We analyze the effect of a quantum error correcting code on the entanglement of encoded logical qubits in the presence of a dephasing interaction with a correlated environment. Such correlated reservoir introduces entanglement between physical qubits. We show that for short times the quantum error correction interprets such entanglement as errors and suppresses it. However for longer time, although quantum error correction is no longer able to correct errors, it enhances the rate of entanglement production due to the interaction with the environment.
We generalize the Schmidt-correlated states to multipartite systems. The related equivalence under SLOCC, the separability, entanglement witness, entanglement measures of negativity, concurrence and relative entropy are investigated in detail for the generalized Schmidt-correlated states.
We study the generation of maximally correlated states of two qubits in the absence of quantum entanglement. We show that stationary maximally correlated states can be generated under the assistance of a collective dissipative dynamics. The absence of entanglement necessarily requires maximal entanglement to an environment. The conditions under which two qubits can be maximally correlated to a finite environment are studied. We find the existence of maximally correlated states without entanglement for $3 \otimes 3$ bipartite quantum states
Motivated by the results of C. Macchiavello and G. M. Palma on entanglement-enhanced information transmission over a quantum channel with correlated noise, we demonstrate how the entanglement teleportation scheme of J. Lee and M. S. Kim gives rise to two uncorrelated generalized depolarizing channels. In an attempt to find a teleportation scheme which yields two correlated generalized depolarizing channels, we discover a novel teleportation scheme, which allows one to learn about the entanglement in an entangled pure input state, but without decreasing the amount of entanglement associated wit…
We study entanglement dynamics in the presence of correlated environmental noises. Specifically, we investigate the quantum entanglement dynamics of two spins in the presence of correlated classical white noises, deriving Markov master equation and obtaining explicit solutions for several interesting classes of initial states including Bell states and X form density matrices. We show how entanglement can be enhanced or reduced by the correlation between the two participating noises.
We propose a novel scheme to generate polarization entanglement from spatially-correlated photon pairs. We experimentally realized a scheme by means of a spatial correlation effect in a spontaneous parametric down-conversion and a modified Michelson interferometer. The scheme we propose in this paper can be interpreted as a conversion process from spatial correlation to polarization entanglement.
We calculate the information capacities of a time-correlated amplitude-damping channel, provided the sender and receiver share prior entanglement. Our analytical results show that the noisy channel with zero capacity can transmit information if it has finite memory. The capacities increase as the memory increases attaining maximum value for perfect memory channel.
Entanglement and entanglement-assisted are useful resources to enhance the mutual information of the Pauli channels, when the noise on consecutive uses of the channel has some partial correlations. In this paper, We study quantum communication channels with correlated noise and derive a general expression for the mutual information of quantum channel, for the product, maximally entangled state coding and entanglement-assisted systems with correlated noise in the Pauli quantum channels. Hence, we suggest more efficient coding in the entanglement-assisted systems for the transmission of classica…
We show that a mixed state $ρ=\sum_{mn}a_{mn}|m> < n|$ can be realized by an ensemble of pure states $\{p_{k}, |ϕ_{k} > \}$ where $|ϕ_{k}>=\sum_{m}\sqrt{a_{mm}}e^{iθ_{m}^{k}}|m>$. Employing this form, we discuss the relative entropy of entanglement of Schmidt correlated states. Also, we calculate the distillable entanglement of a class of mixed states.
Based on the quantum technique of weak measurement, we propose a scheme to protect the entanglement from correlated amplitude damping decoherence. In contrast to the results of memoryless amplitude damping channel, we show that the memory effects play a significant role in the suppression of entanglement sudden death and protection of entanglement under severe decoherence. Moreover, we find that the initial entanglement could be drastically amplified by the combination of weak measurement and quantum measurement reversal even under the correlated amplitude damping channel. The underlying mecha…
We consider an extended Bose-Hubbard model that includes pair-correlated tunneling. We demonstrate that a minimal four-mode implementation of this model exhibits a pair-correlated regime in addition to Mott insulator and superfluid regimes. We propose a low complexity variational subspace for the ground state of the system in the pair-correlated regime, which we find to be numerically exact in pure pair-tunneling limit. Additionally, we propose a parameter-free high fidelity model wave function that qualitatively captures the features of the ground state in the pair-correlated regime. Although…
We show that entanglement is a useful resource to enhance the mutual information of the depolarizing channel when the noise on consecutive uses of the channel has some partial correlations. We obtain a threshold in the degree of memory, depending on the shrinking factor of the channel, above which a higher amount of classical information is transmitted with entangled signals.
Considering a spin-1/2 chain, we {suppose} that the entanglement passes from a given pair of particles to another one, thus establishing the relay transfer of entanglement along the chain. Therefore, we introduce the relay entanglement as a sum of all pairwise entanglements in a spin chain. For more detailed studying the effects of {remote} pairwise entanglements, we use the partial sums collecting entanglements between the spins separated by up to a certain number of nodes. The problem of entangled cluster formation is considered, and the geometric mean entanglement is introduced as a {charac…
We show that the symmetric portion of correlated coherence is always a valid quantifier of entanglement, and that this property is independent of the particular choice of coherence measure. This leads to an infinitely large class of coherence based entanglement monotones, which is always computable for pure states if the coherence measure is also computable. It is already known that every entanglement measure can be constructed as a coherence measure. The results presented here show that the converse is also true. The constructions that are presented can also be extended to also include more g…
It is well established that an entanglement encoded in the Bell states of a two-qubit system with correlated spins exhibits completely different evolution properties than that encoded in states with the anti-correlated spins. A complete and abrupt loss of the entanglement, called the entanglement sudden death, can be found to occur for the spin correlated states, but the entanglement evolves without any discontinuity or decays asymptotically for the spin anti-correlated states. We consider the evolution of an initial entanglement encoded in the spin anti-correlated states and demonstrate that …
We consider translationally invariant states of an infinite one dimensional chain of qubits or spin-1/2 particles. We maximize the entanglement shared by nearest neighbours via a variational approach based on finitely correlated states. We find an upper bound of nearest neighbour concurrence equal to C=0.434095 which is 0.09% away from the bound C_W=0.434467 obtained by a completely different procedure. The obtained state maximizing nearest neighbour entanglement seems to approximate the maximally entangled mixed states (MEMS). Further we investigate in detail several other properties of the s…
The motion of two distant trapped particles or mechanical oscillators can be strongly coupled by light modes in a high finesse optical resonator. In a two mode ring cavity geometry, trapping, cooling and coupling is implemented by the same modes. While the cosine mode provides for trapping, the sine mode facilitates ground state cooling and mediates non-local interactions. For classical point particles the centre-of-mass mode is strongly damped and the individual momenta get anti-correlated. Surprisingly, quantum fluctuations induce the opposite effect of positively-correlated particle motion,…
We develop a model for a noisy communication channel in which the noise affecting consecutive transmissions is correlated. This model is motivated by fluctuating birefringence of fiber optic links. We analyze the role of entanglement of the input states in optimizing the classical capacity of such a channel. Assuming a general form of an ensemble for two consecutive transmissions, we derive tight bounds on the classical channel capacity depending on whether the input states used for communication are separable or entangled across different temporal slots. This result demonstrates that by an ap…
Effect of decoherence and correlated noise on the entanglement of X-type state of the Dirac fields in the non-inertial frame is investigated. A two qubit X-state is considered to be shared between the partners where Alice is in inertial frame and Rob in an accelerated frame. The concurrence is used to quantify the entanglement of the X-state system influenced by time correlated amplitude damping, depolarizing and bit flip channels. It is seen that amplitude damping and bit flip channels heavily influence the entanglement of the system as compared to the depolarizing channel. It is found possib…
We propose a feasible scheme of quantum state storage and manipulation via electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) in flexibly $united$ multi-ensembles of three-level atoms. For different atomic array configurations, one can properly steer the signal and the control lights to generate different forms of atomic entanglement within the framework of linear optics. These results shed new light on designing the versatile quantum memory devices by using, e.g., an atomic grid.
We study the capacity of d-dimensional quantum channels with memory modeled by correlated noise. We show that, in agreement with previous results on Pauli qubit channels, there are situations where maximally entangled input states achieve higher values of mutual information than product states. Moreover, a strong dependence of this effect on the nature of the noise correlations as well as on the parity of the space dimension is found. We conjecture that when entanglement gives an advantage in terms of mutual information, maximally entangled states saturate the channel capacity.
The entanglement-sharing properties of an infinite spin-chain are studied when the state of the chain is a pure, translation-invariant state with a matrix-product structure. We study the entanglement properties of such states by means of their finitely correlated structure. These states are recursively constructed by means of an auxiliary density matrix ρon a matrix algebra B and a completely positive map E: A \otimes B -> B, where A is the spin 2\times 2 matrix algebra. General structural results for the infinite chain are therefore obtained by explicit calculations in (finite) matrix algebra…
We present a protocol for performing entanglement swapping with intense pulsed beams. In a first step, the generation of amplitude correlations between two systems that have never interacted directly is demonstrated. This is verified in direct detection with electronic modulation of the detected photocurrents. The measured correlations are better than expected from a classical reconstruction scheme. In the entanglement swapping process, a four--partite entangled state is generated. We prove experimentally that the amplitudes of the four optical modes are quantum correlated 3 dB below shot nois…
We describe a general technique that allows for an ideal transfer of quantum correlations between light fields and metastable states of matter. The technique is based on trapping quantum states of photons in coherently driven atomic media, in which the group velocity is adiabatically reduced to zero. We discuss possible applications such as quantum state memories, generation of squeezed atomic states, preparation of entangled atomic ensembles and quantum information processing.
The three-photon Compton effect is studied. An incoming photon undergoes triple scattering off a free electron, which leads to the emission of three entangled photons. We investigate the properties of both the total cross section, assuming a low-energy cutoff for the detected photons, and the differential cross section. Particular emphasis is laid on evaluating polarization-resolved cross sections. The entanglement of the final three-photon state is analyzed.
We report on a new technique for entanglement distillation of the bipartite continuous variable state of spatially correlated photons generated in the spontaneous parametric down-conversion process (SPDC), where tunable non-Gaussian operations are implemented and the post-processed entanglement is certified in real-time using a single-photon sensitive electron multiplying CCD (EMCCD) camera. The local operations are performed using non-Gaussian filters modulated into a programmable spatial light modulator and, by using the EMCCD camera for actively recording the probability distributions of th…
Entanglement behavior for different classes of two qubit systems passing through a generalized amplitude damping channel is discussed. The phenomena of sudden single, double changes and the sudden death of entanglement are reported for correlated and non- correlated noise. It is shown that, for less entangled states, these phenomena appear for small values of channel strength. The effect of the channel can be frozen for these classes as one increases the channel strength. Maximum entangled states are more fragile than partial entangled states, where the entanglement decays very fast. However, …
We show that the Hilbert space of even number ($\geq4$) of qubits can always be decomposed as a direct sum of four orthogonal subspaces such that the normalized projectors onto the subspaces are activable bound entangled (ABE) states. These states also show a surprising recursive relation in the sense that the states belonging to $2N+2$ qubits are Bell correlated to the states of $2N$ qubits; hence, we refer to these states as Bell-Correlated ABE (BCABE) states. We also study the properties of noisy BCABE states and show that they are very similar to that of two qubit Bell-diagonal states.
A detailed study of the effects of phase fluctuation and dephasing on the dynamics of the entanglement generated from a coherently pumped correlated emission laser is presented. It is found that the time evolution of the entanglement is significantly reliant on the phase fluctuation and dephasing, particularly, at early stages of the lasing process. In the absence of external driving radiation, the degree of entanglement and intensity turns out to attain a maximum value just before starting to exhibit oscillation which dies at longer time scale. However, in case the driving mechanism is on, th…
We show that the inherent entanglement of the ground state of strongly correlated systems can be exploited for both classical and quantum communications. Our strategy is based on a single qubit rotation which encodes information in the entangled nature of the ground state. In classical communication, our mechanism conveys more than one bit of information in each shot, just as dense coding does, without demanding long range entanglement. In our scheme for quantum communication, which may more appropriately be considered as a remote state preparation, the quality is higher than the highly studie…
We define and analyse the concept of entanglement production during the evolution of a general quantum mechanical dissipative system. While it is important to minimise entropy production in order to achieve thermodynamical efficiency, maximising the rate of change of entanglement is important in quantum information processing. Quantitative relations are obtained between entropy and entanglement productions, under specific assumptions detailed in the text. We apply these to the processes of dephasing and decay of correlations between two initially entangled qubits. Both the Master equation trea…
We investigate the deterministic generation and distribution of entanglement in large quantum networks by driving distant qubits with the output fields of a non-degenerate parametric amplifier. In this setting, the amplifier produces a continuous Gaussian two-mode squeezed state, which acts as a quantum-correlated reservoir for the qubits and relaxes them into a highly entangled steady state. Here we are interested in the maximal amount of entanglement and the optimal entanglement generation rates that can be achieved with this scheme under realistic conditions taking, in particular, the finit…
We study production of entanglement with highly-mixed states. We find that entanglement between highly mixed states can be generated via a direct unitary interaction even when both states have purities arbitrarily close to zero. This indicates that purity of a subsystem is not required for entanglement generation. Our result is in contrast to previous studies where the importance of the subsystem purity was emphasized.
We present an experiment demonstrating entanglement-enhanced classical communication capacity of a quantum channel with correlated noise. The channel is modelled by a fiber optic link exhibiting random birefringence that fluctuates on a time scale much longer than the temporal separation between consecutive uses of the channel. In this setting, introducing entanglement between two photons travelling down the fiber allows one to encode reliably up to one bit of information into their joint polarization degree of freedom. When no quantum correlations between two separate uses of the channel are …
The quantum entanglement for the two electrons in three-body atomic systems such as the helium atom, the hydrogen negative ion and the positronium negative ion are investigated by employing highly correlated Hylleraas functions to represent the ground states of such systems. As a measure of the spatial entanglement, the linear entropy of the reduced density matrix is calculated for the ground states. The required four-electron (12-dimensional) integrals are solved analytically such that they are suitable for machine computations. Results are compared with other calculations when available.
Evolutional entanglement production is defined as the amount of entanglement produced by the evolution operator. This quantity is analyzed for systems whose Hamiltonians are characterized by spin operators. The evolutional entanglement production at the initial stage grows quadratically in time. For longer times, it oscillates, being quasiperiodic or periodic depending on the system parameters.
We derive bounds for the entanglement of a spin with an (adjacent and non-adjacent) interval of spins in an arbitrary pure finitely correlated state (FCS) on a chain of spins of any magnitude. Finitely correlated states are otherwise known as matrix product states or generalized valence-bond states. The bounds become exact in the limit of the entanglement of a single spin and the half-infinite chain to the right (or the left) of it. Our bounds provide a proof of the recent conjecture by Benatti, Hiesmayr, and Narnhofer that their necessary condition for non-vanishing entanglement in terms of a…
The relation is studied between the entanglement production and collective radiation by an ensemble of atoms. Entanglement production is quantified by means of a general measure introduced earlier by the author. Primary emphasis is placed on the entanglement generated by pseudospin density matrices. The problem of collective atomic radiation can be described by the pseudospin evolution equations. These equations define the evolutional entanglement generated by the related density matrices. Under conditions of superradiant emission, the entanglement production exhibits sharp peaks at the delay …
We consider entanglement distillation under the assumption that the input states are allowed to be correlated among each other. We hence replace the usually considered independent and identically-distributed hypothesis by the weaker assumption of merely having identical reductions. We find that whether a state is then distillable or not is only a property of these reductions, and not of the correlations that are present in the input state. This is shown by establishing an appealing relation between the set of copy-correlated undistillable states and the standard set of undistillable states: Th…
The quantum correlations, including entanglement and discord with its geometric measure, and classical correlation are studied for a bipartite partition of a open or closed quantum system. It is found that the purity of the initial state plays an important role in the dynamics of quantum and classical correlations. In the dephasing model, the quantum correlations loss and the classical correlation gain are instantaneously happen. While, the purity of the initial state destroys the quantum correlations which is resulted by the unitary interaction. Therefore, with the purity parameter, a particu…
Quantum chaos is a subject whose major goal is to identify and to investigate different quantum signatures of classical chaos. Here we study entanglement production in coupled chaotic systems as a possible quantum indicator of classical chaos. We use coupled kicked tops as a model for our extensive numerical studies. We find that, in general, presence of chaos in the system produces more entanglement. However, coupling strength between two subsystems is also very important parameter for the entanglement production. Here we show how chaos can lead to large entanglement which is universal and de…
Quantum coherence as an important quantum resource plays a key role in quantum theory. In this paper, using entropy-based measures, we investigate the relations between quantum correlated coherence, which is the coherence between subsystems [K. C. Tan, H. Kwon, C. Y. Park, and H. Jeong, Phys. Rev. A 94, 022329 (2016)], and two main kinds of quantum correlations as defined by quantum discord as well as quantum entanglement. In particular, we show that quantum discord and quantum entanglement can be well characterized by quantum correlated coherence. Moreover, we prove that the entanglement meas…
The production of quantum entanglement between weakly coupled mapping systems, whose classical counterparts are both strongly chaotic, is investigated. In the weak coupling regime, it is shown that time correlation functions of the unperturbed systems determine the entanglement production. In particular, we elucidate that the increment of nonlinear parameter of coupled kicked tops does not accelerate the entanglement production in the strongly chaotic region. An approach to the dynamical inhibition of entanglement is suggested.
We consider two qubits prepared in a product state and evolved under the magnetic dipolar interaction (MDI). We describe the dependence of the entanglement generated by the MDI with time, with the interaction parameters, and with the system's initial state, identifying the symmetry and coherence aspects of those initial configurations that yield the maximal entanglement. We also show how one can obtain maximum entanglement from the MDI applied to some families of partially entangled initial states.
The problem of entanglement produced by an arbitrary operator is formulated and a related measure of entanglement production is introduced. This measure of entanglement production satisfies all properties natural for such a characteristic. A particular case is the entanglement produced by a density operator or a density matrix. The suggested measure is valid for operations over pure states as well as over mixed states, for equilibrium as well as nonequilibrium processes. Systems of arbitrary nature can be treated, described either by field operators, spin operators, or any other kind of operat…
We examine the theoretical limits of the generation of entanglement in a damped coupled ion-cavity system using jump-based feedback. Using Raman transitions to produce entanglement between ground states reduces the necessary feedback bandwidth, but does not improve the overall effect of the spontaneous emission on the final entanglement. We find that the fidelity of the resulting entanglement will be limited by the asymmetries produced by vibrations in the trap, but that the concurrence remains above 0.88 for realistic ion trap sizes.
We show that initially localized and uncorrelated two-particles quantum wavepackets evolving in a one-dimensional discrete lattice become strongly entangled while drifting under the action of an harmonic AC field resonant with doubled Bloch oscillations promoted by a static DC field. Although partial entanglement is achieved when the AC field is resonant with the single-particle Bloch oscillations, it is strongly limited by the survival of anti-correlated unbounded states. We further show that the phase dependence of the wavepacket centroid velocity is similar to the semiclassical behavior dep…
Entanglement production, generated by an evolution operator, is considered. The measure of entanglement production, introduced earlier by one of the authors, is employed. As an illustration, a two-qubit register is studied and the corresponding measure of evolutional entanglement production is calculated. Such two-qubit registers can be realized by atomic systems in a double well or by trapped atoms with two coherent modes.
We analyze the connections between entanglement dynamics and classical trajectories in a semiclassi-cal regime for two systems: A pair of coupled oscillators and the Jaynes-Cummings model. We find that entanglement production depends on classical invariant tori and such phenomenon is closely related to the power spectra of classical trajectories. Classical power spectrum with a larger number of frequency com-ponents corresponds to larger entanglement. We introduce a frequency entropy to describe the classical frequency distribution, and find that there is good correspondence between the classi…
A method of entanglement production is suggested, based on the resonant generation of topological modes in systems with Bose-Einstein condensates trapped in optical or magnetic lattices. The method makes it possible to regulate the strength of entanglement production as well as to govern its time variation. This method can serve as a practical tool for quantum information processing and quantum computing.
We examine the evaluation of entanglement measures in weakly correlated gaussian states. It is shown that they can be expressed in terms of the singular values of a particular block of the generalized contraction matrix. This result enables to obtain in a simple way asymptotic expressions and related area laws for the entanglement entropy of bipartitions in pure states, as well as for the logarithmic negativity associated with bipartitions and also pairs of arbitrary subsystems. As illustration, we consider different types of contiguous and noncontiguous blocks in two dimensional lattices. Exa…
The production of orbitally entangled electrons in quantum-chaotic dots is investigated from a statistical point of view. The degree of entanglement is quantified through the concurrence and the entanglement of formation. We calculate the complete statistical distributions of the entanglement measures by using random matrix theory. Simple analytical expressions are provided for the concurrence distributions. We identify clear signatures of time-reversal invariance in the production of entanglement at the level of the entanglement-measure distributions, such as the ability of producing maximall…
The review is devoted to two important quantities characterizing many-body systems, order indices and the measure of entanglement production. Order indices describe the type of order distinguishing statistical systems. Contrary to the order parameters characterizing systems in the thermodynamic limit and describing long-range order, the order indices are applicable to finite systems and classify all types of orders, including long-range, mid-range, and short-range orders. The measure of entanglement production quantifies the amount of entanglement produced in a many-partite system by a quantum…
