REVISED VERSION: We have re-organized the paper, and included some new results. Most important, we prove that the (truncated) Weil complexes compute the cyclic cohomology of the Hopf algebra (see the new Theorem 7.3). We also include a short discussion on the uni-modulare case, and the computation for $H= U_q(sl_2)$.
THE OLD ABSTRACT: We give a construction of Connes-Moscovici's cyclic cohomology for any Hopf algebra equipped with a twisted antipode. Furthermore, we introduce a non-commutative Weil complex, which connects the work of Gelfand and Smirnov with cyclic cohomology. We show how the Weil complex arises naturally when looking at Hopf algebra actions and invariant higher traces, to give a non-commutative version of the usual Chern-Weil theory.
We generalize the notion, introduced by Henri Cartan, of an operation of a Lie algebra $\mathfrak g$ in a graded differential algebra $Ω$. We define the notion of an operation of a Hopf algebra $\mathcal H$ in a graded differential algebra $Ω$ which is refered to as a $\mathcal H$-operation. We then generalize for such an operation the notion of algebraic connection. Finally we discuss the corresponding noncommutative version of the Weil algebra: The Weil algebra $W(\mathcal H)$ of the Hopf algebra $\mathcal H$ is the universal initial object of the category of $\mathcal H$-operations with con…
In this short review article we sketch some developments which should ultimately lead to the analogy of the Chern-Weil homomorphism for principal bundles in the realm of non-commutative differential geometry. Principal bundles there should have Hopf algebras as structure `cogroups'. Since the usual machinery of Lie algebras, connection forms, etc\., just is not available in this setting, we base our approach on the Frölicher--Nijenhuis bracket.
The subject of this paper are two Hopf algebras which are the non-commutative analogues of two different groups of formal power series. The first group is the set of invertible series with the multiplication, while the second group is the set of formal diffeomorphisms with the composition. The motivation to introduce these Hopf algebras comes from the study of formal series with non-commutative coefficients. Invertible series with non-commutative coefficients still form a group, and we interpret the corresponding new non-commutative Hopf algebra as an alternative to the natural Hopf algebra gi…
This work applies the ideas of Alekseev and Meinrenken's Non-commutative Chern-Weil Theory to describe a completely combinatorial and constructive proof of the Wheeling Theorem. In this theory, the crux of the proof is, essentially, the familiar demonstration that a characteristic class does not depend on the choice of connection made to construct it. To a large extent this work may be viewed as an exposition of the details of some of Alekseev and Meinrenken's theory written for Kontsevich integral specialists. Our goal was a presentation with full combinatorial detail in the setting of Jacobi…
In this paper we describe the right-sided combinatorial Hopf structure of three Hopf algebras appearing in the context of renormalization in quantum field theory: the non-commutative version of the Faà di Bruno Hopf algebra, the non-commutative version of the charge renormalization Hopf algebra on planar binary trees for quantum electrodynamics, and the non-commutative version of the Pinter renormalization Hopf algebra on any bosonic field. We also describe two general ways to define the associative product in such Hopf algebras, the first one by recursion, and the second one by grafting and s…
In formulating a generalized framework to study certain noncommutative algebras naturally arising in representation theory, K. A. Brown asked if every finitely generated Hopf algebra satisfying a polynomial identity was finite over a normal commutative Hopf subalgebra. In this note we show that Radford's biproduct, applied to the enveloping algebra of the Lie superalgebra pl(1,1), provides a noetherian prime counterexample.
A half-commutative orthogonal Hopf algebra is a Hopf *-algebra generated by the self-adjoint coefficients of an orthogonal matrix corepresentation $v=(v_{ij})$ that half commute in the sense that $abc=cba$ for any $a,b,c \in \{v_{ij}\}$. The first non-trivial such Hopf algebras were discovered by Banica and Speicher. We propose a general procedure, based on a crossed product construction, that associates to a self-transpose compact subgroup $G \subset U_n$ a half-commutative orthogonal Hopf algebra $\mathcal A_*(G)$. It is shown that any half-commutative orthogonal Hopf algebra arises in this …
We prove in this paper a Borel-Weil-Bott type theorem for the coHochschild homology of a quantum shuffle algebra associated with quantum group datum taking coefficients in some well-chosen bicomodules, which can be looked as an analogue of equivariant line bundles over flag varieties in the non-commutative case.
The finite dual $H^{\circ}$ of an affine commutative-by-finite Hopf algebra $H$ is studied. Such a Hopf algebra $H$ is an extension of an affine commutative Hopf algebra $A$ by a finite dimensional Hopf algebra $F$. The main theorem gives natural conditions under which $H^{\circ}$ decomposes as a crossed or smash product of $F^{\ast}$ by the finite dual of $A$. This decomposition is then further analysed using the Cartier- Gabriel-Kostant theorem to obtain component Hopf subalgebras of $H^{\circ}$ mapping onto the classical components of $A^{\circ}$. The detailed consequences for a number of f…
The objects of study in this paper are Hopf algebras $H$ which are finitely generated algebras over an algebraically closed field and are extensions of a commutative Hopf algebra by a finite dimensional Hopf algebra. Basic structural and homological properties are recalled and classes of examples are listed. Bounds are obtained on the dimensions of simple $H$-modules, and the structure of $H$ is shown to be severely constrained when the finite dimensional extension is semisimple and cosemisimple.
The Connes-Kreimer Hopf algebra of rooted trees, its dual, and the Foissy Hopf algebra of of planar rooted trees are related to each other and to the well-known Hopf algebras of symmetric and quasi-symmetric functions via a pair of commutative diagrams. We show how this point of view can simplify computations in the Connes-Kreimer Hopf algebra and its dual, particularly for combinatorial Dyson-Schwinger equations.
Motivated by the Hopf algebra structures established on free commutative Rota-Baxter algebras, we explore Hopf algebra related structures on free commutative Nijenhuis algebras. Applying a cocycle condition, we first prove that a free commutative Nijenhuis algebra on a left counital bialgebra (in the sense that the right-sided counicity needs not hold) can be enriched to a left counital bialgebra. We then establish a general result that a connected graded left counital bialgebra is a left counital right antipode Hopf algebra in the sense that the antipode is also only right-sided. We finally a…
Let A be a commutative unital algebra over an algebraically closed field k of characteristic not equal to 2, whose generators form a finite-dimensional subspace V, with no nontrivial homogeneous quadratic relations. Let Q be a Hopf algebra that coacts on A inner-faithfully, while leaving V invariant. We prove that Q must be commutative when either: (i) the coaction preserves a non-degenerate bilinear form on V; or (ii) Q is co-semisimple, finite-dimensional, and char(k)=0.
In this work, the cohomology theory for partial actions of co-commutative Hopf algebras over commutative algebras is formulated. This theory generalizes the cohomology theory for Hopf algebras introduced by Sweedler and the cohomology theory for partial group actions, introduced by Dokuchaev and Khrypchenko. Some nontrivial examples, not coming from groups are constructed. Given a partial action of a co-commutative Hopf algebra $H$ over a commutative algebra $A$, we prove that there exists a new Hopf algebra $\widetilde{A}$, over a commutative ring $E(A)$, upon which $H$ still acts partially a…
Let H be a semisimple (so, finite dimensional) Hopf algebra over an algebraically closed field k of characteristic zero and let A be a commutative domain over k. We show that if A arises as an H-module algebra via an inner faithful H-action, then H must be a group algebra. This answers a question of E. Kirkman and J. Kuzmanovich and partially answers a question of M. Cohen. The main results of this article extend to working over k of positive characteristic. On the other hand, we obtain results on Hopf actions on Weyl algebras as a consequence of the main theorem.
We present a geometric approach, in the spirit of the Chern-Weil theory, for constructing cocycles representing the classes of the Hopf cyclic cohomology of the Hopf algebra H(n) relative to GL(n, R). This provides an explicit description of the universal Hopf cyclic Chern classes, which complements our earlier geometric realization of the Hopf cyclic characteristic classes of foliations.
Based on a pairing of two regular multiplier Hopf algebras $A$ and $B$, Heisenberg double $\mathscr{H}$ is the smash product $A \# B$ with respect to the left regular action of $B$ on $A$. Let $\mathscr{D}=A\bowtie B$ be the Drinfel'd double, then Heisenberg double $\mathscr{H}$ is a Yetter-Drinfel'd $\mathscr{D}$-module algebra, and it is also braided commutative by the braiding of Yetter-Drinfel'd module, which generalizes the results in [10] to some infinite dimensional cases.
A strict 2-group is a 2-category with one object in which all morphisms and all 2-morphisms have inverses. 2-Groups have been studied in the context of homotopy theory, higher gauge theory and Topological Quantum Field Theory (TQFT). In the present article, we develop the notions of trialgebra and cotrialgebra, generalizations of Hopf algebras with two multiplications and one comultiplication or vice versa, and the notion of Hopf categories, generalizations of monoidal categories with an additional functorial comultiplication. We show that each strict 2-group has a `group algebra' which is a c…
In this paper we completely classify nontrivial semisimple Hopf algebras of dimension 16. We also compute all the possible structures of the Grothendieck ring of semisimple non-commutative Hopf algebras of dimension 16. Moreover, we prove that non-commutative semisimple Hopf algebras of dimension p^n, p is prime, cannot have a cyclic group of grouplikes.
Loday and Ronco defined an interesting Hopf algebra structure on the linear span of the set of planar binary trees. They showed that the inclusion of the Hopf algebra of non-commutative symmetric functions in the Malvenuto-Reutenauer Hopf algebra of permutations factors through their Hopf algebra of trees, and these maps correspond to natural maps from the weak order on the symmetric group to the Tamari order on planar binary trees to the boolean algebra. We further study the structure of this Hopf algebra of trees using a new basis for it. We describe the product, coproduct, and antipode in t…
Recent work on perturbative quantum field theory has led to much study of the Connes-Kreimer Hopf algebra. Its (graded) dual, the Grossman-Larson Hopf algebra of rooted trees, had already been studied by algebraists. L. Foissy introduced a noncommutative version of the Connes-Kreimer Hopf algebra, which turns out to be self-dual. Using some homomorphisms defined by the author and W. Zhao, we describe a commutative diagram that relates the aforementioned Hopf algebras to each other and to the Hopf algebras of symmetric functions, noncommutative symmetric functions, and quasi-symmetric functions…
Hopf algebroids are generalization of Hopf algebras over non-commutative base rings. It consists of a left- and a right-bialgebroid structure related by a map called the antipode. However, if the base ring of a Hopf algebroid is commutative one does not necessarily have a Hopf algebra. Meanwhile, a Hopf category is the categorification of a Hopf algebra. It consists of a category enriched over a braided monoidal category such that every hom-set carries a coalgebra structure together with an antipode functor. In this article, we will introduce the notion of a topological Hopf category$-$ a smal…
Let $(H,R)$ be a quasitriangular weak Hopf algebra over a field $k$. We show that there is a braided monoidal equivalence between the Yetter-Drinfeld module category $^H_H\mathscr{YD}$ over $H$ and the category of comodules over some braided Hopf algebra ${}_RH$ in the category $_H\mathscr{M}$. Based on this equivalence, we prove that every braided bi-Galois object $A$ over the braided Hopf algebra ${}_RH$ defines a braided autoequivalence of the category $^H_H\mathscr{YD}$ if and only if $A$ is quantum commutative. In case $H$ is semisimple over an algebraically closed field, i.e. the fusion …
Principal comodule algebras can be thought of as objects representing principal bundles in non-commutative geometry. A crucial component of a principal comodule algebra is a strong connection map. For some applications it suffices to prove that such a map exists, but for others, such as computing the associated bundle projectors or Chern-Galois characters, an explicit formula for a strong connection is necessary. It has been known for some time how to construct a strong connection map on a multi-pullback comodule algebra from strong connections on multi-pullback components, but the known expli…
It is shown that the non-commutative three-sphere introduced by Matsumoto is a total space of the quantum Hopf bundle over the classical two-sphere. A canonical connection is constructed, and is shown to coincide with the standard Dirac magnetic monopole.
For any graded bialgebras $A$ and $B$, we define a commutative graded algebra $A_B$ representing the functor of $B$-representations of $A$. When $A$ is a cocommutative graded Hopf algebra and $B$ is a commutative ungraded Hopf algebra, we introduce a method deriving a Gerstenhaber bracket in $A_B$ from a Fox pairing in $A$ and a balanced biderivation in $B$. Our construction is inspired by Van den Bergh's non-commutative Poisson geometry, and may be viewed as an algebraic generalization of the Atiyah--Bott--Goldman Poisson structures on moduli spaces of representations of surface groups.
For a commutative algebra the shuffle product is a morphism of complexes. We generalize this result to the quantum shuffle product, associated to a class of non-commutative algebras (for example all the Hopf algebras). As a first application we show that the Hochschild-Serre identity is the dual statement of our result. In particular, we extend this identity to Hopf algebras. Secondly, we clarify the construction of a class of quasi-Hopf algebras.
We discuss some axioms that ensure that a Hopf algebra has its simple comodules classified using an analogue of the Borel-Weil construction. More precisely we show that a Hopf algebra having a dense big cell satisfies the above requirement. This method has its roots in the work of Parshall and Wang in the case of q-deformed quantum groups GL and SL. Here we examine the example of universal cosovereign Hopf algebras, for which the weight group is the free group on two generators.
Many related products and coproducts (e.g. Hadamard, Cauchy, Kronecker, induction, internal, external, Solomon, composition, Malvenuto-Reutenauer, convolution, etc.) have been defined in the following objects : species, representations of the symmetric groups, symmetric functions, endomorphisms of graded connected Hopf algebras, permutations, non-commutative symmetric functions, quasi-symmetric functions, etc. With the purpose of simplifying and unifying this diversity we introduce yet, another -non graded- product the Heisenberg product, that for the highest and lowest degrees produces the cl…
In this paper, we introduce and investigate \emph{bisemialgebras}and\emph{\ Hopf semialgebras} over commutative semirings. We generalize to the semialgebraic context several results on bialgebras and Hopf algebras over rings including the main reconstruction theorems and the \emph{Fundamental Theorem of Hopf Algebras}. We also provide a notion of \emph{quantum monoids} as Hopf semialgebras which are neither commutative nor cocommutative; this extends the Hopf algebraic notion of a quantum group. The generalization to the semialgebraic context is neither trivial nor straightforward due to the n…
We prove that commutative algebras in braided tensor categories do not admit faithful Hopf algebra actions unless they come from group actions. We also show that a group action allows us to see the algebra as the regular algebra in the representation category of the acting group.
In this paper we present solutions to the non-commutative geometrical version of the Yang-Mills-Scalar-Matter theory in the Hopf fibration using the $3D$--calculus.
In \cite{Kreimer1,Connes,Broadhurst,Kreimer2}, a commutative, non cocommutative Hopf algebra H_R of (decorated) rooted trees was introduced. It is related to the Hopf algebra H_CM introduced in \cite{Moscovici}. Its dual Hopf algebra is the enveloping algebra of the Lie algebra of rooted trees L^1. In this paper, we introduce a non commutative, non cocommutative Hopf algebra H_PR of decorated planar rooted trees. We first show that H_PR is self dual. We then use this result to construct a non degenerate bilinear form (,) on H_PR, which respects the Hopf algebra structure of H_PR. Moreover, we …
These are the expanded notes of a course given at the Summer school "Geometric, topological and algebraic methods for quantum field theory" held at Villa de Leyva, Colombia in July 2015. We first give an introduction to non-commutative geometry and to the language of Hopf algebras. We next build up a theory of non-commutative principal fiber bundles and consider various aspects of such objects. Finally, we illustrate the theory using the quantum enveloping algebra $U_q\mathfrak{sl}(2)$ and related Hopf algebras.
We consider graded representations of the algebra NC of noncommutative symmetric functions on the Z-linear span of a graded poset P. The matrix coefficients of such a representation give a Hopf morphism from a Hopf algebra HP generated by the intervals of P to the Hopf algebra of quasi-symmetric functions. This provides a unified construction of quasi-symmetric generating functions from different branches of algebraic combinatorics, and this construction is useful for transferring techniques and ideas between these branches. In particular we show that the (Hopf) algebra of Billera and Liu rela…
This paper is concerned with the theory of cup-products in Hopf-type cyclic cohomology of algebras and coalgebras. Here we give detailed proofs of the statements, announced in our previous paper. We show that the cyclic cohomology of a coalgebra can be obtained from a construction involving noncommutative Weil algebra. Then we use a generalization of Quillen and Crainic's construction to define the cup-product. We discuss the relation of the introduced cup-product and $S$-operations on cyclic cohomology. After this we describe the relation of this type of product and bivariant cyclic cohomolog…
This paper is a written form of a talk. It gives a review of various notions of Galois (and in particular cleft) extensions. Extensions by coalgebras, bialgebras and Hopf algebras (over a commutative base ring) and by corings, bialgebroids and Hopf algebroids (over a non-commutative base algebra) are systematically recalled and compared. In the first version of this paper, the journal version of [15, Theorem 2.6] was heavily used, in two respects. First, it was applied to establish an isomorphism between the comodule categories of two constituent bialgebroids in a Hopf algebroid. Second, it was …
The zx-calculus and related theories are based on so-called interacting Frobenius algebras, where a pair of dagger-special commutative Frobenius algebras jointly form a pair of Hopf algebras. In this setting we introduce a generalisation of this structure, Hopf-Frobenius algebras, starting from a single Hopf algebra which is not necessarily commutative or cocommutative. We provide a few necessary and sufficient conditions for a Hopf algebra to be a Hopf-Frobenius algebra, and show that every Hopf algebra in the category of finite dimensional vector spaces is a Hopf-Frobenius algebra. In additi…
We give a systematic description of the cyclic cohomology theory of Hopf algebroids in terms of its associated category of modules. Then we introduce a dual cyclic homology theory by applying cyclic duality to the underlying cocyclic object. We derive general structure theorems for these theories in the special cases of commutative and cocommutative Hopf algebroids. Finally, we compute the cyclic theory in examples associated to Lie-Rinehart algebras and étale groupoids.
Let $W$ be a differential (not necessarily commutative) algebra which carries a free action of a polynomial algebra $SP$ with homogeneous generators $p_1, >..., p_r$. We show that for $W$ acyclic, the cohomology of the quotient $H(W/<p_1, ..., p_r>)$ is isomorphic to a Clifford algebra $\text{Cl}(P,B)$, where the (possibly degenerate) bilinear form $B$ depends on $W$. This observation is an analogue of an old result of Borel in a non-commutative context. As an application, we study the case of $W$ given by the quantized Weil algebra $\qWg = \Ug \otimes \Clg$ for $\Lieg$ a reductive Lie algebra…
In this work, the notion of a quantum inverse semigroup is introduced as a linearized generalization of inverse semigroups. Beyond the algebra of an inverse semigroup, which is the natural example of a quantum inverse semigroup, several other examples of this new structure are presented in different contexts, those are related to Hopf algebras, weak Hopf algebras, partial actions and Hopf categories. Finally, a generalized notion of local bisections are defined for commutative Hopf algebroids over a commutative base algebra giving rise to new examples of quantum inverse semigroups associated t…
We define cyclic cohomology of corings over not necessarily commutative algebras. We observe that the key fact which allows us to define this complex is that enveloping algebra of an algebra is a para Hopf algebroid. This observation enables us to define Hopf cyclic cohomology of corings on which para Hopf algebroids act.
In this article, we will define non-commutative covering spaces using Hopf-Galois theory. We will look at basic properties of covering spaces that still hold for these non-commutative analogues. We will describe examples including coverings of commutative spaces and coverings of non-commutative tori.
Action of finite-dimensional Hopf algebra $H$ on commutative $k-$algebra $A$ is considered. As a generalization of the well-known fact for finite groups S. Montgomery raised a problem in 1993 whether $A$ is integral over subalgebra of invariants $A^H$. Recently some new results were obtained. Using the properties of coradical filtration of pointed Hopf algebras we verified the truth of the hypothesis in tree different cases: 1) Hopf algebra $H$ is commutative; 2) char $k = p > 0$; 3) $A$ is integral domain. In spite of numerous partial positive results it turned out that hypothesis of S. Montg…
In earlier joint work with A. Connes on transverse index theory on foliations, cyclic cohomology adapted to Hopf algebras has emerged as a decisive tool in deciphering the total index class of the hypoelliptic signature operator. We have found a Hopf algebra H(n), playing the role of a `quantum structure group' for the `space of leaves' of a codimension n foliation, whose Hopf cyclic cohomology is canonically isomorphic to the Gelfand-Fuks cohomology of the Lie algebra of formal vector fields. However, with a few low-dimensional exceptions, no explicit construction was known for its Hopf cycli…
We study the Yetter--Drinfeld D(B)-module algebra structure on the Heisenberg double H(B^*) endowed with a "heterotic" action of the Drinfeld double D(B). This action can be interpreted in the spirit of Lu's description of H(B^*) as a twist of D(B). In terms of the braiding of Yetter--Drinfeld modules, H(B^*) is braided commutative. By the Brzezinski--Militaru theorem, H(B^*)#D(B) is then a Hopf algebroid over H(B^*). For B a particular Taft Hopf algebra at a 2p-th root of unity, the construction is adapted to yield Yetter--Drinfeld module algebras over the 2p^3-dimensional quantum group U_q(s…
We show how to get a non-commutative product for functions on space-time starting from the deformation of the coproduct of the Poincare' group using the Drinfel'd twist. Thus it is easy to see that the commutative algebra of functions on space-time (R^4) can be identified as the set of functions on the Poincare' group invariant under the right action of the Lorentz group provided we use the standard coproduct for the Poincare' group. We obtain our results for the noncommutative Moyal plane by generalizing this result to the case of the twisted coproduct. This extension is not trivial and invol…
Let $k$ be a commutative ring, $H$ a faithfully flat Hopf algebra with bijective antipode, $A$ a $k$-flat right $H$-comodule algebra. We investigate when a relative Hopf module is projective over the subring of coinvariants $B=A^{{\rm co}H}$, and we study the semisimplicity of the category of relative Hopf modules.
A quasi-Hopf algebra $H$ can be seen as a commutative algebra $A$ in the centre $\mathcal Z(H-Mod)$ of $H-Mod$. We show that the category of $A$-modules in $\mathcal Z(H-Mod)$ is equivalent (as a monoidal category) to $H-Mod$. This can be regarded as a generalization of the structure theorem of Hopf bimodules of a Hopf algebra to the quasi-Hopf setting.
By a recent work of Gran-Kadjo-Vercruysse, the category of cocommutative Hopf algebras over a field of characteristic zero is semi-abelian. In this paper, we explore some properties of this categoy, in particular we show that its abelian core is the category of commutative and cocommutative Hopf algebras.
In this paper we present the Sweedler cohomology for a cocommutative weak Hopf algebra H. We show that the second cohomology group classifies completely the weak crossed products, having a common preunit, of H with a commutative left H-module algebra A.
This paper considers a generalisation of the idea of a Hopf algebra in which a commutative ring replaces the field in the unit and counit. It is motivated by an example from the inverse scattering formalism for solitons. We begin with the corresponding idea for groups, where the concept of the identity is altered.
To any Hopf algebra H we associate two commutative Hopf algebras, which we call the first and second lazy homology Hopf algebras of H. These algebras are related to the lazy cohomology groups based on the so-called lazy cocycles of H by universal coefficient theorems. When H is a group algebra, then its lazy homology can be expressed in terms of the 1- and 2-homology of the group. When H is a cosemisimple Hopf algebra over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero, then its first lazy homology is the Hopf algebra of the universal abelian grading group of the category of corepresenta…
The correspondence between Lie algebras, Lie groups, and algebraic groups, on one side and commutative Hopf algebras on the other side are known for a long time by works of Hochschild-Mostow and others. We extend this correspondence by associating a noncommutative noncocommutative Hopf algebra to any matched pair of Lie algebras, Lie groups, and affine algebraic groups. We canonically associate a modular pair in involution to any of these Hopf algebras. More precisely, to any locally finite representation of a matched pair object as above we associate a SAYD module to the corresponding Hopf al…
Masuoka proved (2009) that a finite-dimensional irreducible Hopf algebra $H$ in positive characteristic is semisimple if and only if it is commutative semisimple if and only if the Hopf subalgebra generated by all primitives is semisimple. In this paper, we give another proof of this result by using Hochschild cohomology of coalgebras.
We construct a class of non-commutative, non-cocommutative, semisimple Hopf algebras of dimension $2n^2$ and present conditions to define an inner faithful action of these Hopf algebras on quantum polynomial algebras, providing, in this way, more examples of semisimple Hopf actions which do not factor through group actions. Also, under certain condition, we classify the inner faithful Hopf actions of the Kac-Paljutkin Hopf algebra of dimension $8$, $H_8$, on the quantum plane.
We characterize braided commutative Yetter-Drinfeld $C^*$-algebras over weak Hopf $C^*$-algebras in categorical terms. Using this, we then study quotient type coideal subalgebras of a given weak Hopf $C^*$-algebra $\mathcal G$ and coideal subalgebras invariant with respect to the adjoint action of $\mathcal G$. Finally, as an example, we explicitly describe quotient type coideal subalgebras of the weak Hopf $C^*$-algebras associated with Tambara-Yamagami categories.
