We present a random-matrix analysis of the entangling power of a unitary operator as a function of the number of times it is iterated. We consider unitaries belonging to the circular ensembles of random matrices (CUE or COE) applied to random (real or complex) non-entangled states. We verify numerically that the average entangling power is a monotonic decreasing function of time. The same behavior is observed for the "operator entanglement" --an alternative measure of the entangling strength of a unitary. On the analytical side we calculate the CUE operator entanglement and asymptotic values for the entangling power. We also provide a theoretical explanation of the time dependence in the CUE cases.
We consider two qubits prepared in a product state and evolved under the magnetic dipolar interaction (MDI). We describe the dependence of the entanglement generated by the MDI with time, with the interaction parameters, and with the system's initial state, identifying the symmetry and coherence aspects of those initial configurations that yield the maximal entanglement. We also show how one can obtain maximum entanglement from the MDI applied to some families of partially entangled initial states.
Direct Production of Tripartite Pump-Signal-Idler Entanglement in the Above-Threshold Optical Parametric Oscillator
本文计算了工作在阈值以上的三重共振非简并光学参量振荡器的三个输出场(泵浦场、信号场和闲频场)之间的量子关联。通过应用标准准则[P. van Loock和A. Furusawa,Phys.
We investigate entanglement growth for a pair of coupled kicked rotors. For weak coupling, the growth of the entanglement entropy is found to be initially linear followed by a logarithmic growth. We calculate analytically the time after which the entanglement entropy changes its profile, and a good agreement with the numerical result is found. We further show that the different regimes of entanglement growth are associated with different rates of energy growth displayed by a rotor. At a large time, energy grows diffusively, which is preceded by an intermediate dynamical localization. The time-…
Evolutional entanglement production is defined as the amount of entanglement produced by the evolution operator. This quantity is analyzed for systems whose Hamiltonians are characterized by spin operators. The evolutional entanglement production at the initial stage grows quadratically in time. For longer times, it oscillates, being quasiperiodic or periodic depending on the system parameters.
We focus on characterizing entanglement of high dimensional bipartite states using various statistical correlators for two-qudit mixed states. The salient results obtained are as follows: (a) A scheme for determining the entanglement measure given by Negativity is explored by analytically relating it to the widely used statistical correlators viz. mutual predictability, mutual information and Pearson Correlation coefficient for different types of bipartite arbitrary dimensional mixed states. Importantly, this is demonstrated using only a pair of complementary observables pertaining to the mutu…
The authors of the recent paper [1] boldly claim to discover a new fully quantum approach to foundation of statistical mechanics: "Our conceptually novel approach is free of mathematically ambiguous notions such as probability, ensemble, randomness, etc." The aim of this note is to show that this approach is neither specific for quantum systems nor really conceptually different from the standard textbook arguments supporting microcanonical or canonical ensembles in statistical mechanics.
The review is devoted to two important quantities characterizing many-body systems, order indices and the measure of entanglement production. Order indices describe the type of order distinguishing statistical systems. Contrary to the order parameters characterizing systems in the thermodynamic limit and describing long-range order, the order indices are applicable to finite systems and classify all types of orders, including long-range, mid-range, and short-range orders. The measure of entanglement production quantifies the amount of entanglement produced in a many-partite system by a quantum…
Entanglement production, generated by an evolution operator, is considered. The measure of entanglement production, introduced earlier by one of the authors, is employed. As an illustration, a two-qubit register is studied and the corresponding measure of evolutional entanglement production is calculated. Such two-qubit registers can be realized by atomic systems in a double well or by trapped atoms with two coherent modes.
Quantum entanglement is the characteristic quantum correlation. Here we use this concept to analyze the quantum entanglement generated by Schwinger production of particle-antiparticle pairs in an electric field, as well as the change of mode entanglement as a consequence of the electric field effect on an entangled pair of particles. The system is partitioned by using momentum modes. Various kinds of pairwise mode entanglement are calculated as functions of the electric field. Both constant and pulsed electric fields are considered. The use of entanglement exposes information beyond that in pa…
We propose a simple and efficient method for generating metrologically useful quantum entanglement in an ensemble of spin-1 atoms that interacts with a high-finesse optical cavity mode. It requires straightforward preparation of $N$ atoms in the $m_F=0$ sublevel, tailoring of the atom-field interaction to give an effective Tavis-Cummings model for the collective spin-1 ensemble, and a photon counting measurement on the cavity output field. The photon number provides a projective measurement of the collective spin length $S$, which, for the chosen initial state, is heavily weighted around value…
We find out a few ways to improve the realization of entanglement between the internal (spin) and external (position) degrees of freedom of a quantum particle, through the insertion of disordered time steps along a one-dimensional discrete time quantum walk. The disorder is introduced by a randomly chosen quantum coin obtained from a uniform distribution among infinite quantum coins or only between Hadamard and Fourier coins for all the time steps. We can also decrease the amount of disorder by alternating disordered and ordered time steps along a quantum walk or by establishing a probability …
We study the entanglement production in a quantum spin Hall ring geometry where electrons of opposite spins are emitted in pairs from a source and collected in two different detectors. Postselection of coincidence detector events gives rise to entanglement in the system, measurable through correlations between the outcomes in the detectors. We have chosen a geometry such that the entanglement depends on the dynamical phases picked up by the edge states as they move around the ring. In turn, the dependence of the phases on gate potential and Rashba interaction allows for a precise electrical co…

In the problem of entanglement there exist two different notions. One is the entanglement of a quantum state, characterizing the state structure. The other is entanglement production by quantum operators, describing the action of operators in the given Hilbert space. Entanglement production by statistical operators, or density operators, is an important notion arising in quantum measurements and quantum information processing. The operational meaning of the entangling power of any operator, including statistical operators, is the property of the operators to entangle wave functions of the Hilb…
We examine the dynamics of entanglement entropy of all parts in an open system consisting of a two-level dimer interacting with an environment of oscillators. The dimer-environment interaction is almost energy conserving. We find the precise link between decoherence and production of entanglement entropy. We show that not all environment oscillators carry significant entanglement entropy and we identify the oscillator frequency regions which contribute to the production of entanglement entropy. Our results hold for arbitrary strengths of the dimer-environment interaction, and they are mathemat…
We perform a systematic investigation of variational forms (wave function Ansätze), to determine the ground state energies and properties of two-dimensional model fermionic systems on triangular lattices (with and without periodic boundary conditions), using the Variational Quantum Eigensolver (VQE) algorithm. In particular, we focus on the nature of the entangler blocks which provide the most efficient convergence to the system ground state inasmuch as they use the minimal number of gate operations, which is key for the implementation of this algorithm in NISQ computers. Using the concurrence…
We develop a general theoretical framework for measurement protocols employing statistical correlations of randomized measurements. We focus on locally randomized measurements implemented with local random unitaries in quantum lattice models. In particular, we discuss the theoretical details underlying the recent measurement of the second Rényi entropy of highly mixed quantum states consisting of up to $10$ qubits in a trapped-ion quantum simulator [Brydges et al., Science 364, 260 (2019)]. We generalize the protocol to access the overlap of quantum states, prepared sequentially in an experime…

Non-classical features like interference is already being harnessed to control the output of chemical reactions. However quantum entanglement which is an equally enigmatic many-body quantum correlation can also be used as a powerful resource yet have eluded explicit attention. In this report, we propose an experimental scheme under the crossed beam molecular dynamical setup, with the F+HD reaction, aiming to study the possible influence of entanglement within reactant pairs on the angular features of the product distribution. The aforesaid reaction has garnered interest recently as an unusual …
We study the time evolution of the entanglement entropy in bosonic systems with time-independent, or time-periodic, Hamiltonians. In the first part, we focus on quadratic Hamiltonians and Gaussian initial states. We show that all quadratic Hamiltonians can be decomposed into three parts: (a) unstable, (b) stable, and (c) metastable. If present, each part contributes in a characteristic way to the time-dependence of the entanglement entropy: (a) linear production, (b) bounded oscillations, and (c) logarithmic production. In the second part, we use numerical calculations to go beyond Gaussian st…
