a simplified approach.
In this article we have analytically deduced the frequency dependent expression of conductivity and the band gap energy in $AdS_{4}$ Schwarzschild background for p-wave holographic superconductors considering Einstein-Yang-Mills theory. We also used the self consistent approach to obtain the expressions of conductivity for different frequency ranges at low temperature. We then compared the imaginary part of conductivity at low frequency region. The band gap energy obtained from these two methods seem to agree very well.
We obtain the pion decay constant and coefficients of fourth derivative terms in the chiral Lagrangian for massless quarks in the Witten-Sakai-Sugimoto model. We extract these quantities from the two-pion scattering amplitude, which we compute directly in the holographic dual through tree-level Witten diagrams. Identification of the low energy coefficients in the chiral action is subtle as their values will be shifted when the tower of massive vector bosons are integrated out. Indeed, by a direct comparison with the existing standard procedure of constructing the chiral action with radial mode…
In this paper, we have analytically computed the conductivity of holographic superconductors in the framework of Born-Infeld electrodynamics taking into account the backreaction of the matter fields on the bulk spacetime metric. The effect of the Born-Infeld electrodynamics is incorporated in the metric. The band gap energy is found to be corrected by the backreaction and Born-Infeld parameters. The conductivity expression is then compared with that obtained from a self consistent approach.
We provide a simple method for writing the Dirac-Born-Infeld (DBI) equations of a Dp-brane in an arbitrary static background whose metric depends only on the holographic radial coordinate z. Using this method we revisit the Karch-O'Bannon's procedure to calculate the DC conductivity in the presence of constant electric and magnetic fields for backgrounds where the boundary is four or three dimensional and satisfies homogeneity and isotropy. We find a frame-independent expression for the DC conductivity tensor. For particular backgrounds we recover previous results on holographic metals and str…
We consider the chiral condensate in the baryonic dense medium using the generalized Sakai-Sugimoto model. It is defined as the vacuum expectation value of open Wilson line that is proposed to be calculated by use of the area of world-sheet instanton. We evaluate it in confined as well as deconfined phase. In both phases, the chiral condensate has a minimum as a function of baryon density. In the deconfined phase, taking into account the chiral symmetry restoration, we classify the behavior of chiral condensate into three types. One can set the parameter of the theory such that the results, in…
In this paper we consider the holographic DC and Hall conductivity in Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton in Gauss-Bonnet gravity with momentum dissipation. We analytically derived the DC conductivity and Hall conductivity from the black horizon data, and found that the conductivities are independent on the Gauss-Bonnet coupling. We also used the entropy function formalism to get the conductivities in terms of the charge of the black hole, even without knowing the explicit black hole solutions.
We clarify the mechanism for negative differential conductivity in holographic conductors. Negative differential conductivity is a phenomenon in which the electric field decreses with the increase of the current. This phenomenon is widely observed in strongly correlated insulators, and it has been known that some models of AdS/CFT correspondence (holographic conductors) reproduces this behaviour. We study the mechanism for negative differential conductivity in holographic conductors by analyzing the lifetime of the bound states of the charge carriers. We find that when the system exhibits nega…
The consequences of the Schwinger effect for conductivity is computed for strong coupling systems using holography. The one loop diagram on the flavor brane introduces an $O({λ\over N_c})$ imaginary part in the effective action for a Maxwell flavor gauge field. This in turn introduces a real conductivity in an otherwise insulating phase of the boundary theory. Moreover in certain regions of parameter space the differential conductivity is negative. This is computed in the context of the Sakai-Sugimoto model.
The two loop contributions to the chiral vortical conductivity are considered. The Kubo formula together with the anomalous Ward identity of the axial vector current suggest that there may be a nonzero correction to the coefficient of the $T^2$ term of the conductivity.
We add a gravitational background lattice to the simplest holographic model of matter at finite density and calculate the optical conductivity. With the lattice, the zero frequency delta function found in previous calculations (resulting from translation invariance) is broadened and the DC conductivity is finite. The optical conductivity exhibits a Drude peak with a cross-over to power-law behavior at higher frequencies. Surprisingly, these results bear a strong resemblance to the properties of some of the cuprates.
In this paper we consider non-commutative Sakai-Sugimoto model by using D8-branes probing the background generated by D4-branes with an NSNS B-field turned on. We study response of the system to external electric field which could be parallel to orthogonal to the background B-field. We compute the conductivity as a function of temperature and non-commutativity parameters. Non-commutativity effect, depending on the relative orientation of external and background electromagnetic fields, may increase or decrease the conductivity.
The DC resistivity of charge density waves weakly-pinned by disorder is controlled by diffusive, incoherent processes rather than slow momentum relaxation. The corresponding incoherent conductivity can be computed in the limit of zero disorder. We compute this transport coefficient in holographic spatially modulated breaking translations spontaneously. As a by-product of our analysis, we clarify how the boundary heat current is obtained from a conserved bulk current, defined as a suitable generalization of the Iyer-Wald Noether current of the appropriate Killing vector.
Based on a holographic far-from-equilibrium calculation of the chiral magnetic effect~(CME) in an expanding quark gluon plasma, we study collisions at various energies. We compute the time evolution of the CME current in the presence of a time-dependent axial charge density and subject to a time-dependent magnetic field. The plasma expansion leads to a dilution of the CME current. We study distinct combinations of how the initial magnetic field and initial axial charge behave with changing initial energy as proposed in previous literature. Most scenarios we consider lead to an increasing time-…
We consider non-linear massive gravity with two Stückelberg fields in which the diffeomorphism invariance is broken spontaneously in two of the spacetime directions. This theory admits a charged anti-de Sitter black brane solution and has recently been used in holographic context as a bulk description of a boundary field theory with momentum dissipation. Here we study the stability of the black brane solution. We identify the physical degrees of freedom and determine the healthy regions of the parameter space of the theory. We find that there is a region in parameter space, where the theory su…
The frequency dependence of the AC conductivity is studied in a holographic model of a non-fermi liquid that is amenable to both analytical and numerical computation. In the regime that dissipation dominates the DC conductivity, the AC conductivity is described well in the IR by a Drude peak despite the absence of quasiparticles. In the regime where pair-production-like processes dominate the conductivity there is no Drude peak. A scaling tail is found for the AC conductivity that is independent of the charge density and momentum dissipation. Evidence is given that this scaling tail $σ_{AC}\si…
Using the recently found by G. Horowitz and M. Roberts (arXiv:0908.3677) numerical model of the ground state of holographic superconductors (at zero temperature), we calculate the conductivity for such models. The universal relation connecting conductivity with the reflection coefficient was used for finding the conductivity by the WKB approach. The dependence of the conductivity on the frequency and charge density is discussed. Numerical calculations confirm the general arguments of (arXiv:0908.3677) in favor of non-zero conductivity even at zero temperature. In addition to the Horowitz-Rober…
We study transport coefficients of strongly coupled gauge theory in the presence of multiple chemical potential which are dual to rotating D3, M2 and M5 brane. Using the general form of the perturbation equations, we compute DC-electrical conductivity at finite temperature as well as at zero temperature. We also study thermal conductivity for the same class of black holes and show that thermal conductivity and viscosity obeys Wiedemann-Franz like law even in the presence of multiple chemical potential.
We consider the model of holographic QCD with asymptotic freedom and gluon condensation in its vacuum. It consists of the color D4-branes and D0-branes as a background and the flavor D8-branes as a probe. By taking a specific field theory limit, the effective coupling decreases to vanish in UV region. We then introduce the uniformly distributed baryons in terms of the baryon vertices and study the density dependence of chiral condensate, which is evaluated using the worldsheet instanton method. In the confined phase, the chiral condensate as a function of density monotonically decreases in hig…
The D3/D7 system holographically describes an N=2 gauge theory which spontaneously breaks a chiral symmetry by the formation of a quark condensate in the presence of a magnetic field. At finite temperature it displays a first order phase transition. We study out of equilibrium dynamics associated with this transition by placing probe D7 branes in a geometry describing a boost-invariant expanding or contracting plasma. We use an adiabatic approximation to track the evolution of the quark condensate in a heated system and reproduce the phase structure expected from equilibrium dynamics. We then …
We study the AC electrical conductivity at zero temperature in a holographic model for a Weyl semimetal. At small frequencies we observe a linear dependence in the frequency. The model shows a quantum phase transition between a topological semimetal (Weyl semimetal phase) with a non vanishing anomalous Hall conductivity and a trivial semimetal. The AC conductivity has an intermediate scaling due to the presence of a quantum critical region in the phase diagram of the system. The phase diagram is reconstructed using the scaling properties of the conductivity. We compare with the experimental da…
We investigate the holographic DC and Hall conductivity in massive Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton (EMD) gravity. Two special EMD backgrounds are considered explicitly. One is dyonic Reissner-Nordstr$\ddot{o}$m-AdS (RN-AdS) geometry and the other one is hyperscaling violation AdS (HV-AdS) geometry. We find that the linear-T resistivity and quadratic-T inverse Hall angle can be simultaneously achieved in HV-AdS models, providing a hint to construct holographic models confronting with the experimental data of strange metal in future.
We consider general black hole solutions of Einstein-Maxwell-scalar theory that are holographically dual to conformal field theories at finite charge density with non-vanishing magnetic fields and local magnetisation currents, which generically break translation invariance explicitly. We show that the thermoelectric DC conductivity of the field theory can be obtained by solving a system of generalised Stokes equations on the black hole horizon. For various examples, including Q-lattices and one-dimensional lattices, we solve the Stokes equations explicitly and obtain expressions for the DC con…
We analyze the charge diffusion and conductivity in a Dp/Dq holographic setup that is dual to a supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory in p+1 dimensions with N_f<< N_c flavour degrees of freedom at finite temperature and nonvanishing U(1) baryon number chemical potential. We provide a new derivation of the results that generalize the membrane paradigm to the present context. We perform a numerical analysis in the particular case of the D3/D7 flavor system. The results obtained support the validity of the Einstein relation at finite chemical potential.
We study dispersion relations of hydrodynamic waves of hot N=4 SYM plasma at strong coupling with a finite U(1) R-charge chemical potential via holography. We first provide complete equations of motion of linearized fluctuations out of a charged AdS black-hole background according to their helicity, and observe that helicity +1 and -1 transverse shear modes receive a new parity-odd contribution from the 5D Chern-Simons term, which is dual to 4D U(1)^3 anomaly. We present a systematic solution of the helicity +1,-1 wave equations in long wave-length expansion, and obtain the corresponding dispe…
We consider a neutral and static black brane background with a probe power-law Maxwell field. Via the membrane paradigm, an expression for the holographic DC conductivity of the dual conserved current is obtained. We also discuss the dependence of the DC conductivity on the temperature, charge density and spatial components of the external field strength in the boundary theory. Our results show that there might be more than one phase in the boundary theory. Phase transitions could occur where the DC conductivity or its derivatives are not continuous. Specifically, we find that one phase posses…
In a hard-wall model of holographic QCD, we find that nonlinear boundary dynamics are required in order to maintain the correct pattern of explicit and spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking beyond leading order in the pion fields. With the help of a field redefinition, we relate the requisite nonlinear boundary conditions to a standard Sturm-Liouville system. Observables insensitive to the chiral limit receive only small corrections in the improved description, and classical calculations in the hard-wall model remain surprisingly accurate.
The anomalous spin Hall conductivity in the holographic model of Dirac semimetals with two Dirac nodes protected by the crystal symmetry has been elaborated. Such system besides the chiral anomaly possesses another anomaly which is related to the $\mathbb{Z}_2$ topological charge of the system. The holographic model of the system contains matter action with two $U(1)$-gauge fields as well as the appropriate combination of the Chern-Simons gauge terms. We also allow for the coupling of two gauge fields {\it via} the kinetic mixing parametrised by the coupling $α$. The holographic approach in th…
Within holography the DC conductivity can be obtained by solving a system of Stokes equations for an auxiliary fluid living on the black hole horizon. We show that these equations can be derived from a novel variational principle involving a functional that depends on the fluid variables of interest as well as the time reversed quantities. This leads to simple derivation of the Onsager relations for the conductivity. We also obtain the relevant Stokes equations for bulk theories of gravity in four dimensions including a $\vartheta F\wedge F$ term in the Lagrangian, where $\vartheta$ is a funct…
We study the relationship between chiral symmetry breaking and baryons in holographic QCD. We construct a soliton with unit baryon charge in the presence of a nonzero mean value of the scalar bifundamental field, which is dual to the chiral condensate. We obtain a relation between the chiral condensate and the mass of the baryon and find in a clear-cut way that at large values of the condensate the holographic soliton is no longer located on the IR wall. Instead it is split into two halves, which are symmetrically located on the left and right flavor branes. On the other hand we find that the …
We generalize current holographic models with homogeneous breaking of translation symmetry by incorporating higher derivative couplings, in the spirit of effective field theories. Focusing on charge transport, we specialize to two simple couplings between the charge and translation symmetry breaking sectors. We obtain analytical charged black brane solutions and compute their DC conductivity in terms of horizon data. We constrain the allowed values of the couplings and note that the DC conductivity can vanish at zero temperature for strong translation symmetry breaking, thus showing that in ge…
We analyze a holographic model with a pure gauge and a mixed gauge-gravitational Chern-Simons term in the action. These are the holographic implementations of the usual chiral and the mixed gauge-gravitational anomalies in four dimensional field theories with chiral fermions. We discuss the holographic renormalization and show that the gauge-gravitational Chern-Simons term does not induce new divergences. In order to cancel contributions from the extrinsic curvature at a boundary at finite distance a new type of counterterm has to be added however. This counterterm can also serve to make the D…
We investigate the effect of a magnetic field on the vacuum of low-temperature QCD at large-N_c in the presence of a chiral chemical potential, using the holographic Sakai-Sugimoto model. Above some critical chemical potential we find an instability, which triggers a decay of the homogeneous vacuum to a non-homogeneous configuration with a spiral form, which we construct explicitly. We find that this decay is suppressed for sufficiently large magnetic field, and determine the critical strength. We find that the new vacuum does not exhibit the chiral magnetic effect. This is related to the way …
We analytically as well as numerically disclose the effects of the higher order correction terms in the gravity and in the gauge field on the properties of $s$-wave holographic superconductors. On the gravity side, we consider the higher curvature Gauss-Bonnet corrections and on the gauge field side, we add a quadratic correction term to the Maxwell Lagrangian. We show that for this system, one can still obtain an analytical relation between the critical temperature and the charge density. We also calculate the critical exponent and the condensation value both analytically and numerically. We …
The Hall and longitudinal conductivities of a recently studied holographic model of a quantum Hall ferromagnet are computed using the Karch-O'Bannon technique. In addition, the low temperature entropy of the model is determined. The holographic model has a phase transition as the Landau level filling fraction is increased from zero to one. We argue that this phase transition allows the longitudinal conductivity to have features qualitatively similar to those of two dimensional electron gases in the integer quantum Hall regime. The argument also applies to the low temperature limit of the entro…
We disclose the effects of the logarithmic nonlinear electrodynamics on the holographic conductivity of Lifshitz dilaton black holes/branes. We analyze thermodynamics of these solutions as a necessary requirement for applying gauge/gravity duality, by calculating conserved and thermodynamic quantities such as the temperature, entropy, electric potential and mass of the black holes/branes. We calculate the holographic conductivity for a $(2+1)$-dimensional brane boundary and study its behavior in terms of the frequency per temperature. Interestingly enough, we find out that, in contrast to the …
A self-consistent holographic QCD model is proposed which can realize both chiral symmetry breaking and confinement, two most important phenomena of QCD. It is pointed out that the model can accommodate both Regge spectra of hadrons and the linear potential between quarks. The model is formulated in the framework of graviton-dilaton-scalar system, where the dilaton field is dual to the dimension-2 gluon condensate and can lead to the linear confinement, while the scalar field corresponds to the quark anti-quark condensate and can explain the property of chiral dynamics.
Gluon field configurations with nonzero topological charge generate chirality, inducing P- and CP-odd effects. When a magnetic field is applied to a system with nonzero chirality, an electromagnetic current is generated along the direction of the magnetic field. The induced current is equal to the Chiral Magnetic conductivity times the magnetic field. In this article we will compute the Chiral Magnetic conductivity of a high-temperature plasma for nonzero frequencies. This allows us to discuss the effects of time-dependent magnetic fields, such as produced in heavy ion collisions, on chirally …
We construct a holographic effective superconducting theory by considering a special gauge-axion higher derivative term. The gauge-axion coupling results in the transport behavior similar to the vortex response in the dual boundary field theory leading to non-Drude behavior of alternating current (AC) conductivity at the weak momentum dissipation. With the momentum dissipation increasing, a dip exhibits in the AC conductivity at low frequency. It is thought to be the result of a combination of the strong momentum dissipation and the gauge-axion coupling. In the superconducting phase, this gaug…
We investigate the dependence of the conductivity and the entanglement entropy on the space-time dimensionality $d$ in two holographic superconductors: one dual to a quantum critical point with spontaneous symmetry breaking, and the other modeled by a charged scalar that condenses at a sufficiently low temperature in the presence of a Maxwell field. In both cases the gravity background is asymptotically Anti de Sitter (AdS). In the large $d$ limit we obtain explicit analytical results for the conductivity at zero temperature and the entanglement entropy by a $1/d$ expansion. We show that the e…
For conformal field theories which admit a dual gravitational description in anti-de Sitter space, electrical transport properties, such as conductivity and charge diffusion, are determined by the dynamics of a U(1) gauge field in the bulk and thus obey universality relations at the classical level due to the uniqueness of the Maxwell action. We analyze corrections to these transport parameters due to higher-dimension operators in the bulk action, beyond the leading Maxwell term, of which the most significant involves a coupling to the bulk Weyl tensor. We show that the ensuing corrections to …
We present a simple analytic gravitational solution which describes the holographic dual of a 2+1-dimensional conductor which goes beyond the usual linear response. In particular it includes Joule heating. We find that the nonlinear frequency-dependent conductivity is a constant. Surprisingly, the pressure remains isotropic. We also apply an electric field to a holographic insulator and show that there is a maximum electric field below which it can remain an insulator. Above this critical value, we argue that it becomes a conductor due to pair creation of charged particles. Finally, we study 1…
The soft wall model in holographic QCD has Regge trajectories but wrong operator product expansion (OPE) for the two-point vectorial QCD Green function. We modify the dilaton potential to comply OPE. We study also the axial two-point function using the same modified dilaton field and an additional scalar field to address chiral symmetry breaking. OPE is recovered adding a boundary term and low energy chiral parameters, $F_π$ and $L_{10}$, are well described analytically by the model in terms of Regge spacing and QCD condensates. The model nicely supports and extends previous theoretical analys…
We compute the longitudinal and Hall conductivities in the parallel phase of the Sakai-Sugimoto model with a transverse magnetic field. We find that the conductivities behave as if the charge of the system is made out of two different types; one behaves as charge carriers flowing through a dissipative neutral medium, while the other does not feel the dissipation. We also investigate the case of an electric field parallel to the magnetic field and find that in this case the system behaves as a perfect conductor. Both of the unusual behaviors stem from the axial anomaly.
We develop a method for integrating out the heavy Kaluza-Klein modes of scalar type as well as those of vector and axial-vector types, in a class of hard-wall bottom-up approaches of holographic QCD models, including the Dirac-Born-Infeld and Chern-Simons parts. By keeping only the lowest-lying vector mesons, we first obtain an effective chiral Lagrangian of the vector mesons based on the hidden local symmetry, and all the low-energy constants in the HLS Lagrangian are expressed in terms of holographic integrals and, consequently, are fully determined by the holographic geometry and a few cons…
We consider holographic superconductors related to the Schwarzschild black hole in the low energy limit of Hořava-Lifshitz spacetime. The non-relativistic electromagnetic and scalar fields are introduced to construct a holographic superconductor model in Hořava-Lifshitz gravity and the results show that the $α_2$ term plays an important role, modifying the conductivity curve line by means of an attenuation the conductivity.
The dynamics of a two-dimensional superconductor under a constant electric field $E$ is studied by using the gauge/gravity correspondence. The pair breaking current induced by $E$ first increases to a peak value and then decreases to a constant value at late time, where the superconducting gap goes to zero, corresponding to a normal conducting phase. The peak value of the current is found to increase linearly with respect to the electric field. Moreover, the nonlinear conductivity, defined as an average of the conductivity in the superconducting phase, scales as $\sim E^{-2/3}$ for large $E$ w…
